The whole week saw windy and rainy weather so I had high hopes for today. The forecast was that it would remain more or less dry. I had planned a 100K+ ride riding upto Namur or even Marche-les-Dames. Unfortunately, there was another player in the field who would force me to change my plans. The wind was blowing fiercely from the southwest. Riding through Bierbeek and towards Meldert I could already feel it tugging and pushing me , its gusty character becoming more pronouced as I became more exposed on the higher plains. Since the temperatures weren't all that great and there were also clouds forming, I decided to fold my plans for the long ride and settled on a more hilly, but shorter ride. Turning right towards Beauvechain and Pietrebais I could feel the full force of the winf in my face and from the right. Down towards Grez and then onwards to Archennes and Florival. The long climb towards Ottenburg had me again struggle against the wind which blew into the valley, straight into my face.
In Ottenburg I rode on and descended towards Terlanen. Climbing up the Holstheide and setting a good speed on the downhill of the Smeysberg. Another right now had the wind blowing into my back, and some raindrops started to fall. Fast pace now as I passed Loonbeek and Neerijse and came to Egenhoven. The streets were slowly getting wet and I was cursing when I saw my bike was getting wet. This would mean some extra cleaning after the ride. The rain didn't push through though but it remained moist until I reached home.
