SmackDown Diva Michelle McCool has been hospitalized for what she thought was general sickness and acute back pain. The decision to admit herself may have saved her life.
An ultra sound and other extensive tests revealed that McCool was suffering from an enlarged kidney and an electrolyte imbalance. The condition is severe enough that she has been hospitalized for over a week--including Thanksgiving, so far.
According to WWE Doctor Ferdinand Rios, had the condition been left untreated, McCool could have encountered other major health issues such as heart or kidney failure.
Her condition was complicated by an electrolyte imbalance; sometimes those cannot be corrected immediately, and due to lack of sodium [in her body] she needed a lot of intravenous fluids, said Rios.
During treatment McCool mentioned a singeing pain in her chest to her doctors.
Michelle most likely suffered a fractured sternum from one of her matches where she may have been kicked in the chest, explained Rios.
Rios said the support and well-wishing McCool has received from her family and WWE fans has helped keep her upbeat and headed down the road to recovery. Without further complications, she should be home in time for the upcoming holiday season.
Shes getting better and is getting stronger, and at this time is free from infection, Rios said. When I spoke to her she was in good spirits.
Roddy Piper diagnosed with cancer November 27, 2006
WWE Hall of Famer Rowdy Roddy Piper has been diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma. Also known as Hodgkins disease, Hodgkins lymphoma is a form of cancer found in the bodys lymphatic tissue. The lymphatic system helps filter out bacteria and is important in fighting diseases.
Piper was sent home early from WWEs early-November tour of the United Kingdom and hospitalized for surgery, where doctors removed a mass at the spinal cord with an enlarged lymph node. The mass was completely removed, but the lymph node was positive for Hodgkins lymphoma.
Radiation therapy is used to treat Hodgkins lymphoma; it is an extremely successful procedure, so the prognosis is very good for Piper.

Superstars headline Tribute press conference at the Garden

The WWE Superstars joined various members of the armed forces at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday for the Tribute to the Troops press conference. The event, which was attended by WWE fans and members of the media, kicked off WWEs annual holiday visit to the United States military stationed in the Middle East.
Art Meyers, who serves as Director of Armed Forces Entertainment and will guide WWE on their journey, outlined the Superstars itinerary, and was quick to point out that they will receive no special treatment along the way.
The Superstars will stop at 25 sights throughout the war zone, said Meyers. During their visit, they will receive the same treatment as each and every one of our troops would receive. They will sleep on floors and cots, and eat MREs.
Following Meyers address, Raws Torrie Wilson and Carlito took to the podium to give a performers point of view. The Superstars echoed the sentiments of many in describing how excited they were to once again be visiting the troops.
Its a huge honor for me, and everyone involved to be able to go back, said Wilson. This trip always provides us with some great memories.
These troops are so brave, continued Carlito. This is such a special trip for us. Im looking forward to going over there. Its going to be a very cool trip.
Raw ring announcer Lilian Garcia was overcome with emotion when describing what it was like to sing the national anthem for the troops.
I get to perform the Star Spangled Banner all over the country, said a teary-eyed Lilian. But with all that our troops do for us, it just means so much more for me to perform it for them.
ECWs newest Extremist, the hard hitting Lashley, comes from a military family, and served there years in the army prior to his transition to the world of sports-entertainment. Lashley spoke about a special gift that the Superstars will be delivering to the troops along the way.
This is more than an honor for us to be headed to Iraq, said Lashley. As a gift from us, we will be delivering XBoxes to troops at each stop on our visit. With the XBox, the troops can connect with their families, and speak to them while playing different video games.
The press conference wrapped up with a special message from WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.
Many people think that WrestleMania is our biggest event, said a serious McMahon. But what we do in Iraq, meeting these troops and hearing their stories, this means more to us than WrestleMania.
The special Raw Tribute to the Troops from Iraq will air on Christmas night at 9pm ET on the USA Network.
After a remorseless attack upon Mickie James on Raw, Womens Champion Lita both surprised and appalled WWE and its fans by announcing her retirement from sports-entertainment. Callously addressing the Baltimore crowd in the 1st Mariner Arena and those watching at home, Lita essentially told the world that she was done with WWE.
I was debating about retiring for a quite a while, Lita told WWE.com following her announcement. But, Ive made my decision and made it official tonight on Raw with the WWE fans.
With her opponent defeated, Lita made the bombshell declaration that her final match will take place at Survivor Series in her title defense against Mickie. According to Lita, Sunday couldnt come any sooner.
Im sick and tired of not being respected for the contributions Ive made in the past and also every week on Raw, said the Womens Champion. The [other Superstars and Divas] in the locker room turned their back on me when I wasnt the cool person to like.
Seven years a WWE Diva, Litas current Womens Championship reign is her fourth. If all goes accordingly, Lita will leave WWE as the unseated champion, trumping her long-time rival Trish Stratus, who retired as champion in September.
Id love to say thanks to my fans that were with me since day one and are still there today, she said. Ive got nothing for fair-weather fans that were with me at one time, but because I make a personal decision they dont approve of, they decide to turn their back on me.
The Womens Champion has not yet devised any post-retirement plans. Lita is looking forward to making history on Sunday in Philadelphia. Only afterwards will she consider her post-WWE years.
I am going to figure out what Im going to do the day after Survivor Series, added Lita. But, Im sure I wont be thinking of the other Superstars, Divas or WWE fans when Im kicking my feet up and not working.
Following Rowdy Roddy Pipers hospitalization on Friday, WWE.com contacted sources close to the WWE Hall of Famer to get an update on his condition. WWE.com was told that the former Intercontinental and World Tag Team Champion was resting comfortably in his home state of Oregon.

Formerly known as Team Xtreme, Jeff and Matt Hardy have never appeared on ECW, but have long been proponents of the extreme style. Team Xtreme has not competed as a team in nearly five years, making the possibility of a reformation on Tuesday night as appealing as ever.

A dramatic split in 2002 tore the brothers apart, leaving WWE fans distraught at the possibility of the end of a dynasty. The Hardys have a great reputation as one of the most extreme tag teams of all time, exclaimed Heyman. They are unquestionably one of the most popular teams in WWE history. Much like ECWs resurrection by popular demand in 2005, people have been clamoring for a Hardy Boyz reunion for five years. Its time for the Hardy Boyz to not only team up again, but to do it in the biggest way possible a reunion of Team Xtreme and their ECW debut, all rolled up into one.
