Oh yes, NIGHTRIDE time again. Today, or rather, this evening was the first one for me this autumn . Started out easy on the road to check out the state of my lights and get used to the rhythm of riding in the dark, with just the white cone of your light to guide you , once again. It felt great to be out in the dark; the loneliness, the inherent danger, the quiet, the 40 watt HID beam blinding car drivers, the smell of freshly harvested beets when passing the fields where the machines were still working to get them out of the ground, the pang in my stomach from the sugary smell of the beets, reminding me I hadn't eaten for 6 hour, the crispness of the onsetting night, the waning full moon playing hide and seek behind some sparse clouds. Yes, it felt great to be out again in the dark.
