Midway through ECW on Sci Fi, Brad Armstrong of the legendary Armstrong family joined Joey Styles and Tazz at the announce table. Armstrong, former WCW Cruiserweight Champion, helped to provide insight on the match between Matt Striker and Balls Mahoney.
When I worked for WCW, I would set the VCR for ECW, Armstrong admitted. It was a one-hour action-packed show. Im thrilled to be a part of it.
Armstrong said WWE and ECW are the companies he always dreamed of working for.
Wrestling is a bit of a lost art these days, he said. Thats why you see guys like Finlay and Hardcore Holly in the ring: veterans who are hitting their stride, who are really hitting their peak. Making his commentating debut left Armstrong with jitters, but he credited Styles and Tazz for making his job easier with their talent.
Its a new challenge, Armstrong explained. Im trying to stay physically fit as I get older, but this is a different direction. You have to challenge your mind as well as your body.
Despite being nervous, Armstrong enjoyed having the opportunity to speak to ECW fans. Sitting at the announce table has been a dream for him since childhood.
If I can get paid for running my mouth, thats the way I want to go. Its not that Im doing anything different; its just that Im calling wrestling instead of wrestling.

When Womens Champion Mickie James isnt kicking ass in the ring, shes hitting the books. She recently earned her Associate of Arts Degree of Business Administration and plans to begin studying in February for her Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Operations Management.
I felt like I needed to do this, and I wanted something to fall back on. You never know if I got hurt or something like that where would I go from there? James told WWE.com. I set myself up so Im prepared, no matter what.
By earning her bachelors degree, James will be able to open and run her own businesses something she has many ideas about.
Ive always wanted to run my horse farm. So Id definitely like to have a background to understand that, she said, referring to her lifelong passion for horses.
The Diva has plans to share her business knowledge as well.
I wanted to help my sister, Latoya, because shes an awesome cook. Shes one of the best culinary people Ive ever met, she said. She makes awesome cakes, so I was thinking about starting a little coffee shop café where she could sell them. I want to open a little small, mom-and-pop place, but she can also do catering, too.
James takes classes online, signing on in the evening or when she has free time, at least once a day.
I get two to three assignments each week before class, and I communicate with a group for assignments. I have two to three classes at a time, so thats six or seven assignments, she explained. Plus Im traveling on the road and doing all this other stuff. So I have to make sure I put my time into it.
While a few of her classmates have curiously inquired if she is indeed the Mickie James of WWE fame, she tries to keep to herself and focus all her time online studying. She listed her favorite classes as anything related to art, English and literature. Her least favorite? Math.
I love art, painting and drawing; and studying art, like Rembrandt and Van Gogh. I love English and literature, she admitted. I hate math! Im horrible at it, but I have to take it.
James also offered a bit of advice to any students who might feel discouraged about completing a college degree.
When I got out of high school I didnt go straight to college. If I could do it, then I hope they could do it, because Im juggling a lot here. Dont give up, she encouragingly said.
Go for it and finish that degree because its useful. Its not going to hurt you, its only going to help you.
Carlito was busted wide open on Monday during his emotional encounter with Chris Masters. The young Superstar needed several stiches to close the bloody wound.
Joey Mercurys face, a raw, inflamed mess with blood still seeping out from his stitches, was scarlet red around his nose and left eye with hundreds of flakes of dry blood clinging to various places on his face.
Ive shattered my nose around the bridge area, said a bruised and swollen Mercury, who was severely injured at last nights Armageddon pay-per-view in a Ladder Match. I have four fractures on the inside of my nose; I have 5 stitches on the inside of my nose and my cheek and 15 stitches on the outside of my nose and cheek. My left eye is swollen shut and I have continual internal bleeding from my nose and my eye.
To Mercurys credit, the injury that would have knocked most people out cold only left him momentarily stunned.
I remember everything [about the incident], he said. I never lost consciousness and I never passed out.
Asked what it felt like when the legs of the ladder dug into his face and ripped a gaping hole down his nose and under his eye, he thought long and hard before he spoke.
I have nothing to compare it to; Ive never been hit that hard in the face before, he said as he paused. Id have to say it felt like a hundred-pound steel ladder connecting with my face at one-hundred miles per hour; or going head first through a windshield of a car without a seatbelt on; maybe getting hit in the face with a baseball bat swung by Sammy Sosa.
Mercury made it clear it was the outcome of the match, not the injury, that was on his mind the day after the ghastly incident.
Had I not been forced to leave the match due to a severe amount of blood loss, MNM would be the WWE Tag Team Champions, he said. Again, we made it clear that MNM is the greatest tag team in the modern era not The Hardys.

Eduardo Gory Guerrero Llanes (9 oktober 1967 13 november 2005), beter bekend bij zijn bijnaam, Eddie Guerrero, was een Mexicaans Amerikaanse professioneel worstelaar. Chavo verdedigde zijn oom door te zeggen dat hij zijn "persoonlijke demonen" had verslagen. WWE Voorzitter Vince McMahon weigerde om te speculeren over mogelijkheden van Eddie Guerrero's dood en beide mannen zeiden dat Guerrero zou willen dat de show door zou gaan.
Reden van zijn dood
Door een autopsie werd onthuld dat Eddie Guerrero was gestorven als resultaat van acuut hart falen, veroorzaakt door een ongediagnostiseerde arteriosclerotische cardiovasculaire ziekte en vergroting van het hart als een resultaat van eerder anabolen steroiden misbruik. Hoewel Eddie Guerrero al meer dan vier jaar geen alcohol of verboden medicijnen had genomen heeft zijn vroegere overmatige gebruik bijgedragen aan zijn hart falen. Gedurende de tijd van zijn dood had hij onlangs narcotische pijnstillers gebruikt.
Eddie Guerrero's vrouw Vickie zei dat bij onwel was de week die vooraf ging aan de week voor zijn dood, maar dat hij dit had toegeschreven aan de stress van het continue reizen en optreden. Ze voegde toe dat de doktoren haar hadden verteld dat Eddie Guerrero's bloedvaten geraveld en verzwakt waren door een ongediagnostiseerde hartziekte en dat hij in een diepe slaap was geraakt.
Op de 30 november 2005 editie van WWE Byte This! zei Chavo Guerrero Jr. dat Eddie Guerrero heel hard had gewerkt en op de top van zijn fysieke kunnen was door dagelijkse cardiovasculaire en gewichten training oefeningen. Er waren geen symptomen of redenen tot bezorgdheid benadrukte Guerrero Jr., terwijl andere mensen die voor meer dan 10 jaar drugs gebruiken geen enkel effect hebben. Eddie Guerrero kreeg ondanks dat hij het drugs gebruik 4 jaar eerder had opgegeven hart complicaties die niet op tijd waren ontdekt om zijn dood te kunnen voorkomen.
Eddie Guerrero's begrafenis vond plaats op 17 november 2005 in Phoenix (Arizona), Arizona op de Green Acres Begraafplaats. De besloten ceremonie werd voorgezeten door de gepensioneerde worstelaar "Superstar" Billy Graham. Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, Chris Jericho, JBL, Vince McMahon, Tom Prichard, alle broers van Eddie Guerrero, een van zijn zusters, Chavo Guerrero Jr. en Valerie Coleman Graham spraken op zijn begrafenis. Een groot aantal worstelaars en worstelpersoonlijkheden waren ook aanwezig.
Als een direct antwoord op de dood van Eddie Guerrero kondigde WWE Voorzitter Vince McMahon aan dat drugs testen zou worden aangevangen voor WWE worstelaars, die begonnen in maart 2006. Eddie Guerrero werd toegevoegd aan de WWE Hall of Fame op 1 april 2006 door Chris Benoit, Rey Mysterio en zijn neef Chavo Guerrero in Chicago, op de vooravond van Wrestlemania 22. Following the horrendous two-handed chokeslam at the monstrous paws of The Great Khali on ECW on Sci Fi, ECW Original Tommy Dreamer was carted out of the Hampton Coliseum on a stretcher and received immediate medical attention from WWE medical staff.
According to WWE physician Dr. Ferdinand Rios, Dreamer suffered a mild concussion, in addition to whiplash, a wrenched back and bruised kidneys.
"It looked like [Dreamer] had been involved in a car accident," Rios said.

King Booker is especially excited this holiday season as he is ready to launch his wrestling academy into the spotlight. Pro Wrestling Alliance, PWA as it is known, has been gearing up for two years in anticipation of this moment: their first show.
This show is hopefully going to bring wrestling back to the Houston area, and breed new stars for the wrestling business," Booker said. "Never in a million years would I have imagined doing this, but here I am with my own company and my own organization. Maybe I can be the Vince McMahon of the Houston area.
Booker has high expectations for PWA, and for the past two years has been working towards making his dream a reality. Hes looking forward to elevating wrestling in the Houston area, and has had a lot of help in doing so.
Ive been the only trainer for the past year, but I just hired another trainer, and Sharmell has helped this whole venture immensely," Booker continued. "Christmas Chaos is going to be great because of all that help."
Booker won't be the only Superstar at the event either. He's brought in some help.
"This Thursday, at 7 p.m., King Booker is going to run the PWA kingdom, and I wont be alone. Boogeyman, Sly and Charlie Haas are all going to make appearances at the show, so come on out and enjoy the show.
Christmas Chaos is Thursday Dec. 21, 7 p.m., at the Pasadena Convention Center, Pasadena, Texas.
With his victory at Armageddon, Gregory Helms continued his nearly year long reign as Cruiserweight Champion.
Since winning the Cruiserweight Open Challenge last January, Helms made a personal promise to himself. Some people read about history, some people write about history, and some people make history. Thats what Im doing, day by day, making history, he said.
The SmackDown Superstar is proving his words to be true. With his victory at Armageddon, Helms has become the longest running champion in the history of SmackDown and he doesnt plan on slowing down.
In this business, if youre not getting better, youre getting worse. You cant be complacent; you cant sit on your laurels. I dont see losing my title anytime soon.
Having defeated all challengers to his championship, including Jimmy Wang Yang, Helms has held the title longer than the likes of Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero, men who went on to win World Championships. Although he is happy to make history, the Cruiserweight Champion has begun to assess his future, hinting at setting his sights even higher.
I can see myself holding onto this title and winning another. I could challenge Chris Benoit for the United States Championship, and I can see myself even challenging Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship, he said. I have no fear of anybody, and I wont back down from anybody. Ive defended the Cruiserweight Championship all over the world, and will continue to do what I do best, and that is win. Ive sent cruiserweights packing from SmackDown.
Helms has set the precedent very high for not just those with aspirations of holding the Cruiserweight Championship, but for all other champions in WWE. Gregory Helms may not be the most popular with the fans, but his talent has spoken for itself with his historical run.
When I set a goal, I reach it. When I reach it, I set a higher one. I have done this already, and will continue to do that the rest of my career.
Following his fiery confrontation with Kane in the Inferno Match at Armageddon, MVP surprisingly received only first-degree burns to his back.
According to WWE medical staff, MVP was able to leave the Richmond Coliseum in this condition because the 500-degree flames engulfed a large surface area of his body rather than being concentrated only to one area.
First-degree burns similar to those afflicting MVP typically involve minimal tissue damage and primarily affect the skin surface causing severe pain, redness and swelling.

During his match at Armageddon, Joey Mercury was rushed from the arena and to a nearby hospital after one of the ladders smashed him in the face and caused his nose to pour blood.
After examination, it was announced that Mercury had suffered a broken nose, which required four stitches to the inside and 14 on the outside of the nose. According to the doctors, Mercury's nasal passage is all clear and he should be alright.
