Marjorie Lowry Christie Pickthall (1883-1922) was een Engelse dichteres, dramaturg en kinderboekenauteur die het grootste deel van haar leven in Canada doorbracht. Door contemporaine critici werd ze als de grootse Canadese dichteres van haar generatie beschouwd. Tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog verbleef ze in haar geboorteland waar ze in 1915 en 1916 een opleiding als automekanieker volgde om zo haar steentje bij te dragen aan de oorlogsinspanning. Ze werd echter wegens haar zwakke gezondheid afgewezen.
