Daniels talks about why he never got into WWE Posted by Roscoe De Soto on 10/14/2010 at 06:48 PM
The following is an excerpt from a recent interview on wrestlingvoice.net with "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels:
DD: You were a member of the Funkin Dojo in 1998 and during this time wrestled several televised and dark matches for the then WWF, how did this come about and what exactly was your relationship with the WWF?
CD: Well, my friend from Windy City [Pro Wrestling], his name was Kevin Quinn, had met Victor Quinones when he was in Puerto Rico, and so through him I knew Victor and I decided to go to WWF television taping in Phoenix and Victor set up a Shotgun Saturday Night match between me and Taka Michinoku and that match sort of got me on the map with the WWF guys, they offered me a spot in one of the Funkin Dojos, which was basically a try out camp when that was going on, when they had those dojos at Titan Towers and Dory Funk [Jr] was running them it was sort of a tryout camp, so I went and I did that camp with guys like Kurt Angle and Test and Steve Williams, Tiger Ali Singh, Steve Corino, I went through that Dojo and on occasion did dark matches, I on occasion did televised matches for WWF and sort of kept in touch throughout my career and tried to get in, and just something never clicked, I guess they never saw anything in me that they wanted to put any effort into so I never really had any long term relationship with them other than the occasional dark match.
LB: Something I was always wondering, what was the inspiration behind The Fallen Angel gimmick?
CD: The Fallen Angel was a name that I came up with just I was a good guy and became a bad guy and that was sort of the influence of that but then once I saw Dustin Runnels do the Goldust character I was really impressed on how that character and his take on sexuality, sort of, touched everyone across the board, no matter where youre from or what youre background was, everyone has a strong opinion about their own sexuality and so they reacted accordingly to what Dustin was doing so I looked at that and thought what other topics does everybody have a strong reaction to and the answer I came up with was religion so I came up with this idea of someone with a God complex, someone who thought he was God and I sort of tinkered with it over the years in places like Ring Of Honor, places like TNA and I had different levels of success with it, I was just very lucky to have a gimmick like that and very lucky to have that opportunity.

Melina def. Alicia Fox (PHOTOS | WATCH) Since losing to Michelle McCool in the big Unification Match at Night of Champions, Melina seemed to lose a step or two in the ring. But the beautiful Diva finally managed to turn things around by defeating the vicious Alicia Fox in the main event of WWE Superstars. A brutal contest to say the least, both Divas attacked each other with ruthless aggression, but Melinas unmatched fortitude helped her weather the storm of Foxs destructive offense and execute a modified back slide for the 1-2-3.
Darren Young def. Primo (PHOTOS | WATCH) As a disgraced former member of The Nexus, Darren Young has a long way to go if he wants to establish himself as a top competitor in WWE. But the rising Superstar took his first step toward accomplishing this goal by picking up a victory over Primo on WWE Superstars. With his NXT Rookie Diva A.J. looking on from ringside, Primo attempted to control his inexperienced opponent with a ground-based submission game, but the wild and hungry Young wouldnt be denied. Using his formidable strength to power through the Puerto Rican Superstar, Young pinned the WWE NXT Pro and made an early mark as a singles competitor.
Curt Hawkins def. Trent Barreta (PHOTOS | WATCH) After dropping a vicious flying elbow drop into the heart of his tag team partner Vance Archer on last Thursdays WWE Superstars, Curt Hawkins made it clear that hes ready to establish himself as a dominant singles competitor in WWE. The young talent started this crusade tonight by defeating Trent Barreta in an exhilarating contest. Although the two men have faced off in tag action, this was their first singles contest on WWE Superstars and both Superstars brought the fight. While Barreta concentrated on an explosive, high-risk offense, Hawkins used brute force and aggression to punish his opponent and score a commanding win.
Kelly Kelly def. self-professed Co-Unified Divas Champion Layla (PHOTOS | WATCH) For months, the self-professed Co-Unified Divas Champions Layla & Michelle McCool have ruled over the Divas division with a perfectly manicured iron hand. But the Flawless friends have been getting some serious competition from Natalya in recent weeks. The Hart Dungeon-trained Diva continued to be a thorn in the side of the mean girls tonight as she came to the ring to watch the back of her buddy, Kelly Kelly. When the official was distracted, Natalya tripped up Layla, allowing the beautiful Kelly to roll up the British Diva for the victory.
- Randy Orton wrote the following on Twitter last night about TNA iMPACT:
Checked out tna tonight for the 2nd time ever. Samoa Joe can move. Miss working with Angle and Jeff. Coulda done w/o the JWoW segment tho. I enjoyed the backstage stuff for the most part anyway. Something about the realness of the conversations between some of the talent was really well done.
Fans began to ask Orton about TNA and to one, he wrote: who said that I do not like tna? I surely didnt. Never approved of the 8 sided ring tho. Competition is a good thing.
Orton also put over TNA TV Champion AJ Styles: never met him. Can do some amazing things in the ring. IMO has alot to do with tnas early success.
According to a source, Sting is "expected to be gone" from TNA Wrestling following this week's set of television tapings, which were completed yesterday in Orlando, Florida.
The multi-time champion is limited by an injury to his shoulder and has not signed a new contract, so he's only committed to the organization until the end of the year. There was talk this week that he would be taking time off from this point forward.
- The new name for Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, Jeff Hardy, Abyss and Jeff Jarretts group is Immortals. On last nights iMPACT, Hogans Immortals joined up with Ric Flairs Fortune to go against Dixie Carter. Why Mark Henry Wasn't on RAW Last Night Posted by Steve Carrier on 10/12/2010 at 08:02 PM
- Michael Cole noted on commentary during last night's RAW that Mark Henry could not be on hand for the event because he was tending to personal matters. According to kbtx.com, the RAW Superstar's older brother, Patrick "Shorty" Henry, is fighting for his life after suffering a stroke on Oct. 3. He has been in a medically induced coma in the intensive care unit at the College Station Medical Center in College Station, Texas since. Henry also had two brain surgeries to stop bleeding.
Friends and family are taking turns talking to "Shorty," waiting for him to wake up.
"Keep your prayers coming. God works miracles," says Jennifer McGrath, Patrick's wife. "We have faith and we need him back. His babies need him."

Ring of Honor is proud to announce that Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin, the Worlds Greatest Tag Team, have been signed to appear at the ROH on HDNet national television tapings in Louisville, Kentucky December 9th and 10th. The events, ROHTWO NIGHTS ONLY, will mark the first time ROHs TV program has been taped outside Philadelphia, and was selected for two nights in a row in Louisville because of the tremendous demand for seats at the July debut event.
Haas and Benjamin are both looking forward not only to returning to Ring of Honor, but to the city in which both of them lived and wrestled early in their careers. Shelton, in particular, underwent his first wrestling training in Louisville in 2000 with Ohio Valley Wrestling under ROH executive producer Jim Cornette and OVW Owner Danny Davis.
I cant wait to come back to the Davis Arena, Shelton said, because the Louisville fans and OVW are like home. In New York, the ROH fans took to Charlie and I like wed been there all our lives. Mix them both and these will be two really big nights for us.
Charlie is equally as excited. The ROH fans reignited my passion for wrestling, the passion I had when I was wrestling for Danny Davis in Kentucky and Les Thatcher in Ohio in developmental. We wouldnt miss the chance to come see those people again.
There are five other ROH stars appearing on those tapings that might have an interest in the appearance of the two men that many call The Worlds Greatest Tag Teamthe current ROH Tag Team Champions the Kings of Wrestling with their manager Shane Hagadorn, and Mark & Jay, the Briscoe Brothers. All three of these teams have a claim to being the best tag team in wrestling, and many supporters to back them up. Itll be interesting to see all of them under the same roof, along with 25 other superstars and 12 big matches each night, at the home of OVW The Davis Arena at 4400 Shepherdsville Road in Louisville.
A select number of VIP seats remain, as well as general admission, but we expect demand for tickets to exceed capacity on Thursday, December 9th and Friday December 10th, so please make your advance ticket orders if you are coming to avoid being left out. The Champions Table package is still available for the December 9th event. You get two leather recliners with a table, on a riser less than 15 feet from the ring, comes complete with waittress service and all 2 can eat or drink from the concession stand all night, for only $150. To purchase the Champions Table, you must call the office directly at (215) 781-2500. All other tickets are available to purchase at ROHWrestling.com.
R-Truth def. Ted DiBiase John Morrison def. Tyson Kidd Santino Marella def. Zack Ryder WWE Champion Randy Orton def. Justin Gabriel Sheamus def. U.S. Champion Daniel Bryan in a Non-Title Match CM Punk def. Evan Bourne The Miz def. John Cena in a No Disqualification Match
SEATTLE With WWE Bragging Rights less than two weeks away, the time had come for the Raw roster to determine which Superstars would carry the brands flag into battle and just who would lead that charge The Miz or John Cena.
The Miz def. John Cena in a No Disqualification Match (PHOTOS | WATCH) John Cenas patience must be wearing thin. The WWEs powerhouse faced The Miz to determine which would be the sixth and captaining member of Team Raw. During the contest, season two NXT Rookies Husky Harris and Michael McGillicutty interfered, costing Cena another crucial match just as they had done at Hell in a Cell.
After the bout, Raws anonymous General Manager asserted control and informed the WWE Universe that next week, Harris & McGillicutty must face off against Cena and his tag team partner WWE Champion Randy Orton!
Rubbing salt into his loss, Wade Barrett berated his reluctant disciple and informed him that if Harris & McGillicutty win, they will be allowed to join The Nexus. The Englishman even provoked Cena to attack him, safe in the knowledge that were the "Legendary" star to follow through, he would be unceremoniously terminated from WWE.
Natalya confronted Co-Unified Divas Champions Lay-Cool (PHOTOS | WATCH) WWEs Mean Girls are at it again. The self-proclaimed Co-Unified Divas Champions, Michelle McCool & Layla, trained their infantile insults on Natalya, the No. 1 contender to the Unified Divas Title. After enduring a few pointed verbal jabs, Natalya, the only female to endure the infamous Hart Family Dungeon training grounds, demonstrated that shes unfazed by the taunts. In fact, when Lay-Cool was finished with their gibes, the other Raw Divas came out to confront them and offer Natalya a show of support. Burn!
CM Punk def. Evan Bourne (PHOTOS | WATCH) Prepare to testify! After trading Edge to SmackDown last week, the red brand learned of the latest acquisition: Leader of the Straight Edge Society, CM Punk. The self-righteous Superstar faced Evan Bourne in a Team Raw qualifying match during which he defeated his opponent. After the match, Punk dismantled the high-flyer with a sobering beatdown. So relentless was his aggression, in fact, that Bourne needed to be attended to by medics.
Sheamus def. U.S. Champion Daniel Bryan in a Non-Title Match (PHOTOS | WATCH) Daniel Bryan has proven hes one quick study. After getting destroyed by Sheamus last week, the United States Champion came out swinging in their rematch. From the moment the bell sounded, Bryan went on offense. Unrelenting in his approach, the U.S. Champion ultimately proved unable to surmount the power and determination of The Celtic Warrior, who persevered to capture the fourth slot on Team Raw.
WWE Champion Randy Orton def. Justin Gabriel (PHOTOS | WATCH) Despite his 450° Splash, two cohorts in his corner and one huge opportunity, the numbers just didnt add up for Justin Gabriel when the South African Superstar faced WWE Champion Randy Orton. Nexus leader Wade Barrett had hoped Gabriel would damage The Viper in the run-up to their title match at WWE Bragging Rights. However, even with his Nexus cohorts, David Otunga and Heath Slater, attempting to involve themselves in the bout - and eventually getting ejected from ringside - the nimble Nexus member failed to triumph over the dominance of the WWE Champion.
Santino Marella def. Zack Ryder (PHOTOS | WATCH) When Zack Ryder faced Santino Marella for a place on Team Raw, The Long Island Loudmouth faded faster than a coat of cheap bronzer. With his pal, Vladimir Kozlov, looking on, Santino leveled Ryder and pinned his shoulders to the canvas for the three-count. After the match, The Italian Stallion received a little extra amore from Tamina, who wrapped him in a silky, yet strong, embrace.
John Morrison def. Tyson Kidd (PHOTOS | WATCH) If you spot David Hart Smith on the side of a milk carton, youll know why. The pedigreed Superstar failed to show for Raw and his Triple Threat Match against John Morrison and Tyson Kidd. As a result, The Guru of Greatness had only to deal with the scrappy Kidd, who The Shaman of Sexy managed to overcome to qualify for Team Raw. As for Hart Smith, come out, come out wherever you are!
R-Truth def. Ted DiBiase (PHOTOS | WATCH) Ted DiBiase missed a golden opportunity. The Fortunate Son battled R-Truth to be the first Superstar to qualify for Team Raw. Although DiBiase appeared to shine during the match, his mettle tarnished when Goldust unexpectedly arrived. The Bizarre One, with both the Million Dollar Title and NXT Rookie Diva Aksana in tow, distracted DiBiase, allowing Truth to capitalize and seize the first spot on Team Raw.
Raw GM arranged matches to determine Team Raw at WWE Bragging Rights; The Miz vs. John Cena to determine captain of Team Raw (PHOTOS | WATCH) John Cena pleaded for understanding. The Legendary star asked for the WWE Universes forgiveness in regards to his forced allegiance to The Nexus. During Cenas heartfelt address, The Miz barged in to make an announcement of his own. Mr. Money in the Bank informed Cena that he had named himself captain of Team Raw at WWE Bragging Rights and requested that the powerhouse sign onto the squad.
Prior to Cena's response, however, Nexus leader Wade Barrett nixed the idea, informing him that he would be needed in his corner during the WWE Title bout against Randy Orton. Thats when Mizs assistant, Alex Riley, opened his big mouth. The season two NXT Rookie blabbed that, yes, Cena should be in Barretts corner, especially in case Miz decides to cash in his Money in the Bank contract. For his part, The Cleveland Screamer appeared none too pleased about losing the element of surprise. Oops!
Before the situation could escalate, Raws anonymous General Manager interceded. He informed the Superstars that he had arranged a series of matches for later in the evening to determine to makeup of Team Raw at WWE Bragging Rights. He also orchestrated a match between The Miz and Cena to establish the captain of Team Raw.
After the GMs announcement, Miz and Riley ambushed the leader of The Nexus, who summoned Cena to defend him. The reluctant Nexus member cleared away the two, but then The Awesome One trained his attack on Cena. The Legendary star overcame the assault and meted out a severe punishment for Riley. As Cena celebrated in the ring, though, his English overlord berated him for not instantly rushing to his defense.
Update on a possible Batista WWE return Posted by Roscoe De Soto on 10/10/2010 at 12:50 PM

Dave Meltzer recently spoke to Batista and isn't sure where the recent quote came from where Batista talked about coming back to the WWE. According to Meltzer, Batista is still open to returning to WWE down the line but isn't going to back anytime soon. He is still training for MMA and told Meltzer that he feels a lot better physically than he did while in WWE. Batista put over Vince McMahon but talked about how the road schedule burned him out. While MMA is still a possibility, it seems more likely that he'll try to get into acting.
