    Finlay def. Batista (Disqualification)
John Morrison & R-Truth def. Drew McIntyre & Chris Jericho
Cryme Tyme vs. Charlie Haas & Mike Knox (No Contest)
The Great Khali & Matt Hardy def. The Hart Dynasty

GREENVILLE, S.C. – With Royal Rumble just nine days away, Rey Mysterio decided to do the unthinkable – call out World Heavyweight Champion Undertaker. Although Mysterio escaped The Deadman’s wrath, he did not fair so well when The Animal came charging into the ring.

After calling out The Undertaker, Rey Mysterio was attacked by Batista (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Standing in the middle of the ring, Rey Mysterio called out his Royal Rumble opponent, World Heavyweight Champion Undertaker. After recalling winning a World Title four years ago, The Master of the 619 said The Deadman was the only thing standing between reliving his dream again.

Not phased by Mysterio’s confidence, The Phenom said Mysterio is only digging his own grave, and will “rest in peace” – just like the many other Superstars who have tried to make a name for themselves against The Deadman.

Then, as Undertaker made his way up the exit ramp, Mysterio shouted into the mic that he is not like the rest who have faced The Phenom. Next, from out of nowhere, Batista viciously assaulted Mysterio with a spinebuster and Batista Bomb, leaving him writing in pain. Finally, as The Deadman approached the ring to witness the carnage, The Animal disappeared into the crowd.

Finlay def. Batista by disqualification (PHOTOS | WATCH)
In the first match of the night, Finlay was the one who had the unpleasant experience of encountering the angry Animal. After failing to heed the ref’s call to break a hold outside of the ring, Batista was immediately disqualified. Then – full of pent-up frustration at not having an opportunity for the World Title – The Animal unloaded on The Fighting Irishman, leaving him in a decimated heap.

Afterward, Batista grabbed the mic to call out Royal Rumble participants Shawn Michaels, Triple H, and John Cena, all the while proceeding to stomp on Finlay. The Animal boldly declared he would win the Royal Rumble Match, and go on to defeat World Heavyweight Champion Undertaker at WrestleMania and break his 17-0 streak.

Unified Tag Team Champions DX vs. CM Punk & Luke Gallows announced (WATCH)
CM Punk declared that he and Luke Gallows will defeat Unified Tag Team Champions Shawn Michaels and Triple H next week on SmackDown, restoring dignity to the title. Punk also claimed he will become the first straightedge Superstar to win the Royal Rumble Match.

CM Punk welcomed a female member to the “Straightedge Society” (PHOTOS | WATCH)
For the past two weeks, male members of the WWE Universe have been inducted into the “Straightedge Society” by CM Punk. But on this night, Serena, a female member of the WWE Universe, welcomed straightedge into her life and accepted CM Punk as her savior. The latest “Straightedge Society” induction ceremony culminated in CM Punk shaving off Serena’s entire beautiful head of hair!

John Morrison & R-Truth def. Drew McIntyre & Chris Jericho (PHOTOS | WATCH)
A match originally orchestrated as a 2-on-1 Handicap Match – by order of Official SmackDown Consultant Vickie Guererro – was turned into a standard Tag Team Match by SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long. Before the bell, Long added R-Truth to the battle, which proved to be a beneficial addition for The Friday Night Delight. With a well-timed Scissors Kick, Truth dropped Chris Jericho and covered him for the pinfall. Next week, Morrison and McIntyre will meet in a No Disqualification title match on SmackDown.

Women's Champion Michelle McCool, Layla and Beth Phoenix attacked Mickie James (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Claiming that Mickie James is leaving SmackDown for good, Women’s Champion Michelle McCool and Layla hosted an in-ring going away party for Mickie James. As usual, the duo hurled insults, such as “Piggy James.” After exchanging words, the party was spoiled when a full-blown brawl broke out with Maria battling Layla, and Michelle battling Mickie.

Then, Beth Phoenix charged into the ring to join the fray. At first she hesitated as to which side she was going to choose, but then finally grabbed Maria and cleared her from the ring. Next, The Glamazon helped Layla hold Mickie, while Michelle smashed cake in her face and poured a bowl of punch over her head. Mickie was reduced to tears after the ugly assault. Mickie and Michelle will meet again at Royal Rumble. (Match preview)

Cryme Tyme vs. Charlie Haas & Mike Knox ended in a No Contest (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Before this tag team battle could really get going, Kane entered the arena to make a bold statement by tossing all four Superstars from the ring. Clearly, The Big Red Monster is ready for Royal Rumble.

The Great Khali & Matt Hardy def. The Hart Dynasty (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Despite the sexy, smart and powerful Natalya’s attempt at distracting The Great Khali outside of the ring, his partner, Matt Hardy, took care of business by wrapping up David Hart Smith in an inside cradle to get the win.

Eye witness comments on Orton/fan incident
Posted by Chris Kaufman on 01/21/2010 at 03:07 PM

Wickedlocal.com is reporting that, according to an eye witness, Randy Orton did not assault a 15 year old fan as both the fan and his mother have claimed.

Stephen Addonizio, who was sitting in his car during the incident, claims that Orton was approached by a dozen or so fans for autographs, but Orton refused the fans by simply walking past them. The 15 year old and his mother claim that Orton spat gum in the kid's face, however, according to Addonizio, "He [Orton] just kept walking past them to get into his car."

Randy Orton responds to recent assault charges
Posted by Chris Kaufman on 01/20/2010 at 05:27 PM

Randy Orton posted the following message on his website about the alleged incident that took place after the Boston show at Kowloon’s restaurant:

“Here’s what happened: I walked out of Kowloon’s Friday night around 12:30-1 a.m. with Santino and a police officer escort. As I was being rudely hounded for pictures and autos (I had a 6:40 a.m. flight through Minni to Lincoln, then a drive to Omaha, a match, a drive back to Omaha, then a charter to Minni, and a driver to Rochester for the next show the next day, btw), I was confronted by an older women who said: ‘Hey Randy, you spit on my handicapped son a few years ago at a show, what do you have to say about that?’ My replay...`So Sue me.’ Then I proceeded to my car, with Santino and the cop and drove back to our hotel by the Boston airport. I know I have been a bit of a hothead in the past, but I DID NOT spit gum and call names to any child. The women is claiming I called her son a `retard’ 3 times, and spit gum in his face. Come on people, even at my worst temperament, I would never call a handicapped child something awful like that. I’ll actually sign anything for any child with any disability. I heard just today from WWE attorneys that this women filed assault charges against me 4 days later? Hmmm, oh, and what about the dozens of cops at the restaurant that were there for crowd control since there were over 100 wrestling fans there? Not to mention the cop that escorted me to my freaking car. I’ll be happy when this is over. I guess if I’ve learned anything from this, it is not to ever challenge anyone to sue me.”

New Diva being called up to main roster?

The woman who appears with CM Punk on this week’s Friday Night Smackdown as a fan is actually WWE developmental Diva Serena Deeb, who had a brief appearance on ECW last year. There’s talk that this could be her call-up to the main roster.

While details have yet to be disclosed, it has been confirmed that Alissa Flash is gone from TNA Wrestling.

Flash, whose real name is Melissa Anderson, had been with the company since January 2008 when she began working under a hood as Raisha Saeed, Awesome Kong's mouthpiece.

The Saeed character was written out last fall as Anderson began regularly appearing as Flash, where she had matches with the likes Sarita and Hamada.

She hadn't appeared on television since December and was not used at this week's slate of television tapings.

Word of Anderson's departure from the company first began circulating after a report on the Diva-Dirt.com website yesterday. She later confirmed said report via her Twitter account.

Her bio has since been removed from the TNA website.

Anderson then posted this message in response to the report:

"I guess that those 6 copies of paperwork that my manager, agent, lawyer, and TNA officials toiled over for a month & I signed & overnighted weren't contracts. I thought they were, I thought I had signed for a one year deal, but then again, what the hell do I know...?"

Awesome Kong verlaat TNA met onmiddelijke ingang

TNA Knockout Awesome Kong, who got into a physical altercation with TNA backstage announcer Bubba the Love Sponge at Monday's iMPACT! tapings, has given notice that she's leaving the company.

Kong's departure from the company appears to be effective immediately, and she said during the video cast that she informed TNA she won't be attending the upcoming UK tour.

It should be noted that many TNA wrestlers
and knockouts who have told management they are leaving have been persuaded into staying, but at this point Awesome Kong's relationship with TNA appears to be off.

    Kelly Kelly def. Jillian
    Shelton Benjamin def. Vance Archer
Kane def. Chris Jericho by Count-out

Each episode of “WWE Superstars,” brings you explosive matches from each of WWE’s three brands, and this week was no exception. Fans in attendance cheered along as Kelly Kelly shut up her competition, Shelton Benjamin achieved a first in WWE and Kane sent his opponent packing.

Don’t know where to catch “WWE Superstars”? Find WGN America in your area. Can't see “WWE Superstars” on WGN America in your area? Stay with WWE.com for full results, photos and video clips of all the action.

Kane def. Chris Jericho by Count-out (PHOTOS | WATCH)
The main event of “WWE Superstars” pitted the humongous Kane against the cagey Chris Jericho. Though fans might have expected The Big Red Monster to plow right through his smaller opponent, the first-ever Undisputed Champion showed the WWE Universe exactly why he claims to be the best in the world at what he does. Jericho put up a tremendous fight, attempting to fell his monstrous opponent through the relentless application of a vicious sleeper hold. It would take much more than that to take Kane out of commission however, as the nefarious Superstar soon found out. Running out of options, Jericho escaped from the ring, allowing himself to be counted out, giving The Big Red Monster the win.

Shelton Benjamin def. Vance Archer (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Since his debut, Vance Archer has made quite an impact on ECW, tearing through any competitor brave enough to step in the ring against him. One Superstar, however, has proven himself to be a difficult obstacle for the intense young ring warrior, and his name is Shelton Benjamin. Late in 2009 The Gold Standard proudly handed Archer his first loss via disqualification, and on the most recent “WWE Superstars,” Benjamin achieved another first as he rolled up his nemesis to become the first ring warrior to pin the ruthless athlete.

Kelly Kelly def. Jillian (PHOTOS | WATCH)
On a normal week, Jillian’s sense-shattering singing is confined to Raw, but this week the WWE Universe found itself covering its ears on Thursday night as the tone-deaf songstress opened “WWE Superstars” with her rendition of a Miley Cyrus song. Luckily for the fans in attendance, her performance was interrupted by the arrival of her opponent, Kelly Kelly. The blonde bombshell continued her campaign to save our eardrums by pinning Jillian and sending her packing.

Trent Barreta & Caylen Croft vs. Goldust & Yoshi Tatsu
ECW Champion Christian def. William Regal (Disqualification)

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Domination is the one thing on No. 1 contender Ezekiel Jackson’s mind, and with his mentor, William Regal, on his side, Big Zeke is ready to do whatever it takes to become the new ECW Champion at Royal Rumble.

ECW Champion Christian def. William Regal (Disqualification) (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Captain Charisma earned his second win against The British Brawler in just six days. But this week on ECW on Syfy, Christian defeated Regal by disqualification when the gargantuan No. 1 contender Ezekiel Jackson became involved in the match. The ECW Champion never had a chance to have a victory celebration, as Regal and Jackson double-teamed him with a devastating, brutal attack, leaving him helpless in the ring.

With less than two weeks to Royal Rumble, Big Zeke is gaining the momentum he needs to be victorious in the ECW Title match against Christian. But will the ever-resilient Captain Charisma bounce back and prove why he’s held the ECW Title since July, as the longest-reigning champion in WWE? Or will the powerhouse Jackson continue his path of total domination with William Regal at his side?

Zack Ryder’s major announcement (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Zack Ryder returned to ECW on Syfy this week, still bragging about ending Tommy Dreamer’s career weeks ago, and boasted about his recent win over The Hurricane. The cocky Long Island loudmouth announced to the WWE Universe that he is “the new heart and soul superhero of ECW, Zack Ryder.” But after ECW ring announcer Savannah accidentally botched the exact wording of Ryder’s new self-given title, his girlfriend, Rosa Mendes, took care of the situation, telling off Savannah in Spanish. But during the Divas’ scuffle, The Hurricane appeared, attacking Ryder out of nowhere.

Will The Hurricane and Ryder get a rematch in the ring? Or will another Superstar step up to try to quiet the Long Island loudmouth?

Trent Barreta & Caylen Croft vs. Goldust & Yoshi Tatsu (PHOTOS | WATCH)
The ongoing rivalry between ECW newcomers Trent Barreta & Caylen Croft and ECW’s odd couple, Goldust & Yoshi Tatsu, intensified this week when these duos met in tag team action. In recent singles action, Barreta and Tatsu each earned victories, but this week, it was the video game-playing team who stole a victory when Croft pinned the battle-tested veteran, Goldust, giving them the upper hand for now.

These brash best buddies have promised they’re going to change the world and have Slammy Award aspirations. But is this the end of their rivalry with Goldust & Tatsu? Who will challenge ECW’s newest tag team next?

A special edition of ‘The Abraham Washington Show’ (PHOTOS | WATCH)
“The Abraham Washington Show” sported an international flair Tuesday night, as Raw’s Santino Marella filled in as special guest host of the critically-acclaimed talk show. After offering WWE Hall of Famer Tony Atlas an Italian lesson, ECW’s Moscow Mauler, Vladimir Kozlov, joined the show. The former Ruthless Roundtable member wanted to clear up a few misconceptions the WWE Universe may have about him, and admitted he was hanging around with the wrong crowd before. He also professed his love for the United States, as well as all it has to offer, such as chili cheese fries and Hannah Montana.

What’s next for Kozlov in the Land of the Extreme? Will he be able to convince the WWE Universe he’s changed his wicked ways?

    ECW in Royal Rumble
Five ECW Superstars will participate in the Royal Rumble match Jan. 31 – Shelton Benjamin, Yoshi Tatsu, William Regal, Zack Ryder and The Hurricane. Will one of these Extreme Superstars be the last one standing and earn a main event match at WrestleMania XXVI? Tune in to Royal Rumble, live and only on pay-per-view, Jan. 31 at 8/9 CT.

New Japan Pro Wrestling star Kazuchika Okada is headed to TNA Wrestling
    Kazuchika Okada
As noted earlier, New Japan Pro Wrestling star Kazuchika Okada is headed to TNA Wrestling, according to a message on the Puroresu Spirit Facebook.com page. Okada, who is known as the Young Lion, will wrestle in the United States for TNA to gain experience until he's ready to come back to New Japan and be a top competitor.

The official announcement reads: As for the 22 year old Kazuchika Okada, NJPW has high hopes for the Young Lion as they plan to send him to train and wrestle for TNA Wrestling. The President of NJPW Sugabayashi has stated that Okada is still young and that the plan is for Okada to stay as long as needed for him to come back to NJPW and become a real contender. So at this time it looks like he may be in TNA for the next 2-3 years.

WWE Champion Sheamus def. Evan Bourne
Mark Henry def. Jack Swagger in an "All-American American" Challenge
John Cena & Kofi Kingston def. The Legacy
Eve & Gail Kim def. Maryse & Alicia Fox
    Randy Orton def. Chris Masters
Unified Tag Team Champions DX & Hornswoggle def. United States Champion The Miz, Big Show & Jon Heder

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - In the new comedy When In Rome, starring Raw’s special guest co-hosts Jon Heder and Don Johnson, a woman finds herself engulfed by an over abundance of affection from her suitors. Unlike the premise of their movie, though, Heder and Johnson found themselves surrounded by anything but love as Raw Superstars turned on one another in the lead up to the Royal Rumble.

Unified Tag Team Champions DX & Hornswoggle def. United States Champion The Miz, Big Show & Jon Heder (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Jon Heder has demonstrated his unique ability as an actor. As a wrestler, not so much. The When in Rome star teamed with the newly formed squad of United States Champion The Miz & Big Show to take on Unified Tag Team Champions DX & Hornswoggle.

While Miz & Show assured Heder he’d be just fine in their hands, when The World’s Largest Athlete ended up outside the ring in pain, the actor was forced to enter the ring, where he suffered a humiliating loss and had to have his co-star, Don Johnson, escort him out.

Before the celebration kicked off, though, John Cena grabbed a mic and informed the match participants that it will be he who proves to be the last man standing at Royal Rumble. As to be expected, Big Show, Triple H and Shawn Michaels each took exception. So much so, in fact, that DX proceeded to toss Show and Cena over the top rope and outside the ring. And then, in a shocking show of independence, The Game heaved his own partner HBK over the top rope, telling him that the WWE Championship and WrestleMania are the two things he lives for. And that he, too, will compete in the 2010 Royal Rumble Match.

Psych stars James Roday and Dule Hill act as special guest hosts next week
Fellow USA Network stars James Roday and Dule Hill, from the hit series Psych, will put their special powers on display next week when the pair drops by Raw as special guest hosts.

Randy Orton def. Chris Masters (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Turn about is fair play. And since Randy Orton looked on as WWE Champion Sheamus battled Evan Bourne earlier in the night, it seemed only fitting for The Celtic Warrior to look on as The Viper clashed with Chris Masters. The No. 1 contender for the Irishman’s title managed to best Masters’ size and strength for the win. That’s when he realized how determined his Royal Rumble opponent can be.

Sheamus climbed into the ring and nailed The Viper’s face with his massive boot, leaving Orton motionless on the canvas.

Gail Kim & Eve def. Alicia Fox & Maryse (PHOTOS | WATCH)
And then there were four. In the Divas Championship Tournament, the matchups include Eve versus Maryse and Gail Kim versus Alicia Fox. This week, however, the WWE Universe got to witness Gail Kim & Eve take on Alicia Fox & Maryse. As their tag partners looked on intently, Eve overcame the leggy onslaught of Alicia with a submission move to gain a bit of momentum heading into the tournament semi-finals.

John Cena & Kofi Kingston def. The Legacy (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Revenge seems almost too good for Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase. During last week’s Triple Threat Match to determine the No. 1 contender to the WWE Title, The Legacy duo stuck their noses in the match, causing their ringleader Randy Orton to prevail over John Cena and Kofi Kingston. This week, it was payback time.

Cena paired with Kofi against Rhodes & DiBiase, and the two seemed to relish taking out their frustrations on the underhanded henchmen. While The Legacy are certainly a force to contend with in the ring, a miscue between the multi-generation Superstars allowed Cena & Kofi to capitalize and earn the “W.”

Guest co-host Jon Heder arranged Unified Tag Team Champions DX vs. United States Champion The Miz & Big Show (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Like his most infamous character, Napoleon Dynamite, actor Jon Heder probably got picked on growing up. After all, what type of damaged personality would willingly choose to pair up United States Champion The Miz with Big Show? While the actor and his co-host, Don Johnson, addressed the Knoxville faithful, Heder even arranged a main event match: Miz & Big Show vs. Unified Tag Team Champions DX.

Later in the evening, after a rather abrupt negotiation, compliments of Hornswoggle and Triple H, Miz & Show agreed to make the bout a Six-Man Tag Team Match featuring DX & Hornswoggle against Miz, Show & Jon Heder!

Mark Henry def. Jack Swagger in an “All-American American” Challenge (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Things are getting a tad embarrassing for Jack Swagger. For the second week running, the former collegiate All-Star wrestler issued an “All-American American” Challenge, in which the winner is the Superstar who tosses his opponent over the top rope. After losing the challenge to Santino Marella last Monday, Swagger had his hands full against Santino’s substitute, Mark Henry. The World’s Strongest Man successfully heaved Swagger over the top rope and into a state of uncontrollable frustration.

WWE Champion Sheamus def. Evan Bourne (PHOTOS | WATCH)
WWE Champion Sheamus continues to punctuate his matches with exclamation points of pain. This week, The Celtic Warrior once again faced Evan Bourne, who wanted a rematch after losing to Sheamus two weeks ago.

The match took on an ominous undercurrent as Randy Orton, who will challenge Sheamus in a title match at Royal Rumble, observed from outside the ring. Unfortunately for Bourne, the Irishman seemed intent on sending a message as he destroyed his opponent for the victory and cast an intensely defiant glare at The Viper.

World Heavyweight Champion The Undertaker confronted Mr. McMahon and Shawn Michaels (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Watching Bret Hart’s return to WWE after a 12-year absence, many of those watching shared the “Hit Man’s” sense of relief and forgiveness. Then, after Mr. McMahon appeared to make amends with his longtime nemesis, it was difficult not to also feel the sting of betrayal when The Chairman kicked Hart and left him writhing on the canvas.

Mr. McMahon did not apologize for his actions. On the contrary, he dug his heels in even farther. After stating last week that Hart would never again be seen in WWE, The Chairman insisted that Hart deserved such rough treatment.

One man who felt Hart’s pain acutely emerged to not only confront Mr. McMahon for his questionable actions, but also to meet head-on with a longtime nemesis of his own. World Heavyweight Champion The Undertaker appeared on Raw and bluntly put The Chairman in his place, even calling his actions cowardly. As Mr. McMahon slipped out of the ring, The Deadman went on to address Shawn Michaels’ question: Will Undertaker battle HBK again in a rematch of their legendary WrestleMania bout?

The answer, sadly for WWE Universe members, was an emphatic “no.” The Phenom may have denied HBK, but Michaels realized that his ticket could be stamped were he to win the Royal Rumble, in which case he could choose the World Championship for which he would like to compete.

WWE tries out new character at RAW taping

WWE tries out new character at RAW taping
Posted by Chris Kaufman on 01/19/2010 at 01:22 PM

Thanks to PWPix.net for the following:

After numerous years in WWE's developmental system, Ryan Reeves participated in his first dark match before last night's Raw telecast. Going under the name Skip Sheffield, he defeated Chavo Guerrero. Reeves, who has undertaken a cowboy persona, cut a promo before his match about being from the South. He got the crowd to chant "yip yip yip" with him, which is something he does at Florida Championship Wrestling live events.

After being one of the eight finalists on WWE's fourth installment of Tough Enough, Reeves was signed to a developmental contract. He spent time in Ohio Valley Wrestling and Deep South Wrestling from 2005 to 2007 before being released in January of the latter year. Reeves later returned to OVW and managed to score a second developmental contract with WWE following a September 2008 tryout.

He initially debuted in FCW with a Terminator-esque character he developed called Ryback, but adopted the Skip Sheffield persona this past fall.

Update on John Cena's health issues

It was recently reported that John Cena is suffering from back problems, but he is also having issues with his neck, both of which stem from his surgery a few years back. With Cena being one of the guys who legitimately travels on the road about 300 days a year, it definitely lessens the time has to recover from any ring injuries.

    - At last word, the former Mr. Kennedy, Ken Anderson, was not under a long-term contract to TNA. He is said to be working show-to-show for the time being.

    - ODB has been working with a ruptured implant as of late, which explains why she pulled a falsie out during the conclusion of her Genesis bout with Tara. The injury occurred a few weeks ago, but she managed to pull through. She worked this week's set of television tapings and will be getting surgery to correct the problem in the next week or so.

    - Chris Sabin, who suffered both a concussion and neck injury off an enzuigiri from Bubba Ray a few months ago, is said to be fine now.

AWESOME KONG SLAAT BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE OM HAITI

BTLS now claims he was attacked by Awesome Kong
Posted by Mark Virginia on 01/19/2010 at 11:33 AM

    Credit: PWInsider.com

Hulk Hogan was a guest on this morning’s Bubba the Love Sponge program and revealed that the reason Bubba the Love Sponge was sent home from yesterday’s production meeting was because he was assaulted by TNA star Awesome Kong.

BUBBA: She was wearing wrestling gear, and she came in on me and sucker punched me right on my left cheeck, and I was like, what’s going on… then she came out me again, hit me again in the mouth, and she goes, “This if for Haiti! This is for Haiti!” and I’m lke “What is going on?” Finally I put my left hand out and push her away from me, and she comes at me again and I just cover up, because I cannot fight back on a woman. Not only will I be fired from TNA, which I probably am, but my radio career is gone if I take a woman out!

HOGAN: I tell you what, after what happened, if you had clocked her you’d have got away with it. What nobody knows, and this is the real truth, that there were certain people there… she should get off the property, she should be fired immediately, that’s it. It was so violent. You could have actually lost an eye, you could have had your teeth knocked out. But, to give you your creedo, you are the one who said not to fire her.

Update on Scott Hall not wrestling at Genesis

Update on Scott Hall not wrestling at Genesis
Posted by Mark Virginia on 01/18/2010 at 01:54 AM

    Credit: F4WOnline.com

There are rumors that Scott Hall claimed he had a groin injury which is why he didn't wrestle at tonight's Genesis PPV with Kevin Nash. The story goes that Hall actually put on his trunks for the first time in a while and did not want to wrestle because he was worried about how he looked. Hall apparently begged to be taken off the card which is why Waltman tagged with Nash.

It was said that Waltman didn't want to wrestle either but obviously ended up doing so. Eric Young was set to be Nash's partner if things with Waltman didn't go through.

According to Bryan Alvarez, TNA made the decision to not use Hall for quite some time before the PPV.

More on the six-sided ring being replaced

More on the six-sided ring being replaced
Posted by Mark Virginia on 01/17/2010 at 08:24 PM

TNA has revamped the Impact Zone for tonight's Genesis PPV as a traditional four-sided ring has been placed alongside a ramp set up all the way from the stage to the ring, similar to how WCW and ECW formerly presented themselves on some PPV events.

Furthermore, there are reports of some fans chanting "We want six sides" live in the building.

Reaction among wrestlers to the company's decision to replace the six-sided ring with a traditional ring is said to be mixed. None of the workers were informed of the change before they arrived to the building for tonight's show, so there was much shock upon arrival.

The decision to get rid of TNA's former trademark was made by both Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff.

Hogan talked about TNA being proud to be a wrestling company and promised a huge night and more changes to come! The legend also stated "What are you gonna do Vince McMahon, now that TNA is coming for you?"

    - The first surprise of the night was The Amazing Red's X Division Championship opponent, who was Brian Kendrick! After an amazing, all-out, high-flying bout, Amazing Red pulled off the win by hitting the Code Red finisher on Kendrick!

    - TNA newcomer Sean Morley upset Daniels, beating him with his top rope splash for the pin and win. Daniels hit Morley with all of his high-octane offense, but Morley countered him at every turn. In the end, both Morley and Daniels battled on the top rope, with Morley blocking a hurricanrana and hitting his finisher for the victory.

    - Tara regained the Knockouts Championship by defeating ODB 2-0 in the Best Of 3 Falls match! Tara scored an early pin at the near 3min mark with a small package, then later hit her Widow's Peak finisher on ODB for the pin and the title!

    - "The Blueprint" Matt Morgan and Hernandez became the NEW TNA World Tag Team Champions by defeating The British Invasion! After the action broke down among all the superstars, Matt Morgan was able to hit his Carbon Footprint finisher on Brutus Magnus to get the win and the championship! After the bout, the new titleholders celebrated the huge win!

    - In the back, Abyss and Bobby Lashley got into a brawl, resulting in Abyss knocking Lashley out of tonight's match. Hulk Hogan told Abyss he would still have a bout tonight and that he should leave all the hardcore craziness in the locker room and prove himself in the ring!

    - In a bout filled with plenty of back-and-fourth action and submission skills, Desmond Wolfe got the win with a vicious lariat after The Pope missed a knee in the corner. After hitting the big clotheslines, Wolfe covered Dinero for the pin. Wolfe was accompanied to the ring by a beautiful brunette.

    - Backstage, Eric Bischoff told Jeremy Borash he would no longer be conducting interviews as punishment for helping Mick Foley. Instead, he handed the duties over to Christy Hemme, who interviewed the arriving "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, who said he would let everyone know when he was ready why he came to TNA!

    - Next up, Beer Money took on the team of Kevin Nash and Sean Waltman! During the bout, Scott Hall came out from the back and distracted Beer Money, allowing Nash and Waltman to gain the advantage. However, Hall went after a fan at ringside, resulting in Waltman trying to calm Hall down. Inside the ring, Nash went for a powerbomb, but Storm superkicked Nash and sent him into a follow-thru by Roode for the pin and the win! After the bout, Nash wasn't very happy with Waltman and Hall.

    - Up next, it was time for the debut of the major acquisition...who turned out to be MR. ANDERSON! It was a familiar entrance for the new TNA Superstar, who spoke about crossing the line and coming to Total Nonstop Action! However, his first bout would be a challenge as he faced "The Monster" Abyss! In the end, after hitting his "Shock Treatment" on Anderson, Abyss went to the outside to use a chair from a fan. However, Anderson took brass knuckles from his tights and smashed Abyss with them after the referee took the chair away from Abyss. Mr. Anderson comes to TNA Wrestling and wins his debut against Abyss!

    - In an amazing main event match, AJ Styles successfully defended the TNA World Heavyweight Championship against Kurt Angle...with unexpected help from Ric Flair! After Angle had Styles trapped in the Ankle Lock, Flair pulled the referee from the ring. Later, Flair threw Styles the World Title, and uncharacteristic of AJ, he used it to knock Angle out! Flair threw referee Earl Hebner back in the ring to register the three count! A very controversial finish to the main event, with AJ Styles using Flair's questionable tactics to get the win! After the bout, AJ and Flair celebrated in the ring and even strutted up the entrance ramp!
