Was Goldberg offered a contract by TNA?
Posted by Mark Virginia on 02/17/2010 at 02:37 PM

Bill Goldberg posted the following note on his Twitter account concerning apparent rumors that TNA has offered him a contract:

"Let's get the record straight...From my lips......TNA has not contacted me. Period. No B.S."

Unified Tag Team Champions The Miz & Big Show def. Yoshi Tatsu & Goldust (Title Match)
Ezekiel Jackson def. ECW Champion Christian (Extreme Rules Title Match)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The WWE Universe bid an emotional, historic farewell to ECW on Syfy from the Sprint Center Arena Tuesday night. But as WWE closes the door on the Land of the Extreme, we’ll soon say hello to the new evolution of reality television with the debut of WWE NXT.

Ezekiel Jackson def. ECW Champion Christian (Extreme Rules Title Match) (PHOTOS | WATCH)
It took Ezekiel Jackson months, but The Guyanese Goliath and his mentor, William Regal, finally accomplished what they set out to achieve on ECW on Syfy – total domination. In the final ECW match, Big Zeke conquered ECW Champion Christian under Extreme Rules, becoming the last Superstar to ever hold the ECW Title. (WATCH: Christian's ECW goodbye)

But during the most important match of Big Zeke’s career, several ECW Superstars and Divas tried to stand in his way. A meddling Zack Ryder and his girlfriend, Rosa Mendes, wanted to interfere, as The Long Island Loudmouth was jealous he didn’t earn another chance at the ECW Title. After Christian hit Ryder with a steel trash can, Rosa slapped Christian in the face. Then ECW General Manager Tiffany became involved, quieting the intrusive Rosa by shockingly tossing her to the mat. (WATCH: Ryder & Rosa interrupt Tiffany) And as always, longtime ECW Champion Christian fought Big Zeke with all of his heart and soul. Captain Charisma hit Regal with a Killswitch, but lost the brutal Extreme Rules Match after The Guyanese Goliath tossed him through a table.

In the end, no one could stop Jackson on his quest for ECW domination, not even Christian. Now that the ECW Title is retired, the WWE Universe is left to wonder where Big Zeke will wreak havoc next.

Unified Tag Team Champions The Miz & Big Show def. Yoshi Tatsu & Goldust (Title Match) (PHOTOS | WATCH)
After defeating Trent Barreta & Caylen Croft last week, Yoshi Tatsu & Goldust had their hearts set on departing the Land of the Extreme with the Unified Tag Team Championships firmly around their waists. But the duo of The Miz & Big Show was too tough and tricky for ECW’s odd couple, as Show-Miz stole a win to retain the Unified Tag Team Titles. After Big Show sent Tatsu over the top rope, he punched Goldust in the ribs while the referee’s attention was diverted, assisting United States Champion The Miz, who hit The Bizarre One with his Skull-Crushing Finale for the tag team victory.

“The Abraham Washington Show” (PHOTOS | WATCH)
WWE’s critically-acclaimed talk show host, Abraham Washington, saved his biggest guest for the final episode of ECW – himself. But before Washington could brag too much about becoming a rich free agent in WWE, he was interrupted by several ECW Superstars who had plenty to say about their futures in WWE. Shelton Benjamin, Vance Archer, Vladimir Kozlov and Caylen Croft & Trent Barreta joined Washington and WWE Hall of Famer Tony Atlas in the ring. In true “Abraham Washington” fashion, the show descended into utter chaos. When The Moscow Mauler offered his two cents in Russian, he was mocked by Archer, and Croft & Barreta, prompting Kozlov to attack them with the help of his new comrade, Benjamin.

WWE NXT debuts next week (MORE | PHOTOS | WATCH)
Tune in to Syfy next Tuesday night at the same time, 10/9 CT, to see the world premiere of WWE NXT, a hybrid live event/reality show featuring eight well-known, popular WWE Superstars mentoring eight WWE Rookies.

    ECW TITLE IS NIET MEER

WWE's website has confirmed that the ECW Title is retired. There was speculation last week that it may be kept around as a mid-card draw for some pay-per-views but it looks like that idea was shot down.

RVD ZEGT DAT KANS GROOT IS DAT IE NAAR TNA GAAT
    RVD_2Belts_2.jpg RVD_2Belts_2.jpg image by ok_killer_go
Rob Van Dam appeared on the Right After Wrestling Sirius XM satellite radio show on Monday night and gave an update on his wrestling future.

Now that TNA iMPACT! is moving to Monday nights starting March 8th, could we see "Mr. Monday Night" back where he belongs? Van Dam said, "I feel fairly optimistic because I know TNA is trying really hard to make a good deal for me and that's basically where we're at."

He added that there's a "good possibility" he will consider an offer from TNA and WWE's hectic travel schedule is something he's not looking to relive. "Everything is worth putting on the table to consider, but when it comes time to consider going back to that full-time travel schedule with WWE, that's not something that I'm wanting to do right now," RVD said. "The schedule with TNA and also probably their appreciation for RVD might also be a benefit over WWE."

RVD says that WWE wants him back too, but TNA has been more pro-active about trying to sign him. "WWE would love to have me come back on a full-time basis, but as you know by pointing out that Hogan called into my radio show and stayed on for about an hour, they have been very pro-active and trying to acquire RVD," RVD said. "That leads me to believe I would have a good spot if things do work out there. We'll see."

WWE wants him, but RVD has not forgotten that he was unhappy towards the end of his last run there. "WWE had me so burnt out because my contract said I would get a weekend off every month and I never did and they wouldn't give it to me," RVD said. "When I would tell them I'm so burnt out I don't want to be here and I'm resenting traveling and coming to work every day, they would double-book me. So, that's how it went down."

What you didn't see on RAW this week

Thanks to Edward for sending in live notes from Monday's RAW from Des Moines, Iowa:

    Before RAW:

    - Dark Match: Jack Swagger squashed a jobber and got the win after his Gutwrench Powerbomb.

    - For Superstars, they taped:

    * Evan Bourne & Primo vs. Chavo Guerrero & Carlito
    * Gail Kim vs. Katie Lea

    After RAW:

    - Sheamus got on the microphone after Raw went off of the air and said that if Cena wants his WWE Title match, he can have it right now.

    - Dark Match Main Event: John Cena defeated WWE champion Sheamus by disqualification, so Sheamus retained. The referee disqualified Sheamus for shoving him.

    BTLS done with TNA Wrestling?

Arron Pegg sent along the following:

Just a small bit of news that Bubba The Love Sponge said on his Twitter regarding whether or not he'll be at tonight's TNA PPV:

'nope I'm not on it. 3 weeks since I've done anything. I think they might be done with me. Bubba'

Considering that Bubba has legitimate heat in the Impact Zone and amongst TNA along with a huge radio audience -- which means free advertising all over the country, it must be said TNA has dropped the Bubba ball on this one....in my own personal opinion.

John Cena vs. Triple H ended in a No Contest

DES MOINES, Iowa - The rowdy guests on The Jerry Springer Show are known for catching the objects of their scorn off guard and landing a painful blow or two. As evidenced by several WWE Superstars, however, those dirty tactics aren’t confined solely to the stage of Raw’s latest special guest host, Jerry Springer.

John Cena vs. Triple H ended in a No Contest (PHOTOS | WATCH)
The WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match this Sunday promises to be a doozey. As if the animosity swirling around Satan’s Structure isn’t going to be deafening enough, WWE Champion Sheamus keeps amping up the volume.

In the final singles match of the night pitting Elimination Chamber competitors against one another, John Cena faced off against Triple H. Before the two locomotives could settle things, however, they were derailed when The Celtic Warrior burst into the ring and nailed The Game with a pump kick. As the Irishman set up to stomp Cena likewise, his target shifted and battled back. All for naught, though, as the WWE Champion regained his bearings and also dropped Cena with a pump kick. For good measure, The Celtic Warrior then slammed Triple H again, this time with a crucifix bomb, before standing tall in the ring heading into this Sunday’s WWE Elimination Chamber.

Raw special guest hosts next week will be singer Jewel and pro rodeo cowboy Ty Murray
Hold onto your hats, WWE Universe. Next Monday night, award-winning singer Jewel and her husband, pro rodeo cowboy Ty Murray, mosey on into Raw to take over as special guest co-hosts.

Batista warned John Cena of The Animal’s return to Raw next week (WATCH)
The tension between powerhouses Batista and John Cena hung heavy inside the Wells Fargo Arena. It was only two weeks earlier that The Animal had attacked Cena and slammed him onto a set of steel steps. After Cena challenged his attacker to a fight last Monday, Batista finally responded this week – via TitanTron. After Cena accused The Animal of siding with Mr. McMahon over WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart, Batista assured Cena that he would get his comeuppance. In fact, The Animal promised that he will be at Raw next Monday to confront the man who called him “pathetic.”

2010 WWE Hall of Fame Inductee announcement: Antonio Inoki (WATCH)
The latest Superstar to join the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2010 will be Antonio Inoki, the legendary Japanese wrestler. Inoki was famous for his athleticism and strength in his homeland, where he founded New Japan Pro Wrestling in 1972. Among his more notable opponents, Inoki battled Ric Flair as well as boxer Muhammad Ali.

Ted DiBiase def. Kofi Kingston (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Ted DiBiase continues to prove he’s one tough cuss. Despite suffering a kick to the face from WWE Champion Sheamus earlier in the night, an exhausted DiBiase managed to power through the pain to just barely overcome Kofi Kingston in the second singles match of the night pitting competitors from this Sunday’s WWE Title Elimination Chamber Match.

Special guest host Jerry Springer hosted “WWE’s Most Intimate Relationships Revealed” (PHOTOS | WATCH: PART 1 | PART 2)
As any loyal member of the WWE Universe can tell you, Superstars and Divas don’t exactly live a quiet life. Even so, when special guest host Jerry Springer served as master of ceremonies in a segment he dubbed “WWE’s Most Intimate Relationships Revealed,” the scenario proved so lurid – and confusing – it was enough to make even Jerry blush.

It all started when Kelly Kelly admitted to The King of Controversy that she was pregnant. In the process of determining who the father might be, Santino Marella, Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, Chris Masters, The Great Khali and even Hornswoggle stepped forth to take credit. As if that weren’t enough, The Bella Twins confessed that Brie is really a man!

When Jerry had enough, the Superstars let him off the hook, admitting that they’d concocted the whole thing. In the end, though, Mae Young stopped by to send the daytime talker off with a bang.

Mark Henry & MVP def. Unified Tag Team Champions Big Show & The Miz in a Non-Title Match (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Call it the first cloud to their silver lining. Last week, Big Show & The Miz had plenty to celebrate when they defeated DX – and the Straight Edge Society – to capture the Unified Tag Team Championships. Perhaps they did too much celebrating. After all, “Show-Miz,” as they’ve dubbed themselves, lost this week in a non-title match to Mark Henry & MVP when The Franchise Playa pinned Miz, also the United States Champion.

Bret Hart addressed WWE Universe, injured in accident (PHOTOS | WATCH)
After weeks of betrayal and humiliation at the hands of Mr. McMahon, Bret Hart addressed the WWE Universe. The WWE Hall of Famer explained that he had hoped to make peace but to no avail. He then wanted to fight The Chairman at WrestleMania to settle their differences once and for all. Again, no dice. After several frustrations, he explained, he was leaving for good but wanted to thank the Superstars and fans who supported him.

However, as The Excellence of Execution left the arena, an unidentified woman accidentally smashed her car into Hart, pinning his legs between her car and another automobile. Hart was immediately rushed away in an ambulance. WWE.com will update the situation as conditions warrant.

WWE Champion Sheamus def. Randy Orton by Disqualification (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Randy Orton would probably rather forget the last seven days. Last Monday, he lost to one of his protégés, Cody Rhodes, after WWE Champion Sheamus distracted him. This Monday, in the first of three matches pitting competitors from Sunday’s WWE Title Elimination Chamber Match, The Viper faced off against The Celtic Warrior. While the non-title bout seemed to be going well, Orton’s Legacy henchmen, Rhodes & Ted DiBiase interfered. Rhodes nailed Sheamus, causing his Legacy ringleader to lose by disqualification.

As one would imagine, the aftermath was anything but pretty. A livid Viper leveled Rhodes with an RKO just before the WWE Champion hobbled DiBiase with a pump kick. One conciliation for Orton? The Viper reacted quickly and left the Irishman immobile after dropping him with an RKO.

Mr. Anderson to miss Against All Odds PPV?
Posted by Mark Virginia on 02/13/2010 at 12:47 PM

In a series of Twitter updates, TNA wrestler Mr. Anderson teases he will have an uphill battle making it to Florida for the Against all Odds event on Sunday.

"I've done a lot of traveling, but I've NEVER seen an airport as jammed as it was this morn," Tweeted Anderson. "We were put on standby, but the 1st confirmed flight isn't until MONDAY! How bout that PPV on Sunday?! So say a lil prayer for us that we actually make it onto a flight today."

Chris Jericho def. World Heavyweight Champion Undertaker

BATON ROUGE, La. – Six of Friday night’s finest Superstars – each of who will step into WWE Elimination Chamber for an opportunity at the World Heavyweight Championship in just nine days – went head-to-head on SmackDown. But in the end, it would be Edge who would make the most explosive statement of the night.

Chris Jericho def. World Heavyweight Champion Undertaker in a non-title match (PHOTOS | WATCH)
With the 2010 Royal Rumble winner Edge joining the broadcast table (Watch Edge before the match), Chris Jericho pinned The Undertaker in an earth-shattering No Disqualification Match. After the action stretched outside the ring, The Phenom suddenly leveled the nearby Rated-R Superstar with a big boot. The Deadman then went on to execute the Last Ride on Jericho, only to be speared by the revived Ultimate Opportunist. This stunned The Demon of Death Valley enough for “the best in the world at what he does” to finish him off with the Codebreaker.

Rey Mysterio def. CM Punk (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Earlier, in the first match between those that will meet in Satan’s Structure, The Master of the 619 scored a hard-fought victory over The Second City Saint, using his amazing athleticism to counter the GTS. for the three-count. But, after the bell, The Straight Edge Society retaliated with a vengeance, leaving the war torn Mysterio reeling on the canvas.

R-Truth def. John Morrison (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Before the second showdown of the night between WWE Elimination Chamber participants could heat up, The A-Lister suffered an injury, making it impossible for him to continue his match with the Rapping Superstar.

Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre vs. Kane ends in a double count-out (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Following a fierce Triple Threat Match one week ago against John Morrison, Drew McIntrye - undefeated in singles competition - claimed that he didn’t care who his opponent of the week would be. But “The Chosen One” appeared to be having second thoughts when he discovered that he would be facing The Big Red Monster.

Nevertheless, the two Superstars proceeded to engage in an onslaught of brutality so intense, no clear winner could be established. In the aftermath, when MyIntyre attempted to use the Intercontinental Title as a weapon, Kane countered with a decisive chokeslam on his ruthless adversary.

    Batista’s silence is deafening (PHOTOS)
With absolute silence, Batista refused to explain why he helped WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon attack Hall of Famer Bret Hart, Batista Bombed John Cena on a set of steel steps and walked away from an opportunity at the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Elimination Chamber one week ago. As a result, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long announced that next week, Batista will go one-on-one with The Rated-R Superstar. (Watch match preview)

Michelle McCool & Layla def. Women’s Champion Mickie James (PHOTOS | WATCH)
After Vickie Guerrero became the unwilling recipient of a bowl of cottage cheese that Mickie James knocked from Michelle McCool’s hands (Watch), SmackDown’s Official Consultant decided to add Michelle McCool to the Women’s Champion’s match with Layla, making the confrontation a Handicap Match. Despite an extremely valiant effort by Mickie, Team Lay-Cool proved victorious on the wings of Michelle’s devastating Faithbreaker.

The Great Khali & Matt Hardy def. The Hart Dynasty  (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Before the tag team action could get under way, Matt Hardy introduced Maria as his “special valentine.” After the stunning Diva mixed things up with an interfering Natalya, Hardy captured a victory for himself and The Punjabi Playboy with a roll-up on Tyson Kidd.

As reported earlier, TNA sent out a press release on Friday stating that Dixie Carter and Hulk Hogan would be making a "major announcement" on Monday afternoon prior to the iMPACT! tapings. It is almost certain that TNA will be announcing that iMPACT! is moving to Monday nights in March.

Following the ratings success of January 4th's Monday night iMPACT! special, TNA and Spike have been working out a deal that would bring iMPACT! to Monday nights permanently. While there were serious of hang-ups during the negotiations, most of the major hurdles have been cleared.

No word on if they'll run from 8-10EST or 9-11 EST although there were rumors several weeks ago that TNA iMPACT! would run from 9-11pm (eastern), head-to-head with WWE RAW for two hours straight. The show will not be live each week at the beginning, but it's certainly an option down the road if the show is a success and the show generates more money. It appears right now that one week will be live and the following week will be taped on Tuesday. They would continue that rotation (one week live, one week taped) for the time being.

As for what qualifies as successful, it's believed that a 1.2-1.5 is what both sides are expecting. There is always the possibility that Spike moves the show back to Thursday nights in the event that the rating falls off significantly, but the network is said to be behind TNA and will give them some time to establish themselves on Monday nights.

On her Twitter feed (twitter.com/tnadixie), Dixie Carter said that an announcement would be forthcoming about a TNA pay-per-view in the UK. She also said that Bravo's ratings had broken records for the month, but encouraged fans who were displeased at the network's decision to stop carrying pay per views to contact Bravo.

    Jack Swagger def. Santino Marella
ECW Champion Christian def. Zack Ryder
    Dolph Ziggler def. JTG

This week saw “WWE Superstars” host its final ECW match, a bout between ECW Champion Christian and Zack Ryder. That wasn’t the only competition however, as Santino Marella sought out payback from Jack Swagger and SmackDown ring warriors JTG and Dolph Ziggler squared off in the ring.

In the main event of “WWE Superstars,” JTG took on the aggressive Dolph Ziggler. Through a hard-fought match, these ambitious young Superstars pulled out all the stops, hoping to build momentum going into the next night’s SmackDown. At one point, JTG thought he had the match in the bag, but his opponent managed to get a foot on the ropes, breaking up the count. Ziggler then sprang into action, turning the match around to pick up the win.

Just days before the final ECW, Christian hoped to gain some momentum going into his ECW Title defense against Ezekiel Jackson in an Extreme Rules Match. In his match against Zack Ryder, Captain Charisma showed that he was intent on keeping the ECW Championship firmly around his waist, and ultimately defeated The Long Island Loudmouth in the last ECW match to air on “WWE Superstars.”

Jack Swagger def. Santino Marella (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Weeks ago, Santino Marella was brutally injured by Jack Swagger, and therefore unable to take part in the Royal Rumble Match. On “WWE Superstars” however, the Italian Superstar hoped to gain some matter of retribution from his nemesis. Unfortunately, the extensive amateur background of “The All-American American” was too much for Marella to overcome, as Swagger sealed the deal with his Gutwrench Powerbomb.
