Scott Steiner is said to be in pretty rough shape, but then again he has been that way since the final year of WCW. There was a point in time where he would warm up for a full hour before going out for a match, and another time when after a 10 minute match he couldn't pick up a napkin he dropped in a hotel, but when he finally did manage to get down on one knee to pick it up he grabbed his back and had to lie down on a couch to relieve the pain. Steiners days in the ring may be numbed, as he had made it clear to friends he has no interest in appearing on camera if he looks feeble or injured. He was once working through back pain so bad that he couldnt do any flat-back bumps and had to fall to his side or to his knees, and explain later to the wrestlers that he wasnt trying to no-sell their moves but he simply couldnt do the back bumps.
Steiner is said to be pretty hard on himself, and most of the locker room feels bad for him at times despite his reputation as an absolute lunatic who has threatened peoples lives over booking decisions. In WCW, Jeff Jarrett was always known as the guy who could keep Scott under control and calm him down.
Says one fellow wrestler regarding Scotts health: "He can't bend over and tie his shoe because of his lower back pain. His stretching routine before matches is barbaric just so he has the mobility to get through a match because he's wound so tight. His back is so bad watching him go through a 12 step process to sit in a car seat is excruciating. It's so not a secret that his back causes him tremendous pain and is an overwhelming concern in his life every day"
Friends continue to encourage Steiner to back off on his muscle-mass, but Steiner continues to be stubborn and prioritize being as big as possible over all else. He never misses a work out and fans said they saw him at a gym in Hawaii while he was there on his honeymoon. Steiner is still financially set from his WCW days and real estate ventures with his brother, but there is tremendous pressure for him to retire due to his physical condition. With so many TNA wrestlers on the shelf, the loss of Steiner would be a major blow to the company.
- Rey Mysterio and John Laurinaitis have agreed to all terms on a new WWE contract, but we don't know if it's on paper and officially signed yet. Internal speculation is that Rey has agreed to terms on a three-year deal with a two-year option. Rey's current contract with WWE expires shortly and would have been done already but it was extended due to him being out of action for a lengthy period with injuries as the standard WWE contract allows them to extend the time frame on the deal if the talent is out for a long period of time.
To update Kevin Nash's health status, he had his elbow lanced yesterday due to the bad staph infection he's suffered over the weekend. He is on heavy antibiotics and doctors are still awaiting test results. While TNA said the infection was suffered while overseas, PWInsider.com reports that sources have indicated the infection may have been caused by some recent tattoo he had done. There is still a lot of concern for Nash's health.
-- Robert Roode suffered an ankle injury during the three-way tag title match at last night's pay-per-view. No word yet on how long he will be out of action. Roode & partner James Storm regained the TNA World Tag Team Championships from Consequences Creed & Jay Lethal at last night's show.
-- As reported yesterday, Kevin Nash has a staph infection in the elbow and was hospitalized as a result. In an update on the situation, he is undergoing elbow surgery today. No word yet on how long he'll be out.
Sting was in a lot of pain before and after last night's TNA Genesis pay-per-view, reports prowrestling.net. Sting recently underwent knee surgery and is having a hard time moving around. TNA did an injury angle with Rhino so Sting could have a simple match with him. It's been speculated that Sting's ongoing knee problems will make this year his last year in wrestling. His current contract with TNA expires late this year.

The All-American American threw Hardy forehead-first into an exposed turnbuckle and quickly landed the gutwrench powerbomb to pin Hardy for the win.

Former TNA Knockout and WWE Diva Gail Kim, who is waiting to start again with WWE as part of the SmackDown brand, posted the following on her official websites forum:
I know everyone is becoming so impatient when it comes to knowing when im going to start wrestling again .all I can say is to be patient. I will hopefully make it all worth the wait when I finally return to the ring at least i will try my hardest to!
It appears that WWE is working towards referee Scott Armstrong working with Randy Orton and his Legacy group. On tonights RAW, Armstrong counted to three in Ortons match with Kane when it clearly was a two count, as shown on the replays. Armstrong, who would be considered second generation, walked away from the ring like nothing had happened, ignoring Kanes pleas.
Maybe theyre doing something with Orton, Rhodes and Manu employing the services of the second generation referee. Armstrong is the older son of Bob Armstrong and the brother of Brad, Steve and Brian (BG James in TNA). Armstrong has wrestled over the years but has refereed for WWE since 2006, after having stints with WCW and TNA.
Shawn Michaels def. World Heavyweight Champion John Cena (non-title match) Melina & Kelly Kelly vs. Womens Champion Beth Phoenix & Jillian ended in a no contest Randy Orton def. Kane Intercontinental Champion William Regal def. CM Punk by disqualification Rey Mysterio def. World Tag Team Champion The Miz
SIOUX CITY, Iowa - With less than two weeks to go before the Royal Rumble, and Mr. McMahon making his heralded return next week, the WWE Universe may have expected this weeks Raw to provide a breather before things hit the fan. But they were shocked numerous times as Ted DiBiase made a surprise return, Rosa Mendes again attacked Melina and Stephanie McMahon, fed up with the condescending Superstar, fired Chris Jericho. Perhaps the biggest moment, however, was when Shawn Michaels stopped the show with his defeat of World Heavyweight Champion John Cena, on HBKs WrestleMania night.
Shawn Michaels def. World Heavyweight Champion John Cena with JBL's distraction (WATCH | PHOTOS) In the nights main event, Shawn Michaels competed in a non-title match against World Heavyweight Champion John Cena, as JBL looked on from HBKs corner. The Longhorn Loudmouth currently holds Michaels in his employ and hoped to watch as The Showstopper softened up The Champ prior to his title defense against JBL at the Royal Rumble. Though HBK was eager to show the WWE Universe that he was still the same Superstar, he wasnt given an opportunity to win the fight cleanly, as JBL both pushed the rope toward Michaels to break up a pin, and caused a distraction for The Champ, allowing his employee to pick up the win with some Sweet Chin Music in a contest that the self-proclaimed wrestling god declared HBKs WrestleMania.
Melina & Kelly Kelly vs. Womens Champion Beth Phoenix & Jillian ended in a no contest after Rosa Mendes attack on Melina; Ted DiBiase, Cody Rhodes & Santino Marella announced as Royal Rumble participants (WATCH | PHOTOS) Prior to her match, Melina was attacked before she could even make it to the ring to join her partner, Kelly Kelly. WWE Champion Beth Phoenixs crazed No. 1 fan, Rosa Mendes, had disguised herself as one of Melinas paparazzi, and assaulted the red-carpet Diva on the entrance ramp. Kelly Kelly went to assist her tag partner as security escorted Mendes (who had been banned by Stephanie McMahon one week prior) out of the arena, but The Glamazon & Jillian took advantage of the situation to attack Phoenixs Royal Rumble opponent Melina as well as Kelly.
Meanwhile, in the locker room area, Randy Orton, Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes celebrated the earlier beating they administered to Manu & Sim Snuka. After DiBiase reconciled with Orton, the three revealed that both DiBiase and Rhodes will participate in the Royal Rumble and began to make plans. Elsewhere, Santino Marella left a meeting with Stephanie McMahon, elated that he will also be competing in the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match.
Randy Orton def. Kane; Ted DiBiase, Manu & Sim Snuka attacked Orton & Cody Rhodes, but DiBiase turned on his associates (WATCH | PHOTOS) Attempting to exact vengeance on Randy Orton for his one-night liaison with Kelly Kelly, Kane took on the Legend Killer one-on-one. Orton managed to just barely squeak out a win over the Big Red Monster, as the referee failed to notice that Kane had raised his shoulder just prior to the three-count. Orton and his associate Cody Rhodes celebration didnt last long however, as they were interrupted by Manu and Snuka, bitter over being kicked out of Ortons Legacy. The two then revealed their back-up, the second-generation Superstar they had earlier alluded to, Ted DiBiase. The three dove into the ring for a stand-off with Orton & Rhodes. To Manu & Snukas dismay, however, DiBiase turned on them, and joined Orton & Rhodes in brutalizing the excommunicated second-generation Superstars.
Manu & Sim Snuka plan to attack Randy Orton As Cody Rhodes conversed with Mickie James in the locker room area, he was approached by his former associates, Manu & Sim Snuka. Upset about being booted from Randy Ortons new group, Manu & Snuka informed Rhodes of their plan to attack the Legend Killer later in the night. The two also gave Rhodes a chance to join them and the other, mysterious second-generation Superstar they brought with them.
Intercontinental Champion William Regal def. CM Punk by disqualification (PHOTOS) One week prior, during an Intercontinental Championship Match, William Regal lost to CM Punk due to a disqualification, allowing him to retain the title. After the contest, Stephanie McMahon decreed that the two would have another match the following week, but if Regal again lost by disqualification, the title would be awarded to the Straightedge Superstar. The two faced again in Sioux City, Iowa, but this time it was Punk who was disqualified, rendering William Regal the winner, and still Intercontinental Champion.
Later, as the Intercontinental Champion was celebrating his win with the lovely Layla, he was approached by Stephanie McMahon. The Executive Vice President, stating that neither the audience nor herself were satisfied, again set another match between Punk and Regal, but to ensure that it has a definite finish, she made next weeks contest a No Disqualification Match.
Rey Mysterio def. World Tag Team Champion The Miz; Mike Knox attacked Mysterio (PHOTOS) On Raw, Rey Mysterio competed in a match against The Miz, who along with his fellow World Tag Team Champion, John Morrison, was announced as a participant in the Royal Rumble Match. The Master of the 619 hoped to gain revenge for he and Kofi Kingstons defeat last week at the hands of the Shaman of Sexy & the "Chick Magnet." The Ultimate Underdog got what he was looking for, but after the match was again attacked by the vicious Mike Knox. Utilizing his quickness, Mysterio was able to turn the attack around on the Desert Destroyer.
Stephanie McMahon fired Chris Jericho (WATCH | PHOTOS) Stephanie McMahon opened Raw by sharing her apparent excitement for Mr. McMahons return. Before she could get very far, however, the Executive Vice President was interrupted by Chris Jericho, who not only called Stephanie a liar, but intimated that the Chairman would replace JBL in the World Heavyweight Championship Match with Jericho at the Royal Rumble. After being told by Jericho that she cannot run Raw properly, the Executive Vice President attempted to place the first-ever Undisputed Champion in a match, in which he refused to participate. As a reaction to Jerichos insubordination, Stephanie McMahon barred the arrogant Superstar from competing in the Royal Rumble and promptly fired him, Jerichos second time being let go from WWE.

Jeff Jarrett was in a lot pain backstage following his match with Kurt Angle at last night's pay-per-view. The injury occurred when Angle suplexed Jarrett off the stage and overshot the table that was set up on the floor. Jarrett gutted out the pain and finished the match, but was in rough shape when he came through the curtain. Also, he was stretchered out of the ring for an angle and not due to the injury he suffered performing the spot.
As reported earlier, Kevin Nash missed last night's TNA Genesis pay-per-view due to a staph infection in his elbow. Officials didn't know for sure that Nash would be off the show until late in the afternoon. Officials were left scrambling and didn't have many options other than using Kip James as a replacement in the match. The usual jokes popped up backstage due to Nash's history of missing shows, but he had a legitimate medical issue.
During tonight's TNA Genesis Pay-Per-View, it was announced that Main Event Mafia star Kevin Nash would be unable to compete in his scheduled match because he was hospitalized earlier today.
For those wondering whether Nash's absense was part of a storyline or a legit injury - it's legit. Nash was hospitalized earlier today in Charlotte, North Carolina with a severe staph infection in his elbow. There is a lot of concern backstage at Genesis regarding Nash's condition and there is fear he may have blood poisoning.
Jim Ross posted another blog entry this afternoon on his official website. Here are the highlights:
Another John Cena finishing move name change: "John Cena's submission hold formerly known as the STFU is now going to be called the STF....that should stop the presses."

Results from the Pay-Per-View are as follows:
- In a bonus bout, the team of The Latin American Xchange and Eric Young won a six man tag team elimination match, beating Jimmy Rave, Kiyoshi and "The Guru" Sonjay Dutt. Hernandez last eliminated Jimmy Rave to win the bout.
- Alex Shelley became the new TNA Wrestling X Division champion, beating fellow Motor City Machineguns tag team partner Chris Sabin in an amazing tournament final. However, Shelley faked an ankle injury in order to get the quick pin, something that may not sit well with Sabin.
- In addition to Christy Hemme's injury, it was announced that Kevin Nash would be unable to compete tonight due to a staph infection. Also, Rhino hadn't arrived at the arena yet.
- Referee Shane Sewell beat Sheik Abdul Bashir after Earl Heber helped Sewell get the win. After the match, the other TNA officials celebrated with Sewell.
- Beer Money regained the TNA World Tag Team Championship in a three-way match over the teams of Jay Lethal & Consequences Creed and Abyss & Matt Morgan. Miscommunication by Morgan and Abyss (Abyss accidentally hit his partner with the TNA Tag Team Title) led to Robert Roode getting the win over Morgan in the end. Following the bout, Abyss and Morgan almost came to blows, but cooler heads prevailed.
- In the back, Kurt Angle admitted to Jim Cornette that the Main Event Mafia attacked Rhino earlier that day at the hotel. Rhino's whereabouts were still unknown.
- Due to a neck injury that will require surgery, Christy Hemme was unable to compete for the TNA Women's Championship. As a result, a Knockout Tag Team match was held with ODB, Roxxi and Taylor Wilde vs. Rhaka Khan, Raisha Saeed and Sojournor Bolt, with the winner earning a Women's Title shot. ODB ended up getting the pin on Saeed, thereby winning a shot at Kong's gold. After the bout, Kong came to the ring and joined the rest of her alliance in annihilating ODB, Roxxi and Taylor!
- In a bloody, violent, chaotic and emotional bout, Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle defeated TNA Founder Jeff Jarrett in their epic rematch, held under no disqualification rules. It was an all-out brawl, with Jarrett taking everything Angle could punish him with, including a steel chair and an Olympic Slam off the entrance ramp through a table! In the end, Jarrett (bloodied and barely able to walk) attempted to cover Angle, but the Olympian reversed it into a backslide for the win. After the bout, Angle continued to attack Jarrett and trapped his ankle in the steel chair while he stomped on it! Jarrett was taken from the ring on a stretcher by EMTs.
- In the TNA World Heavyweight Championship match, "The Icon" Sting successfully defended against a bloodied and battered Rhino, who had been attacked earlier in the day by members of The Main Event Mafia and was able to make it to the arena just before the bout. However, Rhino was beaten down by the champion, who eventually got the win with the Scorpion Deathdrop to retain the gold!
-In the main event, TNA Executive Shareholder Mick Foley made his successful in-ring return by teaming with AJ Styles and Brother Devon to defeat Scott Steiner, Booker T and Kip James (subbing for Kevin Nash). Foley got the win in the bout, beating Scott Steiner in the end. At one point, the referee stopped the match and ordered a double-countout, but Mick Foley restarted it under hardcore rules! (via his power as Executive Shareholder).
Another match has been added to tonight's TNA Genesis PPV: Eric Young & Shark Boy & LAX (Homicide & Hernandez) vs. Cute Kip & Kiyoshi & Rock & Rave Infection (Jimmy Rave & Lance Hoyt) in an 8 Man Elimination.
- WWE SmackDown Diva Eve Torres wrestled her first match at a WWE live event on Friday night at the show in Hot Springs, Arkansas. In what would be considered by most an upset, Eve defeated Natalya Neidhart in a match where Kung Fu Naki was the special referee. Weve been posting over the past few months how Eve was training harder to perform her in-ring skills.
