Mick Foley comments on the changes in TNA

Mick Foley comments on the changes in TNA
Posted by Corbin Nordhoff on 05/19/2011 at 01:06 PM

Mick Foley, who instigated the change of TNA Impact to Impact Wrestling on last Thursday’s broadcast, says he is still confused about the matter.

“You know, I’m still wondering in a lot of ways,” Foley said in an interview with Brian Fritz for BetweenTheRopes.com “But I think we wanted the name for the show specifically that made people instantly aware that we were a wrestling show.”

He was asked whether he expects to see more wrestling on Impact Wrestling.

“You know, I hope so. And not just more wrestling, but hopefully better wrestling. I’m not taking a knock at any of the guys. I think, for example, when Ric Flair and I had the big match in October, it took people by surprise and they said, ‘Wow, that’s something we’d expect to see on a pay-per-view.’

“I think there has been a little sense over the years that wrestling was secondary to the other things going on in the show. So I’d like to see an increase in the number of minutes of wrestling, but I’d also like to see an increase in the seriousness of the matches – that more matches are seen as being pay-per-view quality.”

He also responded to skepticism that significant changes won’t be made to the show despite its rebranding.

“I would say that personally, I’m doing my very best to make the show different and to make the show matter, and that hopefully we will see a positive change,” said Foley. We’re going to know one way or another in the next month or so if people are happy with the changes. If they’re not, we’ll try to tweak them again.”

Scott Steiner made an appearance at the Impact Wrestling TV taping last night in Orlando to air on 5/26 on Spike TV so it appears his issues with TNA have been solved. Earlier reports by Dave Meltzer had stated that Steiner was having financial disagreements with the company.

WWE NXT Results (5/17/11) - Jacob Novak Is Eliminated
Written by Brooks Oglesby on May 17, 2011 - 10:50:11 PM

    WWE NXT Results - 5/17/2011

--It's elimination time, as we head into the eleventh week of NXT Redemption! We get a highlights package of every rookie, as well as some of the challenges. We are reminded that someone will be eliminated tonight. The opening titles roll, and commentators William Regal and Todd Grisham welcome us from Corpus Christi, Texas.

-Darren Young heads out angrily to the ring by himself. He's yelling that its his show on his way to the ring. Darren gets a mic in the ring and says that last week he was the first rookie to defeat Titus O'Neil. He says that Titus has the the most redemption points and he's dominated all of the competition. He makes fun of Titus' bark and says that it makes him sick. Darren says he knows Titus's weakness though, and holds up a key on his necklace. He says that Titus will never see Hornswoggle again, to a chorus of boos. Titus walks out to confront Darren, and we're off to our first match.

Match #1: Titus O'Neal vs. Darren Young

-Titus forces Darren into the corner, yelling "Where is he?!" Titus forces Darren into another corner, and the referee has to separate the two. Darren capitalizes with a kick to the knee and a shoulder block. Darren picks Titus up and drops him with a short-arm clothesline. Titus gets up and whips Darren, who gets grabbed and slammed by Titus. Two-count for Titus. Darren gets whipped into the corner and dragged out by Titus, who hits a short-arm clothesline. Titus gets another two-count. Titus hits a European uppercut and a boot to Darren's side while he's trying to get up.

-Meanwhile, Chavo is shown on the TitanTron backstage with a large crate that's tied up with chains. Hornswoggle can be heard screaming from inside. Titus drops Darren, grabs his key on his necklace from the turnbuckle and runs backstage.

    Winner: Darren Young, via countout

-Titus opens the crate backstage and lifts Hornswoggle out. Titus asks if both of them kidnapped him, but before he can answer, Chavo blindsides Titus and throws him into the wall. Chavo grabs Hornswoggle and carries him out to the ring.

-Darren's calling for Chavo to bring Hornswoggle to the ring, and Chavo does just that. Hornswoggle's struggling, but Chavo slowly gets him into the ring. Darren gets a hold of Hornswoggle, slams him to the ground and tries to rip his shirt off. Darren yells that he ruined Darren's dream and holds Hornswoggle down, telling Chavo to go hit his frog splash on Hornswoggle. Chavo climbs the turnbuckle slowly and hits the frog splash on him. Titus runs down the to the ring before any further damage can be done, as Chavo and Darren flee the ring.

    -Commercial

-The announcers say that Hornswoggle has been taken to the hospital, and despite of the elimination tonight, his rookie Titus O'Neal will be accompanying Hornswoggle to the hospital.

    -Commercial

-Yoshi Tatsu is shown walking backstage. After their confrontation last week, Yoshi will be facing his rookie, Byron Saxton.

    -Commercial

-Tatsu isn't doing his usual hopping on his way to the ring. He's all business, and walks straight to the ring. He still does his trademark bows while in the ring, though. Byron Saxton makes his way to the ring nonchalantly.

Match #2: Yoshi Tatsu vs. Byron Saxton

-The two lock up in the middle of the ring until Byron forces Yoshi into the corner. Byron hits a few cheap shots to Yoshi's head and torso before Yoshi counters and hits a Flair chop to Byron. Byron slaps Yoshi in the face, but Yoshi turns around and hits a spinning chop to the chest. Byron takes control with a clubbing blow to the back, but Yoshi whips Byron and hits his Japanese arm drag. He continues holding Byron's arm, wrenching it, before dropping Byron to the ground and trying to hit a shining wizard, which Byron ducks. Byron whips Yoshi hard into the corner, causing Yoshi to fall to the mat. Byron gets a two-count. Byron applies a kneeling chin lock as a clap breaks out in the crowd. Yoshi fights out with a chest chop. Yoshi whips Byron and stops him with a number of kicks to the solar plexus. Yoshi hits a shining wizard for a two-count. Yoshi whips Byron into the corner, hits a double knee attack, throws Byron to the mat, and climbs the turnbuckle. Yoshi hits a flying spinning wheel kick for the three-count.

    Winner: Yoshi Tatsu

    -Commercial

-Matt Striker is in the ring, and he welcomes his co-host Maryse to the ring. The Sign Guy's in the crowd with a sign that says "I got 99 problems but Maryse ain't one." Maryse says that tonight will be the first elimination, but first we have some unfinished business. She welcomes Vladimir Kozlov and Conor O'Brian to the ring. Striker reminds us that Vlad and JTG have been involved in a bet to see who could best mold their rookie into their own likeness. Vlad says that Conor is a beast of beasts, a man among men, like himself. With that said, Striker welcomes JTG and Jacob Novak to the ring. Maryse and Striker says that the WWE Universe will be the judges for this bet.

Challenge #1: Which Pro Has Molded Their Rookie In His Own Image The Best?

-JTG starts out by introducing his rookie, Glacier Thug (because he's cooler than a polar bear's toenail) AKA Jacob Novak. Novak says that Corpus Christi is full of haters like William Regal. Novak starts rapping and asks if Conor thinks he can win with a pro like Vlad. He ends with "I know y'all hate me, I can feel the tension, but get with the program, because I'm gonna get redemption."

-Vlad and Conor make their way to the middle of the ring. Vlad disrobes and Vlad's music hits. They both start doing a very stiff dance, and eventually start moonwalking. They walk robotically to the delight of the crowd. They hit a worm in sync and do some Sambo throws on one another. Conor goes to get two 2x4s and holds one up to Vladimir. Vlad punches right through one. Vlad then holds up a board for Conor, who grabs the board himself and breaks it over his head. The crowd goes wild for these two.

Winners: Vladimir Kozlov & Conor O'Brian

-JTG gets in Vladimir's face, which gets Vladimir and Conor in his face. JTG and Novak flee the ring. JTG then says "They want to fight? Let's fight."

    -Commercial

Match #3: Vladimir Kozlov vs. JTG

-JTG slaps Vlad in the face, which fires Vladimir up and gets JTG slammed. Vlad grounds JTG with a grounded side headlock. JTG gets to his feet, but Vlad hits a hip toss and keeps him down in the headlock. JTG gets to his feet again, whips Vlad, who hits a huge shoulder block, knocking JTG clear out of the ring. JTG talks some trash to Regal as he's on the outside, so Vlad takes advantage and throwing JTG into the ring. Vlad gets up on the apron, but Novak distracts him, so JTG hits a dropkick, knocking Vlad outside. JTG, now outside, tosses Vlad into the turnbuckle and tosses him into the ring for a two-count. JTG stays on top of Vlad with some mounted punches. JTG starts choking Vlad on the second rope before the referee breaks it up. JTG gets Vlad in the corner and hits a few punches, followed by a Mugshot, a second rope bulldog. That maneuver gets a two-count. Vlad gets to his feet and rams JTG into the corner, but JTG gets his knee up and slams Vlad's head into the corner. Vlad turns around quickly and takes out JTG with a big boot. Vlad captures JTG by his arms and hits some headbutts to JTG's chest, and attempts a running powerslam, but JTG wiggles out and hits a neckbreaker for a two-count. Vlad rams JTG back into the corner and tries to charge him again, but JTG gets a boot up again. JTG taunts on the top rope while Vlad is down, then jumps down on Vlad, who headbutts JTG in mid-air. He then picks up JTG and hits his Iron Curtain uranage for the win.

    Winner: Vladimir Kozlov

-Maryse is backstage, and Yoshi goes up to talk to her. Yoshi asks if Maryse saw his match, and Maryse doesn't seem to care. Maryse asks Yoshi if he saw the purse Lucky Cannon got him, and Yoshi says that she cares more about things than people, and says he thinks they should break up, and walks off. Maryse yells that they can't break up, because they were never together. Lucky comes up and calms Maryse down. He says that Maryse needs a shopping spree and a date. He then walks off.

    -Commercial

    First Elimination

-The rookies are lined up at ringside, and Maryse says that all of these rookies have passion. However, one of the rookies must go home tonight.

    -Jacob Novak has been eliminated.

-Novak throws his arms up and buries his head in the ring. Striker asks for Novak's thoughts. Novak says that this is the second time that the people have shoved him out. He says that maybe this isn't where Novak gets his redemption, but he'll be in the WWE someday. He says that he'll be back soon, to a chorus of boos. JTG meets Novak on the ramp and JTG yells at the crowd for disrespecting and hating his rookie.

-That's it for this week's edition of NXT Redemption. Thanks for reading.

WWE Raw & Tough Enough Rating Are In
Posted by Steve Carrier on 05/17/2011 at 06:59 PM

    - Monday's WWE Tough Enough drew a 1.61 rating, which is down from the 1.64 rating the show drew last week.

This is the second lowest rating the show has drawn since it debuted back on April 4.

    - Monday's WWE Raw scored a 3.08 rating, which is down from the 3.18 rating the show drew last week. The show averaged roughly 4.7 million viewers.

The rating continues to drop and in this case the company can't point to strong NBA playoff competition. It was the lowest rating the show has drawn since January 10.

    WWE Tough Enough Results 16-05-2011

    Tough Enough Results - 5/16/2011
Report by: Kyle Policastro of WrestlingNewsWorld.com

Welcome to another edition of WWE Tough Enough. As revealed preview videos of the show, 2 hopefuls will be injured tonight... Who they are remains to be seen. But we'll find out within the hour!

We kick off the show with AJ arriving (alone) in the house. AJ says he in no way feels redeemed for not being eliminated, and that he still has to prove himself to Stone Cold and the other trainers. AJ says he's happy now, but it's going to be a long day tomorrow.

Fast forward, Christina is outside the house doing yoga with Trish Stratus. Trish says that she's the last girl in the house, and she thinks maybe she needed some girl time. Trish and Christina are talking about how far she's come, and that she's outlasted all of the other girls. Just some friendly encouragement from Trish to Christina.

Now we're watching everyone come to the ring area for daily training. Bill makes fun of Martin's boots and then tells Christina he's proud of how far she's made it, and tells her to make him even more proud.

Stone Cold enters (still waiting to hear glass shattering whenever he enters, but I don't think they're going to do it again...), and tells them all they will be practicing some moves. Booker says it looks like AJ looks like he's just going through the motions, and Bill tells Jeremiah to knock of the MMA crap. Everyone else seems to be doing fine, though Jeremiah seemed unhappy that he didn't impress the judges at all.

We're back from commercial, and now they are practicing getting thrown over the top rope. Stone Cold says they all look like trash blowing in the wind, and they need to do better. Booker gives a pretty funny, yet good example. AJ threw someone over the rope, and I couldn't catch who it was, and they got their wrist caught in the rope, but I don't think anything came of it. Andy working with Luke on the other hand, not so much. Andy accidentally(?) hit Luke in the nose, then threw him WAY to hard over the top and Luke had a bad landing. It looked a lot worse then it was though, but it definitely gave Andy some bad rep. After the exercise, Bill and Booker state their disappointment in AJ, Andy, and Jeremiah.

Back at the house, Andy is on the phone with his wife, as he watches some home videos of his toddler. He says he knows he had an off day, but he'll make up for it.

Then the Divas enter *sigh*, and it's 4 of the least talented in the WWE, in my opinion: Kelly, The Bellas, and Eve. They couldn't send in Gail or Beth or something? Anyway, they are just having casual talk with the guys and Christina. Christina is really excited about this and looks to seek advice from the Divas perspective. Kelly Kelly states that she really likes Christina, while Luke notes that unlike Andy, who (mockingly) says made a "promise to his wife", he's going to travel the roads living life like a rockstar. Jeremiah is asking The Bellas to smack him in the face, and Luke joins in too. Then those two end up smacking each other around.

Up next, the contestants are playing WWE All Stars (great game if you haven't tried it yet).

Stone Cold introduces the contestants to one of the guys who worked on WWE All Stars. This week's life skills challenge is about developing character. Stone Cold said when he first came into WWE he was The Ringmaster, and after 6 months of doing that he said he's done with that s***, and he turned into Stone Cold Steve Austin. The contestants are using Create a Wrestler mode. After that, they are facing off against each other. AJ's CAW was named Jackson Crash, which Austin seemed to kind of like. AJ said he remember what Stone Cold said about needing to be creative, so he made a persona he thought was creative. There's a couple one on one matches going on... I found it interesting that in the game, on this segment of TE, the crowd chants "Kick his ass.", yet in the game that I own and play, I've never heard that. Anyway, they all finish up and Stone Cold says to prepare for some late night training... Up next.

We're back, everyone is back at the training area while it's dark out. They are doing some basic stuff at first, but Christina notes that she has been getting a lot of praise lately. AJ gets criticized by both Booker and Bill, the latter of whom says it's become clear to him that AJ is the weakest link. They are all doing quick pins one, after another, after another... And then Martin's ankle pops and he gets checked out by the trainer. Bill asks how he is, and he assures him that he will be fine. However, when the trainer asks him to try and talk, and Martin can barely even stand on it. Bill and Booker tell him to get some ice on it. It's clear they believe he hurt, and they also believe he has what it takes. Martin rides to the hospital, and as he is limping his way in, we go to commercial.

We're back, and everyone at the house is just now waking up. Today is the skills challenge, and everyone is wondering if Martin is OK. While everyone is working out, Martin arrives in the area in a scene that literally is still giving me chills. He's in crutches, and he's wearing his belt. He tells SCSA that his ankle is fractured, and that his doctor won't allow him to continue. It bothers me a lot to see him go. He was very clearly passionate, and he was clearly one of, if not the top dog. Stone Cold calls him into his office. They have a quick chat about coming back from injuries, and becoming successful in the business. He tells him that the reason all of the other belts were on the wall is because he put them there, because those eliminated contestants weren't Tough Enough. But he's not going to do that to Martin. He's going to let him hang his own belt on the wall, because he believes he is Tough Enough. Bill, Booker, and Trish say goodbye, as well as the remaining contestants. Martin says he will wait until he's 100%, and he will come back and make it in this business. A sad moment as we go to commercial.

We're back, and to be frank, I'm still disappointed that Martin got injured. In any case, NOW it's time for the skills challenge. This week, which is about creativity, each contestant will have 2 minutes to do what they do in the ring, and make it look good, with one move off the top rope.. Before they start, Bill tells Christina that he believes in her. First up is Christina (working with AJ), and everyone agrees that she is looking good. She body slams AJ, gives him a little smack in the face for show, and goes up top. She hits an axehandle smash, and her leg buckles. She is already crying in pain, and Bill and Booker are discussing that they thought she was going for a cross body, and they say AJ got too close and made her go for the axehandle, then say it's his fault. Andy says he wants to win, he wants to beat Christina, but not like that. Stone Cold tells everyone to go home, go back to the house. There won't be an elimination tonight, and they have the night off. Both him and Bill look irritated.

Next week, The Rock guest stars on TE! Should be good. Now it's time for Raw...

CM Punk Talks WM27 Match With Orton & More

CM Punk Talks WM27 Match With Orton & More
Posted by Dave Mitchell on 05/17/2011 at 11:27 AM

Nexus leader CM Punk was recently interviewed by UK wrestling magazine Fighting Spirit. Here are some highlights of what Punk said about:

How Far He's Come In Wrestling: "For me the thing I'm most proud of — aside from being three-time heavyweight champion and winning Money In The Bank — is the fact that I started wrestling in my backyard when I was 15, and now I'm here ... I was CM Punk when I was rolling around with my friends in the backyard when I was 15, and now I'm CM Punk at WrestleMania XXVII fighting Randy Orton in front of 70,000 people."

His WM27 Match Against Randy Orton: "I hate everything I do when I watch stuff back, so I don't tend to generally watch my matches again, but I did watch that one and I liked it. Obviously there were a few things I wish I had done a little different, but it will hold-up over time. For me, the highest praise was having the so-called 'old timers' tell me that they liked it.

"Bret Hart went out his way to call me up and tell me how much he liked it. Randy's Dad (Bob Orton Jnr) loved it, as did Bob Armstrong. So much of wrestling's history said it was good, and that it was the match of the night.

Getting Cheered As A Heel: "On [WWE's recent UK tour] I was getting cheered which made me want to pull my hair out. I think it's mainly from the older audience and it's something that I think eventually happens to everyone when a level of respect is built-up. It's just up to me to get them to hate me again by pushing their buttons."

When it comes to “I Quit” Matches, WWE Champion John Cena has a vocabulary consisting of just one word: “No.” The Miz realizes that fact and continues to try to figure a way to beat The Champ at WWE Over the Limit in just such a bout.

Earlier in the evening, Miz was allowed to choose both a match stipulation and an opponent for Cena in the night’s main event match and leveraged that to his advantage. The Cleveland Screamer chose a No Holds Barred Match and Jack Swagger as Cena’s opponent. The former World Heavyweight Champion got dirty right away, ambushing The Champ from behind. The All-American American would eventually pay for the ambush, though, when Cena snapped on an STF.

Despite Cena winning the bout, Miz was still swift to talk trash. He and hislackey, Alex Riley, attacked Cena, but The Champ pushed through the pain and chased the two from the ring, vowing that he will never utter the words “I quit.”

David Otunga & Michael McGillicutty def. WWE Tag Team Champion Big Show & Kane (WATCH | PHOTOS)
It would have been like trying tear down a brick wall with a plastic fork. David Otunga & Michael McGillicutty were sent by CM Punk to dismantle WWE Tag Team Champions Big Show & Kane in a non-title match. Although their chances were scant, The Second City Savior evened the odds.

As The Big Red Monster prepared to unleash fury, the leader of the New Nexus slyly dropped Kane with a well-timed kick to the back of the head from the ring apron. The blow allowed McGillicutty to pin the WWE Tag Team Champion for the victory.

If Punk can beat the WWE Tag Team Champions without even competing, how difficult will it be for him to do it again when in a match with New Nexus powerhouse as his partner on Sunday in Seattle? For tickets to the event, click here.

Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler signed match contract for WWE Over the Limit (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Michael Cole may want to invest in extra mouthwash. The “rat bastard” announcer signed a match contract with his rival Jerry Lawler for this Sunday’s WWE Over the Limit. After they had each signed, though, Cole revealed that he’d dropped in a stipulation making the contest a Kiss My Foot Match.

Unfortunately for Cole, this was before he’d ticked off his secret weapon, trainer Jack Swagger. The All-American American had been allied with Cole until the cheese-eating announcer hinted Swagger was his “sidekick.” That was enough to provoke the former World Heavyweight Champion to storm off and leave the weasely announcer wallowing with his foot in his mouth. He may want to get used to the taste.

Rey Mysterio def. Alberto Del Rio by Disqualification; WWE Over the Limit Match arranged
    (WATCH | PHOTOS)
The Truth is out there. Unfortunately for Rey Mysterio, it can also be pretty crafty at times. After calling out R-Truth for ambushing him last week, Mysterio waited in vain for the former rapper to show. Instead, Alberto Del Rio confronted The Master of the 619, and the two agreed to settle their vast differences in the ring.

During the bout, however, Truth finally surfaced and distracted Mysterio. When Rey finally got back on track, he nearly nailed The Mexican Aristocrat with a 619 until Del Rio’s personal ring announcer interfered, allowing Rey to win by disqualification.

After the match, Truth slid into the ring and attacked WWE’s Ultimate Underdog. The former rapping Superstar then grabbed a mic and accepted Mysterio’s earlier challenge to face off at WWE Over the Limit this Sunday in Seattle.

Kelly Kelly def. WWE Divas Champion Brie Bella in a Non-Title Match (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Kelly Kelly must have realized you can run for only so long. After weeks of avoiding the onslaught of Kharma, the beautiful blond finally confronted her fears. After she bested Brie Bella in a non-title bout, Kelly was leveled by a frustrated Brie and her sister, Nikki.

Just then, the familiar notes of Kharma’s entrance theme wafted through the AT&T Center like an ominous fog. When the braided behemoth entered the ring, The Bellas attacked. Despite their efforts, though, Kharma proved unrelenting and demolished Nikki as her sister scurried off. She then approached the object of her attention. Rather than pummel Kelly, however, Kharma simply flipped her blonde locks, flicked her forehead and laughed like a woman possessed before walking away.

CM Punk def. U.S. Champion Kofi Kingston in a Non-Title Match (WATCH | PHOTOS)
The Second City Savior vowed to show “leadership by example.” He needed to do something after the embarrassing shellacking he and his New Nexus disciple, Mason Ryan, suffered at the hands of their WWE Over the Limit opponents, WWE Tag Team Champions Big Show & Kane.

As a result, The Second City Savior challenged U.S. Champion Kofi Kingston to a non-title match. After prevailing over the impressive Dreadlock Dynamo, Punk announced that the New Nexus were on a road to redemption and vowed that the group will regain its former dominance.

The Miz chosen to arrange the night’s main event (PHOTOS)
You’ve got to hand it to The Miz’s toady, Alex Riley – the guy is nothing if not loyal. One week after having being trapped in the STF compliments of WWE Champion John Cena, Riley was back, interrupting The Champ and heaping praise on his boss.

The WWE Champion and Miz, his adversary in an “I Quit” Match at WWE Over the Limit, stood toe-to-toe. As tensions mounted, Raw’s anonymous General Manager chimed in to announce, via Michael Cole, that, since The Champ got to choose the stipulation for their WWE Over the Limit match, The Cleveland Screamer would get to decide Cena’s opponent in the night’s main event match as well as the match stipulation. Miz grinned and deferred the decisions for later in the evening.

Angle talks about TNA's mis-use of Joe

Angle talks about  TNA's mis-use of Joe
Posted by Corbin Nordhoff on 05/16/2011 at 03:32 PM

Kurt Angle conducted an exclusive hour-long interview with Busted Open, which will aired earlier today on Sirius 92 and XM 207. Doug Mortman, Dave LaGreca and Angle talked about Chyna's debut, the Jeff Hardy incident the TNA name change, his new contract, the state of pro wrestling, and so much more in a candid and revealing sit-down.

TNA's creative direction (or lack thereof) with Samoa Joe: "I've been very vocal about Samoa Joe. I don't think we're using him the right way. I didn't like him putting paint on his face, it reminded me of Umaga. They were trying to do something comic with him with the Japanese guy….having his own ninja. It didn't quite work out with the Pope. To be honest with you, Samoa Joe hasn't been on that many house shows. The guy's getting paid well, we're not really using him that well, and when I came in, he was the guy. He was the guy I wanted to wrestle, him and AJ were the two guys I was really looking forward to wrestling. And Sting as well. I was looking forward to those matches I would have with AJ and Samoa Joe, and I've seen AJ escalate, and I've kind of seen Samoa Joe kind of just fade off, and that should not have happened. I don't know what happened. I know he got in a couple fights and arguments with creative and I think Joe was right in the sense of why he was complaining, but I don't think he rubbed people the right way and that might have made him suffer a little bit."

Angle praat over Impact Wrestling, Impact Zone

Angle talks about Impact Wrestling, Impact Zone
Posted by Corbin Nordhoff on 05/16/2011 at 03:30 PM

Kurt Angle conducted an exclusive hour-long interview with Busted Open, which will aired earlier today on Sirius 92 and XM 207. Doug Mortman, Dave LaGreca and Angle talked about Chyna's debut, the Jeff Hardy incident the TNA name change, his new contract, the state of pro wrestling, and so much more in a candid and revealing sit-down.

The Impact Zone holding TNA back from being bigger than they are: "That's where TNA has had long talks with SPIKE TV and we have come up with a solution. In the next three months we are starting to go out like we did Fayetteville. I don't think we should be doing two TV's in one night like we did in Fayetteville. I think we should be doing one TV at a time. We are starting to go out at different cities. We already have two scheduled for later this year. We're probably going to do it once a month. We're going to start doing TV's in different cities. I know TNA has talked with SPIKE about the funding. Both companies come together to fund it. The network and TNA, we are all in agreement. We did one in Fayetteville and it was the first time in a long time I had that other company feeling. There were only 4,000-4,500 people there, but it was still that feeling of that big time, big arena, and then we went to Cincinnati and had a really good turnout for the pay-per-view, so you're right that atmosphere really helps the wrestlers and when we got other cities like that and they're hot and ready for it, it's a lot better. You feel like you're performing for people who really care about professional wrestling. I personally believe we should be going out to different cities right now. I know they're in the process of doing that. In the next few months you are going to start seeing TNA on TV. TNA will be in Dallas, Texas. TNA will be in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. TNA will be in New York City. TNA will be in Los Angeles, California, so it's happening. That's the next step. We have a start somewhere. It had to be in Impact Zone. Me personally? I hope we stay there in the next three-and-half year because it's easier on me. I get to stay there. To be honest with you the company has to take the next step. They're making money. They're doing well. They're signing big names. They're taking big steps forward. Thank God they got a bunch of TV deals all over the world. At least 60 of them that are paying good money for our TV. The company is making money. It's just a matter of going out there and doing the TV's in different cities and expanding. Internationally, we are doing phenomenal. Here in the United States, we are getting our butts kicked by the WWE. I think it has a lot to do with what you said not going to different cities to do TV's and pay-per-views."

On the house show in Brooklyn last year: "Oh it was incredible and it was done on a baseball field. The baseball stadium, the fans were at least, a hundred feet away. That was the first row. It was a pay-per-view moment. It wasn't a Wrestlemania moment, but it was a pay-per-view event, having 7,000/8,000 people. The place was packed. That's the kind of atmosphere that we need for our TV's. If we have that I think our ratings will start going up. We'll have a lot more. I think a lot more people will be interested. I think they are a lot more TNA fans out there, I should say Impact Wrestling fans out there then people would imagine. I think we have grown a fan base and we don't get enough credit for that because the ratings are always going up-and-down, up-and-down, and up-and-down. I believe we do have the fan base."

On the name change to Impact Wrestling. Is TNA Gone? "Gone, yeah. Impact Wrestling is the new name of the company. I personally believe in it because when it comes down to it, you can't take the word wrestling out of pro wrestling. Any storyline, or any feud, or any debacle that I have….when you do that, it's entertainment and you're doing the storylines but where does it ultimately end up? In the wrestling ring! At the PPV, the payoff. So how can you take wrestling out of pro wrestling….you can't. That's what they (the fans) buy tickets for. They buy tickets to watch guys wrestle. Not to be actors and entertain us. They pay to watch great wrestling."

Kurt Angle Praat over Hardy incident

Angle talks about Jeff Hardy incident
Posted by Corbin Nordhoff on 05/16/2011 at 03:29 PM

Kurt Angle conducted an exclusive hour-long interview with Busted Open, which will aired earlier today on Sirius 92 and XM 207. Doug Mortman, Dave LaGreca and Angle talked about Chyna's debut, the Jeff Hardy incident the TNA name change, his new contract, the state of pro wrestling, and so much more in a candid and revealing sit-down.

The Jeff Hardy incident at the end of the Victory Road PPV: "That was an unfortunate situation where I think Jeff realizes it now. Whatever he did... this is something that's been talked about many times. Jeff made a mistake. If he was going to take any form of, let's say, sleep medication... he probably should've waited an hour before he did that. Jeff made a bad decision and he's learned from it. Jeff has been clean for the last month and he wants to come back and he's ready to come back and I believe that he won't make that mistake it again. But it did happen. I felt really bad. I felt bad for TNA, I felt bad for Jeff, I felt bad for the company. Jeff Hardy is an amazing wrestler. I have nothing bad to say about him, actually I love the kid.

"I wrestled Jeff at his best and I wrestled Jeff at his worst, and it's night and day. I think it has a lot to do with him. He goes to the house shows and he not only gives 110%, he acts like it's a PPV every time, and this is the problem with Jeff. He works too hard, and I used to do that. I stopped doing that about a year ago. My house show matches are great but they're not my PPV matches. There's a big difference and Jeff always puts on PPV performances every night. I watched him that week, three house shows right before the PPV, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. 30 minute matches with AJ Styles where they did not stop. And then he had the Sunday match with Sting, and I'm not sure what happened with Jeff, what decision he made, but I knew he was banged up hard because of those matches they had at the house shows. Jeff is one of those guys who needs to learn how to slow down at the right time and when to go at the right time and I think he's going to learn that in the near future."

Jericho Reveals He Almost Hosted Tough Enough

Jericho Reveals He Almost Hosted Tough Enough
Posted by Steve Carrier on 05/15/2011 at 04:18 PM

    - Chris Jericho recently appeared on the UK's Ministry of Slam radio show and revealed that WWE almost used him as the host of the current season of Tough Enough. Jericho said:

"At one point I was in talks to host the show, but then Dancing With The Stars came up so it just wasn't going to work out. Steve's doing a great job – he's made it his show at this point. But it could have been Chris Jericho hosting the show and it would have had a bit of a different slant. I don't think I could have been as tough on those guys as Steve is. He's like a drill sergeant. It's fun to watch them squirm."

    - Kendrick def. Robbie E
    - Knockouts Title: Mickie James def. Madison Rayne
    - X Division Title: Kazarian def. Max Buck
    - Crimson def. "The Monster" Abyss
    - Tag Team Title: Beer Money def. Matt Hardy and Chris Harris
    - Tommy Dreamer def AJ Styles
    - Kurt Angle & Chyna def. The Jarretts
    - World Title: Sting def. Rob Van Dam to retain

    - Mexican America defeated Ink Inc after Hernandez beat Jesse Neal, and constant interference by Rosita and Sarita. Ink Inc looked to have Mexican America beat, but miscommunication between Jesse Neal and Shannon Moore opened the door for Rosita and Sarita to give Hernandez and Anarquia the advantage.

    - The Jarretts came out, with Karen in a walking boot after claiming injury after a fall this weekend. Jarrett claimed Karen couldn't compete due to doctor's decision, and that there would be no match against Kurt Angle and Chyna. However, out came Mick Foley - who said the x-rays were false, Karen was lying and that he was forcing The Jarretts to compete against Angle and Chyna! The Jarretts were so enraged that Karen ripped off her protective boot and threw it at Foley, proving she was lying!

    - Before the next bout, Kendrick gave an oddball interview about restoring the spotlight to the X Division. Kendrick defeated Robbie E (with Cookie) after a flip dropkick and a pinfall. After the match, the bizarre Kendrick tried to befriend Robbie E and Cookie and wouldn't let him leave the ring. All Robbie E and Cookie could do was call him a freak!

    - Before the Knockouts Title match, Madison Rayne told Tara to stay in the back so she wouldn't end up costing her the bout against champion Mickie James - but Tara came out anyway after the introductions, enraging Madison. During the bout, Madison tried to use a loaded glove, but Tara took it away from her! In the end, Mickie James defeated Madison Rayne to retain the Knockouts Championship after Tara knocked out Madison in the ring with the glove!

    - Kazarian defeated Max Buck to retain the X Division Championship after a grueling bout between the two X Division stars. The match saw several daredevil moves, including a 450 splash by Buck and Kazarian hitting a sunset flip on Buck on the outside - smashing Buck's head on the concrete! In the end, Kazarian hit a Shining Wizard out of nowhere on Buck to get the win and retain the title!

    - In a brutal match between two of TNA's big men, Crimson faced Abyss. Both competitors battered each other, but the undefeated Crimson held his own against the veteran Abyss. During the match, Abyss brought his spiked board weapon Janice into the ring, but Crimson hit a tackle and avoided it. In the end, Crimson hit a sky high powerbomb on the massive Abyss, getting the pin and the win! Crimson's win streak is still alive with the big win over "The Monster".

    - In a bout between the two former tag team partners in James Storm and Chris Harris, Beer Money beat Harris and Matt Hardy to retain the World Tag Team Title. Harris tried to avoid Storm early on, and Harris and Hardy concentrated on beating down Roode and keeping Storm out. When Storm finally got his chance, he pummeled Harris, unloading plenty of anger. In the end, Storm hit a superkick on Harris, but instead of Beer Money using their DWI finisher, they instead used America's Most Wanted's old finisher the Death Sentenace to finish off Harris for the pin and the win.

    - Tommy Dreamer was able to defeated AJ Styles, after hitting Styles with a piledriver through a table following interference by Bully Ray. AJ had the early advantage and fought with Dreamer throughout the arena. Dreamer introduced weapons into the match - including a table which AJ Styles jumped off for a flying fist. Dreamer tried to use a fork on AJ's face, but Styles avoided it. AJ tried to end the match with a Styles Clash on the table, but Bully Ray came in and smashed AJ with a chain. This allowed Dreamer to hit the Piledriver on the table for the win.

    - Up next it was time for the wrestling return of Chyna! In the mixed tag team match between The Jarretts and Kurt Angle and Chyna, it was men vs. men and women vs. women. Chyna tagged in early, but Karen wanted nothing to do with her and ran away, leaving Kurt Angle to assault Jeff Jarrett for much of the bout with suplexes and submissions. Finally, Chyna tagged in and suplexed and slammed Jarrett. Chyna then chased Karen back into the ring, where she ran into her former husband Kurt, who cornered her for Chyna. Chyna hit a jumping DDT on Karen and joined Kurt in a double-Ankle Lock submission on both Jarretts to get the submission wins! Chyna was victorious in her return to wrestling!

    - Up next was the big main event for the World Heavyweight Championship with Sting defending against Rob Van Dam! Out first was Mr. Anderson to provide commentary, who will face the winner at Slammiversary for the World Title. After introductions of both challenger and champion and the match start, Rob Van Dam took the early advantage until the match spilled into the audience. In the crowd, RVD injured his leg, allowing Sting to take momentum. Back in the ring, Sting was fired up and went for the Stinger Splash, but missed. RVD, still somewhat hobbled, went for the Five Star Frog Splash and the win, but missed! In turn, Sting hit TWO Scorpion Deathdrops to get the pin and the win on RVD to retain the championship! After the bout, RVD raised Sting's hand in victory, while Mr. Anderson came to the ring to stare down the champion as the PPV went off the air!
