The severity of Randy Orton's broken collarbone is worse than originally thought. His return to the ring has been pushed back until at least October. The initial timetable for his return was just after SummerSlam
This past Wednesday, Mr. Kennedy and Carlito caused a bit of controversy during a WWE press conference in Panama promoting a show on July 4. During the press conference, the two Raw stars behaved in character by insulting the women of Panama. Kennedy said, "We thought we would see beautiful girls here; still, we have seen none. In fact, you can't tell them apart from the men." Carlito added, "I don't agree with Mr. Kennedy. After women in England, the USA, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, etc. then come the Panamanians." Their comments caused a stir and now there is a serious news story on the situation on a Panama news site. You can view the article at this http://www.prensa.com. The article is in Spanish, so here is a rough translation of it:
WWE wrestlers insult Panamanian women
The wrestlers Carlitos [sic] and Mr. Kennedy created controversy yesterday, Wednesday, during the promotion for the Raw Summerslam [tour] event, which will take place July 4 at the Figali Convention Center.
During the press conference they did not respect Panamanian women and the country in general.
"We thought we would see beautiful girls here; still, we have seen none. In fact, you can't tell them apart from the men," said Mr. Kennedy.
Carlitos [sic] supported his opinion and added some additional things.
"I don't agree with Mr. Kennedy. After women in England, the USA, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, etc. then come the Panamanians."
A fan took the opportunity to ask if they had any plans of buying a summer home in Panama, and they shuddered in response.
"Not at all. I have no intention of buying a house in Panama, since this country is a cheap rip off of Puerto Rico," indicated Carlitos [sic], a native of said country.
"The beaches in Puerto Rico are better," he noted.
Carlitos [sic], who during his appearances always chews on an apple and spits it at his rival, added one more insult.
"Are these apples? (in reference to the size of the fruit) Here in Panama everything is small," he stated before throwing the apples on the floor, creating disgust among all those present at the press conference.
The person portraying 'Tiffany' on this past Tuesday's edition of ECW is 2007 Diva Search contestant Taryn Terrell, who was signed to a developmental contract earlier in the year. Terrell finished in fourth place in last fall's Diva Search contest. In an interesting bit of trivia, Terrell is reportedly dating Carlton of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air fame, or at least was as late as last December. There's an article on TMZ.com on him celebrating "his girlfriend Taryn Terrell's birthday" in Las Vegas last December.
Candice Michelle is scheduled to have an MRI next week on her injured collarbone, reports PWInsider.com. If the results of the MRI go well, Michelle will be cleared to start lifting weights in preparation for her return to the ring. Officials are hopeful that she returns around SummerSlam time.
WWE announced Friday that Mike Mondo has been released from his contract.
Mondo, real name Michael Brendli, was arrested earlier this month for a DUI. The wrestler tested for a blood alcohol content level of .094 and then .091, both of which are above the .08 legal limit in Florida.
Formerly of the Spirit Squad, the wrestler had been working in Florida Championship Wrestling as Mighty Mikey.
His arrest marked the third DUI incident in recent memory for WWE performers in Florida; Ted DiBiase, Jr. and Santino Marella had also been charged with driving over the legal limit.
Carlito is said to very unhappy with his current status in WWE. This past week on RAW, Carlito & Santino Marella cleanly put over Cryme Tyme. Of course, WWE doesn't doesn't want to lose him because of his value in the Spanish market.
Morrison def. Finlay Mark Henry def. Tommy Dreamer Cherry def. Maryse MVP def. CM Punk U.S. Champion Matt Hardy def. Chuck Palumbo Jesse & Festus def. Deuce & Domino Batista def. The Great Khali
FRESNO, Calif. Feeling underappreciated, Montel Vontavious Porter declared to General Manager Vickie Guerrero that his talents are not being used to their full potential on SmackDown. The Ballin Superstar demanded that his contract be re-negotiated. Just one problem the contract was drawn up by former General Manager Theodore Long, not Guerrero.
Therefore, with upcoming nuptials and Night of Champions on her mind, Guerrero made a deal with MVP. She requested that he take care of CM Punk, a Superstar that continues to be a thorn in the side of the World Heavyweight Champion, Edge. Punk even approached the Rated-R Superstar in the locker room area and warned him that he may cash in his Money in the Bank opportunity at Edge and Guerreros July 11 wedding.
After a battle in the ring with Punk, MVP pulled off a turnbuckle, prompting the referee to turn his back to the action. During the distraction, MVP grabbed Punks briefcase in hopes of using it against Mr. Money in the Bank, but the Straightedge Superstar managed to knock MVP to the mat, causing the referee to catch him red-handed and allowing the Franchise Playa to win by disqualification. (WATCH)
Small tactics
WWE Tag Team Champion John Morrison pinned Finlay on SmackDown, just as his partner, The Miz, got his hands on the Irishmans son, Hornswoggle. The tension continues to mount between the champs and Finlay & Hornswoggle, but who will get the upper hand next?
Seeing stars
Mark Henry wants to be the No. 1 contender for the ECW Title after Night of Champions. The Worlds Strongest Man continued to enforce that he will not be overlooked, as he crushed Tommy Dreamer to send another message to Big Show.
Striving for gold
With General Manager Vickie Guerrero closely scouting the SmackDown and ECW Divas to see who will face Natalya for the newly-created Divas Championship, Cherry and Maryse stepped into the ring once again. As their extremely personal rivalry heats up, Cherry once again surprised Maryse by pulling out a win on SmackDown. Will Cherrys victory catch the GM's eye? (WATCH)
Bewildered yet strong
Chavo Guerrero caught United States Champion Matt Hardy off-guard when he announced their United States Championship Match for Night of Champions. However, the surprised Hardy didnt let the announcement phase him; rather, in a match between him and Chuck Palumbo, he prevailed over the Revved-up Superstar with a Twist of Fate. Can Hardy carry that same success with him when he faces Chavo at Night of Champions, or will the Guerrero bloodline translate to victory for the self-proclaimed Mexican Warrior? Night of Champions Preview
Dueling duos
Jesse & Festus defeated Deuce & Domino on Friday night, and the mounting frustration between the two exploded when Domino attacked his partner. Will this be the end of the partnership between the boys from the Other Side of the Tracks or can they settle their differences?
In the drivers seat
General Manager Vickie Guerrero is wheeling and dealing to keep her man on the top. The dedicated bride-to-be started the night off with Batistas contract signing for Night of Champions. (WATCH) But of course, she added an outlandish amendment: The Animal must defeat The Great Khali or be banished from WWE. Batista overcame the challenge and unleashed his fury on Khali, bringing him one step closer to Edge and the gold. (WATCH) Read the full story

Evan Bourne & Kofi Kingston def. Shelton Benjamin & Mike Knox Victoria def. Kelly Kelly Finlay def. Armando Estrada Colin Delaney def. Armando Estrada Hornswoggle def. Armando Estrada WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison def. ECW Champion Kane & CM Punk
FRESNO, Calif. WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison retained their gold on Tuesday night, after a strong showing against ECW Champion Kane & CM Punk. In a repeat performance of their Judgment Day tag match, ECWs Chick Magnet & the Shaman of Sexy once again were victorious over the Big Red Machine & Mr. Money in the Bank. (WATCH)
Kane, who was still seething after being attacked by the WWE Tag Team Champions on last weeks ECW, was determined to walk out of the Save Mart Center with two championships in his giant hands, alongside Punk. But after Morrison hit Punk with a Moonlight Drive and pinned him, Miz & Morrison retained. The Tag Champs seem to be unbeatable when it comes to defending their Extreme gold.
Also on ECW, Evan Bourne made an impressive debut in tag team action. The newcomer paired up with Kofi Kingston to defeat Shelton Benjamin & Mike Knox. Bourne, who said hes spent his life wrestling throughout Japan, England and Germany, preparing to live his dream in WWE, showed off his high-flying skills in the match, pinning Knox for his teams win. With such a remarkable debut, this surely wont be the last the Land of the Extreme sees of Bourne. (WATCH)
ECW General Manager Theodore Long has a new assistant, a blond beauty named Tiffany. While in Longs office, Tiffany was visited by a very friendly Armando Estrada. Their conversation was interrupted by new GM Long, who told Estrada he had another chance to impress him for an ECW contract, this time against Finlay. But Estrada came up short when he met the SmackDown Superstar who loves to fight. (WATCH)
Long gave Estrada another chance to prove his worth, but in his second match in two weeks against Colin Delaney the ECW newcomer who also had to earn his Extreme contract Estrada was once again quickly defeated by the youngster.
Armando, you just lost again. You know what they say, that the third times a charm, Long told Estrada, who was left in pain on the ECW mat.
For his final opportunity of the evening, Estrada faced SmackDowns littlest Superstar, Hornswoggle. But Finlays son hit Estrada with a tadpole splash off the top rope to pick up the win. After Estradas losses, Delaney joined Finlay and Hornswoggle to dance a celebratory jig in the ECW ring, but their party was cut short when Finlay delivered a shillelagh to the face of Delaney.
Also on Tuesday night, WWE Divas Championship hopefuls Kelly Kelly and Victoria met in the ECW ring. Both Divas hoped to impress SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero, but it was Victoria who shined. While on the ring apron, Kelly Kelly attempted to lock Victoria into a headscissors, but the devious Victoria knocked the ECW Diva off. Kelly Kelly landed flat on her face and chest, leading ECW referee Scott Armstrong to begin the 10-count . However, his count was interrupted when Kelly Kelly was unresponsive on the ground, leading to Victorias victory. The SmackDown Diva, who is hoping for a chance at the new WWE Divas Championship, has to wonder if GM Guerrero was watching.
Finally, Mark Henry visited the Land of the Extreme in hopes of meeting Big Show. The Worlds Strongest Man congratulated Big Show on his One Night Stand victory and shook his hand, but Big Show had words of his own for Henry. (WATCH) More on this story
Mr. Kennedy def. Paul Burchill WWE Women's Champion Mickie James def. Beth Phoenix John Cena def. JBL Umaga & Snitsky def. Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes Cryme Tyme def. Carlito and Santino Marella Jeff Hardy def. Triple H
OAKLAND, Calif. All across the nation, the only thing on the minds of WWE fans is how to get a piece of McMahons Millions. For WWE Champion Triple H and John Cena though, the number one thing on their minds is championship gold. In just a few short weeks The Game will be defending his title against John Cena at Night of Champions, but on Raw he squared off against Jeff Hardy. As The King of Kings and the Legend Thriller beat the bricks off of each other, John Cena sat at the announcers table. Triple H was in the process of getting counted out when Cena pulled The Game off the apron, resulting in a win for Jeff Hardy by count-out. The two Superstars stared one another down, inches away from a collision, when the high-flying Hardy launched himself out of the ring, taking down both Triple H and Cena. (WATCH)
John Cenas involvement was retaliation for an earlier incident with the WWE Champion, when Triple H was acting as guest commentator during Cenas match with JBL. Though that meeting was a hard-fought, brutal encounter, the Chain Gang Commander came out on top. After winning, Cena climbed on the announcers table and confronted The King of Kings. Cenas celebration was short-lived, however, as The Game started to walk away, only to pull his Night of Champions opponents legs out from under him, dropping him to the table a sign of The Cerebral Assassins usual mental chess. (WATCH)
The Dark Side of Y2J Another Raw rivalry is brewing between Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels. The two have been hounding one another since Y2J accused The Showstopper of faking a knee injury at Backlash. HBK was indeed faking, something he revealed by performing Sweet Chin Music on Jericho a few weeks later. Frustrated that Michaels was cheered for faking an injury, while he gets booed for doing what he thinks is the right thing, Jericho attacked HBK while he was a guest on the Highlight Reel, smashing his head into the Jeri-Tron 6000. Neither of these men are known for letting things go, and will likely be battling it out on Raw as long as neither of them gets pulled to another brand during the WWE Draft, taking place in less than two weeks. (WATCH)
Melina saves the day Night of Champions is an event made up completely of title matches, so WWE Womens Champion Mickie James must be growing more and more excited to defend her coveted gold. One potential challenger is former champion Beth Phoenix, who lost the title to James almost two months ago. These Divas competed again on Raw, with James reliving her championship win by pinning Phoenix in a non-title match. Discontented with her loss, The Glamazon attacked James only to be interrupted when Melina rushed in and pummeled Phoenix.
Burchill Beatings After two weeks of interrupted matches and retaliatory beatings, Mr. Kennedy finally faced off against Paul Burchill in the ring. Proving yet again why he continues to make such a splash on Raw, the Green Bay Loudmouth defeated Burchill. After the match, however, Pauls sister Katie Lea stepped in and slapped Kennedy, distracting him long enough for Burchill to perform a Twisted Sister on the outspoken Superstar, no doubt prolonging this rivalry for weeks to come.
Trouble in tag team paradise Raw fans also saw the unconventional team of Umaga & Snitsky as they took on World Tag Team Champions Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes. Though neither Umaga nor Snitsky are known for their communication skills, their sheer power and brutality was enough to carry the two monsters to victory in a non-title match. As Holly & Rhodes recovered from their second loss in two weeks, Raws newest Superstar, Ted DiBiase appeared, warning the champions once again that at Night of Champions, he and a partner of his choice will take their gold.
Cryme Tyme takes a win The nights other tag team match-up was between Cryme Tyme and Carlito & Santino Marella. The Braggadocios Italian Superstar hoped to redeem himself after his defeat at the hands of Jimmy Kimmels Cousin Sal on SmackDown. Unfortunately for him, they were no match against Raw fans favorite hooligans, and Cryme Tyme picked up the win.
Money, money yeah, yeah! As always, Raw was an exhilarating show, but what really had people on the edges of their seats was, of course, McMahons Million Dollar Mania. The WWE Chairman made good on his promise, giving away a full $1 million to lucky Raw fans. Though it wasnt all good, with Raw audiences being forced to endure a singing competition between Trevor Murdoch and Jillian, and a Charlie Haas-Mae Young make-out session, Mr. McMahon dubbed the night a success, and went so far as to promise to give out another $1 million next week on Raw to fans who register to win on WWE.com.
James Yun (Jimmy Wang Yang) was announced as being suspended by WWE for a wellness policy violation. It was his first violation so he's suspended for 30 days.
TNA ring crew member killed in accident Posted by Randy Gordon on 06/09/2008 at 10:59 AM
From Mickey Micklon:
SOUTHAVEN, MS (WMC-TV) - A crew member with the TNA Wrestling promotion was killed Sunday night in an accident at the DeSoto Civic Center.
The accident happened Sunday night around 11pm, shortly after a televised wrestling event had concluded. Officials said a group of men was working to break down a metal backdrop, which was about 15 to 20 feet off the ground, when a scaffolding collapsed.
A TNA Wrestling crew member, who was on top of the scaffolding at the time, fell and hit the concrete. He was rushed to Baptist DeSoto hospital in Southaven, where he later died.
Another worker with a local group, Crew 1, lost his thumb in the accident. He was taken to The MED, where he is expected to recover.
Authorities have not yet released the names of either of the men.
The Pay-Per-View kicks off with the TNA X Division Championship as "Maple Leaf Muscle" Petey Williams defended the gold against Kaz. Williams was wearing a protective face mask due to a recent injury he sustained. Rhaka Khan attempted to interfere, but it was all a cover for "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner to come down with a steel pipe. Steiner got the pipe to Williams, who cracked it over Kaz's skull and bloodied him. Williams hit the Canadian Destroyer on Kaz for the win to successfully defend the title.
After the bout, Steiner got on the microphone to talk trash to Kaz, but the monster Abyss made his surprise return and hit the Black Hole Slam on Steiner, Williams and Rhaka Khan! Abyss then picked up Kaz on his shoulders and carried him to the back.
Eric Young interrupted Mike and Don at the commentary table, claiming that Elvis was coming to the event!
JB interviewed Kevin Nash about his role as the enforcer for the King Of The Mountain match. Nash claimed Joe's reign as champion was an investment Nash couldn't afford to lose.
The Knockouts team of Gail Kim, ODB and Roxxi defeated The Beautiful People and their new bodyguard Moose when ODB beat Moose.
Lauren interviewed Rhino, who talked about how the past year was so tough for him, but his goal was to walk out World Champion.
In a clash of two of the best tag teams in the sport today, TNA World Tag Team Champions The Latin American Xchange defeated Team 3D to retain the gold. In the end, as Team 3D was getting ready to hit the 3D finisher on Hernandez, Homicide snuck up behind Brother Ray and rolled him up with a small package for the win!
JB interviewed Robert Roode, who talked about winning the King Of The Mountain match and cementing himself among the elite in TNA.
Next up, TNA Women's Champion Awesome Kong made her open challenge, which was once again answered by a fan in the crowd. After Kong decimated that challenger, she wanted another victim. Minutes later, she annihilated that person as well. As Kong was about to leave, she was interrupted by Eric Young, who announced that Elvis was here! This "Elvis" danced his way to the ring - where he was met by Awesome Kong! Kong destroyed Elvis and finally left the arena!
Lauren interviewed Christian Cage about his chances in the main event tonight and regaining the World Championship.
Next up was the wedding with Jay Lethal and SoCal Val, also featuring Sonjay Dutt, America Idol star Ace Young, plus wrestling legends Koko B. Ware, Kamala, Jake "The Snake" Roberts and George "The Animal" Steele. However, Sonjay Dutt ruined the wedding - and his friendship with Jay Lethal - when he begged Val to marry him instead. Dutt and Lethal got into an argument, with Dutt eventually blindsiding Lethal and attacking him! Before Dutt could inflict any more damage the wrestling legends hit the ring to chase him away!
Backstage, JB interviewed Booker T about his chances in the King Of the Mountain match.
In the first of the two main-event matches, "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles defeated Kurt Angle thanks to Karen Angle! It looked like Karen was actually on Kurt's side and was going to slide a chair into him, but she yanked it away at the last moment - allowing AJ to make a comeback and beat Kurt with the Styles Clash! After the bout, Kurt snapped and demolished AJ With a chair. Fearful for her well-being, Karen left the ring - allowing Kurt and Tomko (who tried to interfere earlier) the opportunity to destroy The Phenomenal One. Angle put AJ in the Ankle Lock submission and refused to let go until referees and security pulled him off AJ.
In the main event King Of The Mountain match, Samoa Joe made history by becoming the first defending TNA World Heavyweight Champion to win the ladder match and retain the gold! However, the win came with controversy, as Booker T looked to have it won - but it was the special enforcer Kevin Nash that cost Booker his chance at the win!
How will all this unfold? Tune into Thursday's "iMPACT!" to find out!
