It had been since the end of september that I last rode a bike outside so when the temperature reached 10 degrees C in the early afternoon I decided to take the Litespeed Obed out for a spin. The bike felt right from the start but I soon discovered that 5 months is a long time. My body remembered the cycling movement - I have been riding on the rollers - but there is a big difference between the stable environment on the rollers and the different input the bike and body get when cycling outside. I started easy and let the legs find a good speed and tempo. The two climbs I took with caution not to let my heartrate go up too high. My hands seem to hurt the most. Clasping the handlebar and undergoing the shocks - although tempered by triple titanium - and perhaps gripping too tight due to the lack of experience with the movements of the wheel and the bike. I switched positions using the horns and after a while I could relax a bit more. I had a good time and I'm sure I will feel pain in muscles long forgotten in the coming days..
