News on Santino Marella's status with WWE

News on Santino Marella's status with WWE

The reason for Marella's absence this week is because he was apparently not brought to Monday's RAW/ECW taping in Jacksonville. Marella was nowhere to be seen on either program. He also didn't appear at house show events over the weekend.

As reported earlier, one way WWE is looking to cut costs is by not flying in every single active talent on the roster to the weekly tapings unless they actually have plans to use them. In the past, WWE would fly in everyone on the roster whether they had plans to use them or not. Last week, Cryme Tyme weren't brought to the weekly RAW taping for the first time since their return to the company.

According to Dave Meltzer, WWE is also down on Marella's character right now.

    Mae Young appearing at Wrestlemania?

    Mae Young appearing at Wrestlemania?

    Credit: F4WOnline.com

While many former women's wrestlers have been contacted to participate in the 25-Diva Battle Royal at Wrestlemania XXV in Houston, WWE Hall of Famer Mae Young has not (at last word).

Young wasn't even aware of such a match until a friend of hers called and asked her if she was going to be in it.

It's been speculated that after her fall during her last wrestling appearance in November (she threw a few forearms, got dizzy, and fell down), officials are now realizing she's far too old to perform in the ring. Young is 86-years-old for those keeping score.

Nonetheless, Young will likely be brought in during WrestleMania weekend because she always is — she just won't be competing.

Two more ex-Divas not appearing at WM 25

Two more ex-Divas not appearing at WM 25

    Credit: Gerweck.net

Two more former WWE Divas in Nora "Molly Holly" Greenwald and Terri Runnels will not be taking part in the 25-Diva Battle Royal at WrestleMania XXV in Houston.

While Greenwald has no plans to participate in the match, she will be signing autographs at the Axxess event during WrestleMania weekend. In other Greenwald news, she will be departing on Monday for a two-week trip to Afghanistan.

Runnels has plans to join Greenwald on the trip as she will be taking part in the 10-day Divas of Wrestling Goodwill Military Tour. Regarding the 25-Diva Battle Royal at WrestleMania, Runnels has no interest in wrestling women.

"Female matches are not my thing," Runnels commented.

Runnels still has WrestleMania-related plans though. Following the trip to Afghanistan, she will be hosting an unofficial WrestleMania XXV event during WrestleMania weekend in Taylor, Michigan.

Latest on Vince's lack of faith in Christian

Latest on Vince's lack of faith in Christian

    sources: www.pwtorch.com, PWInsider.com

Vince McMahon isn't a big fan of ECW wrestler Christian, according to one former WWE employee. It's no secret that the WWE chairman doesn't view him as a "star."

"He cares more about the doormat at his house than Christian," said the former employee. "I don't understand why you re-up with the guy and then don't do anything with him."

In another Christian note, he told friends TNA's final offer to him was a five-year deal worth $2.5 million for a certain number of dates per year. However, one company source disputes the contract offer as Christian would have jumped at it.

The two time NWA World Heavyweight Champion made it clear to TNA president Dixie Carter that his lack of faith in the creative team was a big reason for his departure from the organization.

Tonight’s show starts off with a look back at last week with the comments from the Main Event Mafia, Mick Foley, and Jeff Jarrett as they build to the match on Sunday between Kurt Angle and Sting.

Kurt Angle is walking in the back and he does not look happy.

We are live on tape from Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida and your announcers are Mike ‘Solo’ Tenay

Kurt Angle arrives in the Anglevator and he is wearing his velvet hoodie to the ring. Kurt wants Jarrett to come out because his suspension is over. Kurt says that Jarrett crossed the line by kicking him out of the Impact Zone last week. He should not have used his pay to get suits for the Frontline. Kurt says that he is sick in the head and he wants to show Jeff how sick he is. Tonight it will be Jeff Jarrett and on Sunday it will be Sting.

Jeff Jarrett has had enough and he comes out with his founder’s guitar. Mick Foley and BG James try to stop Jarrett from getting into the ring. Jarrett does not want to listen to James and Foley and he wants to fight, just like the fans want.

Mick wants to know what is wrong with Kurt Angle. He wants to know if Kurt has lost his mind. Mick wants to know what happened to the Olympic hero he met ten years ago. Kurt says that it has nothing to do with Mick, but Mick says that it has everything to do with him. Mick says that he put his own money on the line six months ago because he believed in the company and guys like A.J. Styles and Samoa Joe. He also believed in Kurt Angle because he is the best that he has ever seen. The more he saw of Kurt Angle, the more he saw the real Kurt Angle. The ego, the self preservation, and the fact that he would do whatever it takes to bring the company down. Mick says that he thought he could reason with the rest of the non-Sting members of the Main Event Mafia, but they were just as bad. Mick says that the only person he can put his faith in is Sting. Mick says that Sting has realized that Kurt has been using him. Mick says that Sting will walk out of Destination X as the champion and Kurt’s reign of terror will be over. Mick says that if Kurt wants to fight someone, why not fight him since Jeff Jarrett is not here. Mick wants Kurt to take his best shot. Mick says that he wants the chance to Cactus Jack his (bleeped word).

Angle backs away from Foley and leaves the ring.

Sting enters and Cornette says that he has always treated him with respect during the 20 years they have known each other. Cornette asks Sting for a favor. He says that he has a locker room of wrestlers who are not getting matches and are not getting paid. Cornette says that the program cannot descend into chaos and dominate the show. Cornette tells Sting that they need to give someone a shot at the limelight. Cornette says that he will give him and Angle a chance at the spotlight. Cornette says that Sting and Angle will still be at ringside, but someone else will be a part of the party.

Sting wants to make sure that he can be in the ring with Kurt and Cornette tells him that they will be at ringside.

Jeremy asks Cornette why he is letting Sting and Angle at ringside. Cornette says that if you are going to have chaos, make sure that you can control it.

    Update van edge

     Injury news on edge

    – Edge is currently battling several nagging injuries, reports ProWrestling.net. He’s had problems with knee issues in the past and they may have flared up again. The severity of his current ailments are unknown. Edge has been working some house shows recently so whatever injuries he is battling aren’t bad enough to keep him on the road. That being said, he’s only been working tag matches at those house shows in order to keep his work load in the ring light.

Kizarny talks about his release from WWE

Kizarny talks about his release from WWE

Former WWE Superstar Kizarny (real name Nick Cvjetkovich) posted a blog on his MySpace account (www.myspace.com/theoriginalsinn) yesterday and he doesn't appear to be upset over being let go by World Wrestling Entertainment earlier in the week. He doesn't have plans to quit wrestling either.

"I just want to take a moment to thank the Rasslin Universe for your kind words and support for me both in the WWE and beyhond!!! I am not gonna complain or be bitter," Kizarny wrote. "I will simply prove myself even more as I am One of a Kind. Btw I wasn't kidding in my Feizirst Bleizog when I told you that I suck at technology, I almost threw my laptop from my porch into the waves of Wizard Beach because just as I had finished typing my Seizecond Bleizog I hit the wrong button and poof... GONE!!!"

Kizarny added that he's "too stupid and crazy to ever quit" the wrestling business and he's going continue to entertain the fans whether he's in a "SmackDown ring or not." Kizarny plans on taking indy bookings soon and taking "this rasslin-sideshow on the road."

MAAKT JBL EEN EIND AAN ZIJN CARRIERE??

    Top
WWE star retiring from wrestling soon?

    source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

WWE Intercontinental Champion John Bradshaw Layfield, 42, has been telling people backstage that he will likely be retiring from the ring by May. His back problems that caused him to originally retire in 2006 have resurfaced and his retirement from WWE appears imminent. Layfield is not listed in the May house show bookings that have been released.

As noted earlier, Layfield recently claimed he would be doing something historical that would shock the wrestling world at Wrestlemania XXV. Regarding his claim, it's been speculated that JBL will retire as the Intercontinental Champion, something nobody with the exception of Trish Stratus as WWE Women's Champion at the 2006 Unforgiven pay-per-view has ever done.

Update on DH Smith joining The Legacy

Update on DH Smith joining The Legacy

In an interview with the Between the Ropes radio show last night, WWE developmental wrestler DH Smith admitted he'd like to be part of Randy Orton's Legacy faction.

"There's a lot of talk about a lot of things," Smith said. "It's one of those things where you can't exactly believe everything you read on the internet... I think I'd be a perfect fit. I'm big, I'm strong, I've got the ability. I'm working at getting the personality. I've been getting a lot more confident and a lot more mean in the ring. Whether I'm with the Legacy or not, I can prove on any brand that I can carry my own legacy."

Smith also offered his comments on the New Hart Foundation not materializing in WWE.

"Nothing really happened," Smith said. "There was a slot for Tyson Kidd to go on ECW. He's a great wrestler. He's one of my great friends. He's gone up there. It wasn't one of those things that I decided... He's doing good. I hope he does really well with Natalya. Maybe I'll join him someday in ECW, who knows?"

Smith also commented on growing up as the son of "The British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith, being stretched by Stu Hart, his training, his weekly schedule in Florida Championship, and more.

Christian wins Tri-Branded Money in the Bank Qualifying Battle Royal

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Christian outshined 15 other Superstars in a massive battle royal with a pay-off of even grander proportions – an opportunity to compete at the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania.

Fans in Jacksonville were treated to a huge main event in the Land of Extreme, featuring Superstars from ECW, Raw and SmackDown*.

Early in the match – knowing the huge threat that The Great Khali posed – the ring full of Superstars worked together by piling their bodies against each other and pushing the Punjabi Giant up and out of the ring. And in a stunning betrayal, Cryme Tyme’s JTG eliminated his own partner, Shad.

In the end, though, it came down to a battle between Christian and Chavo Guerrero to determine who would be going to the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania. With both Superstars entangled in the ropes – engaged in a struggle for victory – it was Captain Charisma who prevailed, sending Guerrero to the arena floor. Christian now has an opportunity on the Grandest Stage of Them All in Houston, TX. (WrestleMania Money in the Bank Ladder Match preview)

Going undefeated in WWE is a tall order. However, Tyson Kidd kept his record intact with a well-targeted springboard elbow to DJ Gabriel from the top ropes. The win brings Kidd’s record to 4-0.

The dislike between WWE Tag Team Champion Primo and World Tag Team Champion The Miz was evident from the sound of the opening bell. The disdain was made even clearer as WWE Tag Team Champion Carlito and World Tag Team Champion John Morrison joined the ECW announce team to trade verbal barbs while helping call the match.

But, it was Primo’s Backstabber that abruptly stopped all the talking. The Miz’s loss was made even more bitter as Primo & Carlito sauntered away from the ring with the beautiful Bella Twins on their arms. This Friday on SmackDown, Miz & Morrison will have a chance at revenge. But, if WWE Tag Team Champions Carlito and Primo can pull off a win, they become Undisputed Tag Team Champions.

    UPDATE Danny Bonaduce

The stuff with Danny Bonaduce began last week, when Bonaduce had Kurt Angle on his radio show. Bonaduce and Angle were discussing the Lockdown PPV, and then Bonaduce challenged anyone from the Hulk Hogan Celebrity Wrestling show to face him at the Lockdown PPV. Bonaduce really wanted to face Dennis Rodman and claimed he would put up $10,000 of his own money to do so.

Kurt Angle then suggested if no one took up Bonaduce's challenge that he would find him a TNA star to wrestle on the show.
