Jeff Hardy was interviewed this week by Charleston's The Post and Carrier newspaper. Hardy revealed that his body is in real bad shape. "My ankles are really weak. A lot of that stems from motocross in the past. I've got a (bone) chip in my right kneecap now, pain in my elbows and two herniated discs in my neck and my back. I'm not feeling great, but I've been extremely lucky that I've gone this far without surgery. So I'll just keep knocking on metal or wood."

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. With just 48 hours until Royal Rumble, the SmackDown Superstars were upping their game in preparation for the showdown at Madison Square Garden. Among those ready to clash in the Big Apple are two of WWEs biggest athletes the 6-foot, 10-1/2-inch Undertaker and the 500-pound man-mountain from Harlem, N.Y., Big Daddy V.
But on Friday night, it was The Deadman who displayed his dominance. Using a submission move never seen before, Undertaker defeated V, leaving him with blood flowing from his mouth and requiring the Worlds Strongest Man, Mark Henry, to help him exit the ring. Somehow, The Phenom always finds a way to win. Will he find a similar way to defeat the 29 other men come Royal Rumble?
Bold statements In addition to The Phenom, Batista another serious Rumble contender and former World Heavyweight Champion grabbed the SmackDown mic to let everyone know about his chances of being the last man standing in New York City. Making a bold prediction, the 2005 Rumble winner proclaimed, Im putting every competitor on notice. History is going to repeat itself.
Belfast brawl On last weeks SmackDown, Finlay was on the receiving end of The Great Khalis brutal Vise Grip, which almost crushed the Fighting Irishmans cranium. To potentially allow Finlay to get some payback, the Chairman set up a no-rules Belfast Brawl between the two. Revenge came swiftly and severely when the Chairmans illegitimate son, Hornswoggle, looked to be in danger of being slammed into the announce table by Khali. This launched Finlay into a relentless attack; using his shillelagh, fists, boot and a chair, he opened a wound on the Punjabi giants forehead. Will Finlay be able to carry this aggression forward and use it to his advantage in the Rumble?
For Hornswoggle to survive the 30-man over-the-top rope Royal Rumble, hell surely need Finlay at his side. But, according to the Chairman, Hornswoggle cannot trust the Fighting Irishman. In the locker room area, Mr. McMahon pulled his son aside and advised him not to trust anyone in Royal Rumble. Your last name isnt Finlay, he said. Your last name is McMahon, and dont you ever forget it.
A glimpse into the future? Days before the Career Threatening Match at Royal Rumble, the verbal battle between Ric Flair and United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter continued on SmackDown. Taking a sarcastic look into Flairs future, MVP taunted Naitch with what it might look like, including the Nature Boy playing shuffleboard in his retirement. Flair brushed off MVPs prognosticating and flatly proclaimed he is not ready to retire, not ready to go home. All the talk will come to a head on Sunday, when Flairs fate in WWE is decided. If Flair defeats MVP, the Nature Boy carries on. Lose, and he must retire, as per the Chairman.
Divided they fall In a Six-Person Tag Team Match, Chuck Palumbo, Jamie Noble & Michelle McCool were set to face off against The Miz, John Morrison & Layla. But, before the match could really get going, McCools team got into trouble early. While bickering in the middle of the ring, Palumbo shoved Noble against the ropes, launching Michelle off the apron and down to the ground. With the match stopped for medical staff to check on Michelles condition, Chuck seemed to snap, delivering a vicious beating to Noble, his own teammate. After recovering, McCool tried to intervene, only to have Palumbo ruthlessly throw her to the ground again this time requiring emergency medical technicians to take her out of the arena on a stretcher. Later, as Michelle was brought to a waiting ambulance, Noble apologized for how things went down.
Professional help For fans wondering where Jesse and Festus have been in recent SmackDown action, Jesse offered an explanation. In an effort to help with his bizarre personalities, Festus is seeking professional help. Best friend Jesse explained there is the calm, cool and reserved Festus. And then there is the crazy, madman Festus. Which will we see when Festus gets well?
SmackDown in HD On the debut of SmackDown in HD, fans saw Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore defeat Deuce & Domino in tag team action. Also, fans learned that next week, Eve winner of the 2007 WWE Diva Search will be coming to SmackDown in HD.
Ready to Rumble With Royal Rumble just two days away, Rey Mysterio faced off against both Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder in a Handicap Match and got the win. Later, reigning World Heavyweight Champion Edge speared his way to victory over CM Punk, while Mysterio joined Michael Cole and Jonathan Coachman at ringside to watch it all unfold. In just two days, a sold out Madison Square Garden will be watching as the two do battle for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Shelton Benjamin def. Kane, Tommy Dreamer, The Miz & John Morrison (Over-the-Top Rope Challenge) Kelly Kelly def. Layla and Lena Yada (Best Body Contest) Kofi Kingston def. local The Great Khali def. Colin Delaney Chavo Guerrero def. CM Punk (No DQ; new champion)
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. With all eyes on new ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero, Shelton Benjamin could be targeting Guerreros newly-won gold. Benjamin proved once again there aint no stopping him, as he was victorious in an Over-the-Top Rope Challenge on ECW, edging out fellow Royal Rumble participants. The Gold Standard showed his athleticism on Tuesday night, and his winning streak could continue into the 30-man game of endurance Sunday at the Rumble. Is it Benjamins time? Can he win the Rumble match?
Also on Tuesday, Kofi Kingston made his ECW debut. The Jamaican Superstar was victorious over a local contender, and looked ready to take care of any trouble that may arise in the Extreme paradise called ECW. (WATCH)
Speaking of paradise Kelly Kelly, Layla and Lena Yada competed in a Best Body Contest on Tuesday night, and the Divas looked even more perfect in HDTV. Our fans declared Kelly Kelly the winner through their cheers, but Layla and Lena werent pleased. Layla knocked Kelly Kelly face-first to the mat, with Lena by her side.
In other action, an injured and bandaged Colin Delaney returned to ECW for a fifth time, facing another one of sports-entertainments giants, The Great Khali. According to Bobby Lashleys official website www.BobbyLashleyOnline.com, the former ECW Champion has parted ways with World Wrestling Entertainment.
Lashley wrote the following in a forum post:
I am sorry to everyone here but I am serious when I say I won't be back. Everyone wants to come here and hear the real story and I am telling you the real story. Circumstances which are out of my control left me no decision but to leave the WWE. I can't go into details of this now but like I said before sometimes people will hate you personally and try to destroy you which has happened here. Evil has prevailed however like I said before if you continue your struggle doors will open around these people. You have not scene the last of me so please don't stop your support. Add Bobby Lashley to the list of RECENTLY RELEASED!
Lashley would not comment on whether or not he would be interested in going to TNA Wrestling. He said that WWE has granted his release but it would not be announced until the paperwork was finalized.
The latest on the Bobby Lashley situation is that he has definitely informed WWE that he wants to leave the company. There are a lot of reasons for him wanting to do so. The word we have gotten is that part of it has to do with how his girlfriend Kristal Marshall was treated by the company when she balked at being paired with Edge and doing the Lita gimmick, and was then quickly released. Let's just say that there is a line of thought that at least part of why she didn't want to do the angle was fear of a racial element being added to the storyline by the Smackdown creative staff.
There also appears to be other issues behind the scenes where Lashley reportedly feels like he hasn't been treated well himself while he has been out rehabbing. There is said to have been little communication between Lashley and Vince McMahon and no firm plans in place to get him back on TV now that his injury has healed and this was frustrating to him.
At this point, Lashley needs to negotiate an official release from WWE as he is still under contract (and thus is still listed on the company website). As always in this business, things can change at the drop of a hat but for now, his plan is to move on from WWE and then plan the next phase of his life.
Thanks to Kevin Dowlen who attended last night's WWE Monday Night Raw in Hampton for sending this in:
After the show went off the air, Jeff Hardy started walking up the entrance ramp taunting Orton, and Umaga came out and beat him into the ring. Orton and Umaga were double-teaming Hardy until Jericho came down and made the save. Hardy ended up Swantoning Orton in the ring as Jericho was fighting Umaga outside the ring. Jericho and Hardy hugged and posed in the ring for a while. Jericho even got Hardy to teach him that weird dance he does when he comes out from behind the curtain; they both did that for a while in the ring as Hardys music played. Hardy and Jericho both shook hands with fans at ring-side well after the show was over, and Jericho was there signing autographs, shaking hands, and taking pictures for a good twenty minutes after Raw ended. Seems like a class act.
As for the Heat tapings, Vladimir Koslov killed some local jobber from Hampton. Hacksaw Jim Duggan squashed another presumably local guy. The last match was Charlie Haas vs. Super Crazy. Haas went under the ring during the match and put a mask on for no good reason. And he and Crazy kept pulling it off and putting it back on as the match went along. Haas ended up winning by submission. Terrible matches all around.
- WWE.com is polling readers whether Tommy Dreamer should "get what he asked for" where he wrote in his column last week about wanting to be used by the company more. As of writing, 94% of the visitors said that Dreamer should be used more.
Shawn Michaels def. Mr. Kennedy Women's Champion Beth Phoenix def. Mickie James Finlay & Hornswoggle def. The Highlanders Umaga def. Brian Kendrick Carlito def. Hardcore Holly Triple H def. Snitsky, Mark Henry and William Regal (Over-the-Top Rope Gauntlet Match)
HAMPTON, Va. The road to redemption was a rocky one for Triple H on Monday night. The 11-time World Champion needed to overcome three daunting roadblocks before he could reclaim a spot at this Sundays Royal Rumble Match.
After displaying a menacing unpredictability last week, Mr. McMahon offered his rival a second and final chance to qualify for this Sundays Royal Rumble. The Chairman, however, gave no indication of who The Game might face or what type of match he would be competing in.
He found out soon enough. Raw General Manager William Regal told him hed arranged an Over-The-Top Rope Gauntlet Match, requiring The Game to throw three opponents over the top rope, Royal Rumble-style.
The first barrier in The Games path to the Rumble was the yellow-toothed ogre, Snitsky. The yuck-mouthed monster was determined to avenge himself from last week, when Triple H repeatedly struck him with his sledgehammer. But Triple Hs resolve proved too steely to overcome, and Snitsky found himself hurled from the ring.
Next up, Regal introduced another massive obstacle, SmackDowns Mark Henry. The Worlds Strongest Man assaulted his opponent with a series of thunderous blows. But a beaten down Cerebral Assassin pulled down the top rope and tricked Henry into propelling himself out of the ring.
Two down, one to go. The final opponent in the match was Regal himself. The Raw GM, who cost Triple H his Rumble spot to begin with, had suffered greatly at his hands two weeks ago in a First Blood Match. Monday night, the vengeful GM nearly toppled his opponent over the top rope before The Game managed to reverse course and send Regal out of the ring.
The Games three strikes, youre in comeback ensures him a spot at Royal Rumble and a possible look ahead at the main event at WrestleMania XXIV and a 12th World Championship.
Green Bay Decay First, his beloved Green Bay Packers lost their NFL Championship game on Sunday, then the following night, Mr. Kennedy dropped his match to Shawn Michaels. The Showstopper now takes both the momentum and the bragging rights from Monday nights match with him into this Sundays Royal Rumble. Video | Photos
Broken Promise Mickie James came out fired up this week, but ended up in a smoldering funk. She had vowed to pin Womens Champion Beth Phoenix a foe shes never defeated but she came up frustratingly short when The Glamazons size and strength advantage once again proved insurmountable. Video | Photos
Blueprint for Victory? Hornswoggle may have been given short odds for winning the Royal Rumble this Sunday, but he and Finlay proved just how the two could pull off the most unlikely of victories. The pair cooperated together against The Highlanders and managed to toss both of the Cousins McAllister over the top rope.
Wall of Words Chris Jericho returned to Raw this week after getting dragged across the floor by JBL with an electrical cord around his neck two weeks ago. Y2J lambasted the Lonestar Loudmouth for trying to scare his children and insisted he would not relent until he took out his rival.
Royal Letdown The excitement Brian Kendrick felt at earning a chance to qualify for the Royal Rumble quickly turned to dread when he learned that he would have to face Umaga. Despite a valiant effort, the high-flyer just couldnt soar above the challenge of the Samoan Bulldozer.
Trading Places Again Two weeks after their Trading Places Match, in which Hardcore Holly prevailed, Carlito and one-half of the current World Tag Team Champions once again faced off. Only this time, Carlito managed to overcome the powerful onslaught of Holly for the win.
Shake, Rattle and Roll At the insistence of Mr. McMahon, WWE Champion Randy Orton and Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy met in the squared circle to shake hands one week after the Rainbow-haired Warrior dropped a devastating Swanton Bomb onto Orton from 30 feet. Instead, Hardy shook the hands of nearly everyone in the arena except Orton. To cap things off, Hardy hit his nemesis with a Twist of Fate and left him rattled on the floor.
