Wife of former WWE manager Paul Bearer dies Posted by Randy Gordon on 02/02/2009 at 12:59 AM
Dianna Moody, wife of former WWE manager Paul Bearer, passed away in her sleep on Sunday.
The former WWE manager released a statement regarding her passing on the Gulf Coast Wrestling Message Board this evening. Here is his message:
Dianna
Thank you all so much.
Many know that Dianne was a two time breast cancer survivor; however her lasting issues from the invasive chemo and radiation, and numerous other health problems took her from us.
I was blessed to have 30-years of marriage with her, and believe me, 30 years with me would make anybody a saint. The Pringle/Moody Family will never be the same as she was indeed the backbone for us all.
Mike Knox qualified for the World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber Match at No Way Out at a house show event held in Cape Girardeau, Missouri earlier today. Knox outlasted Shad, JTG, Dolph Ziggler, Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes in a Six-Man Battle Royal Qualifying Match. Knox booted Shad in the face to secure the victory. Knox joins John Cena, Chris Jericho, Kofi Kingston and Rey Mysterio in the match.
KOCH, the WWE's Canadian DVD distributor is listing a 3 DVD Randy Savage WWE set titled "Macho Madness" for release on 6/9. WWE had previously pulled a set by that title scheduled for last year, but it would appear (for now anyway) that the title is now on again.
WWE.com has confirmed that actor Mickey Rourke will not be participating in a match at this year's Wrestlemania. The statement on WWE.com reads, "Shortly after Jericho interrupted the star's appearance on Larry King Live, a publicist for Rourke, an Oscar nominee for his role as Randy The Ram Robinson, wrote an e-mail to the media that stated he will not be participating in WrestleMania. He is focusing entirely on his acting career.
As conjecture continues to swirl, WWE.com has learned that while Rourke will not be participating in the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania in Houston on April 5, WWE has, in fact, invited the actor to the event and looks forward to his attendance as a guest of the company."

INDIANAPOLIS The struggle for the WWE Championship hits Friday night at full force. As new WWE Champion Edge returned to SmackDown, three Elimination Chamber Qualifying Matches were held to determine who will join the Rated-R Superstar at No Way Out on the Road to WrestleMania XXV. But, despite the exciting quest for the gold, the dominating thought of the WWE Universe seemed to be simply, Why Matt? Why?
Matt Hardy washes his hands of Jeff Hardy and the WWE Universe (WATCH | PHOTOS) A very embittered Matt Hardy appeared before the WWE Universe - chair in hand - to offer no remorse about smashing his brother Jeff in the head at the Royal Rumble and costing him the WWE Championship in the process. Although he stated it could not be proven that he caused any of Jeffs other misfortunes over the past several months, he made it clear that attacking Jeff was no accident. Matt proceeded to blame Jeffs irresponsible nature and the WWE Universes inability to like him as much as his brother. He then informed the WWE Universe that he no longer considers Jeff Hardy a partner or a sibling.
Triple H def. The Great Khali & Vladimir Kozlov (Triple Threat Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match) (WATCH | PHOTOS) With the odds once again stacked against The Game in a Triple Threat Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match, the 12-time World Champion reigned supreme over both Vladimir Kozlov & The Great Khali. After pulling the top rope down to send the Moscow Mauler flying from the ring, The King of Kings hit The Great Khali with the Pedigree and snatched his qualifying triumph.
WWE Champion Edges celebration is interrupted (PHOTOS); Big Show def. Festus (WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match) (WATCH | PHOTOS) Moments after Edge rubbed the WWE Universes nose in the fact that he wasnt the one who had caused all the recent misfortunes to Jeff Hardy over the past several months and about returning to SmackDown the seven-time WWE Champion, Big Show decided to interrupt. The Worlds Largest Athlete delivered a loving bear hug to Edges wife as well as more than a passing glance at the Rated-R Superstars newly acquired gold.
This preceded Big Shows impressive victory over Festus, defeating the Corn-fed Colossus with the knockout punch while putting himself in the Elimination Chamber at No Way Out. After the match, Big Shows wrath expanded to Jesse, who suffered a chokeslam for no other reason than being there.
Undertaker def. Mark Henry (WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match) (WATCH | PHOTOS) At the height of a grueling match with the Worlds Strongest Man, The Phenom triumphed over Mark Henry with the dreaded Hells Gate, granting himself clear passage into the Elimination Chamber at No Way Out.
Umaga def. Jimmy Wang Yang (PHOTOS) Umaga made his highly anticipated return to the squared-circle with a renewed intensity, finishing off his slaughter of Jimmy Wang Yang with the Samoan Spike. The Samoan Bulldozer has officially served notice that he plans to pick up where he left off.
MVP def. Chavo Guerrero (PHOTOS) After breaking his 20-week losing streak against Big Show in a Last Man Standing Match two weeks ago, MVP extended his victorious run to two in a row, defeating Chavo Guerrero with the full impact of the Drive-by Kick. Afterward, the reinvigorated Ballin Superstar informed Tazz that things are poppin once more, and he is setting his sights on getting his United States Championship back.

TNA sent out the following press release this afternoon touting their latest publicity stunt:
Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich offered job as Chairman of TNA Wrestlings Main Event Mafia
TNA Wrestling is offering the newly created position of Chairman for its Main Event Mafia faction - and the opportunity to openly sell chairs, steel chairs - to ousted Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich.
TNA officials confirmed today that Blagojevich, who was impeached by the Illinois House of Representatives on January 29, is being offered the Chairman job within its Main Event Mafia faction, an elite unit which includes U.S. Olympic Gold Medal winner Kurt Angle, former World Heavyweight Champions Kevin Nash, Booker T., and Scott Steiner, and reigning TNA Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion Sting.
Blagojevich was arrested on criminal charges on December 9, 2008, for conspiring to sell the senate seat vacated by then-President Elect Barack Obama to the highest bidder, but Angle truly believes in the U.S. justice system.
Hes innocent until proven guilty, Angle said. As the leader of the Main Event Mafia, I am a huge fan of the Illinois style of politics. As such, Governor Blagojevich is welcome to join me and the entire Main Event Mafia at any and all TNA events in the future, and certainly is welcome to sell his seat with us should he choose not to accept our generous offer.
Blagojevich is a former amateur boxer, so Angle is convinced Blagojevich, easily will be able to handle the transition to pro wrestling, Angle said.
The Illinois House of Representatives voted in favor of impeachment by an astounding margin of 114-1. Only 60 votes were needed to push the impeachment forward. The single dissenting vote came from Democratic State Representative Milton Patterson, who represents the Southwest side of Chicago.

SLAM! Wrestling conducted an interview with former WWE Women's Champion Trish Stratus at an autograph signing this past Tuesday in downtown Toronto. Stratus was signing copies of Inside Fitness magazine and wrestling memorabilia for her loyal fans.
Stratus discussed her one-off appearance on Raw last month. She said she practiced her "Matrix" move "at least 40 times" prior to the show (which she used against opponent Santino Marella) to make sure she could still do it. Stratus also said it would be hard to pass off wrestling at WrestleMania 25. Stratus said she had not been contacted about appearing, but left the impression that something could come together in the future.
"I would definitely like the chance to finish off what I started with Beth in a one-on-one scenario," Stratus said. "No tagging out, no Santino shenanigans, just one dominant female against the other."
Stratus also said she wouldn't mind wrestling another WWE Diva in Natalya.
"Nattie I think is going to be a major player soon, given the right chance to do what she does best," Stratus said. "Everyone knows how much I respect the Hart lineage, using Bret's sharpshooter in my retirement match, wearing the pink and black boots in Toronto ... it's not a coincidence. So I would be honoured to face someone who is a part of that legacy and I have no doubt in my mind that we could blow away an audience."
Stratus also wanted fans to know that she does not have a page on Facebook as there are a number of pages impersonating her on the social networking site. However, she does indeed have a page on MySpace.com.
"It would be great to clear up that I can be found on MySpace only. I am not on Facebook. That way no one is duped into thinking they are communicating with me when they are not," Stratus said to make things clear.
-- Former TNA Superstar Johnny Devine was backstage at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, and according to SLAM! Wrestling, at Monday's RAW in Cleveland as well. Devine was also backstage at the RAW in Toronto a few weeks ago. There has been talk between both sides.
It has been confirmed that Ricky Steamboat will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year. He will be inducted by Ric Flair.
Steamboat and Ted DiBiase got a lot of votes for last year's internal election regarding the WWE Hall of Fame. Vince McMahon takes the candidates with the most votes under consideration but makes all the picks in the end. The two wrestling legends weren't snubbed last year, but Vince knows he can't put all the best candidates in at once, so they are spread out over years.
In the latest update on the official website of Batista, www.Demon-Wrestling.com, his people are saying he won't be cleared to return to the ring from injury for five or six months. WWE still had hopes for Batista to wrestle at WrestleMania, but that's off the cards now. Here is his website 's statement:
Dave's recovery is going very well. He's in the gym twice a day but being very cautious.
Looking forward to coming back as soon as he's able.
Doubtful he'll be cleared before 5-6 months but he'll be back stronger and better than ever.
WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair recently spoke to The Houston Chronicle about a possible Wrestlemania 25 appearance and he issued the following statement: "Lets just say, I will be at WrestleMania, and thats all Im saying."

CLEVELAND - The fallout from Royal Rumble carried over into the Land of Extreme - and across the skull of its champion. (WATCH)
On ECW on Sci Fi, the WWE Universe learned the shocking news that former ECW Champion Matt Hardy will move to SmackDown, while current title holder, Jack Swagger, found the weight of the gold a heavier burden to carry than he may have anticipated.
Matt Hardy moves to SmackDown (PHOTOS) ECW General Manager Theodore Long kicked off ECW by dropping bombshell news that former ECW Champion Matt Hardy will become part of SmackDown. The move comes after Hardy's stunning betrayal of his own brother, former WWE Champion Jeff Hardy, at Royal Rumble. (Royal Rumble Photos | Full story). According to Long, Hardy asked for his release and the GM OK'd the move to Friday nights.
Finlay knocks out Swagger (WATCH | PHOTOS) The new face of the franchise, ECW Champion Jack Swagger, planned to celebrate his successful Royal Rumble title defense against Matt Hardy (Royal Rumble Photos | Full story) on ECW. But, Swagger's celebration was only missing one thing - his own title. Swagger and ECW Assistant GM Tiffany tried to uncover who may have taken the title, but had no luck until Finlay revealed it was a mischievous Hornswoggle who took it. When Hornswoggle tried to give Swagger back his title - at his father, Finlay's urging - he was viciously shoved to the canvas by the champion. An enraged Belfast Brawler retaliated, knocking Swagger out with his own title.
Finlay def. Paul Burchill (PHOTOS) Before Finlay crashed Swagger's party, he took on Paul Burchill in singles competition. After an impressive Royal Rumble Match performance - lasting almost 30 minutes and longer than any other ECW Superstar - Finlay was looking to carry that momentum to the Land of the Extreme. The Fighting Irishman did just that, taking care of business against Burchill with a powerful Celtic Cross.
Mark Henry def. Tommy Dreamer (PHOTOS) Tommy Dreamer has set a lofty goal for himself - win the ECW Championship by June 6. The ECW Original is not backing down from any challenge as he pursues his goal, including 393-pound World's Strongest Man Mark Henry. Despite Dreamer's ambition, he proved no match for the World's Strongest Slam.
The Boogeyman vs. Ricky Ortiz (No Contest) (WATCH) (PHOTOS) This one was over before it started. As Ortiz entered the ring, he was attacked and driven out of the ring by his opponent from the Bottomless Pit. Ortiz never re-entered the ring, instead choosing to back away and exit up the ramp. One has to wonder if Ortiz knew his wormy fate and opted for a much cleaner way to end the encounter?
After the cameras went off and RAW aired last night, Shane McMahon walked around looking for Orton and then went backstage. Stephanie walked up the ramp giving her brother a round of applause.
Then we had the special dark match they had been advertising since before the tickets went on sale - Cena and Y2J in a street fight. It was a good match that lasted about 10 minutes. Y2J was in control for most of the match, getting several near falls on Cena. Y2J was great - he really played to the crowd in the role of sarcastic heel (Ex: he jumped on the announce table and did the Hogan ear thing when the crowd was chanting for Cena and later, after failing to throw the ring steps into the ring the first time stood on the ropes and taunted the crowd with muscle flex poses). Great stuff. In my opinion, WWE is missing the boat not letting him do this kind of thing more often. Finally, after a few more near falls, Y2J went after Cena with chair, Cena blocked it and manged to hit the FU for the pin. Y2J left the ring as Cena posed for a while, sending the crowd home happy.

CLEVELAND - At the 2009 Royal Rumble, Randy Orton defeated 29 other Superstars to earn the right to compete in the main event of WrestleMania XXV. Unfortunately for the Legend Killer however, just one day later, Monday Night Raw was not the site of a celebration. Rather, as other top ring warriors fought for a spot in the World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber at No Way Out, Orton waited in suspense to see what, if any, actions were taken in retaliation for his vicious assault on Mr. McMahon the week prior.
But what actually ensued was something no one expected: The Chairmans son, Shane McMahon emerging and brutally attacking the Legend Killer.
Stephanie McMahon did not fire Randy Orton, but her brother Shane emerged and attacked the Legend Killer At the close of the show, Stephanie McMahon entered the ring, expressing her desire to speak to Randy Orton face-to-face. Accompanied by his therapist, two lawyers, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase, the 2009 Royal Rumble winner made his entrance, reiterating the consequences waiting for Stephanie if she was to fire him: Two costly lawsuits being filed against WWE as well as DiBiase and Rhodes walking. The Legend Killer went even further, threatening to file an injunction to stop WrestleMania, the event at which he is guaranteed a World Title Match.
After daring Stephanie McMahon to fire him, the Raw General Manager announced that they had other plans for the arrogant third-generation competitor even beyond the Superstars that engulfed the ring. With that, Stephanies brother Shane McMahon made his entrance, and attacked Orton with such ferocity that it took the entire Raw roster to restrain him, with a few Superstars taking some licks for their troubles.
Chris Jericho def. Intercontinental Champion CM Punk in an Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match Though he just recently won the Intercontinental Title in his hometown of Chicago, that didnt stop CM Punk from wanting more, which is why he competed against Chris Jericho in an Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match. The Straightedge Champion fell to Jericho, who earned himself a spot in the contest and chance to regain the World Heavyweight Title.
Rey Mysterio def. William Regal in an Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match In another one of Raws Elimination Qualifying Matches, Rey Mysterio took on William Regal. The two were competing for an opportunity to enter the World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber Match at No Way Out, to which Kofi Kingston had already earned entry earlier in the night. In spite of the British Brawlers size advantage and bruising fighting style, the Ultimate Underdog persevered, defeating the 2008 King of the Ring to earn the second spot in Raws massive steel Elimination Chamber.
Beth Phoenix & Jillian def. Womens Champion Melina & Kelly Kelly As her beau, Santino Marella, watched from the announcers table, Beth Phoenix had an opportunity to win back some of her pride, if not the Womens Title, when she and Jillian took on the team of Kelly Kelly & new Womens Champion Melina, who won the gold from The Glamazon the night before at the Royal Rumble. As the Divas squared off in the ring, Phoenixs No. 1 crazed fan, Rosa Mendes again made her presence known by pulling Melina off the ring apron. Mendes involvement gave Phoenix just the opening she needed to pin Kelly Kelly and win the match.
Later, in the locker room area, Rosa Mendes was all aflutter talking to Santino Marella about her involvement in the tag bout. The two were interrupted by Beth Phoenix herself, who told the Italian Superstar that they could keep the enthusiastic Mendes, who had been angling for a position assisting her favorite dominant Diva.
World Heavyweight Champion John Cena def. Shawn Michaels, preventing JBL from qualifying for the Elimination Chamber Match As detailed by JBL earlier in the night, his employee, Shawn Michaels, was set to compete against World Heavyweight Champion John Cena, whom HBK defeated just two weeks before. If Michaels pulled out a win over The Champ, he would earn his boss an opportunity to compete for the World Heavyweight Title inside the Elimination Chamber at No Way Out. Though The Showstopper had the advantage of the self-proclaimed wrestling god being in his corner, he ultimately fell victim to Cenas intensity, failing to earn his employer one of the coveted No Way Out spots.
Chris Jericho called out The Wrestlers Mickey Rourke Chris Jericho then took to the ring, and introduced a video showcasing Superstars reactions to The Wrestler as well as the films Oscar-nominated star, Mickey Rourke, making an allusion to fighting the first-ever Undisputed Champion himself at WrestleMania. The simmering Superstar then assured Rourke and WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair (who Jericho accused of putting the WrestleMania bug in the thespians ear) that the last thing they want to do is to offend Chris Jericho.
Kofi Kingston def. Kane in an Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match; Chris Jericho called out Mickey Rourke Over the next two weeks, Raw will be hosting Elimination Chamber Qualifying Matches to determine which five Superstars will have an opportunity to step into the massive steel structure and compete against the World Heavyweight Champion for the title at No Way Out. The first of these contests saw Kofi Kingston take on the massive Kane. In spite of the huge size and power imbalance, the athletic Jamaican Superstar was on the fortunate side of a huge upset, defeating the Big Red Monster and earning the first spot in Raws Elimination Chamber.
World Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison def. Cryme Tyme Just one week prior, Cryme Tyme had earned themselves a title opportunity by defeating reigning World Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison. The Word Up duo had their chance to grasp championship gold on Raw, but were denied by the self-proclaimed chick magnet and the Shaman of Sexy, who successfully defended their coveted titles.
Randy Orton revealed that he has a serious mental condition and threatened to sue WWE Randy Orton opened Raw, flanked by the members of his Legacy, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase, as well as two lawyers and a therapist. The winner of the 2009 Royal Rumble revealed that he suffers from IED, Intermittent Explosive Disorder, a mental condition that causes him to experience violent outbursts when provoked, losing all control of his emotions and actions. According to Orton and his therapist, WWE knew of the condition, and if fired, the Legend Killer plans on not only taking Rhodes and DiBiase with him, but also on bringing a lawsuit against the company.
The leader of Legacy then detailed his plans for a second lawsuit, suing for breach of contract if he is not granted the opportunity to compete in the main event of WrestleMania XXV, an honor he earned by defeating 29 other Superstars in the Royal Rumble Match the night before. Before leaving with Rhodes, DiBiase, his therapist and his lawyers, Orton issued a prepared, half-hearted apology to Mr. McMahon, his family and the WWE Universe.
