The Boogeyman was backstage at this past Tuesday's SmackDown/ECW taping in his hometown of Houston, Texas. Boogeyman has been off television since early November and out of the ring since September. Just as he was starting to become more active in the ring, he went down with a calf injury. The injury has probably long since healed, but officials still have yet to bring him back.
There is talk going on regarding JBL's in-ring future. His back is still in a lot of pain (the original reason for his hiatus) and he is frustrated that he can't wrestle at the level he'd like. His back problems likely hinder his ability to train as effectively as he'd like, not to mention that he's in his forties and presumably not on anything, which is why his physique sometimes doesn't look up to par in comparison to the other wrestlers.
According to Dave Meltzer, Kurt Angle is injured yet again but this time it is not his neck. He apparently blew out his knee on the Monday tapings and had to wear a huge brace in order to work his scheduled matches for that night and Tuesday. No further information is known at this time.
-- Regarding Melina's injury on Raw this past week, there is still no official word on the matter, but it is believed that she either fractured her heel or tore ligaments in her ankle and will likely need surgery. No word yet on how long she'll be out, but it's definitely going to be at least a few weeks, if not months.
In recent months, Jim Ross had been quite vocal about changing brands in his weekly online blogs. He'd usually say that the fans probably don't care about announcers changing brands and that the moves should be reserved for the wrestlers, pretty much indicating that he wasn't too keen on leaving his position on Raw. As it turned out on Raw tonight, Ross's name came up on the TitanTron and as a result, be will be leaving the show to become the new play-by-play announcer for SmackDown. Ross was taken aback by the sudden announcement because as noted earlier, no one besides possibly the top players on the move were informed of the brand changes beforehand. Judging by J.R.'s reaction upon the announcement, he didn't look too pleased to say the least.
Jeff Jarrett should be making his long-awaited return to the ring by next January. The Sun is reporting that Jarrett is scheduled to wrestled on TNA's next tour England in January. The TNA part-owner Jarrett was backstage for the companys recent events in England, but did not wrestle on the shows. Jarrett last wrestled at the 2007 TNA Sacrifice pay-per-view event.
-- After missing the last set of Impact tapings, it looked like Mickie "Moose" Knuckles' wasn't long for TNA -- quite like Sirelda two years ago -- and that they only needed her services for a few shows. However, Knuckles signed a contract with TNA earlier in week and will be working as a regular with the company from this point forward. Knuckles will be wrestling on Impact two out of the next three weeks.

HOUSTON Just five days prior to Night of Champions and one day after being pulled away from the Land of the Extreme in the stunning 2008 WWE Draft, ECW Champion Kane squared off a in a non-title match against Mark Henry. To the surprise of all, the Worlds Strongest Man pinned the ECW Champion in the middle of the ring, bringing credibility to his recent claims that he belongs in championship competition with the likes of the Big Red Machine and the Worlds Largest Athlete Big Show. (Watch)
Following an explosive build-up filled with epic matches and spontaneous ringside collisions in recent weeks, Kofi Kingston and Shelton Benjamin fought it out in a brutal Extreme Rules Match. After facing early annihilation at the hands of ECWs Gold Standard, amid an array of metal stairs, trash cans, and chairs, Kofi bounced back to pick up the win, giving Benjamin a face full of garbage can and a fresh mark in the loss column. Newcomer Evan Bourne, hit the ring flying, fighting for retribution after last weeks assault by Mike Knox. However, despite Bournes impressive arsenal of high-risk moves, Knox prevailed, defeating Bourne with authority.
After being drafted to ECW on Sci Fi, United States Champion Matt Hardy joined forced with newly-drafted Monday Night Raw Superstar Mr. Money in the Bank CM Punk to compete against the WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz in a non-title match.
The teams were very evenly matched and in the end it seemed liked Morrison might be able to tag in Miz to secure the victory. However, Hornswoggle suddenly made an unexpended appearance, causing a big enough distraction for Hardy to hit the Twist of Fate and pick up the victory.
TNAwrestling.com is reporting that Scott Steiner underwent surgery in Birmingham, Alabama on Tuesday afternoon to repair a fully-torn ACL in his knee. The surgery was performed by Dr. James Andrews. Steiner was injured in the main event match at Sacrifice against Samoa Joe and Kaz. After the event Steiner had an MRI done, but the test was incomplete due to the amount of swelling. Steiner worked through the pain, and was to have a scope done on his knee Tuesday, when the ACL tear was discovered. According to Dr. Andrews, Steiner could be out anywhere from four to six months.
Bryan Alvarez is reporting that Melina was indeed injured on RAW when she took a bad spill to the floor in a tag match where she teamed with Mickie James vs Natalya & Victoria. No further update is known at this time.
Randy Orton is said to very upset regarding a recent Internet report originally reported in Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer Newsletter. It was reported two weeks ago that the severity of Orton's broken collarbone was worse than originally thought and that his return to the ring had been pushed back until October instead of August. According to Meltzer, October is the time frame the creative team is expecting him back. Well, Orton is saying that he should be back in the ring as early as the middle of August and that the pain in his collarbone is pretty much gone. Orton said he's been using a special machine that helps regenerate bone growth and thus speed up his recovery. The machine has an electromagnet that gives a direct pulse to the break of the bone.
Patrick Brink, a 27 year old independent wrestler who has recently been training out of Team 3D's wrestling school in Florida, has signed a WWE developmental deal.
"Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig's son Joe was recently transferred from Harley Race's wrestling school to Florida Championship Wrestling. Hennig was allowed to train at Race's school because Race and grandfather Larry "The Axe" Hennig have been friends for 45 years and were a tag team in the 60s. Also, Joe's sister Amy, who is also under a developmental contract, is still training to be a wrestler at Race's school.

Edge won a Tri-Branded 15-Man Battle Royal. WWE Champion Triple H and Mr. Kennedy were drafted to SmackDown from Raw.
SAN ANTONIO - Just days before Night of Champions, seismic shifts took place across the landscape of sports-entertainment, with WWE Champion Triple H being drafted to SmackDown, giving that brand two World Championships, while Raw gained the ECW Champion Kane. Raw, SmackDown and ECW earned the right to receive a random draft pick by competing in inter-brand matches that led to 10 Superstars changing their home brands. Even more shocking was the spontaneous destruction of the Raw stage, which collapsed on top of the Chairman of WWE, Mr. McMahon, in the final moments of the show.
More Raw Talent
With five Superstars drafted to the brand throughout the night, Raw came away from the draft with a lot of new talent in their roster. In the very first match of the night, WWE Champion Triple H (prior to being drafted himself) defeated Mark Henry, earning Raw the first draft pick, which saw the incomparable Rey Mysterio join Monday nights. After the match, The Game welcomed the Master of the 619, but was interrupted by Triple Hs Night of Champions opponent, John Cena.
Cena also tasted victory, as he defeated his long-time rival, World Heavyweight Champion Edge by count-out. After the match was won, Edge was attacked by Batista, who has his own problems with the World Champion, and will face him this Sunday at Night of Champions. With Cena winning the match, Raw earned another draft pick, which brought Batista back to Monday nights, along with his opportunity to win the World Heavyweight Title this Sunday night.
JBL showed San Antonio why he refers to himself as a wrestling-god as he defeated ECWs Kofi Kingston to earn Raw another draft pick. When the random lottery machine ran, it was ECW Champion Kane who joined Raw along with his coveted title, though he will still defend it against Big Show at Night of Champions.
In the second of four tag team matches, World Tag Team Champions Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes defeated Chavo Guerrero & Bam Neely, which served as good practice for the champions match at Night of Champions against Ted DiBiase and a mystery partner. After winning the match, it was CM Punks music that played as Mr. Money in the Bank himself joined Raw.
WWE Womens Champion Mickie James & Melina and the team of SmackDowns Victoria and Natalya also had a tag team match. Two of these women will be competing at Night of Champions: Mickie will defend her Womens Championship against Katie Lea Burchill, and Natalya will compete against an opponent still to be decided in order to become the first-ever Divas Champion. The draft following this contest was open only to ring announcers, commentators and backstage interviewers, but when Melina suffered a severe ankle sprain and the match ended in a double-disqualification, both Raw and SmackDown received draft picks. These picks saw Jim Ross move to SmackDown, and Michael Cole move to the Raw announce table.
Building Up SmackDown
On Friday night, SmackDown will find itself with five new Superstars, two of which were selected after Edge won a Tri-Branded 15-Man Battle Royal. The Ultimate Opportunist threw both Triple H and John Cena over the ropes, winning SmackDown the final two draft lottery picks of the night: Raws Mr. Kennedy, and WWE Champion Triple H, who will bring his title with him to Friday nights.
On Sunday, the father-son team of Finlay & Hornswoggle will challenge WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz, but on Monday night they warmed up by defeating the team of Santino Marella & Carlito. The two fighting Irishmens win resulted in Jeff Hardy being drafted to Friday nights.
SmackDown also benefited from MVPs match with Tommy Dreamer, when the Ballin Superstar defeated Dreamer in spite of Colin Delaney being in the ECW Originals corner. With that win, SmackDown said Hello to Umaga, who was drafted to the brand, and immediately entered the ring, devastating both Tommy Dreamer and Colin Delaney.
Extreme Recruit
ECW only found itself gaining one new Superstar to the brand, due to WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz defeating United States Champion Matt Hardy and his brother and new SmackDown brand-mate, Jeff Hardy. With the champions win, ECW was able to draft Matt Hardy, who brings with him his United States Championship, which he will defend against Chavo Guerrero at Night of Champions.
Heartbreaking Alliance
In addition to the above Draft shake-ups, Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho entered the arena to address the crowd in the wake of his rivalry with San Antonios own Shawn Michaels. Y2J spoke to Lance Cade over the TitanTron, and the two criticized HBK for lying and betraying people over the years. Jericho went on to say that he would love to defend his title against Michaels at Night of Champions, but that HBK was unable to compete due to Y2J smashing his head into the Jeri-Tron 6000.
This brought the San Antonio native himself to the ring, resulting in a violent altercation between Michaels and the Intercontinental Champion, in which Jericho did further damage to HBKs wounded eye.
Money Talks
For the third week in a row, Mr. McMahon gave away $1 million of his own money live on Raw. The WWE Chairman gave $100,000 to five lucky winners and $500,000 to one extremely lucky member of the WWE Universe.
After giving away that huge final prize of the night, explosions rocked the Raw stage, which fell apart, collapsing on top of Mr. McMahon. WWE Superstars and medical personnel alike rushed to the scene, struggling to free the injured Chairman.
Batista discussed his eventual retirement and life after wrestling in an interview with Slam Wrestling. "I hope to always have a job within WWE," he said. "I'm thinking about hanging up my boots in the next couple of years. I'm almost 40; turn 39 this year, so I hope there's going to be a spot for me within the company.
TNA officials appeared to be interested in the services of the Ultimate Warrior when he announced his return to wrestling a few weeks ago, but these days it looks to be a dead issue. They aren't talking about bringing him in anymore, so it doesn't look like it's going to happening.[/
United States Champion Matt Hardy def. Bam Neely Michelle McCool def. Layla Vladimir Kozlov def. Jamie Noble ECW Champion Kane def. Montel Vontavious Porter The Great Khali def. WWE referee Charles Robinson Jesse & Festus def. Deuce & Domino Finlay def. WWE Tag Team Champion The Miz Chavo def. Batista
San Jose, Calif. In the nights main event featuring Batista against Chavo Guerrero, SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero swayed the odds heavily against The Animal by naming World Heavyweight Champion Edge as the special guest referee. The scheduled referee, Charles Robinson, had been conveniently taken out of commission earlier in the night in a match the GM ordered between Robinson and The Great Khali.
And, in typical Guerrero fashion, Batistas match included a stipulation: If he laid a hand on Edge during the bout, he would lose his chance to face the Rated-R Superstar for the World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions.
Although Batista held his own against Chavo, The Familys influence proved to be too much to overcome. After being counted out of the match by guest referee Edges fast count, Batista suffered a 5-on-1 attack from The Family, capped off with a brutal spear from the Ultimate Opportunist. (WATCH)
If Vickie can continue to use her power to orchestrate things on SmackDown, how might she affect things at Night of Champions and even at The Granddaddy of Them All, WrestleMania XXV? And with three days until the WWE Draft, is Guerreros job going to be someone elses after Monday Night?
Disenfranchised playa It seems as though no one is immune from the vindictive ways of SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero. Montel Vontavious Porter felt her wrath as she ordered him to face ECW Champion Kane. Despite all his self-promoting talk on the nights edition of MVPs VIP Lounge, SmackDowns Franchise Playa proved to be no match for the Big Red Machine, deciding to get counted out rather than face the fires of the ECW Champion.
Then, after picking up the win, Kane had to deal with his own vindictive adversary, Mark Henry, who was out for payback for the double-chokeslam he received from Kane and Big Show earlier in the week on ECW. (WATCH)
Debut loss In his first one-on-one match, Bam Neely took on United States Champion Matt Hardy. Looking on was Chavo Guerrero Hardys Night of Champions opponent. But, Chavo proved to be more hindrance than help to his family member, as he attracted the attention of referee Charles Robinson who ejected him from ringside. With Bam distracted by Guerreros ejection, Hardy capitalized by delivering a hard-hitting Twist of Fate to pick up the win.
Ref ordered to wrestle In a shocking move, Guerrero ordered WWE referee Charles Robinson to face action on SmackDown. While meeting with Robinson in her office, Guerrero expressed concern at what she perceived as Robinsons lack of objectivity in Edges matches against Undertaker at WrestleMania XXIV and Judgment Day. She was also unhappy about Robinson ejecting Chavo from ringside earlier in the night. You need to experience how it feels from a Superstars perspective, she said.
Robinson had no choice but to follow the GMs orders, even without knowing who his opponent would be. As he anxiously awaited the start of his first-ever match, he learned Guerrero picked none other than The Great Khali to face him. In an extreme mismatch, the 420-pound Punjabi Giant destroyed Robinson using a clothesline, head butt, Khali Chop and Khali Vise Grip. The brutal assault required Robinson to be removed from the ring on a stretcher. (WATCH) More on Charles Robinsons condition
Bringing the pain Just like she did a few weeks ago on SmackDown, Michelle McCool defeated Layla using a heel hook to make her submit. The All-American Divas win attracted the attention of Natalya, who looked on from the ramp after the match. With the upcoming live three-hour WWE Draft on the next episode of Raw, the SmackDown Diva roster could be totally shaken up as the Sexiest Women on Television vie for the new Divas Championship. More on the WWE Draft
Streak continues All things must come to an end, but dont tell Vladimir Kozlov. The man from Moscow chalked up another win by defeating Jamie Noble, bringing his undefeated SmackDown record to 11-0. While leaping from the top rope, Noble was met with a vicious head butt from Kozlov, leaving Noble writhing in agony after the match ended. More on Jamie Nobles condition
Tag teams demise? The growing dissention between tag team partners Deuce & Domino came to a head after their loss to Jesse & Festus. After Festus pinned Domino, Deuce delivered a Crack em in da Mouth to Domino. Deuce then tossed his leather jacket over his fallen comrades face as if to signal the end of the partnership of the once tag team champions.
Looking for gold With WWE Tag Team Champion John Morrison on commentary, he watched his partner, The Miz, take on Finlay. With tensions high surrounding the upcoming tag team title match at Night of Champions, Morrison jumped up from the announce table in the middle of the match to go after Hornswoggle. Hornswoggle retaliated by whacking Morrison in the knee with a shillelagh. The action outside the ring distracted The Miz, allowing Finlay to capitalize and deliver a Celtic Cross to pick up the pinfall.
TNA WRESTLING iMPACT! RESULTS FOR 6/19/08 By Charles Rice
As iMPACT! kicked off this week, many of Total Nonstop Action wrestlings finest had one thought on their minds revenge.
That is something that is easier said than achieved as many of the stars of the six sided ring would soon find out. Watch the videos, then scroll down for complete results!
The night began with the still unmarried Jay Lethal waiting for his former best friend, Sonjay Dutt, to show up so he could exact his revenge on for ruining his wedding a few weeks ago at Slmmiversary. Although Dutt had yet to arrive, Lethal promised he would make this a night that Dutt would never forget.
The first match of the night featured the number one contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, Booker T, squaring off against fellow veteran wrestler BG James. Booker attacked James before he could even get in the ring and from there it was nothing but the Booker show. Every time James would start to get in any kind of offense, Booker would quickly combat it. In the end it was the axe kick by Booker that put BG away for good.
It was no surprise that The Samoan Submission Machine and current TNA Heavyweight Champion, Samoa Joe was in the locker room in the back watching the match intently.
Afterwards, Jeremy Borash was trying to interview Joe on whether he thought he could beat Booker or not. It was a short lived interview that was interrupted by Joes former mentor Big Sexy Kevin Nash. Joe made it clear he was tired of Nash always saying things but never backing them up, upon which he challenged Nash to get in the ring with Booker and beat him himself. Never one to back down from a challenge, Nash accepted Joes challenge. He said that next week on iMPACT! he would show why, A veteran makes this a mental not a physical game. He encouraged Joe to watch saying he may be able to learn something.
Although many emotions were running wild this week on iMPACT! it was also a very exciting night for TNA. It was the kick off for the return of the World X Cup, although last week there were some preview matches, tonight was when the fun really started. In the first round of action it was The Motor City Machine Guns representing Team TNA going up against Davari and Tyson Duxx of Team International. This was a match that showed why the Motor City Machine Guns are one of the quickest rising teams in TNA today. In a match where there were many near falls and many quick tags in and out, it was Team TNA that prevailed in the end when Alex Shelley hit the sliced bread on Davari. While TNA is now up in the tournament, it is far from over.
At one point during the previous match backstage cameras cut away from the action and showed AJ Styles attacking Tomko from behind while he had been lifting weights in the training room. Right after the match cameras caught up once again with AJ who was this time in the parking lot attacking Kurt Angle. Or was he? It turned out that the man AJ had attacked from behind was not Angle after all, but Angles friend with the similar bald head, mixed martial arts fighter, Frank Trigg.
After a video package is shown highlighting the career of Gail Kim to date, Mike Tenay and Don West are shown conducting an interview with Karen Angle via satellite because she is at home recovering from Awesome Kongs attack on her last week. She admits that while she was scared for her life she will not give Kurt the satisfaction of leaving TNA because that is what he wants. She also stands fast behind her statement that there is nothing going on between her and AJ.
We once again see Jay Lethal still waiting for Sonjay Dutt to show up at the Pink Taco but his patience is beginning to wear as we see him throwing bottles and other stuff around out of frustration.
Meanwhile, back at the iMPACT! Zone, Jim Cornette has made his way to the ring and has invited out the TNA Tag Team Champions, the LAX. After LAX along with Hector and Salinas come out to the ring, Cornette announces that their request has been granted. There will be a very special fans revenge lumberjack strap match at Victory Road featuring LAX against Robert Roode and Cowboy James Storm. (For more details on what this is and how to enter the contest, check out tnawrestling.com in the coming days for more details as they become available.) Hector says LAX is ready for this because after what happened to him and LAX last week, all Roode and Storm did was awaken the Latino fire within.
Cornette then invites Roode and Storm down to the ring to make the match official. However, the only person that comes down to the ring is the Pride of Tennessee Jackie. After Cornette questions her on where the other two are, she and Salinas get into a battle of words. This leads to a match being made between the two for later that night.
Another week and another edition of Awesome Kongs $25,000 fan challenge is underway. The fan selected is a pretty blonde named Taylor. In a match that looks like we might finally have an upset on our hands, Kong is taken to the limit. After Taylor was able to escape two Awesome Bombs and take Kong off her feet several times, she met her match when a third attempt at an Awesome Bomb from Kong resulted in the pin fall. None the less, Taylor put on quite a showing getting in several chair shots and near falls on Kong.
Backstage cameras catch Team 3D standing over a motionless Rhino who has been put through a table. Both men are standing there mocking him. It seems as if they have taken Rhino out of action for their main event match later in the night against him and Christian Cage.
In another area of the backstage, Jeremy Borash finds Sonjay Dutt and asks him why he hasnt gone to face Lethal at the Pink Taco. Sonjay says he is a guru and that means he is full of love not violence. He tells JB that Jay will have to forgive him because Val loves him just like he loves her.
In another preview match for the World X Cup, Kaz took on Alex Koslov. In a match that showed both men pulling out all the stops while trying to gain momentum for their teams, Kaz was able to pull off the victory when he connected with a Wave of the Future on Koslov.
Christian Cage is seen backstage and says that while many look at Rhino being taken out of action, he sees it as A phenomenal opportunity. Does cage have an ace up his sleeve?
In a special edition of rough cut, Matt Morgan is featured talking about how he had A.D.D. as a kid and was a successful basketball player. The second part of that interview will be shown next week on iMPACT!
Finally, Sonjay had arrived at the Pink Taco and somehow he was able to convince Jay to hear him out. After, listening to Sonjay speak, he seemed to have heard enough when Sonjay said that Val loved him and not Jay. Upon saying that, Dutt was met with a hand to the face and an all out war broke loose. Both men brawled all over the Pink Taco and eventually Jay smashed Dutt through the door. Somehow we later found out that Dutt managed to escape from the Taco in one piece.
In another backstage interview, Team 3D makes it clear that Christian Cage isnt surprising anyone. They know that he was insinuating that AJ Styles was going to be his partner and that they were happy about it. They said they enjoyed beating up AJ and would do it again during the match.
In Knockouts competition, Jackie and Salinas had an all out battle. Both women exchanged blows and kicks and lefts and rights. In the end it was Jackie who walked out victorious after making Salinas tap out. Still, Jackie wasnt done. She proceeded to take off her belt and once again a member of LAX, this time Salinas, got whipped.
In the main event of the night, Team 3Ds prediction came true. It was Christian Cage and his new partner, AJ Styles taking on Team 3D. This match was one that showed not only a back and forth battle between the two teams, but also several new attitudes. First, AJ continued showing that he was no longer everybodys sidekick but that he was his own person not to be messed with. However, an even larger note showed that he and Cage had made peace, and cage looked at him as an equal now. There new found respect for each other led them to a hard fought victory over Team 3D. Still it did not come easily, and it is a fair assumption to say that all these men will meet again somewhere down the line.
While AJ may have gotten some of his revenge tonight, the night would once again end in a common theme for iMPACT! as of late. AJ would be left lying battered and bruised on the mat. For, after the match, Frank Trigg came out to confront AJ. This gave Kurt the opportunity he needed to come from behind and lock an ankle lock onto AJ. As iMPACT! went off the air, Kurt once again stood tall over AJ and could be heard saying, If youre looking for me, you found me.
While not everyone got the revenge they sought this week on iMPACT! there will be plenty more opportunities next week. As the stars of TNA gear up for Victory Road live on Pay-Per-View from Houston, Texas on July 13th, stayed tuned to the Web site and iMPACT! every week as more matches and details are announced. If you missed this weeks iMPACT! make sure you watch the re-play on Spike TV this Saturday night. Check your local listings for times.
