Today promised to be dry. Starting at 10am I saw some sun but also a lot of wind and some clouds already gathering. But it was dry and with an average temperature of 21 degrees the temperature was fine as well. The wheels rolled smoothly as I set out along Bierbeek and Willebringen. Descending into Hoegaarden coming from the Goudland Geosite I had to turn right and up to the Marollen chapel because a mudstream was blocking the road. Past Houtem and the a little bit of cobbles before descending into Hoegaarden. Past Zetrud Lumay and onto the Ravel 2. The wind was blowing in my face now but the shelter of the shrubberies provided some relief. Past Jodoigne and Otto's Mount. Then I turned right towards the N91. The wind was now blowing from my left side and at least this allowed me to up the speed a bit. Some nasty tugs high on the plains but when I reached Pietrebais I could turn right again and enjoy a gentle airy push all the way towards Meldert. Turning left towards Opvelp the wind was back tugging from the side. But I was nearly home now and I could keep a good rhythm until I reached my destination. It remained dry although at some point the clouds were really menacing.
