Weather was great today. Temperature of 22 degrees C, a slight northeasterly wind and sunshine. So when I got home from work I set about on my first reconnaissance of the Haasrode-Huy-Haasrode trail. I cut the trail in Autre-Eglise and connected to the return track in Orp-Le-Grand. Most of the roads were mac-adam so some stuttery sections but the pace could be maintained quite high. Except for some road maintenance riding out of Melin on my way to Jodoigne and when leaving Hoegaarden on the way back. The recon proved a great success, I netted a good solid ride which put some stress on my legs . Climbing was powerful and the speed on the flats was 30kph+ all the way.
