WWE giving Joe Hennig the name of Michael McGillicutty on the new season of NXT has many in the company baffled, especially since they acknowledged him as the son of Curt Hennig.
According to friends of Joes, he was under the impression that as recent as a few weeks ago that he would be using the Hennig name on the main roster. Ever since coming to developmental, Hennig has been told to look and work like his late father because he would be using the Hennig name.
Its no secret that WWE likes complete control of their talent names, but to give a guy like David Otunga his real name on the roster and give Hennig a gimmicked name, makes no sense to most. The name Hennig would obviously mean a lot more to wrestling fans than a name like Otunga.
What You Didn't See on Raw Last Night Posted by Steve Carrier on 06/01/2010 at 10:11 PM

- Before last night's RAW hit the air, Edge came out and said that RAW hasn't started but he was going to stand in the ring and say what he wanted, and nobody could stop him. Evan Bourne came out and said he was going to make a name for himself. Bourne said he would start by challenging Edge for his spot in the Fatal 4 Way main event. They went at it and that's when RAW started.
- After last night's RAW, Edge came back out and speared Evan Bourne. Edge cut a promo on John Cena before Bret Hart came back out. Bret made Edge vs. Cena for right now. Edge said he wasn't ready but the bell rang anyway. Cena ended up winning with the STF. Cena then called Evan Bourne back out and Bourne hit another Air Bourne on Edge. Bourne and Cena left while Edge took the mic, recovered and said if he ever sees the fans again in the arena, he will slap the taste out of their mouths.
The IWF independent promotion announced today that WWE has signed Fady the Arabian Bull to a developmental deal. Fady will begin training at WWE's Florida Championship Wrestling in July of this year. Fady is the current IWF Heavyweight Champion.
Mike Davidson's Wrestling Fan Xperience (WFX) promotion is saying they have signed TV deals with Tuff TV, Lonestar Television Network and America One for it's weekly TV show. Names they are claiming for their roster include Hurricane, Jessie Godderz from CBS' Big Brother, Christopher Daniels, Charlie Haas, Kip James, Hardcore Holly, Tajiri, Bushwacker Luke, Gangrel, Sabu, Larry Zbysko with Survivor stars Jonny Fairplay & Rupert Boneham.
As announced tonight on the NXT finale, season 2 of the show will begin next Tuesday night on SyFy. Below are the Rookie and Pro pairings for the new season:
* Cody Rhodes and Husky Harris (Duke Rotundo). Rotundo is the son of former WWE star & current agent Mike "IRS" Rotundo. He has been in developmental since 2009 with his brother Bo, who is currently injured.
* John Morrison and Eli Cottonwood (Kip Christianson). Cottonwood stands over 7 feet tall and weighs over 300 pounds. He has been in developmental since 2009.
* MVP and Percy Watson (Chris McNeil). Percy has been in WWE developmental since 2009 and has teamed with former Rookie Darren Young as The South Beach Boys.
* Zack Ryder and Titus O'Neill (Thaddeus Bullard). Titus is a former Florida Gators defensive end and has been in developmental since 2009.
* Michelle McCool & Layla and Kaval (Brandon Silvestry). Kaval is the former TNA and Ring of Honor star Low Ki. Kaval recently recovered from an injury and has been signed to a WWE developmental deal since 2009. Kaval has held the TNA X Division Title twice, the ROH Title once and a number of other titles around the world. Layla and McCool are the first Pros to be Divas.
* Mark Henry and Lucky Cannon (Jon Emminger). Lucky Cannon is the former Johnny Prime and I don't believe he's been using the Lucky Cannon gimmick for long. They said on NXT that he was a former sheriff.
* Kofi Kingston and Michael McGillicutty (Joe Hennig). McGillicutty is the son of WWE Hall of Famer Curt Hennig. Up until last week, he was still using the Hennig name in developmental. Hennig has been with WWE since 2008 and has held the FCW Florida Heavyweight Title once and the FCW Tag Team Titles twice.
* The Miz and Alex Riley (Kevin Kiley). Riley has been with WWE since 2007 and is the current FCW Heavyweight Champion. He has worked several dark matches and live event matches for WWE over the years.
John Cena issued praise to one NXT Rookie in particular in a Twitter post yesterday. He wrote of Kaval, "After seeing profiles of nxt2. Keep an eye on kaval. I see somethin there."
Reports are saying that Undertaker has a broken orbital bone and will be out all summer. The injury came about during his match with Rey Mysterio on SmackDown! last week.
'Taker has been removed from all WWE events through the summer, and the situation is expected to be addressed during tonight's SmackDown! tapings.

It is being reported that The Undertaker suffered a broken orbital bone, a broken nose, and a concussion during his match with Rey Mysterio on this past week's edition of Smackdown. It's believed that Undertaker got hurt from the seated senton move by Mysterio.
Right now, it's being said that there's a 50-50 chance Undertaker will be able to wrestle at the Fatal 4 Way PPV.
With Undertaker hurt, WWE is going to have Rey Mysterio (who just started his vacation) wrestle in Undertaker's place for the time being. If Undertaker can't make the PPV, it's likely that Mysterio will be inserted into the match.
- A fan was thrown out of the WWE RAW live event on Friday night in New Orleans. Chris Jericho, before his match with John Cena, cut a promo on the fans and said that Cena is going down like the city did after Hurricane Katrina. Obviously Jericho got some major heat for this comment. Jericho was thrown over the fan barrier and into the first row during the match and was touched by a fan, which upset him. A fan then threw ice into Jerichos eye and was escorted out of the building. The other fans who touched Jericho were also kicked out.
Angelina Love comments on Lacey Von Erich Posted by Mark Virginia on 05/31/2010 at 12:10 AM
In an interview with www.Angel-Williams.net, Angelina Love comments on TNA moving back to Thursday nights, whether she misses working with Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne in "The Beautiful People," how she came up with the name Angel, working with Natalya, and more.
When asked to comment on Lacey Von Erich, who made some choice remarks about her during her brief hiatus from the organization, she answered: "Well Lacey and I had never met each other until I came back to TNA at the beginning of this year. I think having the chance to be around each other has changed any pre-conceived feelings we may have had for one another. Shes definitely one of a kind!"
Love also noted that she hopes to work with Mickie James one day.
United States Champion R-Truth def. Chris Jericho Santino Marella & Divas Champion Eve def. William Regal & Maryse Daniel Bryan def. The Miz WWE Champion John Cena & Evan Bourne def. Edge & Sheamus
AUSTIN, Texas While the WWE Universe saluted the men and women of the armed forces on Memorial Day, it was special guest host Ashton Kutcher who ordered the Raw Superstars into combat with one another in front of a capacity crowd. Atten-shun!
WWE Champion John Cena & Evan Bourne def. Edge & Sheamus (PHOTOS | WATCH) Edge thinks he just sooooo clever. The Ultimate Opportunist thought he had outsmarted his tag team opponents, WWE Champion John Cena & Randy Orton, by hammering The Vipers shoulder in an ambush prior to the match. Instead of forfeit, The Champ chose a new partner, Evan Bourne, to team with him against Edge & Sheamus.
As anyone whos ever faced Bourne knows, his athleticism and fearlessness make him an unpredictable foe. Once in the match, the intrepid Bourne refused to give up, kicking out of several near pinfalls.
When Bourne was able to contact his partner, The Champ rushed in and targeted his Irish antagonist. After a powerful back and forth, Cena tossed Sheamus from atop his shoulders and tagged in "Air" Bourne, who landed a devastating Shooting Star Press and covered the Irishman for the victory.

Alicia Fox executed a hit on Zack Ryder (PHOTOS | WATCH) Thanks to special guest host Ashton Kutcher, who stars in the action-comedy Killers, Zack Ryder was growing a little paranoid. Throughout the week, The Long Island Loudmouth had trashed the movie star on Twitter, where Kutcher has more than 5 million followers, and was worried after Kutcher put a hit out on him. After a series of false alarms from Superstars like Jerry Lawler, The Great Khali and Goldust, Ryder felt the sting of betrayal when his lady friend Alicia Fox leveled him with an unexpected scissor kick.
The Usos introduced themselves to the WWE Universe (PHOTOS | WATCH) Last week, after The Hart Dynasty defeated William Regal & Vladimir Kozlov, three mystery attackers struck them and left Tyson Kidd, David Hart Smith and Natalya down. This week, it was mystery solved. The three introduced themselves to the WWE Universe as the Uso brothers, descendants of the Samoan Anoai family, and Tamina, the daughter of Jimmy Superfly Snuka.
While the three spoke, The Hart Dynasty interrupted to exact their revenge after Raw GM Bret Hart informed them that he had signed the Usos & Tamina to Raw and challenged them to retaliate. Unfortunately for the first family of sports-entertainment, the Usos and Tamina countered the attack and, just as theyd done the previous week, the three hit top rope splashes on the pink and black trio.
Daniel Bryan def. The Miz (PHOTOS | WATCH) The student has become the master. In a stunning turn of events, former NXT Rookie Daniel Bryan defeated his NXT Pro, The Miz after securing a one-night contract from special guest host Ashton Kutcher. The relationship between Daniel Bryan and Miz began as a contentious one and continued to erode from there. After his dismissal from NXT, the indy circuit sensation has been outspoken, attacking announcer Michael Cole and challenging his supposed mentor to a match. Daniel Bryan backed up his passionate words with a pin on the former United States and Unified Tag Team Champion.
After the bout, a frustrated Miz attacked Daniel Bryan, tossing him from the ring. As the melee approached the announce table, though, the former NXT Rookie flipped the script and sent Miz careening over the table right into Cole.
Edge attacked Randy Orton prior to their Tag Team Match Still seething from an RKO suffered earlier in the evening, Edge retaliated against Randy Orton. In the locker room area, The Ultimate Opportunist waited to pounce on The Viper, ramming a heavy door into his previously injured shoulder prior to their main event tag team match, scheduled to feature WWE Champion John Cena & Orton against Edge & Sheamus.
Raw General Manager Bret Hart arranged Raw Viewer's Choice Night for next Monday (PHOTOS | WATCH) Despite a financial offer from Ted DiBiase, Raw General Manager Bret Hart refused to relinquish the reins of power for next weeks Raw. Instead, at the suggestion of special guest host Ashton Kutcher, next week Hit Man will allow the WWE Universe to voice their opinions on WWE.com by choosing the matches, stipulations and opponents they want to see compete during the first-ever, three-hour Raw Viewer's Choice Night, featuring Superstars from both Raw and SmackDown. Even the WWE Hall of Famers longtime nemesis, Mr. McMahon, dropped by to congratulate Hart on his new role and to offer his seeming support for the idea.
Santino Marella & Divas Champion Eve def. William Regal & Maryse (PHOTOS | WATCH) Santino Marella got one step closer in his quest to convince Vladimir Kozlov to team with him. When the spicy Italian teamed with Divas Champion Eve against William Regal & Maryse, Kozlov looked on from ringside. Perhaps motivated by a hollow promise made by Santino that Eve would sleep with him, The Moscow Mauler head-butted Regal. The Englishman dropped like a sack of crumpets, and a stunned Santino quickly covered him for the win.
United States Champion R-Truth def. Chris Jericho (PHOTOS | WATCH) They appear to be men heading in opposite directions. Riding a wave of momentum, newly-minted United States Champion R-Truth faced a Superstar who seems to have wiped out lately, Chris Jericho. True to recent form, Truth displayed flashes of brilliance as he topped the self-important Superstar in a non-title bout.
Edge attacked Evan Bourne; Randy Orton RKOd Edge (PHOTOS | WATCH) Patience may be a virtue, but Edge has never shown himself to be a particularly virtuous man. Before the Memorial Day broadcast even began, Edge just couldnt wait to run his mouth.
The Rated-R Superstars pre-show rant was derailed by Evan Bourne, who challenged him to put his position in the WWE Championship Match at Fatal 4-Way in jeopardy. Edge appeared less than interested and attacked the high-flyer. While Bourne nearly toppled The Ultimate Opportunist, Edge proved too cunning and grounded the young Superstar with a Spear.
As the show began, a cocksure Edge picked up where hed left off, describing how much smarter he is than his Fatal 4-Way opponents, WWE Champion John Cena, Randy Orton and Sheamus. His overconfident outburst fizzled, however, when The Viper confronted him. After Edge dismissed his rival as suffering a shoulder injury, Orton made it perfectly clear he is 100 percent by dropping The Rated-R Superstar with an RKO
In a recent interview with the ClubWWI radio show, former manager to Rob Van Dam and Sabu, Bill Alphonso said the following about a possible run with TNA:
"I'm talking to Van Dam on a weekly basis. He's trying to get my foot into TNA. We'll see how that goes. There's a 20% chance. It's big money. You know what I mean? So it's hard to get in there. I'm a real good friend of Hulk Hogan's and he's the man. We were both born on August 11th, so hopefully that works out and it's right there in Orlando. So you might see me back on the tube. That's a possibility."
Lisa Marie Varon (a/k/a Tara; formerly known as Victoria in WWE) is expected to speak with WWE officials regarding a potential return to the company now that her contract with TNA has expired.
However, friends of Varon say it's possible she'll return to TNA should WWE not make her a better contract offer as she's on good terms with management again.
Contrary to reports stating Maria Kanellis has been negotiating with TNA Wrestling officials, the former WWE Diva said in a recently filmed "shoot" interview with Highspots that while she has received overtures from people affiliated with the organization, she has not had any official conversation or offer.
As stated in previous interviews, she has not, however, ruled out joining the promotion in the future.
As reported earlier, TNA president Dixie Carter and Jeremy Borash attended Mickie James' country music album release party in Nashville last week.
Friends of the recently released WWE Diva indicate she's not looking to do anything wrestling related for the time being as she is concentrating on her burgeoning country music career.
It's also being said that she doesn't discuss wrestling much anymore amongst those close to her, however, that will likely come to pass.
Nonetheless, Carter is said to be very interested in acquiring James as she is expected to offer her a deal once her ninety-day no-compete clause with WWE expires in July.
There's a report going around that WWE has signed independent women's wrestler Su Yung to a developmental deal. Yung has been wrestling with Memphis Wrestling in Tennessee and will reportedly work for Jerry Lawler's new promotion before starting at WWE developmental in July.
TNA has had at least some interest in former WCW ring announcer Gary Michael Cappetta. Cappetta has done a bit of work with Ring of Honor in recent years but currently is teaching Spanish at Christian Brothers Academy in New Jersey.

Christian & Hornswoggle def. Dolph Ziggler & Chavo Guerrero (PHOTOS | WATCH) After Dolph Ziggler crashed the set of the Peep Show last week, Christian and Hornswoggle were out for some retribution. They found it when Christian turned the lights out for Chavo Guererro with the Killswitch. Unhappy with the outcome, Ziggler slapped an asphyxiating sleeper on Christian. After Christian drifted into la la land and Ziggler finally released the hold at the refs insistence Vickie Guerrero flashed him a mischievous smile and applauded from outside the ring.
CM Punk def. Kane in a Fatal 4-Way Qualifying Match (PHOTOS | WATCH) After Rey Mysterio shaved CM Punks head at Over the Limit, those in attendance and watching all over the world waited to see just how Punk would look. However, The Second City Saint didnt give the WWE Universe what they wanted. Instead, he concealed himself behind a skin-tight black mask, emblazoned with S.E.S. lettering. Protruding from the mask was Punks still-intact beard.
Although his symbol of purity had been taken, Punk seemed to embrace his new appearance and used it to fuel his fight against Kane. As Serena distracted the referee, Luke Gallows punched The Big Red Monster in the head. With Kane still reeling, Punk capitalized and hit the Go to Sleep for the Fatal 4-Way qualifying win.
Big Show & Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston def. World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger & Drew McIntyre (PHOTOS | WATCH) While ensuring that World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger was watching, Big Show delivered a debilitating knockout punch to Drew McIntyre to simultaneously win the bout for his team, while also sending a strong message to his Fatal 4-Way opponent.
Matt Hardy was suspended without pay (PHOTOS | WATCH) The night started with major news coming in the form of another letter from Mr. McMahon that Drew McIntyre hand-delivered to SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long. As Long read McMahons words out loud, it was revealed that Matt Hardy was suspended without pay for his reckless actions at Over the Limit.
After Long read the letter, McIntyre issued his own ominous words: If you turn a blind eye to my misfortunes one more time, I guarantee you, the next letter you receive from me will be informing you of your termination as General Manager.
Furious at the news, Matt Hardy entered the arena, itching to get his hands on McIntyre. Despite Hardys best efforts to get a piece of the Scottish Superstar, WWE officials restrained and prevented him from approaching the ring.
