Latest On Gail Kim Leaving TNA - Possibly Returning To WWE? Written by Richard Gray on Aug 21, 2008 - 11:02:05 AM
As Luke reported earlier here at Wrestling News World, Gail Kim is finished with TNA Wrestling. Her final match on Impact will air tonight as she will be featured in a Street Fight against Awesome Kong. The match was taped last Wednesday from Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.
I was told that Gail Kim's TNA contract recently expired and negotiations between her and the promotion fell through which resulted in her release. I have heard that there is interest in WWE about bringing Gail Kim back and that there could be an offer on the table.
There has been interest in Kim within WWE for several months as company officials are well aware of the success that TNA has had with their Knockout division which has been built around Kim. Kim denied rumors that she would be leaving TNA for WWE back in May, however, it should be noted that she was under TNA contract at that point.
Kim posted a new blog on her MySpace page on Tuesday but mentioned nothing about her status with TNA Wrestling.
Team 3D's TNA contracts are expiring next month and the two sides are currently in the process of negotiating a new deal, reports ProWrestling.NET. The two sides hope to finalize the team's contracts before they expire. TNA is said to be confident in re-signing the duo as WWE doesn't appear to have much interest in bringing the former Dudley Boyz back to the company. Devon is well liked by people in WWE, but Brother Ray has rubbed a lot of people in the rival company the wrong way. One source said, "Devon is guilty by association. No one in WWE has any ill will or bad feelings toward Devon, but Bubba is a detriment to his career." Perhaps the biggest knock against the former Bubba Ray Dudley is that he has a reputation for taking liberties with young wrestlers.
The United Kingdoms Evening Post is reporting that WWE has signed Rob Terry to a three-year developmental contract. Rob Terry is a 28-year-old weightlifting champion from Wales and moved to America last October taking part in a special training program. He is currently signed to Florida Championship Wrestling.
Rob Terry is 6ft 5ins and 285 pounds, he caught Vince McMahons eye after winning virtually every natural bodybuilding event in Britain and Europe according to the article.
"It was quite daunting at first because I had no experience," he said. "I'm signed up to the Florida Championship Wrestling franchise, which is the feeder to the WWE. Some of the other guys there have been on the amateur wrestling circuit for years."
"I also got to go along to Wrestlemania, which was mind-blowing because I got to chat one-on-one with some big names like Triple H. He was a really down-to-earth guy and it was great to meet him because he is one of my heroes. He's also built very big like me and gave me plenty of good advice. Terry said.
He also added, "I know it's going to take time to get there, but I'm determined to make it in WWE."
Sometime this fall Mr. Kennedys WWE contract will be expiring and many wouldnt be surprised to see WWE let Kennedy go considering how this past year has been for him.
The Miz, John Morrison & Chavo Guerrero def. Evan Bourne, Super Crazy & Tommy Dreamer Ricky Ortiz def. Gavin Spears ECW Champion Mark Henry def. Matt Hardy
QUAD CITIES, Ill. The Worlds Strongest Champion is still the king of the Land of the Extreme. In a brutal SummerSlam rematch on ECW on Sci Fi, ECW Champion Mark Henry defeated Matt Hardy, as Henrys ally, WWE Hall of Famer Tony Atlas, once again did more than just look on.
Henry and Hardys title match at SummerSlam was cut short when Atlas attacked Hardy, leaving Henry to retain ECW gold on Sunday. After Atlas assault, Hardys brother, Jeff, rushed to aid his sibling, and then hit the WWE Hall of Famer. Finally, the brothers leveled Henry with a double-suplex. But these actions werent enough to sideline the Worlds Strongest Champion in his mission to retain ECW gold.
Despite the 150-pound weight difference between Hardy and Henry, Hardys inner strength and passion makes up for his smaller size. But that passion wasnt enough for Hardy this week, especially with Atlas at ringside. The WWE Hall of Famer interfered in the title match more than once, which the referee never saw. Despite a strong fight, Hardy fell victim to a Worlds Strongest Slam, leading Henry to retain the ECW Championship. (WATCH)
Also on Tuesday night, Tommy Dreamer, Evan Bourne & Super Crazy teamed up in tag action against John Morrison, The Miz & Chavo Guerrero, who was accompanied by his bodyguard, Bam Neely. After Morrison held down Dreamers foot, leading him to become entangled in the ring ropes, The Miz delivered a neckbreaker off the ropes to pin the ECW Original for the tag team win.
Ricky Ortiz kept his undefeated streak alive on ECW. With his Ricky O. Rally Towel in hand, the flashy, brash newcomer picked up his fourth straight victory, much to the delight of the his fans the Rick n Rollers waving Rally Towels throughout the arena. Ortiz defeated the debuting Gavin Spears, another newcomer who calls himself the crown jewel of ECWs New Superstar Initiative. Also debuting was ECW referee Aaron Davis, who arrived in the Land of the Extreme as part of General Manager Theodore Longs New Superstar Initiative.
Finally, the rivalry between Mike Knox and Finlay heated up during an intense confrontation. Knox, who accused Finlay of going soft because of his relationship with his son, Hornswoggle, was once again invited to join the man who loves to fight who was without his trusty shillelagh in the ECW ring. But the Desert Destroyer refused, accusing Finlay of being afraid, stating hed make his move when hes good and ready. Since Knox wouldnt get in the ring for a second time, the Belfast Brawler stepped out and attacked Knox on the ramp, leading to an all-out brawl, which had to be stopped by several WWE officials. By the order of GM Long, Knox and Finlay will finally bring their differences to the ECW ring during a match on next weeks ECW on Sci Fi.
In a peculiar deal, Gail Kim's profile has been quietly removed from the TNA website. When you go to her profile page, you get the standard "You are not authorized to view this resource" page, which is what happens to the profile pages after a wrestler parts ways with TNA.
Perhaps proving that the removal of her profile wasn't some sort of accident or error, all of her Knockouts photos have been removed as well. When you go to the Knockouts photo section, Gail's page is nowhere to be found.
TNA almost never announces company departures on the website, so there is no way of knowing what the deal is with missing talent unless you go to a wrestling news website such as NoDQ. In fact, the only "future endeavors" notes they have announced over the past year were done to further angles involving Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian so they could be written off of television.
It was announced on September 6, 2006 that Gail Kim had a signed a contract with TNA. If by chance her contract were to expire, it would probably be around this time. Team 3D signed three-year deals during this time frame, so perhaps she had the same contract length as well. Talent rarely get four-year deals, five-year deals are usually long, and we never heard anything about Gail renewing her contract on a year-to-year basis, so her original contract was likely a three-year deal.
Gail is scheduled to wrestle Awesome Kong in a Street Fight on tomorrow night's Impact, which was taped last Wednesday. She is still named in the preview that is up on the site.

World Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match D-Lo Brown def. Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella by disqualification Chris Jericho def. World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk in a non-title match
CHICAGO When Raw rolled into World Heavyweight Champion CM Punks hometown on Monday night, the Straightedge Superstar was riding high after his successful title defense against JBL at SummerSlam. By the end of the night, however, things were looking more grim. Not only did General Manager Mike Adamle set an unprecedented Championship Scramble with Punk facing off against John Cena, Batista, Kane and JBL at Unforgiven, but the Straightedge Champion also suffered a defeat at the hands of Chris Jericho. (WATCH)
With no remorse Though Raws main event saw him defeat the World Heavyweight Champion in a non-title match (with some help from Lance Cade), Chris Jericho made an appearance earlier in the night as well. WWEs first-ever Undisputed Champion addressed the events of SummerSlam, during which Jericho accidentally clobbered Shawn Michaels wife with a punch meant for HBK. Jericho urged The Showstopper to concentrate on comforting his family and stay at home.
Currently, it is unclear whether Michaels will take his rivals advice. Following SummerSlam, in an exclusive interview with Michael Cole, HBK made clear his plans to go home and comfort his family, but seemed to have something else in mind as he intensely added and then then (WATCH)
Kanes pRey One of World Heavyweight Champion CM Punks most lethal Championship Scramble opponents, Kane, continued his reign of terror on Raw, and admitted to brutalizing Rey Mysterio, whose mask the Big Red Monster had been carrying around in a burlap sack. Kane claimed to have attacked the Master of the 619 for being a fungus that grows in the marshes of your psyche.
Soon after, Mysterios former tag team partner and good friend, Batista, rushed the ring and attacked the Big Red Monster. In spite of The Animals fury, Kane managed to gain the advantage due to Batistas injured leg. Though he was unable to get the upper hand with Kane, Batista did fight through the injury sustained against John Cena at SummerSlam to defeat Paul Burchill in a match-up earlier in the night. (WATCH)
It takes a thief Also picking up momentum leading up to the Championship Scramble was John Cena, who beat the odds by defeating World Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match. Before the match even began, Cenas allies, Cryme Tyme, emerged and stole the coveted titles from the champions. Though they outnumbered the Chain Gang Commander, Rhodes & DiBiases arrogance got the best of them, allowing Cena to pick up the win and gain some matter of redemption following his SummerSlam loss to Batista. (WATCH)
Battle of the loudmouths JBL, the fifth participant in the Championship Scramble also competed on Monday night, as the Longhorn Loudmouth faced off against another Superstar who loves to sound off: Jamie Noble. Though Noble brought his characteristic ferocity and tenacity, it wasnt enough to defeat the self-proclaimed wrestling god JBL, who landed three powerful Clotheslines from Hell and was awarded the win after the referee was forced to end the match.
Electric Glamarella Following their win at SummerSlam, the couple known as Glamarella are decked out in championship gold, with Santino Marella holding the Intercontinental Title and Beth Phoenix wearing the WWE Womens Title around her waist. Santino was unable to continue his winning streak however, as he lost to D-Lo Brown by disqualification when The Glamazon interfered in the match, brazenly slapping D-Lo in the center of the ring.
Afterward, as chaos broke out, former Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston took revenge on Santino for his SummerSlam loss, doling out a beating to the Italian Superstar. Before the match, in a WWE.com exclusive, Santino and Beth gave their gold acceptance speech. (WATCH)
Also on Raw Though they have both recently suffered defeat at the hands of Beth Phoenix, the team of former Womens Champion Mickie James & Kelly Kelly rallied and defeated their opponents, Katie Lea Burchill & Jillian, putting an end to Jillians tone-deaf singing. Also, appearing for the first-time on Raw, Carlitos little brother, Primo Colon spoke briefly with Mike Adamle before the GM rudely ran off to speak to John Cena.
As noted earlier, Carlitos brother Eddie Colon made his WWE television debut this week on Raw. He was featured in a brief cameo during a backstage segment with General Manager Mike Adamle. Colon, who has been working in WWE's developmental system, was referred to as Primo Colon. Colon has has worked for his family's World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico and is currently at Florida Championship Wrestling, where he and Eric Perez are the tag champions.
Shawn Michaels' real-life wife Rebecca took a stiff shot by Chris Jericho and had a nasty fat lip that really swelled up when she arrived backstage after the segment.
-- CM Punk was busted open the hardway when JBL fell back and their heads clashed. That looked nasty during the replay they showed. I'm sure Punk needed stitches after that and likely had one hell of a headache.
-- I don't have this confirmed by anyone just yet but I heard from one source that JBL may have injured one of his arms. His fingers were shaking real bad during and after the match backstage. I'm told there was a tingling feeling at points during the the match. Stuff like that can be associated with the neck and back. I'll try to confirm this tomorrow.
-- Santino's unabrow is somewhat of a backstage rib which is why they really emphasized it at SummerSlam during the backstage segment.
From Cait: Just thought I'd pass along the information that over on the hardyshow.com message board the topic of Jeff Hardy's "broken neck" that was reported by Dave Meltzer came up. Tamran who is a reliable source of Hardy information said the following
"not true....jeff is injured, he's having some elbow issues that's why he was pulled off things this weekend. so he can be at the PPV on sunday." This would make more sense, not sure why the store was telling people he had a broken neck.

As noted earlier tonight here on the site, Jeff Hardy reportedly suffered a broken neck at Tuesday night's SmackDown/ECW taping. He was scheduled to do an autograph signing at a Best Buy in Rockford, Illinois yesterday, but Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase replaced him. Hardy was also advertised for last night's house show in Rockford, but did not appear. WWE.com is still advertising the Jeff Hardy vs. MVP match for tomorrow night's SummerSlam pay-per-view.
