Nashville, TN, September 24, 2006 Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling announced today that Olympic gold medalist and pro wrestling megastar Kurt Angle has signed exclusively with the company. It was also announced that TNA iMPACT! will move to 9:00 PM ET/PT Thursdays on Spike TV starting November 16.
Reasons behind his release have now become public. While out of the ring since April, Wright had been rehabbing leg injuries and was reportedly close to being ready to return to action this month. WWE management were said to have been unhappy with his commitment to return to the ring, with the general feeling being he was doing the bare minimum to get back in shape.
In addition, there were said to have been numerous issues with Wright not checking in with doctors when he was scheduled to do so. He had been warned a few times about his conduct, but despite the warnings he made no effort to change his behavior and was then let go by the company. As noted before, Wright was scheduled to return to Smackdown sometime this month as promos began airing on Friday Night Smackdown pushing his return. Is there a chance? Hell yeah! Although for the immediate future, Jeff is on the RAW brand, and Matt is on the SmackDown brand--we are both in the WWE. As we all know, anything can happen in the WWE. I'd bet my jimmy legs that the Hardy Boyz will reunite and be better and more entertaining than ever. When the situation arises, I believe Jeff and I will be more dominate than we were before. ECW debuted on SCI FI as a summer series in June on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT, providing an alternative brand of wrestling suited to fit the Channel's commitment to fuel the imagination. The program met with immediate success, with its premiere attracting more than 1.8 million new viewers to SCI FI; 43% of the ECW's premiere audience had not watched the SCI FI Channel during the prior 4 weeks. The debut also set a Channel record for a series premiere attracting 1.07 million viewers 18-34, the most ever in the demographic.

Reports from the ECW House Show last night in Philadelphia at the former ECW Arena have stated that a fight broke out when some John Cena fans were jumped by ECW fans. And no, we aren't making this up. According to reports, the Cena fans were very vocal during the entire event and once they got outside, a brawl broke out and security broke it up.
