Former ROH and NXT star, Chris Hero was recently interviewed by Busted Open Radio about his future plans in the world of pro wrestling. He also spoke about the possibility of coming to TNA. He said
"At this point, I am looking at all my options. I would never say no to something based on reputation. I am booked up for the rest of the year pretty much and I am keeping next year open as far as international dates and I want to maximize my opportunities and be able to hit up Europe for a couple weeks and I definitely want to go back to Japan. Im trying to get that figured out.
If there was an interest with TNA, it is an offer that I would definitely entertain but I just want to strike while the iron is hot and set the best landscape for my career and where I go because I know everyone is happy to see me and its cool: 'Hey, Chris Hero is back' but I do realize that its not going to last forever so I am going to have to continue to evolve and bring something different to the table. It will be interesting to see on how this plays out with all of the different companies that I am working for in the next couple months."
Former TNA Star Devon joined Monday Night Mayhem recently and spoke candidly about his departure from TNA and why he will never return to the company again. Below is a quick recap.
On his first TNA departure and his return:
Actually no, some people thought it was a work. They thought we were working them. We actually were not. my contract expired August 29th. That year, last year to be exact. I actually walked away. My opinion and the opinion of many others was that the offer they made me was extremely insulting and I was not going to stand for it. The Thursday before Bound For Glory, I got a phone call with a different offer. It was one that I was definitely OK with. They wanted to talk immediately after the television show. All of that went down literally within hours. About 72 hours from Bound For Glory.
Only about 5 people knew. DOC and Knux literally didn't know. I came in about halfway through the pay per view. They only knew when we were ready to go out and do the run in.
On what led to his departure:
They wanted me to sign for 3 [years] and i just said 'nope' because I felt that the relationship between TNA and I was heading south and they looked at things a lot different than I did. I didn't see the direction of the company going in the way i thought it was going to go so i said, Let's just do one year.
I was a little annoyed at certain things that happened during the split with bubba. They had me sitting at home while they built his singles career. I had to fight for a lot of things. I never really got my just due. There are those that say well, I had the television title but look now. When you go on the air and say I'm going to defend the television title every week on Impact and you do it for the first couple of months and then all of a sudden you don't do it any more.
It's not my fault and it's not the General Manager, Hulk Hogan's fault because he's not calling the shots. It's the guys behind the scenes. We had to take a back seat because of the Bound For Glory qualifiers.
On his recent departure:
Once again, same thing, we started this year good and then they just started ripping things from underneath me and a lot of other guys. I made my opinions known. I love Bubba to death. I'm happy for all his success and all but i think TNA didn't do the right thing by me during the split. There were a whole lot of empty promises that were made that they never came through on.
EXCLUSIVE: More On The New Impact Wrestling Zone In Orlando
The current Impact Wrestling Zone in Soundstage 19 held approximately 680 fans last night. The area was said to have been a work in progress with some areas not used and stage equipment visible. There were a number of fans that had to be turned away at the gate after being told to wait in a holding area pending the VIP fans get in first.
It is believed that once some of the other props and equipment is finalized, the number of fans that can be held will increase slightly. The area holding the hard camera was not used at all.
There are some in TNA that still have hopes that Universal will either vacate soundstage 21 or another, larger soundstage so TNA can eventually move into a larger venue for tapings.
Forum member Jim Uni posted a panoramic picture of last night's set
Independent Wrestler Candice LeRae, who wrestled Gail Kim during Kim's open challenge last night, took to her twitter page to thank fans for all of the love and appreciation they gave her for her appearance on Impact. She wrote:
Absolutely overwhelmed with the feedback from #TNA tonight! Thank you!!! I love you all! I'll keep improving and fighting for you all! Xoxo
Backstage News on Why WWE Is Pushing Big Show Posted by Steve Carrier on 11/08/2013 at 09:26 AM Big Show is main eventing WWE's Survivor Series pay-per-view with Randy Orton because there's a renewed effort within WWE to put larger or bigger wrestlers in the spotlight. This is the reason for Show being pushed and why we've seen more of Luke Harper and The Great Khali lately.
There's a feeling that Daniel Bryan was on top for a few months and WWE's pay-per-view buyrates have been down during that period. The feeling among upper management is that Bryan isn't a larger than life wrestler and that's what fans want. They feel a guy like Bryan should be on the mid-card having great matches.
WWE releases a top NXT star Posted by Aaron Rift on 11/09/2013 at 12:58 AM
According to PWInsider.com, WWE has released Chris Spradlin from his developmental deal this week. He was known as Kassius Ohno on NXT and Chris Hero before joining WWE.
Hes already been announced to face Hurricane Helms on November 16th for Pro Wrestling Syndicate in Rahway, NJ.
- "Director of Operations" Kane had his first day on the job at Friday's WWE live event in Brussels. He came out wearing a suit and interfered in the Big Show vs. Randy Orton match, allowing Orton to get the win. After the match, Kane shook Orton's hand and called out The Shield to give Big Show a beatdown. Show ended up making a comeback and challenging Kane to come in the ring. Kane ended up leaving without a fight. He later tweeted:
According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Jeff Jarrett is responsible for making the deals with outside promotions for AJ Styles to defend the TNA World Heavyweight Title. Jarrett is also now working as the agent for most of TNA's big matches, such as the recent Kurt Angle vs. Bobby Roode match on Impact
AJ Styles Rumor Roundup: WWE Made Lowball Offer, Quietly ReSigns Or All Just A Work?
The Wrestling Observer is reporting that AJ Styles did get the opportunity to jump to WWE but for a very low price . WWE reportedly did make an offer a few weeks ago, but for about 20% of what he currently makes in TNA.
Meanwhile PWInsider is reporting that there is speculation that he and TNA have quietly signed a new long-term deal. Styles had initially signed an extension through December.
Last but not least, there is deep speculation that all of the TNA/AJ Styles contract rumors was just a work in order to spur interest in the recent storyline between TNA, Dixie Carter and AJ Styles.
Independent Wrestler Santana Garrett Alludes To Good News
Independent wrestler Santana Garrett tweeted that she received some good news today but was not able to elaborate on it.
Santana was one of the three women who received a tryout at TNA's developmental territory OVW. She faced former TNA developmental talent Taeler Hendrix in a losing effort.
Santana did not only receive a TNA tryout, but in September got a WWE tryout in their developmental territory NXT, losing to Ric Flair's daughter Charlotte.
If the name seems familiar, Santana has appeared for TNA on two different occasions. The first being in March of 2010 as the valet of the re-debuting Orlando Jordan where he debut a new look and started the bisexual angle. After training Santana returned to TNA at the Knockouts Knockdown on March 17, 2013, where she competed as a villain in a losing effort against Brooke Tessmacher.
Other women who recently received TNA Tryouts include Candice LaRae (twice), Veda Scott, and Marti Belle. I can confirm that Christy Hemme was looking into ROH and former OVW star Scarlett, but I don't know if she ever did get the tryout.
- Another source has confirmed that WWE decided to remove Kane's mask so he can be more identifiable when WWE Studios' begins promoting See No Evil 2 on TV. Kane will be working without the mask going forward.
Matt Hardy recently spoke with VOC Nation. Here are some highlights:
Being part of the birth of extreme wrestling: You can go back to the first TLC ladder match with Edge and Christian or even before that to the original Omega. Myself and my brother were two of the guys who wrote the dictionary definition of extreme wrestling. Once we got to the WWE and we got the chance to have the ladder matches and the cage matches, we took them to a different level. We opened up a lot of doors for a lot of smaller guys to do more athletic, interesting, and entertaining stuff.
Working for Tommy Dreamer at House of Hardcore: Tommy Dreamer is a genius promoter. He (does) truly what is best for business. He makes smart business decisions and he gives the fans what they want. House of Hardcore will blow away any of the other promotions on November 9.
Meeting and working with his wife, Reby Sky: Reby and I first spoke online after a fan introduced us via Twitter. Were having a blast together. Were newly married, we travel together, and were big on promoting ourselves and branding ourselves as SkyHard. Were enjoying being our own boss. Were very public people. Were both big tweeters, we love social media; we mesh very well. When it comes to oversharing, were both on the same page.
His future in wrestling: For so long, I felt like I was in a wrestling bubble. You (always fight) to move up a level, to be on tv, to be a champ, etc. Ive dropped all that right now, and I truly enjoy what Im doing right now. I dont want to be under contract. I dont deal with politics, I dont deal with stress, and Im having fun again. If it leads me back to Ring of Honor, or TNA, or WWE, then so be it; but thats not my end game.
The state of the wrestling business: Nothings extremely red hot or extremely stable right now. WWE is set; its not going anywhere its always going to be around. People will always complain, but they have so many corporate sponsors and nothing is going to happen with them. There is a lot of speculation about TNA right now, there are a lot of rumors going around; I dont know anything personally. In my opinion, the better TNA does, the better it is for business. Wrestling is a little hokey nowadays compared to what it should be, but thats because TV is so advanced. You cant insult viewers intelligence; you can go online and find out anything.
Guys that can carry the torch: John Cena is the modern day Hulk Hogan in many ways. He takes someones finish, he kicks out, and is almost indestructible. Its always the right guy, in the right place, at the right time. Take Stone Cold Steve Austin: He was an (average guy) in WCW, and he went to the WWE and was the right guy in the right place at the right time to become Stone Cold Steve Austin. Wrestling is still waiting for that next guy to change the direction, to change the business, and make things white hot again.
What will make wrestling boom again: The content needs to be more sophisticated stories that dont insult the viewers intelligence. The stories need to be more consistent. You cant insult the fans intelligence. With the power of the Internet, people know everything. If you insult peoples intelligence, theyll hit the off button on the remote and that will be it.
- Regarding TNA being for sale, Prowrestling.net is now reporting that there is indeed a person who has serious interest in TNA. This person is described as someone fans would know and someone that may surprise us. The party who is interested in buying TNA reportedly has money behind them and was described as intelligent. TNA doesn't necessarily have a "for sale" sign up but they are listening to this potential buyer and others. There are also rumors that a major celebrity may be interested in purchasing TNA.
- With Eric Bischoff out of the picture, TNA creative going forward will be in the hands of writers Matt Conway and Dave Lagana. The guys maneuvering the creative direction will be John Gaburick and Jeff Jarrett, who has had a lot more and more input as of late.
Former TNA knockout Roxxi announced that she will be retiring from professional wrestling. Her last match is scheduled to take place on December 6th, 2013 at the Lucky Promotions Pro Wrestling show in Clinton Massachusetts.
Serious potential candidate to purchase TNA Wrestling?
There are serious sale talks going on behind the scenes. After we reported it over the weekend, a lot of places ran with borderline ridiculous stories. What I can say at this point is that there is a potential buyer that has been looking at the company. Reps for the potential new ownership group have been at the offices. Talk of a potential sale has been going on for months, but has reached a serious enough point where things are at a significant stage. It is not entirely clear who will end up in power and run the company if and when the deal being negotiated goes through, and what percentage of the company, or if the entire company, is what is being negotiated.
One source with significant knowledge of what is going down said the new group is unlikely to get involved without owning a controlling interest. Also, regarding speculation in various media of names involved, all of the speculation is way off, that much I know. It doesn't appear Viacom has any interest in buying the company (even though TNA gets far better ratings than Bellator, it's not as valuable because it can't get the corporate sponsors or ad revenue) and the parties involved come from outside the pro wrestling industry. The people who have at least been negotiating the most seriously are not from Viacom. The people involved have been successful in a number of other businesses. Just my gut says they are buying it more as a television property with the idea that future rights fees as those number escalate for sports will make it valuable.
Title Change & Return at Tonight's WWE HIAC Posted by Steve Carrier on 10/27/2013 at 10:26 PM
- Kane returned to action at tonight's WWE Hell In a Cell pay-per-view, making the save for The Miz while Erick Rowan and Luke Harper of The Wyatt Family beat him down. Kane ended the segment by laying The Miz out with a chokeslam. Here is a photo:

Eric Bischoff Being Paid to Sit at Home Posted by Steve Carrier on 10/29/2013 at 01:37 PM
Dave Meltzer mentioned on the latest installment of Wrestling Observer Radio that Eric Bischoff was sent home and will get paid for the remainder of his contract, which is expires early next year. Meltzer also noted that Bischoff is out of power and is "gone."
"He wasn't at the PPV, [he] wasn't at the last TV, [he] won't be around," Meltzer said. "A lot of people are really happy on that one, Eric was not very well liked there. Eric got exposed... Eric was very lucky that he had some very smart people propping him up in the WCW days and those people aren't there now, and he got exposed on this run real bad."
- Originally the scheduled main event for Monday's Raw was to have Cody Rhodes and Goldust vs. The Shield in a Handicap Match. Vince McMahon changed creative plans over the course of the day, as a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship was instead announced for this Sunday at Hell in a Cell (Cody Rhodes and Goldust will defend their belts against The Shield and the Uso brothers) and United States Champion Dean Ambrose vs. Daniel Bryan was added to the show at the last minute.
- Dean Ambrose appeared to have tweaked his knee after being tossed out of the ring during his match against Daniel Bryan. He was limping slightly backstage following the match, but it is not considered serious.
- There was a lot of talk backstage of CM Punk appearing hurt after his tag-team match on Raw.
