TNA iMPACT! RESULTS FOR JULY 31, 2008
    By Charles Rice

With Hard Justice quickly bearing down on the stars of Total Nonstop Action (TNA), it was another eventful night in the iMPACT! Zone.  To start the night off it was TNA’s newest tag team, Beer Money taking on the “Instant Classic” Christian Cage and Rhino in a number one contenders match for the TNA Tag Team titles. In a match that went back and forth, it appeared as if neither team had the upper hand. That was of course until Team 3D and their running buddy Johnny Devine interfered in the match, thus helping Beer Money pick up the win and become the new number one contenders for LAX’s tag team titles. Obviously this did not sit well with Cage or Rhino and they issued the challenge to Team 3D for a New Jersey Street Fight at Hard Justice.

Next up it was Curry Man, Shark Boy, and “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal, who was accompanied to the ring by So Cal Val, taking on Johnny Devine and The Rock N’ Rave Infection who were accompanied by Christy Hemme. In the end it was Lethal who picked up the win on Devine. This was because when Devine went to hit his patented Devine Intervention, Lethal reversed it and hit the Lethal Combination gaining the 1…2…3.

After the match, Lethal invited So Cal Val into the ring and was about to ask her to marry him again when he noticed that her wedding ring was missing. Obviously upset, he demanded to know where it was and when she claimed she had lost it he stormed off in anger. On his way out Lethal made it clear that he felt Val had never intended to marry him. One can only imagine that somewhere Sonjay Dutt was watching this with a smile plastered on his face. But will he be smiling after he and Jay have their Tuxedo Brawl and Chain match at Hard Justice?

In the back Jeremy Borash is talking with CMT interviewer Lance Smith when Super Eric comes and says that he, Shark Boy, and Curry Man are going to find Val’s missing wedding ring and save the day.

After a commercial break JB is in the back interviewing the TNA World Heavyweight Champion who is obviously upset about all that has transpired as of late. He said that he wanted Booker and that he should bring Sting too because he was going to take them both out.

After a video airs showing the history between Joe and Booker we see Kevin Nash in the back trying to calm Joe down. He tells him that he has his back but that Joe need’s to have a plan.

Back in the ring Booker is standing the in middle of the Six Sides of Steel filled with Weapons and invites Joe out to the ring. After Joe tells Booker he is going to beat him down if he comes in there, he finally goes in the ring as Nash comes down and blocks the door. From there, Joe proceeds to produce a weapon and starts whaling on Booker. Having seen enough, Sharmell comes running down to try and save her husband but it is to no avail. That is because Nash will not let her in the ring. He finally carries her off and this gives Booker just the opening he needed. With Joe’s back turned, a black bat is sent down into the ring and Booker uses it to lay Joe out.

When iMPACT! returns from a commercial break, AJ Styles is standing in the ring demanding to know what is going on with “The Icon” Sting. He said he has always believed in Sting but know he thinks he is a coward. With that the lights go out while Sting’s music plays. When the lights come back on Kurt Angle is standing in the ring and proceeds to Olympic Slam AJ three consecutive times.

In the back JB is in the “Beautiful People’s “ locker room where they are being confronted by Shark Boy and Curry Man about stealing Val’s ring. After telling off the two masked stars of TNA, they tell JB that they are going to beat Gail Kim and Taylor Wilde tonight. They then talk to each other about a certain “she” who will be ready but refuse to say who it is.

In a non title bought, TNA X-Division Champion, Petey Williams, lost to TNA new comer, Consequences Creed. This of course did not go unnoticed by TNA management Jim Cornette.  At Hard Justice it will now be Creed taking on Williams for the X-Division Title.

In the back we see LAX now being confronted by Shark Boy and Curry Man about stealing the ring only to be told off by Homicide.

After another commercial break, AJ is in the back talking with Lauren and says that when Sting does come out of hiding he is going to be the first to find him. He then goes on to challenge Kurt Angle to a Last Man standing match live on Pay-Per-View at Hard Justice.

In the second part of Karen Angle’s interview with former TNA employee, Kaz, he talks about why he quit TNA.  TNA would just like to take this moment to wish Kaz the best of luck in all his future endeavors. After her interview was over and Kaz had walked off, out came Tomko who proceeded to destroy the set of Karen’s Angle. He promised that each and every week he would make her life a living hell in Kurt’s honor.

Back in the ring, “The Blueprint” Matt Morgan is taking on a local wrestler. Morgan makes quick work of him but is not finished in the ring. Grabbing a microphone, he calls Tomko out and the two go at it. Even after being separated by referees, the two get back in each other’s faces. In the end it was Matt Morgan who laid out Tomko.

With the main event of the night upon us, it was Angelina Love and Velvet Sky taking on TNA Knockout Champion, Taylor Wilde and Gail Kim. After a smash mouth style of match that showed the two opposing teams disdain for each other, it was Kim and Wilde that picked up the win. The fun had just begun however. Out came former Knockout Champion, Awesome Kong. Her and “The Beautiful People” began to beat down Kim and Wilde, only to be saved by ODB and Roxxi coming out. As all this was going on, Traci Brooks appeared on the entrance ramp with a smile on her face as she looked on.

As iMPACT! was going off the air cameras caught Joe in the rafters looking for Sting. However, all he was able to find was a black crow perched on a beam.

Is this another mind game from Booker T? Or is it Sting leaving another message for Joe? Find out the answers to these questions and more next week on iMPACT! If you missed the broadcast tonight, make sure to tune into Spike TV Saturday night. Check your local listings for replay times.

Ricky Ortiz def. Chavo Guerrero (disqualification)
The Miz & John Morrison def. Finlay & Hornswoggle
    Matt Hardy def. Colin Delaney

HERSHEY, Pa. – Make no mistake, ECW Champion Mark Henry plans to hold on to the Extreme gold through SummerSlam and for a long time to come – a mission he made clear on Tuesday’s ECW on Sci Fi. The World’s Strongest Champion came face-to-face with his SummerSlam opponent and fellow ECW draftee, Matt Hardy, on ECW where Henry bent a steel bar to prove his strength and toughness.

But No. 1 contender Hardy wasn’t impressed by Henry’s act of strength, nor was he bothered by his ECW on Sci Fi opponent, Colin Delaney. The youngster faced Hardy in an attempt to impress Henry and WWE Hall of Famer Tony Atlas who merely looked on, without offering assistance. After Hardy defeated Delaney, Henry entered the ECW ring, took a long look at his SummerSlam opponent, then grabbed Delaney, and in another act of strength, pressed him over his head and tossed him over the top rope. (WATCH)

Will the World’s Strongest Champion continue to dominate in the Land of the Extreme? Or will Hardy’s positive momentum and unbreakable spirit continue through SummerSlam, helping him to prevail in his ECW Championship Match? Now that Henry has shown Delaney where he stands within their partnership, and Delaney again failed to impress the ECW Champion, who will the youngster turn to next for guidance?

Also on ECW, Sci Fi's highest-rated show, the undefeated Ricky Ortiz took on Chavo Guerrero, who was accompanied by his bodyguard, Bam Neely. The confident Ortiz, who is part of ECW General Manager Theodore Long’s New Superstar Initiative, entered the match with a 1-0 record, and continued his winning streak when Guerrero lost by disqualification because of Neely’s interference. After the match, Neely attacked Ortiz and held down his feet while Guerrero delivered a devastating frog splash to the newcomer. But Guerrero’s gloating didn’t last long, as Evan Bourne rushed the ECW ring to quickly attack the self-proclaimed “Mexican Warrior,” then escaped to have the last laugh. (WATCH)

Bourne’s been a thorn in Guerrero’s side for the last few weeks – will the high-flying newcomer continue to torment Guerrero? How will Guerrero use Neely to his advantage when it comes to warding off Bourne?

Also on Tuesday night, The Miz & John Morrison met Finlay & Hornswoggle in tag team action. The former WWE Tag Team Champions found a sweet victory in Chocolatetown, U.S.A., defeating the father and son duo. As Finlay tended to his son, Mike Knox stormed into the ring and attacked Finlay, laying him out alongside Hornswoggle. Minutes later, Knox told ECW Diva Lena Yada that Finlay has gone from being “the man who loves to fight to the man who loves to dance with leprechauns.” Knox said Finlay has gone soft, making him an easy target.

Will Knox come after Finlay again? How will Finlay & Hornswoggle prove they haven’t “gone soft” as Extreme Superstars?

Finally, there’s a new face in the Land of the Extreme. Following the shocking appointment of Mike Adamle to Raw General Manager by WWE Executive Vice President, Shane McMahon, five-year veteran of the WWE announce team, Todd Grisham, has joined ECW as the new play-by-play man on Tuesday nights.

Don’t forget to watch Saturday Night’s Main Event this Saturday at 9 p.m. ET on NBC, and help support the fight against autism with Jenny McCarthy and Generation Rescue now.

To follow up on the story regarding Hollywood star Freddie Prinze Jr. joining the WWE creative team, Vince and Stephanie McMahon are hoping that it will open more doors to Hollywood. WWE would also love the chance to have access to Sarah Michelle Geller who is Freddie Prinze’s wife for an angle at some point.

Prinze Jr. is a huge WWE fan however he hasn’t necessarily have the historical knowledge to understand what has and has not been successful in the past.

He was introduced to everyone at last night’s WWE Raw and Saturday Night’s Main Event tapings. According to sources he impressed people in the company with all of his excitement and wiliness to contribute to the company.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – After weeks spent leaderless and awash in mayhem and disarray, Raw finally has a new General Manager: Mike Adamle.

At the top of Monday night’s show, Shane McMahon announced that he and Executive Vice President Stephanie McMahon had selected a new GM, but that he wouldn’t be announced until later that night. Raw’s final moments were shocking ones, as Shane introduced new GM Adamle, known to most of the WWE Universe as the typically dunder-headed ECW commentator. In spite of that perception, however, Adamle made his presence felt during his first night on Raw, making numerous matches over the course of the night.

    SummerSlammed
One of the matches made by Adamle was the night’s main event, a tag team match pitting John Cena & Batista against JBL & Kane. Though they began the show in an argument over who should face World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk at SummerSlam, Cena & Batista were able to work together in their match to defeat JBL & Kane. After their victory, however, the new Raw GM made sure that the two Superstars’ partnership wouldn’t be a lasting one, as Adamle announced Raw’s first epic match for SummerSlam: John Cena vs. Batista for the first time ever. (WATCH)

    What’s Old is New Again
Prior to their tag-match against Cena & Batista, JBL & Kane butted heads following World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk’s match for the night. The Straightedge Champion competed in a non-title match against an athlete touted by Shane McMahon as “the hottest free agent in sports-entertainment.” To the surprise of the auditorium, that moniker belonged to the returning William Regal, who in spite of his recent crowning as King of the Ring, was unable to defeat Punk. After the match, both JBL and Kane came to the ring, leading to a free-for-all which ended with the tag team partners standing tensely over the World Heavyweight Champion.

    A Farewell to Highlights
In addition to receiving a brand-new GM, Monday’s Raw also saw another historic moment: The final edition of Chris Jericho’s talk-show, the Highlight Reel. Y2J used the platform to gloat over ending the career of Shawn Michaels, urging the fallen Superstar to “stay home” and “move on.” However, despite Jericho’s warning, HBK will be appearing next week on Raw in the first interview since his Bash loss to Y2J.

The segment’s host then went on to air a series of clips of the more fan-friendly Jericho. With protégé Lance Cade by his side, he announced that he is no longer interested in trying to please the audience, and that those clips were the last they would see of Chris Jericho the “entertainer.” Before leaving the ring, Y2J then revealed the one person he feels is entitled to a World Heavyweight Title Match: Himself. (WATCH)

For the Love of a Woman
In his continuing attempts to impress and woo the lovely Layla, Jamie Noble competed against Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston. In spite of the presence of his “part-time lady acquaintance,” Noble was unable to get the win and was pinned by the Jamaican Superstar.

    Defending a Legacy
Flowing out of their confrontation on last week’s Raw, World Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase were set to defend their titles against Jerry “The King” Lawler & Hacksaw Jim Duggan. Before the match could begin, however, ring announcer Lillian Garcia was alerted that the new General Manager had changed the match, substituting Duggan for a very confused Michael Cole. Lawler’s experience ended up being no match for the ambition and vitality of the World Tag Team Champions, who won by pinning a defenseless Cole. (WATCH)

    Twisted Sister
It was a busy night for Raw’s champions as WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James competed against Jillian. The Women’s Champion defeated the Diva songstress, but before she could celebrate her win, Katie Lea Burchill ran to the ring and attacked Mickie in a bid to impress Raw’s new GM. Katie Lea then escaped back to the ramp where her brother Paul awaited, and stated their desires for the WWE Women’s and Intercontinental Championships, respectively.

    Rules of Attraction
Though they shared an in-ring kiss on last week’s Raw, Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix agreed that there was nothing between them before their intergender tag team match. They were victorious against D-Lo Brown & Kelly Kelly, celebrating with a chaste handshake afterward. However, the passion of the moment must have been too much for The Glamazon, who pulled the Italian Superstar in for a victory smooch.

The Great Khali def. Big Show, Jeff Hardy, Mr. Kennedy, Umaga and MVP in a Biggest Blockbuster of the Summer Battle Royal (New No. 1 contender to WWE Championship)
Divas Champion Michelle McCool def. Maryse (Non-title)
The Brian Kendrick def. Shannon Moore

PHILADELPHIA – After suffering through the embarrassment of her husband Edge’s infidelity last week, SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero came to the City of Brotherly Love intent to show the world she was as strong as ever. The jilted bride listened as Edge offered his apologies and begged for her love, and she let the Ultimate Opportunist know she still loved him. But, by the end of the night, Guerrero not only displayed her GM power, but she showed the Rated-R Superstar that his tryst with Alicia Fox had caused her to do the unthinkable – reinstating Undertaker and placing her husband in a Hell in a Cell Match with the returning Phenom at SummerSlam. Full match preview...

    Summer Blockbuster
In a Biggest Blockbuster of the Summer Battle Royal, despite the best efforts of Big Show, Jeff Hardy, MVP, Umaga and Mr. Kennedy, The Great Khali, with his translator Ranjin Singh back by his side, defeated five of SmackDown’s greatest competitors to earn himself a WWE Championship Match at SummerSlam against Triple H. The World’s Largest Athlete looked poised for the victory, but an already eliminated Umaga returned to the ring and delivered a Samoan Spike, ruining Big Show’s chances. After Khali’s victory, The Game made his way into the arena, and he and the Punjabi Giant stared each other down, as Khali motioned he wanted the gold. Full match preview...

Before competing in the Battle Royal, MVP welcomed Jeff Hardy into his VIP Lounge, where the cocky MVP accused Jeff of being a failure, bringing up Hardy’s stormy past. While Hardy attempted to explain himself, the Franchise Playa kept it coming, pointing out all the negatives that had befallen the Charismatic Enigma, much to the disgust of our fans. Hardy finally had heard enough, and he chased the Ballin’ Superstar out of the ring.

    New champs on Friday night
After capturing gold at The Great American Bash this past Sunday, the new WWE Tag Team Champions, Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder, were not in tag team action on SmackDown, but Hawkins was in one-on-one action against Festus. The rivalry between these duos is boiling, and the corn-fed colossus picked up a singles win, gaining some retribution for the attacks he has sustained from “The Family” over the past few weeks.

United States Champion Shelton Benjamin proved that he is ready for action with his newly-won title around his waist, taking on Jimmy Wang Yang. In a fast-paced encounter, the Gold Standard continued his hot streak, defeating the resident redneck.

Also, Divas Champion Michelle McCool defeated Maryse on SmackDown, just days after becoming the first-ever champion. The All-American Diva was all smiles with the gold around her waist, but many wonder if the Diva she defeated at The Great American Bash, Natalya, is done hunting for the title.

    Kozlov continues to roll
Vladimir Kozlov sustained his impressive undefeated streak on SmackDown, defeating Philadelphia’s own, Stevie Richards. After the match, Kozlov made his way to the announce table and told Jim Ross & Mick Foley that he wanted better competition. Will anyone in the SmackDown locker room step up and test the Moscow Mauler?

    New look brings luck
The new look and attitude of The Brian Kendrick continued its evolution on SmackDown when the high-flying Superstar defeated Shannon Moore. With Ezekiel by his side, The Brian Kendrick is looking to charge his way up the SmackDown ranks, and there are many, including SmackDown commentator Jim Ross, who feel the sky is the limit for Kendrick.

    TNA Impact Results - 07/24/2008
    Orlando, Florida
Report by Daniel Wilkenfeld of PWTorch.com

Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash are in the ring, which is mysteriously surrounded by a steel cage. Joe is sporting a suit, which wrestlers should really do more often. It makes things seem less silly somehow. The Impact Zone is bizarrely booing Joe as he challenges Booker to Six Sides of Steel at Hard Justice. Booker T comes out, and most of the crowd seems to be booing him too. This is not a good sign. The last time Booker saw Joe he was jumping out of an ambulance, and his daddy taught him that when people resort to stuff like that, it shows you just how scared they really are. That's a good line. Anyway, Booker T was a drum major in high school…wait, what? I'm not sure I'm more surprised to learn that some high schools have majors, or that, of those who do, at least one counts "drumming", but okay. Booker says they might as well have more instruments handy at Hard Justice, like tables, ladders, and chairs, so later tonight he'll have a contract and be ready to sign. Will Joe? He signs off by warning Joe to be afraid of the dark.

JB is in the back with Christian Cage, Rhino, and AJ Styles, and he reminds them that Angle claimed that Sting will be in his corner tonight. AJ actually refers to the alleged "turn" of Sting, and he doesn't buy it. He trusts the Stinger. Christian Cage says that if Sting shows up, he'll be the first to go through a table. AJ protests, but Cage points out the stakes—this isn't about winning a match, it's about who ends who's livelihood first. Christian walks off, and Rhino warns AJ simply: "Don't get sucked in."

That was a good opening segment.

    [Commercial Break]

We have a video package hyping Sting's status as a legend, and reminding us about his comments regarding possible retirement. TNA still doesn't quite have the hang of these productions, but this one was relatively solid.

    (1) CONSEQUENCES CREED defeats JOHNNY DEVINE, JIMMY RAVE, and ERIC YOUNG (w/LANCE ROCK and CHRISTY HEMME)

We get to see Consequences Creed two weeks ago—might they conceivably be pushing a new star? I'll believe it when I see it. Devine pairs off with Creed as EY gets in a cheap shot on Jimmy Rave. Young goes to the top, but Rave shoves him out of the ring. That leaves Devine in control for a sec till Creed tosses him, and we're down to a manageable two in the ring. Rave hits a running kick for two. He sees EY coming in, and ambushes him with an STO on the apron. Creed goes to follow him out, but Lance Rock cuts him off in the ring. Rock goes for a Choke Slam, but Creed reverses it into a DDT and hits a Somersault Plancha on Rave and Devine on the outside. Somehow everyone but Creed makes it back into the ring, but EY and Devine go right back out. Creed comes in with a quick roll up on Rave for two. Rave hits an awesome Tilt-a-Whirl Arm Bar Takedown and then Rocks Creed's World, but EY breaks up the ensuing cover at two. Young hits the Death Valley Driver on Rave, but Devine breaks up the cover. Devine nails the Devine Intervention on Young but this time it's Creed who breaks it up at two. He goes for the CreeDDT, but it's reversed into an attempted Devine Intervention, which is re-reversed an attempted Back Body Drop, which is re-re-reversed into a Sunset Flip, which is re-re-re-reversed into a roll up for the win.
After the match Devine ambushes Creed, with help from the Rock & Rave Infection. Devine gets a chair, but before he can use it Abyss hits the ring. Devine gets Rock & Rave to help fend off the monster, but they attack evil-ninja-style and are squished one by one. Abyss picks up the fallen chair, but, despite the crowd's pleading, he refuses to use it.

JB is awkwardly lying on a table backstage, with Team 3D and Angle standing over him. Brother Ray says JB has pretty lips. That was awkward. He also says that they're ready for the match, and that AJ needs to realize some things: there is no Santa Claus, OJ is innocent (Devon smiles at that one), and Sting has joined the scumbags. They know, cause they're scumbags themselves, along with biggest scumbag of them all, Kurt Angle. If being a scumbag was an Olymbic sport, Kurt would win the gold, the silver, and the bronze. Devon takes the mic, and says that Ray might not have a lot of credibility in TNA, but he (Devon) is no liar, and he promises that Sting will be here tonight and he will shock the world. He asks Angle to testify. Angle says that Sting's sick of trying to please the fans, cause there is no pleasing us. Actually that's not a horrible point—we are a fickle bunch sometimes. There are no heroes in this world, only bad guys like Angle and his two new best friends. While Angle's beating down AJ he'll be picturing AJ lying in his bed with his wife, and when he's done he'll look him in the eye and ask if it was worth it.

That was an equally good second segment.

    [Commercial Break]

We look back at Kaz's repeated near-pushes. It's actually kind of cool that they're working that into the plot. Hah—they just referred to Kaz's win in the first ever "Steel Asylum Match"—someone clearly heard my weeks on end of complaining about what a horrible name "TerrorDome" was, and now they're just pretending it never happened. The video recap culminates with Kaz costing Team TNA the World X Cup by taking himself out of the Ultimate X Match at Victory Road.

It's time for Karen's Angle. She thanks Kaz for being her first guest, and he talks about getting trained in Killer Kowalski's school in Malden, MA. Here's a random autobiographical fact—I probably wouldn't be married now if it weren't for that school. I challenge any of you to figure that one out. Karen asks who, aside from Kowalski, was the biggest influence on him. Kaz cites Bret Hart. They talk about TNA's beginnings, and Kaz's departure in 2005. He says that his brief tenure in WWE sucked his will to wrestle. We're going to finish this interview next week. What happened to Tomko's assigned run-in?

We're three segments in, and there've been no real misses.

    [Commercial Break]

    (2) MATT MORGAN defeats KORY CHAVIS

Lest anyone doubt the importance of good entrance music, Morgan's coming down to almost-Saliva instead of "Generic Theme Music 4b" actually makes me like him much more. Poor Kory doesn't even get entrance music…or an entrance…or a chance in hell. Morgan hits some high Hip Tosses, some big kicks, and a Leg Drop on the apron. The crowd is bizarrely alive for Morgan—I'm telling you, it's all about the entrance music. Chavis gets some distance with an Eye Rake, but Morgan just charges him and puts him away with his Vertical-Suplex-into-a-Rock-Bottom, which has thankfully been named ("The Hellavator").

Not-Crystal is in the back with The Motor City Machine Guns, and Sabin says that Beer Money are phonies. He calls himself and Shelley the leaders of the new generation, whereas Beer Money named their team after a made-for-DVD movie starring Zach Morris, which in turn is not to be confused with the blank DVD people get when they order the "Best of James Storm" DVD. They pause to agree that they would both do Jacqueline, but only if no one was around. Shelley riffs on Roode's ponytail, then reminds us that Detroit, in addition to being The Motor City, is also The Murder City. So tonight they're going to point at Beer Money and shoot, and they're weapons are going to be the leather straps.

I'm not a fan of squashes, but The Guns make this show 4 for 4.

    [Commercial Break]

Not-Crystal is in the back with the Prince Justice Brotherhood, and they have come together to form a motto for their group. After some debate, Super Eric sells them on "We come in peace—they leave in pieces", which Curry Man has some trouble getting out. That was slightly amusing.

    [Commercial Break]

I'm not going to count that last segment, though technically I guess the one thing it had was good.

    (3) BEER MONEY (w/JACQUELINE) defeats THE MOTOR CITY MACHINE GUNS

Shelley is strapped in with Storm, and Sabin with Roode. The Guns hit some symmetrical offense, simultaneously going through the legs and flipping their opponents. They do some strapping and then go to the outside. Shelley ties Storm to the ring post as Sabin takes Roode back into the ring. A Neck Breaker gets two. Shelley and Storm come back in, and The Guns have enough slack to hit a bit of tandem offense. They each lock in a submission hold, but Jacqueline distracts the ref and they have to go deal with her. They retain control though, crotching both members of Beer Money with the two straps. Shelley goes to the top rope, but Ms. Jackie knocks him off. Roode takes advantage of Sabin's distraction to take him to the outside and whip him into the steps. Shelley Back Body Drops Storm out of the ring, but he lands on the apron and comes back with a kick to Shelley's head. Roode and Sabin are back in the ring, and the heels hit stereo Body Slams. They both try to follow up off the middle rope, but are both reversed into Inverse Atomic Drops. They wrap Beer Money up and hit tandem Ensuguris, then drive Roode's head into Storm's crotch. They hit tandem Wishbone submissions, and when Jacuqeline tries to break it up she proves ineffective. The ref gets bumped as they break up the move, which lets Jacqueline hand Storm handcuffs. He floors Sabin, and the ref comes in just in time to count the three. Why did they need to take out the ref? There aren't any disqualifications in a strap match.
Beer Money keep the strapping going after the match, and I have to give LAX credit for being consistent—they always take their sweet time making the save.

This was weaker than some of the earlier segments, but I'll give them 5 for 5.

    [Commercial Break]

    (4) TAYLOR WILDE defeats VELVET SKY (w/ANGELINA LOVE)

Wilde wins with a School Girl roll up in 5 seconds.
After the match, Sky takes the mic and says that she wasn't ready. She didn't hear the bell ring, and dares Wilde to beat her again.

    (5) TAYLOR WILDE defeats VELVET SKY (w/ANGELINA LOVE)

Sky kicks Wilde on her way back into the ring, and goes for a cover for two. Wilde gets up and sort of blows an attempted Small Package, but gets enough of a cover for three.
Love takes the mic, and says that they should be Knockout Champions. She doesn't know who Taylor's been dating in TNA management to get all this special treatment, but Love's got $5000 that says that she can't get back in the ring and do it again.

    (6) TAYLOR WILDE defeats VELVET SKY (w/ANGELINA LOVE)

Wilde pulls Sky out of the ring to start the match and beats her down against the mat. She rolls Sky into the ring. She tries to whip Sky into the corner, but gets reversed. She tries to come back with a Cross Body Block, but she whiffs, and Sky has her first advantage of the match(es). She tosses Wilde to the outside and distracts the ref as Love inflicts the damage. She pulls Taylor back into the ring, but a couple of covers only get two. Sky locks in an Octopus, complete with a bite of the arm. The ref sees the bite and breaks the hold, so Taylor hits a quick roll-up for two. Sky comes back with a clothesline for two. She shoots Taylor into the ropes, but both grab for the other's hair at the same time. They get up, and Taylor answers some forearms with a couple stiff kicks to the legs. A dropkick gets two. Taylor hits a Monkey Flip, and quickly stomps Love's fingers on the apron. She hits a Northern Lights Suplex, so Love just attacks, drawing the DQ.
After the match, Love hits the Lights Out and gives Taylor the brown paper bag treatment as the crowd chants for ODB. Eventually they get their wish, as Kim and ODB come down to make the save (ODB, for no obvious reason, gnawing a turkey leg).

We cut to a promo of TNA's new roster member, Daivari, who now wants to be known as Sheik Abdul Bashir. He talks about how he came here to live the American Dream, but whenever people see him they just want to pat him down for bombs. He calls America the most slanted society on the planet, and says that his success means that he's more American than any of us. That was some really stellar heel work—viciously anti-American, but still infinitely more real than the typical caricature of, say, Mohammad Hassan.

    We're 6 for 6.

    [Commercial Break]

SoCal Val is visiting Sonjay Dutt in a hospital rule, and I feel our good segment streak grinding to a halt. He's selling a concussion, and, sure enough, Val doesn't seem to have seen the footage of Sonjay faking the injury. Oh, Sonjay asks if she saw the replay, and she says he knows she hates violence. Okay, that's a lame explanation, but they get mad points for not just ignoring that gaping logic hole. Sonjay says that he's been in a coma for three days, but all he could think about for her. JB asks how he could have been thinking of her while he was in a coma, but Val tells him to have some sympathy. Sonjay starts to say that if he needs to apologize for how he feels he will, but Val says that he has nothing to apologize for and that they're going to put this behind them. Sonjay asks if that means she's in love with him too, but the doctor comes in and says visiting hours are up. After she leaves, we see that Sonjay has somehow palmed her engagement ring. That could have been much, much worse. We get the entrances for the 6-man tag match. How come the heels don't attack Rhino when he rushes to the ring alone?

    I can't honestly say we're 7 for 7, but it wasn't such a clear miss either.

    [Commercial Break]

    (7) AJ STYLES, CHRISTIAN CAGE, & RHINO defeat TEAM 3D & KURT ANGLE

We come back just as the match gets started. They keep saying that five people have to go through tables, but I don't see why one team can't be wiped out. Christian and Angle are in the ring, where they fend off each other's finishers. AJ and Ray come into the ring, where AJ not surprisingly takes control. Ray rolls to the outside, so AJ follows him out with a Cross Body Block. Devon and Rhino are fighting in the crowd as Christian and Angle fight up the ramp. Devon chokes out Rhino with a camera cord. The action goes back into the ring, where the clean pairings break down to a brawl. Ray and Devon go to get a table, but AJ and Christian dropkick the table back into them. AJ sets up the table in the ring, but Brother Ray turns things around with a Back Body Drop. Rhino makes it just in time to shove the table out of the way. Devon reenters the ring and tosses Rhino. They set AJ up on the table, but take too long, and Christian comes in to make the save. Styles fights off Brother Ray as Cage and Rhino put Devon through a table. All three just tee off on Brother Ray, but when they pause to celebrate Angle comes back in and floors everyone with chairs.

    [Commercial Break]

Brother Ray and Angle have Christian isolated in the ring. Apparently Rhino was eliminated during the break when he Gored a table. I guess you don't have to be put through by an offensive maneuver. Cage tosses Brother Ray and hits an Inverted DDT on Angle. He sets Angle up on a table, but Angle grabs the referee and Devon comes out to trip up Christian. They 3D Christian through a table, and it becomes two-on-one. AJ takes both men down with a Double Clothesline, and catches Brother Ray with a Pele on the way back up. AJ sets up a table while Ray calls for a timeout. Johnny Devine comes out and tries to toss powder in AJ's eyes, but AJ ducks and Ray is blinded. AJ tosses Devine into Ray, who, thinking he has a hold of AJ, Power Bombs him through a table. AJ knocks Ray through a table on the outside, as the crowd (mostly) explodes for him. He knocks down Angle and sets him up on a table, with the ref taking a bump in the process. AJ goes to the top rope, but Frank Trigg sneaks up behind him and nails him with a kendo stick. Angle nails an Olympic Slam on AJ through the table, and the ref comes back to see AJ in the broken table and call for the bell. That's two ref bumps for no obvious reason in essentially no-DQ matches.

    [Commercial Break]

Booker T and Sharmell hit the ring, contract in hand. Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash are out next. Booker observes that he brought his wife, and Joe brought his…he trails off, and Nash doesn't look happy. Booker says that he's added some weapons to the stipulation, and he's ready to sign, but wants Joe to send off his little buddy first. Joe says that he wants the man carrying his title to comfortable, so he'll send Nash to the back, but he wants Booker to send his "wench" back as well. Booker is amused that Joe seems scared of his wife, but says she can go. He gives her a long kiss, then looks at Nash and says that Joe's welcome to do the same. Joe says that he would, but he's heard that Sharmell's not a good kisser. Nash is amused. Booker signs the contract, but before Joe can sign the lights go out and Sting's music hits. A second later the lights come back on, Joe's lying prone in the center of the ring, and Booker's standing over him with Sting's "trademark" black baseball bat.

    Tommy Dreamer def. Colin Delaney
    Evan Bourne def. James Curtis
Fatal Four Way: Matt Hardy def. Finlay, The Miz and John Morrison

PHILADELPHIA – While Matt Hardy may have lost the United States Championship to Shelton Benjamin at The Great American Bash this past Sunday, the Extreme Superstar isn’t exactly backing down from the competition. On ECW on Sci Fi, Hardy was victorious in a Fatal Four Way Match against Finlay, The Miz and John Morrison, hitting Morrison with a Twist of Fate to secure a chance to face Mark Henry for the ECW Championship at SummerSlam. (WATCH) More on this story…

Earlier on ECW, in honor of successfully defending his gold at The Great American Bash, Henry was presented a brand-new title on behalf of General Manager Theodore Long. The World’s Strongest Champion accepted the gold alongside WWE Hall of Famer Tony Atlas, who proclaimed it a new ECW. Atlas declared that all who get with the program will be rewarded, including Colin Delaney, who turned against his former mentor, Tommy Dreamer, on Sunday to help Henry retain the ECW Championship.

“I looked in the ring and on one side I saw a legend, a Hall of Famer, Tony Atlas with the World’s Strongest Champion, Mark Henry. And on the other side I saw Tommy Dreamer: A washed-up loser,” Delaney boldly announced, saying he’ll carry Henry’s bags any day.

But before Delaney could leave with his new alliance, Long told the youngster that Dreamer isn’t only a part of his past, but a part of his future, because he’d be facing his former friend in the ECW ring immediately. A frightened Delaney – who was abandoned in the ring by Henry and Atlas – was defeated by Dreamer. Is this the last Delaney will see of the ECW Original – who some say is responsible for helping the youngster earn a WWE contract? How will Delaney’s betrayal affect his life as an ECW Superstar? (WATCH)

Also on ECW on Sci Fi, Evan Bourne continued his winning streak, defeating James Curtis as Chavo Guerrero and Bam Neely watched ringside. Fresh off a victory over Guerrero last week, the young, high-flying Bourne is quickly making a name for himself on the ECW scene. As part of Long’s New Superstar Initiative, Bourne is determined to impact the Land of the Extreme. After defeating Curtis, Guerrero and Neely rushed the ECW ring, attempting to attack Bourne, but the quick Superstar escaped to have the last laugh. Will anyone be able to stop Bourne?

What You Didn't See On This Week's WWE Raw

Thanks to reader Matthew Cannata from New Britain, CT for sending this in:

Here are some notes from Raw last night:

    Dark Matches:
Charlie Haas vs. Local Wrestler - Haas won
Jamie Noble vs. Local Wrestler - Noble won

    - Reaction for Batista was mixed - but more cheers than boos

    - Crowd was very hot for CM Punk

    - When HBK's music hit, the crowd erupted, only to find out it was Lance Cade

    - After the match and when they went to commercial, Cade got on the mic and told everyone to shut the hell up. Boos started pouring in, and told us that if we can't respect them, they are leaving. They left the ring, then came back out to Jericho's music a few minutes later.

    - D'Lo Brown didn't get much of a reaction - maybe no one really knew who he was? I thought he would get a bigger pop.

    - Santino is hilarious

After Raw went off the air:
JBL came down and got his ass whooped. He then walks back up the ramp and Kane comes out. They rush the ring together and Batista spears Kane, then gives him the Spinebuster. Meanwhile, Cena is giving the FU to JBL. They both run from the ring and walk back up the ramp together.

Cena and Batista stare each other down, and Batista leaves. Cena gets on the mic and says that this is the part where he should apologize for hitting Batista, but he's not going to because if it's the "Punch heard 'round the world" that's going to set up a match between him and Batista for the first time ever, then he's never going to apologize. It definitely sounded like a match between them is coming at Summerslam.

He then thanked the crowd, hugged his father, and threw a bunch of stuff he was wearing into the crowd.

    Overall
Overall, it was a great show - the place was packed and it was loud! Crowd was definitely pro-Cena, as I hardly heard any boos.

    Biggest Pop
    Cena
    Punk
    Batista
    Kane

    Biggest Heat
    JBL
    Jericho
    Lance Cade
    Michael Cole

HARDCORE HOLLY IN DE PROBLEMEN ?

Hardcore Holly in trouble with WWE?

    Source: PWInsider.com

For those of you wondering what happened to Hardcore Holly after Cody Rhodes turned on him at the pay per view costing them the Tag Team Championships, Mike Johnson is reporting that the WWE sent him home due to some heat he has on him after an unidentified incident. There were recent rumors saying that he was going to be released from the company, but they are simply rumors at this point and he has not been released. He has been taken off the road though to take care of some personal issues and there's no time frame on when he might return to the company.

World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk vs. Batista (no-contest)

UNCASVILLE, Conn. - One night after The Great American Bash, Monday Night Raw was still embroiled in the disorder that has defined the show since Mr. McMahon was sidelined by injury. As rumors swirled about that Shane and Stephanie McMahon were currently in the process of searching for a new Raw General Manager, World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk defended his title against Batista in a match that saw involvement from Kane, JBL and John Cena. The anarchy escalated to the point that Cena and Batista, two Superstars who normally respect one another, found themselves trading blows at the end of Monday’s Raw.

    Big Red Monster Mash
Before the World Heavyweight Title Match could even begin, Kane emerged and attacked Batista, leading CM Punk to enter the fray and attack the Big Red Monster. After Kane was escorted out of the arena, the match began, but was quickly ended due to interference from JBL, who was bitter that Batista was receiving his second World Title Match in as many nights. As The Animal battered the self-made millionaire, JBL’s Great American Bash opponent, John Cena, rushed to the ring. Though the Chain Gang Commander only intended to get further payback on Layfield, he accidentally leveled Batista, leading to a brawl between the two athletes. In spite of the presence of four legitimate contenders during the night’s main event, CM Punk held onto his championship gold for another night. (WATCH)

    Six-Man Rematch
JBL and Cena’s rivalry carried over into an official match as well: A rematch from last week’s Raw between the team of John Cena & Cryme Tyme and JBL & World Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase. Though ailing from his NYC Parking Lot Brawl with Layfield at The Bash the night before, Cena fearlessly pursued his pay-per-view opponent. But when the self-proclaimed “wrestling god” escaped from ringside, the Chain Gang Commander turned his rage against the World Tag Team Champions by performing a double FU on the two and pinning Ted DiBiase for the win.

It was an especially rough night for Cody Rhodes, as earlier in the program he suffered a slap from Jerry “The King” Lawler in retaliation for the disrespect the World Tag Team Champions showed toward Hacksaw Jim Duggan.

    True Lies
Though Chris Jericho decimated Shawn Michaels in their match at The Great American Bash, it was Y2J’s protégé, Lance Cade, who experienced a win on Raw when he faced Paul London. After the match, Jericho entered the ring to show the WWE Universe footage from the night before when he further injured Michaels’ right eye. (WATCH)

Jericho claimed that HBK was suffering a cracked rib and detached retina with the damage so severe, he was unable to see out of the eye at all, effectively ending Michaels’ career. Perhaps most detestable, Y2J stated that he always speaks the truth as opposed to The Showstopper, who he characterized as the “most corrupt, immoral and destructive individual in WWE history.” (WATCH)

    Tainted Love
As the WWE crowd came to terms with the exit of Shawn Michaels, they were comforted by the return of D-Lo Brown, who defeated Santino Marella. Watching the match at ringside was Beth Phoenix, who had defeated Marella in a rare intergender battle the week before. After Brown exited the ring victorious, The Glamazon entered for a confrontation with the Italian Superstar. The two struggled, then stopped suddenly and began kissing passionately only to pull away a moment later, confused and seemingly a little frightened.

While it’s still unclear whether Beth and Santino have won one another’s affections, there was no confusion about the winner of The Glamazon’s match with Kelly Kelly. Beth showed that she is a formidable competitor no matter the gender of her opponent, utilizing her characteristic strength and ferocity to pin the other Diva as easily as she defeated Santino the week before.

    Burchill Brutality
Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston and WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James have some serious competition for their titles in the form of the brother and sister team of Paul and Katie Lea Burchill. On Raw, the four faced off in an Intergender Tag Match. Though Kofi had defeated Burchill the week before with the help of Mickie James, this week saw the Burchills triumphant over the two champions as Paul pinned the Jamaican Superstar.
