Started off the day with a long forest walk. Taking me to the Doode Beemde where I searched in vain for a Geocache near the Koebrug. A railroad bridge where - during the second World War - the resistance managed to derail a German train and lorries. Now the bridge is still in use on the line Heverlee-Wavre . This is one of the entrances into the Doode Beemde, but access is interdicted because the area behind the bridge is considered a protected nature reserve. There had been some heavy forest maintenance going on in the neighborhood of the bridge. I hope the Geaocache is still there.

So I backed up on my steps and entered the Doode Beemde through the entry near the Reigersstraat. The going was wet when I followed the trail along the border of the river Dyle all the way to Sint-Joris Weert. Here I disappeared into Meerdael Forest, checking out the -still missing - Bosprotter and the making my way along the Speelbos towards the Denteneerpad.

I added a loop into Vaalbeek which brought the distance up to a respectable 16.3K. When I arrived home I undressed, got into my cycling gear and on the Hilset on the Tacx Satori for another hour of cycling. The resistance low and the emphasis being on recovery and easy pedalling whilst keeping the speed up.
