Randy Orton has asked management for some time off from house shows. The story is that he's burned out. However, he still wants to work television and pay-per-views. Orton is penciled in for some top pay-per-view matches over the next few months. Orton's wife Samantha is expecting their first child in July, so you can see why he'd ask to be home more. Anyway, it is not known if his request has been granted, or for how long, although he was pulled from WWE's upcoming tour of Mexico.

Jonathan Coachman's WWE contract is expiring within the next few months. There has been quite a bit of speculation that Coachman could leave the company for a full-time job with MSG Network, although he hasn't said anything about it yet.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. For the first time in nearly three years, three titles were on the line in one big night on SmackDown the World Heavyweight Championship, the WWE Tag Team Championship and the United States Championship.
Fresh off Backlash, new United States Champion Matt Hardy found himself defending the gold just five days later in a rematch against former champion Montel Vontavious Porter. Fighting tenaciously, Hardy showed no signs that he was ready to relinquish the title any time soon. He sealed the deal and retained the gold by nailing his arch-rival with a Twist of Fate, further staking his claim that he is truly better than MVP. (WATCH)
WWE Tag Team Championship intact In recent weeks, all of the contestants in SmackDowns Tag Team Championship bout had crossed paths in the ring. But now it was time to settle the score when it really mattered. Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore kept the match close, but reigning champions John Morrison & The Miz were able to hold onto the gold thanks to a Moonlight Drive from the Shaman of Sexy to The Reject. (WATCH)
Foleys debut / Batistas warning In his SmackDown commentary debut, legendary Superstar Mick Foley welcomed Batista to the ring to talk about The Animals loss to Shawn Michaels at Backlash. After reviewing Chris Jerichos recent Highlight Reel where Y2J accused HBK of faking his injury at Backlash (WATCH) Batista issued a strong warning to HBK: Shawn, for your sake, I hope you are actually hurt. Because if youre not, when I see you, you will be.
Gigantic staredown As he prepared to face the Worlds Strongest Man, Mark Henry, Nunzio had some huge support in his corner none other than the Worlds Largest Athlete, Big Show. Unfortunately, it didnt help much, as Henry made quick work of Nunzio to get the win. But when Henry went to attack Nunzio further, Big Show jumped into the ring to ensure the Full Blooded Italians safety after the bell. The Worlds Strongest Man chose not to tangle with Big Show, however, and backed out of the ring. As Henry exited, Big Show expressed his displeasure with the match-up: Next time, why dont you try picking on somebody your own size? One can only wonder. Was this a challenge or a threat?
Heavy odds If you wanted to make a safe bet in Atlantic City, this was it. Take the undefeated Russian superpower, Vladimir Kozlov, over the winless Colin Delaney. After manhandling the diminutive upstart, Kozlov sealed the deal with a reverse DDT and pinfall. The 300-pounders SmackDown record now stands at 5-0. Who can stop this man-machine?
Celtic crushing Finlay seemed to have things under control in his match against Julio Dinero, but Hornswoggle decided to get into the act to help his father. After emerging from under the ring, Hornswoggle grabbed Dinero by both legs and tried to pull him under the ring. Dinero escaped Hornswoggles grasp, but eventually met his fate in the ring a pummeling Celtic Cross from Finlay and the pinfall. Hornswoggle then got his licks in as well, nailing Dinero with a Tadpole Splash.
Diva rivalry When four of SmackDowns Divas squared off in a tag match, it was clear that love wasnt in the air. After some heated tag and singles encounters in recent weeks, tonight it was the team of Victoria & Natalya that emerged victorious over Michelle McCool & Cherry when Natalya pinned the All-American Diva. (WATCH)
Edges cohorts get a win Usually, Edges cohorts Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins are busy taking care of the Rated-R Supertars conflicts. But tonight on SmackDown, they had some business of their own to deal with the corn-fed colossus, Festus, and his partner Jesse. In typical Festus fashion, the giant went berserk at the sound of the bell. But later in the tag team encounter, he was the target of a well-placed chop to the throat by Hawkins. Feeling the effects of the blow, Festus tagged out to Jesse, who Hawkins soon sent face first to the canvas with a swinging neckbreaker to get the pinfall.
Title turmoil In the third and biggest title match of the night, Undertaker was set to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against The Great Khali. But in a shocking move, SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero stripped The Phenom of this title before the match. According to the GM, the devastating submission hold The Deadman has been using to bloody his opponents is an illegal chokehold, so she banned that, too. The GM demanded that the champion surrender his title right then and there, but, unfortunately for The Great Khali, things got bloody ugly instead.

Ric Flair to run for U.S. President? Posted by Bobby Spade on 04/30/2008 at 01:44 PM
NewsObserver.com has posted an animated video proposing that Ric Flair should run for president of the United States with Dusty Rhodes as his VP. A preview for the video says, "In an effort to win over swing voters before the crucial Pennsylvania Primary, the Presidential candidates made uncharacteristic appearances on WWE Raw. If the pro-wrestling vote is going to determine the future of this country, why be forced to choose from among those posers? Vote for the real deal!"
The latest word on TNA X-Division champion Petey Williams is that he is expected out of the ring, at minimum, six weeks due to his broken orbital bone.

Kofi Kingston def. Shelton Benjamin Mike Knox def. Tommy Dreamer (with Colin Delaney) CM Punk def. Chuck Palumbo (disqualification) Chavo Guerrero & Bam Neely def. ECW Champion Kane (Handicap Match)
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. Still seething after his loss at Backlash, Chavo Guerrero was joined in the ring by his bodyguard, Bam Neely, to exact revenge on Kane tonight. While Guerrero & Neely picked up a win over the Big Red ECW Champion, turning the self-proclaimed Mexican Warriors fortune in his favor, Colin Delaney was again unlucky in the Land of the Extreme on Tuesday.
Delaney, who is still seeking a WWE contract, was in Tommy Dreamers corner when he faced Mike Knox. While the ECW Original picked up a tag team win against Knox last week, he had one thing on his mind: revenge. Dreamer was looking for retribution for Knoxs attack last week, and for Knoxs decimation of Delaney the week prior. But when youngster Delaney distracted Dreamer during this weeks match, Knox was able to come out on top again when he threw Delaney into the steel stairs, then pinned the ECW Original for the win.
Next week on ECWs 100th episode, down-on-his-luck Delaney will face General Manager Armando Estrada for a coveted ECW contract. Will Estrada just add to Delaneys list of beatings, or will the youngsters dreams finally come true? (WATCH EXCLUSIVE VIDEO)
One ECW Superstar whose dreams continue to come true week after week is Kofi Kingston. The Jamaican Superstar met Shelton Benjamin for the second week in a row on ECW and continued his winning streak. If the Gold Standard cant stop the undefeated Kingston in two tries, who will?
There was a lesson to be learned this week on ECW, and Mick Foley was the student in Matt Strikers Classroom. When Your Teacher questioned SmackDowns new color commentators knowledge of wrestling technicalities, Foley had a lesson of his own for Striker: Mr. Socko. The Hardcore Legend exited the classroom with some familiar parting words for Your Teacher: Have a nice day! (WATCH)
Also on Tuesday night, Chuck Palumbo drove his custom chopper to the Land of the Extreme where he met Mr. Money in the Bank, CM Punk. Palumbo backed the Straightedge Superstar into the corner of the ring and would not listen to the referees five-count, leading to Punks win by disqualification. After the bell, Punk attacked Palumbo, but the motorcycle-riding Superstar leveled Mr. Money in the Bank.
Finally, the rivalry between Chavo Guerrero and ECW Champion Kane was relit on ECW on Sci Fi during a non-title Handicap Match. Guerreros bodyguard, Bam Neely, made an impressive in-ring debut, but it was Guerrero who picked up the win over the Big Red Machine.
WWE Smackdown superstar released Posted by Bobby Spade on 04/28/2008 at 10:47 AM
From WWE.com:
WWE has come to terms on the release of SmackDown Superstar Dave Taylor as of today, April 28, 2008. We wish Dave the best in all his future endeavors.
Awesome Kong's manager Raisha Saeed wrestled without her hood on in a dark match prior to last night's taping in Orlando. Instead, Saeed assumed her longtime indy wrestling persona, Cheerleader Melissa. The gimmick is her coming out in a cheerleader outfit with pom-pons. No word yet if the Raisha Saeed persona is being dropped, although she can portray two gimmicks at once. If you recall, Mike Bucci assumed his old ECW persona, Hollywood Nova, for the short-lived return of the Blue World Order in the summer of 2005 while he was still portraying Simon Dean.
A brand new TNA Knockout looks to be on the way. Cheerleader Melissa's opponent at last night's iMPACT! taping was none other than SHIMMER/Ring of Honor women's wrestler Daizee Haze. Haze lost to Melissa in the dark match. According to PWInsider.com, there are plans for the two to wrestle at tonight's iMPACT! taping. Haze returns to the company after a four year hiatus. When she was starting out in wrestling and trying to make a name for herself, Haze worked a few matches on TNA's syndicated show Xplosion. She last appeared in a TNA ring in early 2004.
As noted earlier, former WWE developmental women's wrestler Shantelle Taylor is in Orlando for this week's TNA iMPACT! tapings and expected to make her television debut.
Top TNA superstar gets suspended Posted by Bobby Spade on 04/28/2008 at 04:42 PM
Wrestling Observer Newsletter
Tomko will be out for at least two more weeks due to a recent suspension. He'll probably be back at the 5/12 or 5/13 Impact tapings because he'll likely be on the Slammiversary card. Tomko got suspended after he went against the company's orders by making a wrestling appearance in Osaka, Japan, the day before Lockdown.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. After his shocking ascension to the throne as King of the Ring last week on Raw, General Manager William Regal arrived in East Rutherford for his coronation ceremony. Instead, the newly anointed majesty was treated to a royally rude awakening by a returning Mr. Kennedy which led to Regals besmirching the main event at the expense of our fans, new WWE Champion Triple H and Randy Orton. (WATCH) Read the full story
Before an incensed Regal pulled the plug on the Raw main event, the 2008 King of the Ring was royally aggravated by the loudmouth from Green Bay, Wisc. Kennedy told the newly crowned Regal that his monarchy was tainted because he didnt go through him to earn the throne. Raws GM took great exception to what he dubbed as Kennedys insolence, and demanded an apology. When Mr. Kennedys response was much less than what the king expected, Regal attacked with imperial anger, and the two Superstars brawled until WWE referees separated them. (WATCH)
Whats next as the 2008 King of the Ring winner and Raw GM attempts to force every Superstar in WWE to submit to his rule? Will Regals iron-fisted ways find him knocked from the throne by a brazen detractor like Mr. Kennedy?
And the winner is Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho hosted another installment of the Highlight Reel with special guest Shawn Michaels, who was coming off a victory at Backlash over Batista. Y2Js accusations that HBK faked a knee injury to get the win over The Animal did not sit well with Michaels, who made it known to Jericho that he one of the most decorated Superstars in history was genuinely hurt by the implications.
Chris Jerichos mockery of Michaels performance at Backlash was evident with the bravado which Y2J displayed by comparing HBKs hard-fought win to Fuji General and Michael Coles embarrassing moment with Heidenreich in 2004. Presenting an acting award to Shawn Michaels, Jerichos sudden contempt for HBK has come to the forefront, as Y2J has challenged The Showstoppers integrity. (WATCH)
Stock rising? JBL decimated Robbie of The Highlanders on Raw, one day after his disappointing performance in the Fatal Four Way Elimination Match at Backlash. The former WWE Champion who tapped to John Cena the night before then warned that last nights embarrassment has unleashed hell.
With this new side let loose, JBL challenged the WWE Champion, whoever it may be, to a match for the gold. He then turned his attention to the man who eliminated him from the Backlash championship battle. I will destroy John Cena, said the angered JBL, still seething after failing to gain the title, courtesy of Cenas STFU. (WATCH)
Divine Divas Dominate After falling at Backlash, Womens Champion Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Michelle McCool, Cherry, Ashley & Maria gained a measure of revenge on Beth Phoenix, Victoria, Natalya, Melina, Jillian & Layla on Raw, defeating the devious Divas.
Though her teammates sustained a steady assault for most of the match, Mickie James showed why she is the champion when she used a modified bridge pin on Jillian to get the win for her team, much to the disgust of former champion Beth Phoenix.
Rhodes retribution Last week on Raw, after watching fellow World Tag Team Champion Hardcore Holly fall in one-on-one action to Carlito, Cody Rhodes told Santino Marella to shut up, leading to a skirmish between the duos. This week, Rhodes squared off against Marella to try and seal the Italians mouth the old fashioned way by force.
Before the encounter, Santino expressed his hatred for fake Italians and the state of New Jersey, infuriating our fans in East Rutherford. Rhodes was able to defeat Marella and silence the fast-tongued Superstar, albeit momentarily. As Cody taunted his downed opponent, Santino Marella, Carlito delivered a Backstabber to Rhodes and ran from the ring.
Later, Santinos partner wasnt around to protect him, however, as the cocky Superstar had an unpleasant encounter with WWE Hall of Famer Rowdy Roddy Piper. (WATCH)
High-flying friends in low places In tag action, Paul London & Brian Kendrick sustained their winning ways on Raw, while Lance Cade & Trevor Murdochs downward spiral continued. London & Kendricks in-ring symmetry is second to none, and Kendrick capitalized on a Murdoch mistake to get the win.
After the match, Cade once again berated his tag partner, but Murdoch took to the announce table, where he sang his rendition of Friends in Low Places, confusing our fans as well as his frustrated partner, Lance Cade. (WATCH)
Union Jack and Jane Finally, Raw General Manager William Regals fellow countrymen, Paul & Katie Lea Burchill, competed in the new kings name in an Intergender Handicap Match against Super Crazy. The Burchill siblings dominated Super Crazy, and after a devastating curb stomp by Paul, he allowed his sister to get the pin for the victory.
