Hoe ziet de power 25 eruit voor het begin van het nieuwe jaar
This Week Movement Superstar Last Week
    1

    JEFF HARDY (17)

The POWER25’s No. 1 Superstar continues his hot streak, but was a bit rattled by Randy Orton’s attack on his brother, Matt. How will Hardy respond next week?

    1
    2

    CM PUNK (2)

The ECW Champion fought back a challenge from Chavo Guerrero, thwarting a future title opportunity for Chavo with a count-out victory.

    3
    3

    BATISTA

The Animal was frustrated after failing to “beat the clock” on SmackDown to earn a World Heavyweight Championship opportunity, unable to beat Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins in a Handicap Match.

    2
    4

    RANDY ORTON

Just as he did to Cody Rhodes and John Cena in recent months, the WWE Champion cranked up his rivalry with Jeff Hardy when he attacked Hardy’s family – namely his brother, Matt.

    4
    5

    REY MYSTERIO

With a little help from The Undertaker, the former World Champion “beat the clock” by defeating the current World Champion, Edge, earning a title match at the Royal Rumble.

    6
    6

    TRIPLE H

The Game nearly ended the career of best friend Ric Flair on Raw, but William Regal’s attack disqualified Triple H, causing him to lose a chance to participate in the Royal Rumble Match.

    5
    7

    UNDERTAKER

The Deadman nearly set the best time in the Beat the Clock Challenge, but special guest referee Matt Striker refused to count to three for the winning pinfall as time expired.

    7
    8

    EDGE

The World Heavyweight Champion was defeated by Rey Mysterio on SmackDown. The two will have a return match at Royal Rumble, with the title on the line.

    8
    9

    SHAWN MICHAELS

The Showstopper saw his run of success against Mr. Kennedy come to an end on Raw, as the Green Bay gladiator knocked off HBK to end 2007.

    9
    10

    BETH PHOENIX

The Glamazon cracks the Top 10 in the P25 after her Triple Threat victory over Mickie James and Melina. It’s the highest position for a Women’s Champion on the P25 in recent memory.

    12
    11

    JOHN MORRISON

The Shaman of Sexy had his hands full in a Six-Man Tag Team Match this week on ECW on Sci Fi, as he, Miz & Layla were defeated by Shannon Moore, Jimmy Wang Yang & Kelly Kelly.

    10
    12

    BIG DADDY V

The gargantuan ECW Superstar notched another win on ECW on Sci Fi. Can anyone stop this monster?

    13
    13

    KANE

The Big Red Machine was out of action this week, but sources in the locker room saw Kane watching Big Daddy V and Mark Henry’s matches with great interest.

    11
    14

    FINLAY

The Irishman continues to get help from his friend, Hornswoggle. This time, a win over the United States Champion MVP was the result of the leprechaun’s shillelagh shenanigans.

    16
    15

    MONTEL VONTAVIOUS PORTER

The United States Champion was fuming after his loss to Finlay. He was overheard saying he wanted a bigger trophy on his mantle … perhaps the Nature Boy’s career?

    15
    16

    MR. KENNEDY

He promised to beat HBK by the end of 2007, and with just hours left in the year, the Green Bay, Wis., native delivered.

    19
    17

    THE MIZ

The WWE Tag Team Champion got burned again by the team of Shannon Moore and Jimmy Wang Yang in six-man tag action.

    14
    18

    CHRIS JERICHO

Y2J made sure JBL’s debut on Raw was a memorable one. He attacked the braggadocious tycoon during his address, and the two had to be separated by officials.

    17
    19

    HORNSWOGGLE

The bastard son of Mr. McMahon continues to work magic for Finlay, helping him to a win over MVP. But he was oh-so-close to a thrashing at the hands of Raw GM William Regal, who relented at the last moment.

    18
    20

    UMAGA

The Samoan Bulldozer is the first to claim one of 30 coveted spots in the Royal Rumble Match. With his size and strength, he’ll be one of the odds-on favorites to win the 21st annual classic.

    21
    21

    RIC FLAIR

Woooooo! The Nature Boy’s career continues on, but Flair’s win was bittersweet, as it cost Triple H a chance to participate in the Royal Rumble Match.

    24
    22

    CODY RHODES & HARDCORE HOLLY

Cody took the week off, but Hardcore Holly picked up a win over former champion Trevor Murdoch on Heat.

    20
    23

    SHELTON BENJAMIN

ECW’s “gold standard” remains undefeated since his arrival. With his championship-laden history, how much longer until Shelton challenges for ECW gold?

    22
    24

JIMMY WANG YANG & SHANNON MOORE

The newest tag-team duo is making waves, picking up its second win in a row over the WWE Tag Team Champions.

    NR
    25

    THE GREAT KHALI

The Punjabi giant defeated Tommy Dreamer in a WWE.com exclusive match – a good way to start 2008 on the right gigantic foot.

Finlay def. United States Champion MVP (Non-title, Beat the Clock)
Kenny Dykstra & Victoria def. Chuck Palumbo & Michelle McCool
Chavo Guerrero def. Funaki (Beat the Clock)
Batista vs. Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder (No Contest, Beat the Clock)
Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore def. Deuce & Domino
Undertaker vs. Mark Henry (No Contest, Beat the Clock)
Rey Mysterio def. World Heavyweight Champion Edge to become No. 1 contender(Non-title, Beat the Clock)

RICHMOND, Va. – New year, same bad luck for Chuck Palumbo. The revved-up Superstar joined Michelle McCool in a Mixed Tag Team Match on SmackDown against Kenny Dykstra & Victoria, but the two friends were unable to find a way to prevail. Palumbo has had a string of bad luck recently, and his frustrations erupted after the loss; Palumbo verbally assaulting McCool, and then left her behind as he rode out of the Richmond Coliseum on his motorcycle.

    Hoe-down Showdown
Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore continued their impressive 2007 hot streak into the new year when they faced former WWE Tag Team Champions Deuce & Domino. The boys from the Other Side of the Tracks have been searching for a win for some time, but their 2008 began on a sour note. Yang & Moore hope they can carry their recent success to Tuesday night, challenging reiging champions John Morrison & The Miz for the gold in a 15 Minutes of Fame Match on ECW on Sci Fi. Will WWE's resident redneck Yang and his partner Moore's 15 minutes end with a golden celebration?

    SmackDown’s new voices
When JBL departed the commentary booth to make his in-ring return on Raw, General Manager Vickie Guerrero used her power to bring Jonathan Coachman to Friday Night SmackDown as Michael Cole’s new broadcast colleague. (Meet Jonathan Coachman) Also joining the SmackDown team as its new correspondent is Lena Yada, one of the finalists from the 2007 Diva Search.

    Brazen Baller
After being defeated by Finlay in the Beat the Clock Challenge, United States Champion MVP was seen in the locker room area on his cell phone, still seething. 2007 was an impact year for MVP, but the Ballin’ Superstar has his sights set even higher in 2008. His first resolution: To end the career of the “Nature Boy” Ric Flair. What plans does MVP have for the 16-time World Champion, a man he has beaten before?

    Clock strikes 619
The Beat the Clock Challenge on SmackDown saw the Superstars vying for the best time in order to earn the opportunity to face Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship at Royal Rumble. When all was said and done, Rey Mysterio clocked in the quickest, and the Master of the 619 will go to Royal Rumble to face the Rated-R Superstar for the gold. Read the full story…

NEWS AND VIDEO FROM THURSDAY'S "iMPACT!" ON SPIKE TV
The final countdown to Sunday's "Final Resolution"
    By Bill Banks

The following is news from Thursday's "iMPACT!" broadcast on SpikeTV as TNA Wrestling counts down the hours until this Sunday's "Final Resolution" Pay-Per-View event:

    - TNA cameras were at AJ Styles' home in Georgia to find out if he would side with either Kurt Angle or Christian Cage this Sunday night. In the end, AJ changed his mind several times - then told the world he would make his final decision when the time is right this Sunday during the Pay-Per-View. Meanwhile, Tomko announced he was his own man in TNA and he wouldn't side with either Cage or Angle.

    - Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash will be tag team partners this Sunday night as they will challenge AJ Styles and Tomko for the TNA World Tag Team Championship. Other bouts announced include Booker T and Sharmell taking on Robert Roode and Ms. Brooks, Kaz vs. Black Reign and The Latin American Xchange vs. Lance Hoyt and Jimmy Rave with Christy Hemme.

    - The Motor City Machineguns won the Tag Team gauntlet, but they paid for it afterwards as Team 3D and Johnny Devine attempted to injure them before they can make it to Sunday's Ultimate X bout.

    - ODB won the Women's Knockout gauntlet match, beating Roxxi Laveaux.

    - Petey Williams won the X Division gauntlet by beating Senshi with the Canadian Destroyer.

    - In the Heavyweight gauntlet, Christian Cage got the win over Samoa Joe. The bout also saw Angle and Cage brawl throughout and Nash and Joe putting their differences aside and shaking hands.

Mixed reaction to the new Smackdown announcer

WWE's decision to go with Jonathan Coachman as JBL's replacement as a SmackDown! announcer came as a surprise to many. WWE kept the news very quiet up until last weekend's tapings. A lot of people in the Smackdown lockerroom expeted Tazz to be JBL's replacement. Tazz and Michael Cole had great chemistry on SmackDown before Tazz was shifted over to ECW at the end of 2006. Virtually all of SmackDown's top stars wanted Tazz to replace JBL. Jonathan Coachman got mixed feedback on his first broadcast and management understands it's a work in progress.

Jimmy Wang Yang, Shannon Moore & Kelly Kelly def. The Miz, John Morrison & Layla
Big Daddy V def. Colin Delaney
    Shelton Benjamin def. James Curtis
ECW Champion CM Punk def. Chavo Guerrero (count-out)

RICHMOND, Va. – As 2008 commenced, there was not a person in the Land of the Extreme who didn’t plan on making sure this would be his year. For Chavo Guerrero and others who made such a bold resolution, however, 2008 didn’t exactly start off according to plan.

Kelly Kelly had spent much of the final months in 2007 fighting off The Miz’s attempts to make her life a living hell. She had done a good job until recently, earning unexpected victories against her opponents, but the self-proclaimed “chick magnet” found a way to get to the blonde with Layla & Victoria.

Tuesday night, The Miz took Layla and added co-WWE Tag Team Champion John Morrison to his team of three to take on Kelly, Shannon Moore & Jimmy Wang Yang. Thanks to the help from her supporting cast, Kelly was able to start off 2008 the right way when Yang pinned The Miz. This win makes it two straight for the duo of Moore & Yang, who defeated the WWE Tag Team Champions two weeks ago. If things continue in this direction, gold may not be The Miz & John Morrison’s color this year.

Later in the evening, Colin Delaney took part in his second match ever, in as many Tuesday nights. And if he didn’t think his first match against Shelton Benjamin could have been worse, he was wrong. Big Daddy V made a meal out of Delaney, just moments after the athlete admitted how nervous he was in an interview with Tazz.

Speaking of Delaney’s opponent from last week, Shelton Benjamin continued to prove to our fans that he is ECW’s “Gold Standard” when he defeated James Curtis. Benjamin remains undefeated since joining the ECW roster. With three Intercontinental Championships and two WWE Tag Team Titles on his résumé, Shelton is ready to add the ECW Championship to his collection of gold.

Chavo Guerrero got his opportunity to finish the job he started two weeks ago on ECW Champion CM Punk. But even with the new year, time wasn’t on Chavo’s side, as he was counted out in a contest that, if won, would have delivered a chance at the title. More on this story…

    Mr. Kennedy def. Shawn Michaels
Umaga def. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan (Royal Rumble Qualifying Match)
Women's Champion Beth Phoenix def. Melina and Mickie James
Hornswoggle vs. William Regal (no contest)
Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy vs. Santino Marella (no contest, non-title)
Ric Flair def. Triple H (disqualification)

GREENSBORO, N.C. – On a night like New Year’s Eve, most people wait until midnight to pop the champagne. But Mr. Kennedy just couldn’t contain himself. The loudmouth from Green Bay, Wisc. celebrated early this year after defeating his rival Shawn Michaels.

Kennedy had promised to prevail over HBK before the end of 2007, and he did just that with only a couple of hours to spare.

After succumbing to Sweet Chin Music at Armageddon, the bleached blonde bomber vowed that he’d had enough. But it was only Monday night, however, that Kennedy was finally able to keep his End of Year resolution.  Photos | Watch the video...

    Royal Entrance
New Year’s Eve brought with it the first qualifying match for the Royal Rumble pitting “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan against Umaga. Chants of “U-S-A” were drowned out by the revving of the Samoan Bulldozer as Umaga pounded Hacksaw to secure a spot at the Rumble on Jan. 27.  Photos

    Gashed Hopes
The sparks continued to fly between JBL and Chris Jericho. During the Lonestar Loudmouth’s showy Raw debut, Y2J charged in and the two exchanged blows, which opened a nasty gash across JBL’s nose before a throng of officials were able to pull him away.  Photos | Watch the video...

    Three Times a Lady
In a Triple Threat Title Match, Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix defended her gold against Melina and Mickie James. In a topsy-turvy contest, the Glamazon finally managed to toss Mickie from the ring and pin Melina after an impressive Fisherman’s Suplex. Photos | Watch the video...

    Brass Kisser
In another test of  “tough love” arranged by Mr.
McMahon, William Regal battled the Chairman’s bastard son, Hornswoggle. But when punch came to shove, the Raw General Manager just couldn’t bring himself to break the little guy’s face with a pair of brass knuckles handed to him by Mr. McMahon.

In the end, Hornswoggle waddled from the ring and left Regal to take a verbal thrashing from his boss. Photos | Watch the video...

    Brother’s Keeper
No line is too brash to cross for Randy Orton. As Jeff Hardy prepared to divebomb Santino Marella during their match Monday night, the WWE Champion came on the Titantron to show Hardy that he had just leveled his brother Matt with a shot to the elder Hardy’s post-surgery appendix. The concerned Intercontinental Champion sprinted to his brother’s aid and was reminded of just how low Orton is willing to go to keep his title. Photos | Watch the video...

    Life Goes On
In his Win-or-Retire Match against Triple H, Ric Flair managed to survive another day by defeating his longtime friend and protégé. The Nature Boy had a little “help” when William Regal, perhaps hoping to please Mr. McMahon, wailed on Flair with brass knuckles causing the seasoned veteran to win by disqualification.

    Harry Smith al gedegradeerd

-- Since returning from his suspension, Harry Smith has been limited to WWE Heat. Before, he was receiving a pretty big push on RAW. His suspension was of no political value as an FCW guy, but was as a guy on TV who they were pushing. The result of the drug test was known before they made the call to put him on television.

    Lance Cade geblesseerd

Former World Tag Team Champion Lance Cade was injured after separating his left shoulder at a live event in Atlanta on Friday night.

According to athletic trainer Chris Brennan, the severity of Cade’s injury cannot be determined until he undergoes an orthopedic evaluation.

“Lance could be out of action for four to six weeks,” Brennan told WWE.com. “Of course, those numbers could change depending on the orthopedic evaluation.”

WWE.com will update this situation as more information becomes available.
