- Speaking of SmackDown, according to data compiled by Neilson Media Research, last night's edition did a 2.7 overnight rating. This is what the show has been doing in recent weeks.
Shelton Benjamin def. Kane (Count-out) Chuck Palumbo def. Jamie Noble Jesse & Festus def. Deuce & Domino Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder def. Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore Batista, Undertaker & Finlay vs. Big Daddy V, The Great Khali & United States Champion MVP (No Contest)
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas Batista, the only SmackDown participant who has fought in the Elimination Chamber before, opened SmackDown by telling our fans that he meant what he said last week: He would win the unprecedented second Chamber at No Way Out. The other participants, however, didnt share the same view as The Animal, and the dissent led to a Six-Man Tag Match later in the night.
United States Champion MVP was the first to voice his displeasure, followed by Big Daddy V and his mouthpiece, Matt Striker. The Great Khali entered the arena to show his dissent, as did Finlay. Suddenly, the lights then went out, and Undertaker appeared in the ring ready to show his dominance. The Chamber at No Way Out is going to be literally the biggest ever, with the combined weight of the Superstars equaling nearly a ton.
Instead of an all out brawl to begin SmackDown, the six Chamber opponents were put into a Six-Man Tag Team Match with the Irishman, The Animal and The Phenom teaming up to face The Dominating Force in WWE, the Punjabi giant and the Ballin Superstar. With each man trying to gain momentum before the Elimination Chamber, the tension in the ring was as intense as the action.
When it looked as if Khali and his partners had the match in hand, Finlay turned the tables, nailing the 7-foot-3, 420 pound giant with his shillelagh. All hell broke loose, and no Superstar could trust the others, evident by the stare down between Batista, Finlay and Undertaker. But the message was sent by all the participants: There will be no intimidation and no way out as they will all fend for themselves in the Elimination Chamber on Feb. 17.
Bringing the crazy One Superstar who stayed true to his own personal mission is Chuck Palumbo. Last week, the revved-up Superstar warned Michelle McCool that whatever he did to Jamie Noble would be her fault and that he would make her watch. On SmackDown, Palumbo lived up to his word when he defeated Noble for the first time and then unleashed a maniacal assault on the already weakened Noble.
Despite McCools desperate plea, Palumbo destroyed her friend Jamie Noble, even making our fans and McCool believe he was unhinged enough as he teased running over Noble with his motorcycle. Noble injury update...
Paper or plastic? The returning Jesse & Festus hoped to pick up where they left off a few weeks ago before they left SmackDown to seek help for Festus changing personalities. Paraded out in a paper bag by Jesse, Festus new look was ultimately unveiled, and the face of the returning Superstar seemed to remain the same. Another thing that didnt seem to change was the focus of Festus when the bell rang, which gave the Biscuits n Gravy duo the victory over the boys from the Other Side of the Tracks.
Fire extinguished Two weeks ago on ECW on Sci Fi, Kane defeated ECWs Gold Standard Shelton Benjamin by count-out. On SmackDown, Benjamin returned the favor, albeit inadvertently. After a thunderous blow that sent Shelton flying back into the ring, Kane was unable to answer the referees 10-count, giving Shelton the victory. Will these two Superstars continue to clash, and will Kane find a way to bring to a halt the man who claims, There aint no stoppin me?
Two for the road Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder continued their recent string of successes with another win over Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore. Hawkins & Ryders rise to prominence in the tag team division was at the expense of SmackDowns resident redneck & Moore, who have now lost two straight to Edges cohorts.
Uneasy return World Heavyweight Champion Edge hosted another edition of The Cutting Edge on SmackDown, this time to welcome back his lover, General Manager Vickie Guerrero. The Rated-R Superstar claims to have a life altering question for Vickie next week on SmackDown, but his focus on this night was Rey Mysterio. The GM was returning after being injured by Mysterio at Royal Rumble, and the reunited lovers demanded Rey apologize to Guerrero.
The Master of the 619 did what he could to show his heartfelt apologies, but what ensued was the Ultimate Opportunist trying to take out his No Way Out opponent before their championship clash on Feb. 17. Read the whole story

Stephanie McMahon pregnant once again? Posted by Bobby Spade on 02/06/2008 at 11:43 AM
There is a rumor making its way around the Internet that Stephanie McMahon is pregnant again with her second child. I have not been able to confirm the story but I was told that this was not Triple Hs family emergency that caused him to miss the RAW tapings in Austin, Texas this past Monday night. According to the rumor, Stephanie is approximately four weeks pregnant, but that has not been confirmed.
Victoria & Layla def. Kelly Kelly & Michelle McCool John Morrison def. Tommy Dreamer Kofi Kingston def. James Curtis CM Punk def. ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero (Gulf of Mexico Match; non-title)
Revenge was the theme Tuesday night in the sold-out American Bank Center, whether Superstars were looking for payback in retribution of lost gold or for damaged pride.
For months, yo-yo-like Colin Delaney has been the epitome of effort, rising back to his feet after every time hes been knocked down. His desire in spite of physical consequences has been admirable, to say the least. Still, parents may hesitate to call him role model material for fear of their children experiencing similar pain. Last week, fortunes changed when Tommy Dreamer rushed to Delaneys side to fight off attacks from the WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz.
This week, Dreamer promised to exact revenge on the champions, but he fell short when he took on the Shaman of Sexy in one-on-one action. When The Miz attacked Delaney outside of the ring, it distracted Dreamer long enough for Morrison to cover him. Regardless of the ECW Originals loss, things are looking up for the hopeful Superstar, now that he has a friend in a high place.
Kelly Kelly and Michelle McCool make up another recent friendship based on watching each others backs. Their rivals prevailed once again, though, and may continue to now that Victoria & Layla appear to have drafted Lena Yadas services. Lena proved to be valuable when she tripped up Kelly, leading to Victoria's cover and three-count on the blonde.
In other ECW action, Kofi Kingston remained undefeated since joining the roster. His win against James Curtis marked his third in as many tries as he has stayed true to his promise of overcoming any trouble he may come across in paradise.
Just before Kingstons contest, Joey Styles sat down with Stevie Richards, who announced great news well, great for everyone except those who stand in the way of the recovered competitor. The ECW Original is primed to make his return to ECW on Sci Fi next week. His homecoming takes place nine months after his injury that landed him in the hospital for throat surgery. (WATCH) Learn more about Stevie's surgery ...
The nights main event set the stage for No Way Out. CM Punk tossed ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero into the Gulf of Mexico. The Straightedge Superstar also has a title opportunity against his successor at the next pay-per-view event. (WATCH) More on this story
What further developments will take place just five days before the pay-per-view? Find out on ECW on Sci Fi, Tuesday at 10/9 CT.
Mickie James & Kelly Kelly def. Women's Champion Beth Phoenix & Victoria Mr. Kennedy def. Super Crazy Carlito & Santino Marella def. Paul London & Brian Kendrick World Tag Team Champions Harcore Holly & Cody Rhodes def. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho & Shawn Michaels def. Umaga, JBL and Snitsky John Cena vs. Mark Henry arm wrestling match (no contest)
This weeks Raw offered a sneak peek at the possible carnage yet to come at No Way Out in less than two weeks. When Raw Superstars involved in one of the Elimination Chamber Matches at No Way Out began to try to make their points physically on why they deserve to be in the main event at WrestleMania and challenge the WWE Champion, General Manager William Regal interrupted the skirmish to inform them that they would be competing that night in a Six-Man Tag Team Match.
Regal arranged for Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels to battle Umaga, JBL and the yuck-mouthed ogre Snitsky, a Superstar not included in the Elimination Chamber Match but determined to prove that he deserves a spot.
With the winner of the Elimination Chamber Match earning an opportunity to compete in the main event at WrestleMania XXIV, each man was eager to prove he had what it takes to compete for the WWE Championship. When the dust had settled, though, it was the Rainbow-haired Warrior who dropped a Swanton Bomb onto Snitsky for the three-count and the momentum leading up to No Way Out. Photos | Watch
Aggravated Assault Mickie James let off some pent-up steam this week. In a Divas Tag Team Match pitting her & ECWs Kelly Kelly against current Womens Champion Beth Phoenix & SmackDowns Victoria, Mickie unleashed her mounting frustrations by handling Victoria and pinning her for the three-count. Photos
Surrender Not An Option A keyed up Mr. Kennedy toppled his foe, Super Crazy, with an Inverted Figure Four Leglock before mocking his No Way Out opponent, Ric Flair, for suffering a knee injury during a match with United States Champion, MVP. The loudmouth from Green Bay, Wis., then called out the 16-time World Champion and told him it would be OK were he to forfeit. Photos
World Domination The international pairing of Carlito & Santino Marella continue to surprise onlookers: This week the two topped former WWE Tag Team Champions Paul London & Brian Kendrick. Things began to look up even more when the Caribbean Bad Apple and the Italian Stallion confronted Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes later in the night
Contending With Trouble In a non-title bout, World Tag Team Champions Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes prevailed over Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch. Then the duo of Carlito & Santino informed the reigning champions that they had been named the new No. 1 contenders for the title.
Kiss Me, Im Irish Tough love never looked so hated. As punishment for skirting the Royal Rumble Match, Mr. McMahon wanted his bastard son Hornswoggle to join the Kiss My Ass Club. When it came time for the little guy to pucker, though, Finlay interrupted. After much yelling from Mr. McMahon, Hornswoggle finally leaned in and bit his freshly buffed buttocks. As retaliation, the Chairman not only arranged a No Disqualification Match against him and Hornswoggle, he also informed Finlay that if he interfered he would be fired.
Arm Wrestle-Mania After suffering a dastardly RKO at the hands of Randy Orton earlier in the night, John Cena gathered his wits enough to compete against Mark Henry in an Arm Wrestling Match. Cena and Henry were practically evenly-matched, but we will never know who would have won. Orton interjected himself again, only to be chased away by Cena. The Champ then sent the WWE Champion a message by tossing the Worlds Strongest Man with a 400-pound FU.
WWE has released the following developmental wrestlers:
- George "G-Rilla" Murdoch - Antoni Polaski a.k.a. "ECW Original" Amish Roadkill - "Badseed" Shawn Osborne (Shawn McGrath) - Robert Anthony - Cassidy Riley
Polaski most recently appeared in OVW before disappearing from their shows sometime within the last year. The other three individuals are wrestlers from Florida Championship Wrestling.
Cassidy Riley has been added to the list of those fired today. Riley was a former TNA star.
Apparently, there might be even more cuts. Some other names have popped up, but we're waiting for confirmation on them.
