Kelly Kelly vs. Maryse ended in a No Contest WWE Champion John Cena def. The Miz by Disqualification Rey Mysterio & U.S. Champion Kofi Kingston def. Drew McIntyre & Jack Swagger WWE Tag Team Champion Kane def. Mason Ryan by Disqualification
Raw results: Star-spangled birthday By: Greg Adkins May 2, 2011 Tags: Raw: May 2, 2011 MIAMI The WWE Universe was clearly in the mood to celebrate. Less than 24 hours after President Barack Obama announced the death of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, it was time to keep those spirits high by celebrating the biggest birthday party on TV.
The Rock celebrated his birthday with the WWE Universe and surprise guest Mr. McMahon (WATCH | PHOTOS) Its a shame birthdays only come around once a year. With all the cake, candles and chaos, though, memories of The Rocks celebratory bash should last at least that long.
With the evening going full force, The Great One thanked the fans in his hometown of Miami and the entire WWE Universe for helping him celebrate. He was then joined by surprise guest Mr. McMahon, who offered some uncharacteristically kind words before unspooling a video tribute to The Rock. Then Grammy-award winning recording artist Mya was introduced and led the crowd in a rendition of Happy Birthday."
Celebrities offered shout-outs to The Rock (WATCH | PHOTOS) None other than Samuel L. Jackson, Steve Carrell, Ellen DeGeneres, Dan Marino, Regis & Kelly, Miami Heat players LeBron James and Dwayne Wade and many more celebrities joined WWE Superstars in showing their love for The Rock throughout the course of the evening by offering best wishes to the birthday boy.
WWE Tag Team Champion Kane def. Mason Ryan by Disqualfication (WATCH | PHOTOS) Mason Ryan is for real. When The New Nexus powerhouse faced off against WWE Tag Team Champion Kane, he manhandled The Big Red Machine. Not that Kane was about to cede any ground he banged right back. That is, until Ryans fellow Nexi bulldozed into the ring and ambushed him.
After the match, Ryan continued to crush his opponent. When Kanes partner, Big Show, attempted a rescue, The New Nexus softened him up and allowed their behemoth to finish him off with a spear. Afterward, Ryan broke from the group and exited up the entrance ramp alone.
Rey Mysterio & U.S. Champion Kofi Kingston def. Drew McIntyre & Jack Swagger (WATCH | PHOTOS) The Raw roster has been put on notice. One week after being drafted to the red brand, Rey Mysterio showed why hes still WWEs littlest big man. The Master of the 619 teamed with new United States Champion Kofi Kingston to tackle Drew McIntyre & Jack Swagger. With the newly-christened U.S. Champion in his corner, Mysterio pitted altitude against attitude and emerged the winner by pinning his Scottish opponent.
Having observed from ringside, Alberto Del Rio decided it was time for him to make an impression. The Mexican Aristocrat attempted to ambush his masked countryman, but Rey fended off his attack.
WWE Champion John Cena def. The Miz by Disqualification (WATCH | PHOTOS) After losing his precious title at Extreme Rules to newly crowned WWE Champion John Cena, The Miz was served up a shot at redemption. Unfortunately for him, he whiffed. The night before, during his Triple Threat Steel Cage Match, The Cleveland Screamer succumbed to The Champ, who pinned him for the victory. Tonight, there would be no pin.
Instead, after a give-and-take bout, Mizs lackey, Alex Riley, handed his boss the WWE Championship while the referee was distracted. The Awesome One used it to clobber his rival, hit him with a Skull Crushing Finale and secure a pin. But that wouldnt be the last of it.
The ref noticed the title already in the ring and quickly realized what had transpired. As a result, he disqualified Miz, allowing The Champ to retain.
In the locker room area, Miz went on to chastise his lackey for interfering, explaining that he is not a quitter, and he will never quit in his life. So, take that, A-Ry!
Kelly Kelly vs. Maryse ended in a No Contest; Kharma attacked (WATCH | PHOTOS) Kharma is a well, lets just say you dont want to mess with her. In the wake of a punishing move by Kelly Kelly, Maryse was paid a visit by WWEs newest Diva. The intimidating colossus interrupted the match and punished Maryse with a chilling lack of compassion. As she did so, Kelly Kelly was left to watch in horror, no doubt wondering if she, too, will be forced to endure the wrath of Kharma.
R-Truth attacked John Morrison (WATCH | PHOTOS) R-Truth has officially lost the plot. One night after ranting about conspiracy theories and personal vendettas, the suspicious Superstar ambushed John Morrison just prior to their scheduled match.
As officials assisted JoMo up the entrance ramp, Truths paranoia propelled him to savagely attack Morrison again, leaving him immobile on the entrance ramp.
The Rock kicked off the biggest birthday party in TV history (WATCH: PART 1 | PART 2 | PHOTOS) If anyone knows how to light up crowd, its The Rock. After all, you dont earn the nickname The Most Electrifying Man in All of Entertainment for no reason. Prior to kicking off his birthday celebration, though, The Rock, as well as the rest of the audience, acknowledged the events of the past 24 hours. As Lilian Garcia sang a moving rendition of the National Anthem, everyone in the American Airlines Arena reflected on the historic news that United States military personnel had killed Osama bin Laden nearly 10 years after the al Queda leader had coordinated the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
With the reassuring news buoying the festivities, The Great One led his hometown in a poignant rendition of the Pledge of Allegiance. He then encouraged them to have fun and celebrate his birthday in high style. Unfortunately, theres always one party pooper in the crowd.
Michael Cole, on behalf of the anonymous Raw General Manager, interrupted The Rock as he addressed his frenzied fans. After ripping on Cole, The Brahma Bull invited him into the ring to apologize. The cheese-eating announcer was greeted with a Rock Bottom and The Peoples Elbow.
When Rock exited to the roars of an appreciative crowd, he was joined by dancers from the Miami Heat basketball team and by rapper Pitbull! Time to par-tay!

You can't make this stuff up guys - Kurt Angle says that he's considering another try at the Olympic games and he's dead serious.
"It's not just this old man trying to lash out to get publicity," Angle told WTAE Channel 4 Action News on Friday. "It's about really making the team and making a point that, you know what, the 40s is not old. It's the new young. I feel really good at 42, and I might be making a statement that him and I are going to start training for the Olympics and go after the U.S. Open, the Olympic team trials, and then the Olympics," Angle said.
"Everyone asks me, 'How can you do all of these things?' And I always tell them I'll rest when I die," Angle said. "I don't rest very much. I like to do things, I like to accomplish things, and I have a passion for everything that I do, including pro wrestling, and I miss the Olympic wrestling."
"But if we're going to make this (Olympic) commitment, we're going to do it, and it starts in August," he said.
A match pitting Michelle McCool against Layla this Sunday at Extreme Rules will carry a "loser leaves WWE" stipulation. While the match was announced as a Loser Leaves Smackdown Match Tuesday's Smackdown taping, "WWE" is overdubbed in placed of "Smackdown" during the telecast, which has already aired in Australia.
PWInsider.com has confirmed that McCool is legitimately leaving WWE, not taking time off as some speculated. Therefore, this Sunday will be her final match with WWE.
- WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes spoke with Marvel.com this past week. Here are some highlights:
Marvel.com: You tried to bring a bit of your comic book fan roots to your WrestleMania gear, didnt you?
Cody Rhodes: Yeah, my jacket was supposed to be more Mister Sinister themed, but as the designer got to work on it, it became more Assassins Creed themed, which was also fine by me. At one point there was this huge diamond in the waistband but it was too much, a bit too close to the Sinister vibe. We could never get the jewel to work, but the diamond is still there in rough leather form if you look closely.
Marvel.com: The way you beat Rey was a classic villain move, which seems very appropriate given how much fans have compared you to Doctor Doom. Is that character a big influence?
Cody Rhodes: Yeah, thats the funny thingBig Show calls me Victor Von Doom and I take that as such a big compliment because Doom is such an iconic villain. Even when hes not used in these epic crossovers or doesnt get the big win, Doom is still a formidable foe whos among the elite villains in the Marvel Universe.
I have all these influences without realizing them myself sometimes. For example, I really wanted to do a lot of mic work along the way to WrestleMania and as I was cutting promos I felt very comfortable in the suit and tie, but then one week decided I wanted to add the mask. That addition made it all pop and reminded me of characters like Doom and The Red Skull, guys who are all business but hide something hideously wrong with them.
Marvel.com: So did you ever think about a less transparent mask, to complete the Doom look?
Cody Rhodes: Well, heres a little known fact, because in the world of entertainment things do get misconstrued: one thing that legitimately happened was my broken nose. It was a horrible thing that ended up being a great thing in terms of my career. I had an idea where I wanted to take it but I looked online and saw Rip Hamilton, from the Detroit Pistons. He had the exact mask I wantedI even went to the same doctor who molded his and had it cast to my face, allowing you to still see my face without obscuring my features. It actually was much more clear when I started but WWE fogged it up a bit, which makes it look cool especially when the lights bounce off.
Marvel.com: Lets end this with wrestling, since weve got the Extreme Rules PPV this Sunday. Whats new in WWE for Cody Rhodes?
Cody Rhodes: I think WrestleMania was a statement but also an opportunity. What I did was say to everyone, our fans included, that Im really into this gig, let me have more. Ive learned that you have to be your biggest self-promoter and I hope that in the next year, as we move forward to WrestleMania XXVIII in Miami, that I can get in that World title hunt. There [are] not [many] bigger [stars] than Rey Mysterio and I beat him, so Id love to be competing for the World Heavyweight Championship. Along the way theres a lot of guys Id like to compete with too; Ive been telling guys for time now that Id really like to compete with Kane. Hes such a fixture of the WWE Universe and Id love to give him the same treatment I gave Rey Mysterio. The old is going and the new is comingI really like that.
Mick Foley is scheduled to return to TNA Wrestling programming at next Monday's iMPACT! taping in Orlando, Florida.
He was originally scheduled to appear at the April 20 iMPACT! taping, but it was canceled due to miscommunication. Foley indicated last week on Twitter that he would like to appear at Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's birthday celebration, which takes place this Monday night on Raw. It is said that TNA officials were okay with him appearing at the event, but WWE declined.
