Angle talks about Jeff Hardy incident Posted by Corbin Nordhoff on 05/16/2011 at 03:29 PM
Kurt Angle conducted an exclusive hour-long interview with Busted Open, which will aired earlier today on Sirius 92 and XM 207. Doug Mortman, Dave LaGreca and Angle talked about Chyna's debut, the Jeff Hardy incident the TNA name change, his new contract, the state of pro wrestling, and so much more in a candid and revealing sit-down.
The Jeff Hardy incident at the end of the Victory Road PPV: "That was an unfortunate situation where I think Jeff realizes it now. Whatever he did... this is something that's been talked about many times. Jeff made a mistake. If he was going to take any form of, let's say, sleep medication... he probably should've waited an hour before he did that. Jeff made a bad decision and he's learned from it. Jeff has been clean for the last month and he wants to come back and he's ready to come back and I believe that he won't make that mistake it again. But it did happen. I felt really bad. I felt bad for TNA, I felt bad for Jeff, I felt bad for the company. Jeff Hardy is an amazing wrestler. I have nothing bad to say about him, actually I love the kid.
"I wrestled Jeff at his best and I wrestled Jeff at his worst, and it's night and day. I think it has a lot to do with him. He goes to the house shows and he not only gives 110%, he acts like it's a PPV every time, and this is the problem with Jeff. He works too hard, and I used to do that. I stopped doing that about a year ago. My house show matches are great but they're not my PPV matches. There's a big difference and Jeff always puts on PPV performances every night. I watched him that week, three house shows right before the PPV, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. 30 minute matches with AJ Styles where they did not stop. And then he had the Sunday match with Sting, and I'm not sure what happened with Jeff, what decision he made, but I knew he was banged up hard because of those matches they had at the house shows. Jeff is one of those guys who needs to learn how to slow down at the right time and when to go at the right time and I think he's going to learn that in the near future."
Jericho Reveals He Almost Hosted Tough Enough Posted by Steve Carrier on 05/15/2011 at 04:18 PM
- Chris Jericho recently appeared on the UK's Ministry of Slam radio show and revealed that WWE almost used him as the host of the current season of Tough Enough. Jericho said:
"At one point I was in talks to host the show, but then Dancing With The Stars came up so it just wasn't going to work out. Steve's doing a great job he's made it his show at this point. But it could have been Chris Jericho hosting the show and it would have had a bit of a different slant. I don't think I could have been as tough on those guys as Steve is. He's like a drill sergeant. It's fun to watch them squirm."

- The Jarretts came out, with Karen in a walking boot after claiming injury after a fall this weekend. Jarrett claimed Karen couldn't compete due to doctor's decision, and that there would be no match against Kurt Angle and Chyna. However, out came Mick Foley - who said the x-rays were false, Karen was lying and that he was forcing The Jarretts to compete against Angle and Chyna! The Jarretts were so enraged that Karen ripped off her protective boot and threw it at Foley, proving she was lying!
- Before the next bout, Kendrick gave an oddball interview about restoring the spotlight to the X Division. Kendrick defeated Robbie E (with Cookie) after a flip dropkick and a pinfall. After the match, the bizarre Kendrick tried to befriend Robbie E and Cookie and wouldn't let him leave the ring. All Robbie E and Cookie could do was call him a freak!
- Before the Knockouts Title match, Madison Rayne told Tara to stay in the back so she wouldn't end up costing her the bout against champion Mickie James - but Tara came out anyway after the introductions, enraging Madison. During the bout, Madison tried to use a loaded glove, but Tara took it away from her! In the end, Mickie James defeated Madison Rayne to retain the Knockouts Championship after Tara knocked out Madison in the ring with the glove!
- Kazarian defeated Max Buck to retain the X Division Championship after a grueling bout between the two X Division stars. The match saw several daredevil moves, including a 450 splash by Buck and Kazarian hitting a sunset flip on Buck on the outside - smashing Buck's head on the concrete! In the end, Kazarian hit a Shining Wizard out of nowhere on Buck to get the win and retain the title!
- In a brutal match between two of TNA's big men, Crimson faced Abyss. Both competitors battered each other, but the undefeated Crimson held his own against the veteran Abyss. During the match, Abyss brought his spiked board weapon Janice into the ring, but Crimson hit a tackle and avoided it. In the end, Crimson hit a sky high powerbomb on the massive Abyss, getting the pin and the win! Crimson's win streak is still alive with the big win over "The Monster".
- In a bout between the two former tag team partners in James Storm and Chris Harris, Beer Money beat Harris and Matt Hardy to retain the World Tag Team Title. Harris tried to avoid Storm early on, and Harris and Hardy concentrated on beating down Roode and keeping Storm out. When Storm finally got his chance, he pummeled Harris, unloading plenty of anger. In the end, Storm hit a superkick on Harris, but instead of Beer Money using their DWI finisher, they instead used America's Most Wanted's old finisher the Death Sentenace to finish off Harris for the pin and the win.
- Tommy Dreamer was able to defeated AJ Styles, after hitting Styles with a piledriver through a table following interference by Bully Ray. AJ had the early advantage and fought with Dreamer throughout the arena. Dreamer introduced weapons into the match - including a table which AJ Styles jumped off for a flying fist. Dreamer tried to use a fork on AJ's face, but Styles avoided it. AJ tried to end the match with a Styles Clash on the table, but Bully Ray came in and smashed AJ with a chain. This allowed Dreamer to hit the Piledriver on the table for the win.
- Up next it was time for the wrestling return of Chyna! In the mixed tag team match between The Jarretts and Kurt Angle and Chyna, it was men vs. men and women vs. women. Chyna tagged in early, but Karen wanted nothing to do with her and ran away, leaving Kurt Angle to assault Jeff Jarrett for much of the bout with suplexes and submissions. Finally, Chyna tagged in and suplexed and slammed Jarrett. Chyna then chased Karen back into the ring, where she ran into her former husband Kurt, who cornered her for Chyna. Chyna hit a jumping DDT on Karen and joined Kurt in a double-Ankle Lock submission on both Jarretts to get the submission wins! Chyna was victorious in her return to wrestling!
- Up next was the big main event for the World Heavyweight Championship with Sting defending against Rob Van Dam! Out first was Mr. Anderson to provide commentary, who will face the winner at Slammiversary for the World Title. After introductions of both challenger and champion and the match start, Rob Van Dam took the early advantage until the match spilled into the audience. In the crowd, RVD injured his leg, allowing Sting to take momentum. Back in the ring, Sting was fired up and went for the Stinger Splash, but missed. RVD, still somewhat hobbled, went for the Five Star Frog Splash and the win, but missed! In turn, Sting hit TWO Scorpion Deathdrops to get the pin and the win on RVD to retain the championship! After the bout, RVD raised Sting's hand in victory, while Mr. Anderson came to the ring to stare down the champion as the PPV went off the air!

Melina Posts Injury Update On John Morrison Posted by Steve Carrier on 05/14/2011 at 03:07 PM
Melina posted a blog on her official website, RealMelina.com, updating fans on John Morrison after he underwent surgery to correct a pinched nerve in his neck.
"The first week after surgery is the most painful," she wrote. "He hates not helping out and carrying his own weight. He stubbornly tries to do little things and I understand that I can't baby him but I worry. I want to do everything for him so he can just rest.
"I have taken him on mini walks so he can get out of the house he can't stay out for very long because he starts to ache. I wish I could do more. During the day he has to sit, but he cant sit for long because his neck starts to hurt then he can't stand for too long either because the same thing happens. His body gets tired because its hard for him to rest. At night he wakes up every few hours and gets out of bed because his neck is sore. For some reason he thinks I sleep through him bumping into stuff in the dark, on his way to the kitchen. He says coconut gelato is the only thing that makes his neck feel better at 5am. Bless his heart."
She continued, "I hate to see him in pain. He wont tell me a lot of the times but you can just see it. It breaks my heart because hes my Honey, but he always tries to smile. I admire him for being so positive, being strong and making me laugh. I wouldnt blame him if he just vegged and sulked a bit but instead he keeps his chin up and Smiles even if it hurts."

News: Karen Jarrett Claims Injury After Fall, Status For Sunday's PPV Uncertain
On Friday afternoon, Karen Jarrett claimed via her Twitter account that she had suffered a "bad fall" and was having trouble walking. Then, on Saturday, Karen posted that "Due to my fall, not sure I will be up to having a match on Sunday at the PPV".
On Sunday night at the Sacrifice Pay-Per-View event, The Jarretts are scheduled to compete in a mixed-tag team match against Kurt Angle and Chyna, who makes her in-ring wrestling return. Kurt hopes to get final revenge against his longtime enemy in Jeff Jarrett, and he also brought in Chyna to battle his former wife Karen.
TNA officials have stated that they are still trying to gather information about Karen's fall, and as of Saturday afternoon she is still being promoted for the match. Her travel itinerary to Orlando for the PPV has not yet been changed.

We have been unable to get in contact with Karen to determine the extent of her injury, or how it occurred. Jeff Jarrett has been traveling with this weekend's TNA Live Events, and instead of commenting on her injury, he blasted Kurt Angle via his Twitter for putting Karen - the mother of Angle's children - in harm's way:
JeffJarrettTNA: People continue to make conscious, yet very reckless, decisions about people's future, but they have no regard for the consequences of them.

Sin Cara def. Daniel Bryan Kane def. Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett by Disqualification Cody Rhodes def. Ted DiBiase World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton & Christian def. Sheamus & Mark Henry SmackDown results: Onward Christian soldier By: Michael Burdick May 13, 2011 Tags: SmackDown: May 13, 2011
NASHVILLE, Tennessee One week after losing the World Heavyweight Championship in a hard-fought battle against Randy Orton, Christian aligned himself with the new champion to overcome Mark Henry and Sheamus. However, while the SmackDown elite momentarily shared the cup of glory, anticipation over their epic rematch at WWE Over the Limit was already building to a fever pitch. (Preview)
World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton & Christian def. Sheamus & Mark Henry (WATCH | PHOTOS) On the same night that the World Heavyweight Championship rematch between Randy Orton and Christian at WWE Over the Limit was announced, the two Superstars found themselves working together in an explosive tag team main event. And as The Viper delivered a devastating RKO to Mark Henry, Captain Charisma hit the Killswitch on Sheamus for the victory.
Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett challenged Ezekiel Jackson to a match at WWE Over the Limit (WATCH) After The Corres massive assault on Ezekiel Jackson for the second week in a row, Wade Barrett poked his stick at the self-professed "The Personification of Domination" with an Intercontinental Title challenge. Cody Rhodes def. Ted DiBiase (WATCH | PHOTOS) Carrying the burden of his deep emotional scars, Cody Rhodes urged the WWE Universe and even his former Legacy ally Ted DiBiase to hide their faces with paper bags. Despite an ultra-competitive effort by the priceless Superstar, his bitter opponent ultimately reigned supreme with the Cross Rhodes.
Jinder Mahal slapped The Great Khali (WATCH | PHOTOS) Newcomer Jinder Mahal interrupted "The Khali Kiss Cam," stunning the WWE Universe by slapping The Punjabi Nightmare twice before walking away. Kane def. Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett by Disqualification (WATCH | PHOTOS) Just when it looked as if Kane had overcome distractions by The Corre and was set to chokeslam Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater attacked. After giving The Big Red Monster the win by disqualification, his adversaries used their overwhelming numbers to take him down.
Moments later one week after getting forcefully "excommunicated" from The Corre Ezekiel Jackson exploded to the ring, delivering a major onslaught on his former allies before once again succumbing to their 3-on-1 assault. The punishment he endured culminated with Gabriel's 450 Splash.
Michael Cole fed an injured Layla to Kharma (WATCH | PHOTOS) Layla informed the WWE Universe that during her match with Michelle McCool at Extreme Rules, she sustained a serious knee injury.
Following Michael Cole's interruption which he used to talk about his rematch with Jerry Lawler at WWE Over the Limit the mesmerizing Kharma emerged. Cole proceeded to trip Layla, allowing the monstrous anti-Diva to drive her to the canvas with absolute force. When Kharma focused her attention to the cocky announcer-turned-competitor, however, Cole quickly scrambled back to the safety of his glass fortress. Sin Cara def. Daniel Bryan (WATCH | PHOTOS) Before Sin Cara's match with Daniel Bryan could begin, Chavo Guerrero took it upon himself to introduce the newly-drafted masked Superstar as "following in his footsteps." Joining the SmackDown announce team, he repeatedly referred to himself Sin Cara's "mentor."
But, after the high-flyer realized that his win over Bryan came at least in part because of a Guerrero distraction, a frustrated Sin Cara confronted the self-proclaimed "Mexican Warrior." After Guerrero stuck his finger in his chest, the explosive grappler shoved him to the canvas.
Christian geared up to face World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton (WATCH | PHOTOS) One week after his career-long dream of being the World Heavyweight Champion was destroyed by a sudden title match with Randy Orton, Christian emerged. He stated to the WWE Universe that he respected GM Theodore Long's decision to make their World Title Match, congratulated WWE's Apex Predator on winning the title and made it clear that that their rematch at WWE Over the Limit will have a completely different outcome.
When Sheamus and Mark Henry both emerged and attacked Captain Charisma, Orton entered to even the odds, later stating that he wanted to face a 100 percent Christian at the fateful pay-per-view in nine days.
- The Sin Cara vs. Chavo Guerrero matches at WWE live events have been getting rave reviews internally. It was noted that Cara works well with Guerrero and that Chavo "is still an asset" when not being used in comedic roles.
- Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder reunited on last night's episode of WWE Superstars. Hawkins came out and helped Ryder get a win over Vladimir Kozlov. After the win, the former Major Brothers, celebrated together. They wrote the following on Twitter:
Ryder: "The Broskis Are Back @TheCurtHawkins & @ZackRyder WWWYKI"
Hawkins: "Thanks for the support, it's just the beginning & we'll need all your help. I like #MajorBroskis but Broskis of Destruction made me laugh."
Kurt Angle on TNA Being Perceived as WWE-Lite Posted by Steve Carrier on 05/13/2011 at 08:05 PM
Recap of Kurt Angle's appearance on the Busted Open satellite radio show on Sirius 92 and XM 207.
On the name change to Impact Wrestling. Is TNA gone?: Gone, yeah. Impact Wrestling is the new name of the company. I personally believe in it because when it comes down to it, you cant take the word wrestling out of pro wrestling. Any storyline, or any feud...when you do that, its entertainment and youre doing the storylines, but where does it ultimately end up? In the wrestling ring. At the PPV, the payoff. So how can you take wrestling out of pro wrestling .you cant. Thats what they (the fans) buy tickets for. They buy tickets to watch guys wrestle. Not to be actors and entertain us. They pay to watch great wrestling."
When followed up with the point that Vince McMahon might disagree with Angles opinion: "Hey, you know what, its a boost for us. If he wants to go that way, well go the other way."
On Hulk Hogan and the perception that TNA has become WWE-lite: Yes, I believe when we brought in Hulk Hogan, and I will say this from the bottom of my heart, I love Hulk Hogan. He is a great addition to our company. But he too realizes that it cant be 'total nonstop talk'. We have a lot of characters on the show that dont wrestle. Some that wrestle every once in awhile, but really ultimately youre talking about Dixie Carter being on the show sometimes. You got Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff, Ric Flair, Mick Foley. I mean Im just naming a few that dont wrestle and theyre on the show all the time. You start seeing a little too much talking and not enough wrestling. We are now in the process of going to more wrestling.
"Beer Money matches with Motor City Machine Guns. You couldnt beat that. My matches with A.J. Styles... you cant beat that. Those are the kinds of things Ive talked to Dixie Carter personally about. I said I would rather give the fans great matches on TV, incredible five stars matches, right now, even if our pay-per-views suffer. I rather do that now and get our ratings up, and then work on our pay-per-views, then try to get pay-per-views now and have our ratings stay down. Its better to have wrestling on the shows because its different. Its not like the other company.
On Chynas debut: She looked good. She looked healthy too. You know what, even though we only had 1,400 people there, the response that just came from those fans sent a big message to Hulk Hogan and Dixie Carter, and myself as well, that Chyna will always be a huge name. It was cool because when they introduced her people were like holy, no way. Chyna. Shes coming. Oh my God, and then she came out and she looked good. It was like, she is back. It was one of the feel-good moments for Impact Wrestling.
"I mean, Chyna is going to cause a ruckus in Impact Wrestling. I hope they have her wrestle the guys. Impact Wrestling is very pro-women as far as women wresting women. I remember when Awesome Kong (Kharma) came in and I told Jeff Jarrett I want to wrestle her right now. Let me put me over. Hes like no, shes going with women. I believe Chyna should go with the guys eventually."
