Nash Talks Why His Match with Punk Never Happened Posted by Steve Carrier on 03/24/2012 at 10:06 AM
In an interview on PWTorch's Livecast, Kevin Nash revealed the full story on why his match with C.M. Punk was derailed after SummerSlam last year. Here is what he said.
"I'll tell you what nobody knows about this entire thing," Nash said. "I never went into it and WWE never went into it because of the privacy issue. What happened was, because of the Wellness Program, because my dad died of a heart attack at 36 years old, they do beyond a thorough physical. Well, my heart and everything else was fine, but I'm on Plavix and Plavix is a blood platelet agulator; they call it a blood thinner. It's not, it stops your platelets from sticking together so you don't get cardiovascular disease and blockages in your arteries and have a heart attack. it's also for stroke. It's very common to take with a statin drug if you have anybody in your heredity who died before 50 let alone having a father who died of a massive coronary at age 36.
"So I was on Plavix. So this comes through. When the doctor sees I'm on Plavix, I can't wrestle. So now I'm supposed to wrestle C.M. Punk. I can't. They won't medically clear me. Triple H has to take my spot. It screws up the entire angle. That's how all that came about. WWE would never - because that's the class of the program - let that come out, but I need to make sure people realize it wasn't Creative's [fault], it was that a 52 year old guy was on Plavix and I had to go off it. I had to be off it for a certain amount of time before I could go back to work. It just so happened that I was finishing the Soderbergh film "Magic Mike" at the time, and I had to go shoot that, so it coincided with me going away for a while. I took the shot with the sledgehammer in Buffalo at Night of Champions and that got me away until I could be clear, and then I came back and we went into the match with Paul [Triple H] and I. At that point, Phil [C.M. Punk] and I sort of missed our opportunity to have that match. That's the true untold story that I give only Wade Keller (laughs)."

Q1: Impact opened with a 1.05 rating for Dixie Carter
and Sting addressing events with Robert Roode at the end of TNA's Victory Road
PPV Sunday night. The rating has to be disappointing coming off a PPV and also
indicative that TNA did not reach their general audience with the "attempt to
create buzz" PPV finish to draw in an audience for the immediate fall-out. (down
10.8% vs. 2011-Q1 average)
Q2: Impact did increase to a 1.15 rating for the follow-up to the opening angle with Sting
and Dixie, one commercial break, and the first-half of a four-way X Division
match. (even vs. 2011-Q2 average)
Q3: Impact dipped to a 1.08 rating for the second-half of the X Division matched
interrupted by Bully Ray, the first of three Repo Games segments, one
commercial, and the first-half of ODB & EY vs. Sarita & Rosita for the
KO Tag Titles. (down 7.4% vs. 2011-Q3 average)
Q4: Impact reached its
first hour peak with a 1.16 rating for the
second-half of the KO Tag Title match, plus backstage segments and video
packages, and two full commercial breaks. The Q4 rating typically dips below a
1.00 when there are two breaks, but it went the opposite direction this week.
(up 3.1% vs. 2011-Q4 average)
Q5: Impact increased slightly to a
show-high 1.18 rating for James Storm's mid-ring
promo and superkick to Bobby Roode's lawyer, plus one commercial break. (down
4.2% vs. 2011-Q5 average)
Q6: Impact nosedived to a 1.00 rating for the Angle-Garett Bischoff three-minute
challenge, plus one-and-a-half commercial breaks. (down 13.8% vs. 2011-Q6
average)
Q7: Impact never really recovered from the Q6 drop, but
increased slightly to a 1.04 rating for a TNA Tag
Title match, Hulk Hogan backstage setting up a main event segment appearance,
more Repo Games, and one commercial break. (down 8.8% vs. 2011-Q7
average)
Q8: Impact was essentially even with a 1.05 rating for Storm vs. Daniels & Kazarian in a
handicap match, one commercial break, and Dixie Carter bringing out Hulk Hogan
to tease a GM change to close the show. (down 10.8% vs. 2011-Q8 average)

Matt Hardy Talks About Getting Out of Rehab Posted by Steve Carrier on
03/22/2012 at 10:52 PM
Matt Hardy spoke to the Poughkeepsie Journal
about wrestling Matt Taven at WrestleFest 16 tomorrow night, March 23rd in
Poughkeepsie, New York. Hardy's girlfriend, Reby Sky, will be facing former WWE
Diva Melina on the card. Hardy credits Reby for him working the independent
circuit.
"The main reason I'm doing these shows is because of her," said
Hardy. "One of my goals is to help her realize her dream of being an in-ring
competitor. I promise it will be entertaining."
It's been a wild year
for Hardy, who recently completed a WWE-sponsored rehab program. After the
turbulent year that he's endured, Hardy says he's in a good place.
"I'm
at a really good place in life right now," he admitted. "The things I went
through in life were life-changing and changed the way I think. I want to
appreciate every day in life."
While Hardy was appreciative for the
WWE's Wellness Policy and paying for his rehab, he was critical of the company's
grueling schedule.
"There is a huge positive side to what WWE does with
the Wellness Policy," Hardy said. "The only thing I can really be critical of
WWE about, looking at it right now, is that they have to remember that the
people who work there aren't machines. Wrestling isn't easy. It's like a car
crash. I wish they would give guys a few weeks off. I think guys need to take
mandatory time off. I know it's tough when they need to promote the key names,
but they need to keep guys healthy. It would help them not to burn out and from
tempting them to make mistakes."
Northeast Wrestling's WrestleFest 16
takes place tomorrow night, March 23rd at the Mid Hudson Civic Center in
Poughkeepsie, New York.
- Talents in FCW that are considered as the guys who are most ready for a main roster spot include Husky Harris, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Damien Sandow.
Triple H's idea is to not debut guys without a full storyline mapped out and weeks of build. Another idea coming from Triple H is not to debut several new guys around the same time.

Huge
AJ Styles Interview. Talks Russo, Creative, Hogan, Blasts Dirt Sheets, Talks
Faith And More
TNA Wrestler AJ Styles was interviewed by
Dan Cannon of AllWrestling.com on all sorts of different subjects
in a nearly 80 minute interview. Below is a quick recap of just a portion of the
show.
On his match with Ken Anderson against Daniels
and Kaz: I haven't been this happy about a match in a
long time. I think it was outstanding. I think it was one of the better matches
of the night. I'm so proud of Ken. We wrestle such a different style than Ken
and for Ken to be right there toe to toe with us right along, right on time is
super impressive.
On the Sting/Roode PPV finish
and storylines in wrestling: You have to admire how it
was done. It was pretty unique and I haven't seen anything like that before.
Storylines need to continue you know. Bobby Roode is one of the best champions
in a long time. He has it all.
His opinion on
James Storm: Looks like he is going all the way to the
top. I can see he is doing what James Storm does best. Guess we will find out
where it all leads.
Being held
down: I think if you ever give me the ball, I'll
score. But you have to give it to me. I have to play my part as well, I am a
company guy. We all wrestle together, we entertain together and we all make
money together.
On TNA's Twitter
push: I like to get on there and associate and connect
with my fans. See what they want. If they don't like the fact that I wore gloves
on the PPV then let me know. I'm trying something new. I see nothing wrong with
that, I think it's something new.
His Opinion On
The Internet Wrestling Community: I was one of those
guys that used to have the Torch or whatever as an app on my iphone but it's
just so negative and so biased. I just stopped reading it because no matter what
we do, it's never going to be good enough for biased writers. It is what it is
man. We aren't going to have all the money that the other company has but I can
tell you, we have better wrestling than they do. I'm done listening to the
fact that you think you are a genius because you write about a show at your desk
and say you can write a show better than our writers can. Yet, you sit at your
desk and write about a show that happened. There are so many critics that say so
many things and don't get me wrong, some things I agree on but a lot of it I
can't. They aren't there, they have no idea. It's like someone who writes for US
magazine about a celebrity that's totally not true but they got it from a source
who got it from a third hand. It's just ridiculous.
On his time with Ric Flair and his mic skills: I did learn some tricks of the trade from Flair. The fact that I got a
mic in my hand, the more you do something the better you are going to be at it.
I think I can do better with the mic, just have to give me the time and the
right story to tell. I can make it as entertaining as anyone else but you have
to give me a chance. Just like wrestling, you have to give me the ball. Ric
is so spontaneous and quick witted when it comes to stuff like that. Everybody
loves to hear him. Almost doesn't get any better than Flair. He is Ric Flair. As
long as he can still woo, everyone will want to get with
that.
On his promo to Jeff Hardy following Jeff's
return from the Victory Road 2011 debacle: You know I
spoke to Jeff about that. To be honest, I was pretty upset over that. I take a
lot of pride in this company. I've put my body, my life, my livelihood for this
company. But that has been totally squashed and he is kicking major butt right
now. He is in great shape and he is in mentally great shape.
On slowing down with age: Well, things hurt
a little bit longer than they used to. As long as I can get in there and go to
work. I know some guys have said that I've slowed down since I was in Ring Of
Honor or whatever other indy I was in. That's just working smarter, psychology.
It's about finding the right time to do something and making it
special.
On seeing more submission wrestling
lately: Ever so slightly there are some guys throwing
in some submissions. I threw in a flying armbar ever once in a blue moon. I wish
I could do that more but it doesn't seem to be the case in some of my
matches.
On the creative changes, who was his
favorite and who was his least favorite: I can tell
you it was Dusty Rhodes who put me and Daniels in the first 30 minute Iron Man
match in TNA. I think it was Jeff Jarrett that put me, Daniels and Samoa Joe in
the main event for the X-Division title. Vince Russo also put us in great
storylines, like with Christian, Tomko and the like. I can tell you this.
I've seen a lot of things like 'Fire Vince Russo'. Russo didn't come up with all
of these ideas. Sure he came up with a few things that weren't that good and
weren't pleasing to the ears or to the eyes but no one does. Vince wasn't all
that people thought he was as far as this 'terrible writer'. Vince was a great
friend of mine and I'm going to miss him not being here. But for people to say
all these terrible things about him and it's just not all true. They have no
idea, even I have no idea of all the things that went on backstage when they are
writing the show. You have to think, I don't know how many writers the other
company has, I'm sure its a butt load of them. We have 2 or 3 writers, that's
it. Even if he did, you have to give him credit for putting in so much.
Honestly, I hope Vince is enjoying the time off and not have to focus on
wrestling. If I had to go through that much in my time in wrestling, I know I
would have gone crazy. I just hope he is enjoying himself and his time in
Colorado.
On the new creative team of Bruce
Prichard, Dave Lagana and Matt Conway: Well, Matt
Conway, I've been working with him. Lagana, I've actually got to communicate
with him a lot and Bruce as well. I think the fact that we have been able to
communicate is a plus. The lack of communication is what screws things up.
Without that you can't see their vision for what they want. You end up with two
different pictures for the same thing.
On Hulk
Hogan changing AJ's preconceived notions of Hulk Hogan prior to him coming in to
TNA: Sure he has. He is another guy who if I needed to
talk to, I can.
On the removal of the six sided
ring: I liked the six sided ring because it was
different. It was who we were. We didn't look like anyone else. Maybe AAA or
whoever was using the six sided ring for a second but we had our own thing and
it was different from anyone else. When I took the first bump (in the standard
ring) I was relived that my back wasn't breaking in half because the six sided
ring is a lot rougher on your body. The squared ring is a lot safer to bump in
and so it changed my mind pretty quickly.
On
Austin Aries: A-double is the man. I've known this for
a long time. It's no secret. It was just getting him here and letting him do his
thing. He is a great wrestler. He helped our roster. He is an amazing athlete,
he is an amazing wrestler.
On being offered a WWE
developmental contract for $500 a week and turning it down: I could tell you what would have happened. Literally 3 months later,
WWE pulled their developmental. I'm sure they would have just dumped my
contract.
On his Christian
beliefs. I have no problem letting everyone know that
I'm a Christian. I believe Jesus died for my sins. I don't deny that. In fact,
I'll tell everyone that asks. I think that because I put GOD first that I'm
blessed because of that.

The former WWE King of the Ring was set to take part in a multi-man match with Kamala Jr. - Team Kamala vs. Team Showtime.

Story on Shane Douglas' WWE RAW Incident Posted by Steve Carrier on 03/21/2012 at 08:33 AM
- The official Facebook page for Extreme Reunion posted the following description of Shane Douglas being escorted out of RAW in Philadelphia on Monday. Douglas tells Vince McMahon and Dixie Carter that he is taking the business back and occupying them.
"Pre-story: Shane Douglas attended WWE Raw 3/19 in Philly wearing a Lucha mask and sitting hard shot camera side right in the middle. During the Kane / Big Show match up, Shane became very hot wearing a long sleeve shirt and mask and had to "get out of that shirt and mask" dying of heat. He wore the mask to conceal his identity so he would not disturb the show, but became irate of Vince McMahon's product that he got up, turned his back on the product and proceeded to walk out of the building on his own. While he was walking out several small E-C-W chants ensued, before security converged on Shane to take him into custody. Video of this is online here on youtube and is already at 65,000 views in 24 hours! This was no invasion angle, as it was not planned to be that at all, but just a guy looking to take in some wrestling action, and just getting infuriated with what he was watching.
Extreme Reunion officials were contacted earlier today 3/20 that a fan happened to take his camera and put it into video mode to catch up with Shane Douglas as he was being detained by security at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia at WWE Raw 3/19 taping. The fan ran from the opposite side of the building to not only grab this great candid video, but also got to meet "The Franchise" one on one outside after being thrown out for associating with the Franchise.
Shane Douglas and the Extreme Reunion officials were busy all day Monday 3/19 shooting videos throughout South Philly and Northeast Philadelphia. In South Philly Shane stopped by his old stomping grounds the ECW Arena, and as he was getting ready to leave, the new owners of the building invited Shane in to use the building for whatever. Interesting. Shane also stopped down on Jewelers row to visit longtime friend and former ECW owner Tod Gordon. Later in the evening he was seen in a confrontation with Pitbull Gary Wolf in South Philly. More videos to come.
All these things on 3/19 was to raise awareness and publicity for the 4/28 Extreme Reunion event in Philadelphia."
Triple H Issues Statement on FCW Shutting Down Posted by Steve Carrier on 03/20/2012 at 06:03 PM
WWE.com has addressed the online rumors that Florida Championship Wrestling is shutting down, vehemently denying the "erroneous" report by an "unreliable online news source."
The WWE website reached out to WWEs Executive Vice President of Talent, Paul Levesque (Triple H) to address this issue:
It is absolutely not true. FCW is not closing. I dont know how the rumor started but I believe its a situation where the dirt sheets want to believe they have the scoop on everything. If anything, we are in the process of ramping up our entire developmental system. Its the lifeblood of our company. Its what feeds our future and in no way are we going to close it down.
Triple H acknowledged that there are plans to overhaul the developmental system and revealed that there is a "major announcement" coming shortly after WrestleMania regarding the future of WWE developmental:
WWEs developmental system is being revamped, not shut down. If anything, its going to get bigger and better than ever. WWE Developmental cultivates the future talent of WWE. By no means is it going to get smaller or shut down.
- There are several TNA contracts coming up in the near future. The current deal
for Austin Aries is coming to the end of its short term contract shortly.
Most people within WWE did not know Shane Douglas was in the building for last night's RAW Supershow until they read it online. Douglas was trying to unmask and be seen on TV but it didn't work out that way.
Security, believing Douglas had sneaked into the show, detained Douglas as he tried to get an ECW chant going and walked from the arena out into the concourse. The people that were with Douglas exited the building and once he produced a ticket for security to see, they had to let him exit as well.
Douglas flew back home to Pittsburgh last night after RAW. The stunt was done as a way to promote his upcoming Extreme Reunion project.
Shane Douglas at Ringside During Raw Posted by Steve Carrier on 03/19/2012 at 10:27 PM
Former WWE, WCW and ECW star Shane Douglas made a surprise appearance in the audience of Monday's RAW Supershow from Philadelphia.
Douglas appeared during the Kane vs. Big Show match. He was ringside and wore a lucha libre mask and white t-shirt. He took the shirt off to reveal a black & yellow Franchise t-shirt and removed the mask to reveal his identity. He screamed a bunch of stuff and tried to get the audience to notice him. Not many people in the crowd appeared to know/care what was going on,
Not all of the stunt was shown on television. After Big Show speared Kane, a white t-shirt can be seen being thrown in the audience.
Shortly after the outburst, he fled the ringside area and left the arena.
Daniel Bryan Talks WrestleMania, Working as a Heel Posted by Steve Carrier on 03/20/2012 at 09:23 AM
- World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan recently spoke with TheDailyWorld.com to promote WrestleMania 28. Here are some highlights:
Winning the World Heavyweight Title: "It was crazy. I've been doing this for 12 years and a lot of people thought I couldn't succeed at this. It was vindication, that I reached the top. When people are doubting you that much, sometimes you doubt yourself. It was more retrospective I can't believe I went through all of that and I'm at this moment."
Being a heel and a vegan: "I never thought (being a vegan) would turn me into a bad guy. The way we've (incorporated it) it has been kind of fun. It is the personality that makes people hate me winning my matches by disqualification, cheap ways to win, claiming I'm a role model because I don't eat meat. It all gets under people's skins."
"I've always loved being a bad guy; there's something more fun about it. It always makes me smile. Now, I'll hear my music and (the crowd) instantly starts booing. I have to keep myself from laughing, because it makes me happy."
WrestleMania 28: "I'm not nervous about the match, but I'm excited about the experience. We're not afraid to hit each other. Some guys like to fight. I like to fight. Sheamus was a bouncer for years. There's something about being in front of a large crowd and getting hit. It fires you up. We want to steal the show, even with Rock vs. Cena (on the card)."
WWE Not Shutting Down FCW Posted by Steve Carrier on 03/20/2012 at 12:26 PM
- All FCW events currently scheduled for this coming weekend will go on as planned. FCW President Steve Keirn is denying the rumors of FCW shutting down. All talents are at school today and as of this writing, no official announcement has been made.
PWInsider just updated their story and reports that sources within WWE state there are no plans to shutdown WWE's developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling. The show on the Brighthouse Network is scheduled to end however.
PWInsider reports that there had been recent discussions about moving the FCW TV show to another market, somewhere in the Orlando area, so that could explain why the Brighthouse Network show is ending.
They add that some WWE sources have scoffed at the idea of WWE actually shutting down FCW. FCW's daily operations began and ended yesterday with no notice to talents or staff and operations kicked off today with no announcement.
As of now, nothing has been said to talents or staff but that does not mean the reports of FCW shutting down are false. The news was originally broke by F4Wonline.com on Monday night.
PWInsider hasn't confirmed the reports but say that doesn't mean there isn't fire where there's smoke. WWE sources indicate that Vince McMahon has been upset recently over the WWE talent pool not being over and not being ready. Shortly after that, Ty Bailey was released. Bailey had been heading up developmental.
The news of WWE closing down Florida Championship Wrestling has a lot of the developmental talents worried about having to move and deal with the cost of living in Stamford, CT vs. the cost of living in Tampa, FL.
While FCW is closing, WWE will still have a developmental program. Triple H wants the company to have a better system with significant improvements. Everything is still up in the air as the news just came out of nowhere on Monday afternoon.

WWE Monday Night Raw Supershow Philadelphia, Pennsylvania March 19, 2012 Commentators: Jerry Lawler & Michael Cole Reported by: David Stephens of Wrestleview.com
Are you ready? There are only 13 days until WrestleMania, so stop questioning your heart and join me because its time for Monday Night RAW!!!
"Yes sir, we promised you a great main event..." The WWE video leads us into the show.
CM Punks music hits and the WWE Champion makes his way down to the ring. He starts by saying that Chris Jericho is not here tonight, which just goes to show the kind of man that Jericho is. Last week, when Jericho said that Punks father was an alcoholic, it pissed Punk off. His problem is with the fact that it is not Jerichos business. He doesnt necessarily have a problem with Jericho saying it, or how he said it, but the fact that he said it in front of the entire world. Punk says that there isnt anyone who hasnt been affected in some way by the disease of alcoholism. Punk says that Jericho said what he said to try and gain some sort of advantage. Punk says that Jerichos strategy has backfired, because if there is a monster inside of him then he is going to let it out at WrestleMania. Punk wisely tells the crowd, dont let your past nightmares cloud your future dreams. Punk says that his father has overcome his demons and has worked hard to become sober. Punk is proud of his father, and he is proud of being Straight Edge. Punk says that at WrestleMania, Jericho is his obstacle and he will go right through him. Punk starts to leave the ring.
Chris Jericho appears on the Titantron via satellite. Jericho says that he was out of line for what he said last week and he is sorry. Jericho says that he is saying this as Chris Jericho the person and without bravado. It was none of his business, and he is sorry that he brought it up. He hopes that Punk will forgive him. Jericho gives Punk his word that he wont talk about his father again.
But Punks sister? Punks sister has a problem with substance abuse. She will do anything to get her fix. Punks father is an alcoholic; his sister is a drug addict, which means that Punk is predisposed to drink. The good news is that addiction can be overcome. The bad news is that Jericho says that when he beats Punk at WrestleMania, that will be something that he will never overcome. Punk calls Jericho a piece of shit, and says that that is exactly what he is going to beat out of him.

- WWE has notified Bright House Network that they've
decided to end their association and are shutting down Florida Championship
Wrestling effective immediately. The promotion's programming continues through
the next three weeks that have already taped and then will be over.
Everyone involved with the company is being moved to the promotion's
home base in Stamford, Connecticut for the time being while a decision about the
company's developmental program is made. WWE employees are under the impression
that a developmental promotion will end up opening in Connecticut, as well as a
possible second promotion elsewhere.
FCW has been the promotion's sole
developmental territory since the company ended their affiliation with Ohio
Valley Wrestling. FCW began specifically as a developmental promotion for WWE in
2007 after they ended their relationship with the Georgia-based Deep South

Kevin Nash Comments On TNA. Says He Would Return If Asked.
Former TNA Wrestler Kevin Nash spoke with Rob McNichol of The UK Sun for his One Sided Ring Podcast. Nash mentions TNA in a series of responses.
Nash on TNA: "I have a fifteen year old son, and at this point my son needs a Dad more than the world needs a wrestler. The thing that makes TNA work for me is that first of all I have way more friends there than in WWE. I made some friends once I came there - Punk and I got along well, me and Ziggler got along well and I got a chance to hang out with John Cena but my crew of guys that are still in the business are more the TNA guys.
"Its fifty miles from my house. I can drive over there; I dont have to get on a plane. I can put my gear in the trunk, drop the top on my convertible and be over there and do it. It was always a really easy travel day for me. I enjoyed being down there. I also part of a lot of the young guys AJ, Eric Young, Bobby Roode - in their early stages of development. Now these guys are becoming stars. Im not saying I wouldnt go back. If they had something for me and they needed me, I would go back and do it. Right now Im starting to get bored!"
Nash on what it would take to get TNA up a level: "I think it would take a couple of major players. It would take a CM Punk. He would be a changer for them. Hes an edgy guy, and if he made that jump that would be a huge piece of the pie.
"Or it would need a Dwayne or a Cena. And those guys arent going anywhere. I would hate to say never say never because if you had told me during our run with WCW that at one point wed be out there in WWE, Id have been like 'What?' Never say never - crazier things have happened.
"TNA have gone from TNA to Impact Wrestling, which is a brand change. I think they are going in the right direction, as long as TNA continues to make it different. I watch both shows. I like the breakaway feel TNA has, where it feels grittier."
