First I didn't plan to ride out today but when I saw the sun out in full glory I changed my plans and prepared my bike. But in doing so I strained a muscle in my lower back which made me decide to not ride out after all. Instead I cleaned my Hilset, put on a new chain and its winter wheels. These are an old set of XTR hubbed wheels made in 1993 or 1994. They still shine like a new dime and the hubs have only been opened once in all that time. XTR is XTR, period. Then I checked out my back, did some warmup exercises and stretching and decided to ride an hour on the rollers. This doesn't put any excess strain on my lower back and lets me "grease the hips" by the supple and fast movement of the legs. I feel movement is better than rest in some cases. I've been there before though and I know for sure that tomorrow my back will feel stiff . Perhaps I will be forced to take a couple of days rest but that remains to be seen.
