3 wrestlers mogen geen misstap meer begaan

Chavo Guerrero one strike away from being fired

Dave Meltzer confirms in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that former ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero is actually one drug test failure away from an automatic termination from World Wrestling Entertainment, not two. The other two wrestlers in the company in the same uneasy position are of course Jeff Hardy and William Regal.

Big Show has been telling people that he will be starring in a new WWE Film project soon. Apparently the movie will be a comedy crossed between "The Waterboy" and "Kingpin."

Wie wordt de nieuwe GM van RAW?

News on the next RAW General Manager
Posted by Randy Gordon on 05/22/2008 at 02:47 PM

    Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

The WWE site has a poll on the front page asking fans as to who they would like to see as the new General Manager of Raw. The options are Vickie Guerrero, Ted DiBiase, Vince McMahon and Theodore Long. McMahon is winning the poll with 45% of the vote, followed by DiBiase, Long and Guerrero in that order.

Deuce, Domino & Maryse def. Jesse, Festus & Cherry
    Finlay def. Chuck Palumbo
    Batista def. MVP
    Vladimir Kozlov def. Nunzio
United States Champion Matt Hardy & Kofi Kingston def. Shelton Benjamin & Elijah Burke
    Undertaker def. Chavo Guerrero

DES MOINES, Iowa – With just nine days until One Night Stand, Batista sent a strong message to his Stretcher Match opponent, Shawn Michaels, when he defeated MVP in convincing fashion on SmackDown after a thunderous Batista Bomb. (WATCH)

Earlier in the night, MVP welcomed former SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long to his VIP Lounge, with the hopes that Long could shed some light on his reasons for quitting as Vickie Guerrero’s assistant, and his appearance this past Monday on Raw. But the brazen MVP couldn’t resist the opportunity to berate Long for his perceived mistreating of the highest paid Superstar on Friday Night SmackDown.

Montel Vontavious Porter went so far as to accuse Theodore of being jealous of his, “good looks, money and clothes.” When Long attempted to avoid the confrontation, MVP grabbed his former boss by the tie, prompting Batista to make his way to the ring. The Animal offered a thank you to Long, and then turned his attentions to the cocky MVP. Batista told MVP to keep his hands off Long, and when the Ballin’ Superstar accused The Animal of disrespecting him, the VIP Lounge was redecorated by Batista’s rage. (WATCH)

MVP immediately stormed into GM Guerrero’s office, where he was told he would face Batista one-on-one, a match MVP won't soon forget. But it was the dominating fashion of Batista’s win that should have Raw’s Shawn Michaels paying attention, because The Animal is focused and ready to do whatever it takes to claim victory in the Stretcher Match. The question now is – how far will HBK go?

    Rasta revenge
After suffering his first loss this past Tuesday on ECW on Sci Fi, Kofi Kingston teamed with United States Champion Matt Hardy to take on Shelton Benjamin & Elijah Burke. The heated rivalry between Kingston and Benjamin has only increased, and the Gold Standard was hoping to make it two in a row over the Jamaican Superstar. Hardy & Kingston, however, had plans of their own, and when the U.S. Champion tossed Burke to the outside, Kingston took advantage and leveled Benjamin with a spinning heel kick to get back on the winning track.

    Cracked in the mouth
As color commentator Mick Foley pointed out on SmackDown, it had been some time since Deuce & Domino felt the thrills of victory in WWE. The duo from the Other Side of the Tracks was intent on putting an end to their downward spiral when they teamed with Maryse to take on Jesse, Festus & Cherry in a Mixed Tag Team Match. When the action between Deuce & Domino and Jesse & Festus spilled to the outside, Maryse took advantage, kicking Cherry in the face to get the win. (WATCH) Read more: Cherry receives Maryse's sweet kick

    From Moscow, with pain
The monster from Moscow, Vladimir Kozlov, kept his undefeated streak intact on SmackDown when he decimated Nunzio in a one-on-one contest. Kozlov continues to impress as he steamrolls his competition, and Nunzio was the latest Superstar to fall victim to Kozlov’s power. (WATCH)

    Misty eyes are smiling
Chuck Palumbo arrived in Des Moines looking to continue the roll he has been on lately, as he stepped into the ring with Finlay. Palumbo was in control for much of the match, but Finlay’s son, Hornswoggle, turned the tide for his father. The pint-sized Superstar sprayed green mist into the eyes of Palumbo, allowing the Irishman to nail his opponent with the shillelagh to get the win.

    Thwarted plans
After General Manager Vickie Guerrero announced that Edge would face Undertaker in a TLC Match at One Night Stand (WATCH), she placed her nephew Chavo Guerrero in a one-on-one match on SmackDown. Edge assured Chavo that he, Curt Hawkins, Zack Ryder & Bam Neely would all watch the former ECW Champion’s back, but Edge, Hawkins & Ryder found themselves ejected from ringside. With the distractions gone, The Phenom sent a message to Edge when he Tombstoned Chavo to get the win.

NEWS AND VIDEO FROM THURSDAY'S "iMPACT!" BROADCAST ON SPIKE TV: AJ GETS ANNIHILATED, STING INTERVIEW CONTINUES, MORE ABYSS VIDEO
    By Bill Banks

There are several major news items to report from Thursday's "iMPACT!" broadcast as Total Nonstop Action heads towards the "Slammiversary" Pay-Per-View on Sunday, June 8!

    - The first King Of The Mountain Qualifying Matches were held on "iMPACT!", with Robert Roode advancing to the Slammiversary main event after he narrowly beat Matt Morgan.

    - In the second KOTM qualfier, Booker T was able to beat AJ Styles after Tomko cost AJ the bout. The big news came after the match, as Tomko, Booker and Team 3D attempted to annihilate Styles. Karen Angle tried to help AJ, eventually bringing out her estranged husband Kurt Angle to chase off his attackers. However, after Kurt saw Karen holding AJ in her arms, the Olympic gold medalist instead joined in on the attack on The Phenomenal One to end the broadcast! Earlier in the night, Karen turned down Kurt's pleas to come home - and Kurt apparently snapped when he saw Karen with AJ and assumed they have been seeing each other.

    - In addition, during an in-ring interview with TNA World Champion Samoa Joe, his mentor Kevin Nash became irate after Joe didn't select him to compete for a spot in the King Of The Mountain match. According to Nash, he wants a shot at the World Title - and his patience is wearing thin with Samoa Joe!

    - Also on the broadcast, TNA World Tag Team Champion Homicide of the Latin American Xchange defeated Team 3D's Brother Ray by disqualification after Brother Devon interfered. Hernandez came out to even the odds, but Booker T join Team 3D in the beatdown on LAX.

    - TNA Women's Champion Awesome Kong is apparently looking for new competition in TNA and has started to challenge anyone in the audience to battle her!

    - Angelina Love defeated ODB with outside assistance from her Beautiful People partner Velvet Sky. Roxxi came out to get her revenge and attempted to cut Angelina's hair, but The Beautiful People escaped.

    - Jay Lethal and SoCal Val announced that Ace Young from American Idol would be in attendance on Thursday's broadcast and the Slammiversary PPV!

    - Also on the broadcast, more footage aired of Abyss as well as the exclusive sitdown interview with Sting. You can check out the footage above.

The Miz def. ECW Champion Kane
    Shelton Benjamin def. Kofi Kingston
Kelly Kelly & Colin Delaney def. Layla & Mike Knox
    Armando Estrada  def. Colin Delaney
John Morrison & Chavo Guerrero def. CM Punk & Tommy Dreamer

DES MOINES, Iowa – Kofi Kingston’s long undefeated streak came to a crashing halt at the hands of Shelton Benjamin on ECW on Sci Fi. The Jamaican Superstar, who won every Extreme match since his ECW debut in January, lost to the Gold Standard. The third time must be the Golden charm for Benjamin. Kingston defeated him twice on ECW, but Benjamin delivered on his vow to end Kingston’s impressive winning streak.

In mixed tag team action on ECW, Kelly Kelly & Colin Delaney faced off against Layla & Mike Knox. Kelly Kelly dominated over her former friend, pinning Layla to win the match. But after the bell, Knox attacked ECW newcomer, Delaney, and laid him out in the ECW ring.

Just when Delaney’s luck couldn’t get any worse, ECW General Manager Armando Estrada marched into the ring, ordering Knox & Layla to leave because he was about to have an unscheduled match against the youngster. As Kelly Kelly watched at ringside, Delaney was once again battered and beaten by the ripped GM. (WATCH)

Just 48 hours after their tag match at Judgment Day, The Miz met ECW Champion Kane on Tuesday night. Despite a concussion, sore back, stiff neck and constant headaches, one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions was ready to seek retribution for being brutally chokeslammed by Kane at Judgment Day. The Miz was victorious by disqualification, but he wasn’t celebrating when The Big Red Machine chokeslammed him once again.

Finally, Estrada announced that four former ECW World Champions will compete in a Singapore Cane Match at One Night Stand for the No. 1 contendership for the ECW title. But on ECW on Sci Fi, John Morrison & Chavo Guerrero teamed up against CM Punk & Tommy Dreamer in a tag match that was interrupted in a “Big” way.

Update on The Coach's status with WWE

Update on The Coach's status with WWE

    Credit: Gerweck.net

As previously reported, Jonathan Coachman has yet to sign a contract with ESPN, but is hopeful a deal can be completed soon. In the meantime, Coachman has had talks with MSG network about working full-time with them, but most are expecting him to end up with ESPN. His WWE contract expires in August, and he still on good terms with them, reports the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. No one expects him to return to WWE, so its possible WWE could release him early to sign with ESPN or MSG.

Mr. Kennedy def. William Regal (Loser Gets Fired No Disqualification Match)
Randy Orton & JBL def. WWE Champion Triple H & John Cena

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – On a night when the face of One Night Stand took shape with numerous blockbuster matches added to the Extreme Rules pay-per-view – including a Last Man Standing WWE Championship Match – King of the Ring and General Manager William Regal found himself out of a job.

In the Raw main event, Regal’s final decree as General Manager played out well for Randy Orton & JBL, who defeated The Game & John Cena in a tag team battle, ensuring they would get their desired rematches at One Night Stand – with extreme stipulations of their choosing. JBL informed Cena that they would do battle in the gruesome First Blood Match (Read full story), while Randy Orton told WWE Champion Triple H that the title would be up for grabs in a Last Man Standing Match – the same contest Orton prevailed in over The Game at No Mercy in October. (Read full story)

After announcing that WWE Champion Triple H would team with John Cena to take on Randy Orton & JBL in the main event to determine their One Night Stand fate, the Raw General Manager was interrupted by Mr. Kennedy. The brash Superstar has shown little respect for Regal’s tyrannical rule over Raw for the past few weeks, and Kennedy once again challenged the GM’s authority Monday night.

William Regal besmirched Kennedy’s challenge, and was going to wield more of his power, until Mr. McMahon made his way to the ring. The Chairman made it clear to Regal and our fans that the GM had run wild with power. Sending a message of his own and showing everyone where the true power lies, Mr. McMahon put Regal into the Loser Gets Fired No Disqualification Match. Kennedy defeated Regal, unseating the iron-fisted ruler and opening the door for a new regime at Raw’s helm. As Regal tried to talk to Mr. McMahon about what had transpired, irony befriended the Brit as he ran into former Assistant General Manager of SmackDown Theodore Long, who quit his job just days earlier. Regal had already crossed paths earlier in the night in his former office with the "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase, who had business with The Chairman.

    Stretch it out
Batista has vowed to hurt Shawn Michaels the next time the two come face-to-face, and The Animal moved one step closer when he defeated Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho on Raw. Batista earned the right to fight HBK in a Stretcher Match at One Night Stand – a night he hopes to fulfill his promises of pain to Michaels. Will The Animal finally find retribution against Shawn Michaels or will HBK find a way to win once more? Read the full story…

    Hurtin’ Hardy
Since his surprise return last week on Raw, Jeff Hardy has been intent on proving himself in the ring, focusing his energy on climbing back to the top of WWE. On Raw, Hardy faced Umaga, the man he defeated in his return, but there was no victory for Hardy this week, just punishment. The Samoan Bulldozer took the fight to the outside of the ring, where he devastated Jeff with a sidewalk slam. Moments after the match, it was announced that these two rivals would go head-to-head in a Falls Count Anywhere Match at One Night Stand. Read the full story...

    Unfinished business
After her unsuccessful attempt to recapture the Women’s Championship at Judgment Day, Beth Phoenix arrived on Raw looking to reestablish her dominance in the women’s division. Maria’s recent in-ring improvement was no match for the power of The Glamazon, who dominated Maria en route to victory. Phoenix’s former friend, Melina, who had been sitting at ringside doing commentary, rushed up the ramp after the match looking to settle the score, before being separated by WWE officials, as the rivalry between the two heats up. What is next as Beth continues to hunt the gold, while Melina hunts her?

Speaking of the gold, Women’s Champion Mickie James may not know what is next, but Katie Lea Burchill let Mickie know she, too, had title aspirations. Burchill told James that she will one day be champion. The British Diva then accused Mickie James of using her friendship with John Cena to make her way to the top. Are Mickie James’ golden days numbered?

    Santino is the pits
While our fans looked forward to seeing WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper host Piper’s Pit, Santino Marella furthered his rivalry with “Hot Rod” when he mocked the legendary sports-entertainer and the famed Pit. After Piper paid a special visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live last week to prevent Santino from assaulting Cousin Sal, Marella looked to embarrass both men in return. Instead, Cousin Sal and Piper turned the tables, leaving Santino covered in cake. Santino then challenged Cousin Sal to a match, which was instantly accepted by Roddy Piper on Sal’s behalf.

Edge, Vickie Guerrero, Curt Hawkins, Zack Ryder, Chavo Guerrero & Bam Neely vs. Undertaker in a 6-on-1 Handicap Match (no contest)

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In just two days at Judgment Day, Edge and Undertaker will battle to determine who will walk away with the vacant World Heavyweight Championship. But the two former champions aren’t the only ones looking to settle scores with their rivals at Judgment Day.

Ever since losing to Shawn Michaels at Backlash, Batista has vowed to hurt Michaels if The Animal found out HBK faked an injury in their match. Earlier this week on Raw, HBK finally admitted he did feign his injury. (WATCH) Then, in front of our fans on SmackDown, an angry Batista delivered a stern warning for HBK at Judgment Day. (WATCH) On Sunday, will The Animal finally deliver on his promise to hurt HBK?

    Long gone
While Edge explained his good fortune to be able to compete in – and win – last week’s Championship Chase to Judgment Day, SmackDown Assistant General Manager Theodore Long interrupted with big news. Long relayed a message from the WWE Board of Directors –  because of General Manager Vickie Guerrero’s controversial decision to strip Undertaker of the World Heavyweight Championship, she would have to compete in a match on SmackDown or relinquish her role as GM. But that was only the beginning of the phenomenal announcements from Long. (WATCH)

    Time to cash in?
Mr. Money in the Bank CM Punk looked to be in good form, as he put away tough guy Chuck Palumbo with a hard-hitting Go to Sleep. With the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships being contested in just two days at Judgment Day, will Punk look to cash in his Money in the Bank contract for an opportunity at either title?

    Hook, line and sink her
All-American Girl Michelle McCool proved she has more than just good looks and good moves in the ring. She also knows a submission hold or two. Using a heel hook, McCool forced Layla to tap out. This was her second win of the week, including a tag team win on ECW on Sci Fi. (ECW Results)

    Most valuable big man
In a tag team match set by the GM, Montel Vontavious Porter was forced to face unlikely partners, Big Show & Finlay. Leading up to the match, MVP’s choice for a partner was unknown until the start of bout. Although MVP chose World’s Strongest Man Mark Henry to be at his side, it was The World’s Largest Athlete who proved to be the more dominant force in the ring and help his team win. (WATCH the Alka-Seltzer Speedy Recap)

    7-0
Luck had nothing to do with Vladimir Kozlov’s seventh straight win on SmackDown. Using raw power, the big man from Moscow manhandled Funaki, finishing him off with a vicious reverse DDT.  With chants of “USA” emanating from the arena during his entrance, the big man may be picking up victories, but he does not appear to be winning over many fans. However, fan support seems to be of little concern to the 300-pound man-machine who continues his path of destruction through the land of SmackDown.

    Take that!
With ex-boyfriend Deuce and brother Domino looking on, Cherry picked up her second win of the week by defeating Maryse. (WATCH) Earlier in the week, Cherry picked up a tag team win on ECW on Sci Fi. They say breaking up is hard to do, but Cherry seems to be doing all right without Deuce & Domino at her side.

    Controlling fate
ECW’s Shelton Benjamin paid a visit to the land of SmackDown, but things didn’t go so well, as United States Champion Matt Hardy put away the Gold Standard with a Twist of Fate. With Hardy enjoying success as reigning United States Champion, who will be the next to challenge him?

    Familiar fear
In what was supposed to be a six-man advantage, Edge, Curt Hawkins, Zack Ryder & GM Vickie Guerrero faced Undertaker without the help of Chavo Guerrero & Bam Neely, who both walked out of the arena before the encounter with The Deadman. As The Phenom stared down his opponents before the match, the look of fear was clear in all of their eyes. As Undertaker unleashed his fury, his four opponents did their best to protect the GM from his wrath. But before a winner could be decided, the Ultimate Opportunist and his partners found a way to escape the ring, and also preserve the GM’s job. But come Judgment Day, there will be no escape and one man will become the new World Heavyweight Champion.

    Cena vs The rock 2

John Cena speaks out against The Rock again

The Sun has a new interview with John Cena. He had a lot to say regarding Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, noting that Johnson always wanted to be an actor and that he set the precedent of using professional wrestling as a stepping stone. Cena said, "...And Rock is one of those guy who gave the 'I've wanted to do this all my life' speech, but in actuality he wanted to be an actor. Now trust me, that is totally fine with me. It's OK. But just don't say one thing and do another. Because our fans are extremely loyal and when you do that it pisses me off." Cena also added, "All of us work so hard to make the show as good as it can be. So it's hard when people give the impression of 'this is the greatest gig in the world' and then jump ship to make movies. Now I have every interviewer in the world asking me when I'm leaving to make movies." A closing remark on the subject: "And the answer is I'm never doing that, because I love wrestling more than I do movies." "It's guys like that who set the precedent of using wrestling as a stepping stone to do films. But there's no controversy to any of that—as Rock is a successful actor and that's what he has always wanted to be." Cena also talks about filming his latest movie, the WWE-produced "12 Rounds" flick, Flair's induction speech, the card at Judgment Day, and more. Cena speaks positively on John Morrison. "I’m actually quite interested in seeing The Miz and John Morrison in a high profile PPV match against Kane and CM Punk. I've never really been a fan of Morrison, but I always thought he had a lot of potential. I hope he understands the opportunity he’s getting and steps up to the plate."

TNA toont interesse voor de ultimate warrior

TNA interested in the Ultimate Warrior

    Credit: Dave Meltzer

Some people are wondering about the Ultimate Warrior's name being mentioned on TNA Impact this week. We can confirm that TNA is interested in Warrior and has made inquires. We don't know where things stand as far as if a deal is done. Usually the way it goes is that you don't say something on television unless you have the deal done, but TNA does feel the need for anything to get people talking. Warrior is training with Rob Van Dam to return to wrestling in late June for NWE in Madrid, Spain.

UPDATE van Bobby Lashley naar TNA

Update on Bobby Lashley in TNA

TNA officials are hopeful that former WWE star Bobby Lashley signs with them because they see him as another big name with star power. Kurt Angle and Booker T have been doing their best to recruit him for the company. Most sources believe that it's only a matter of time before Lashley joins TNA. Lashley has also had some discussions with the NWE promotion (the promotion Ultimate Warrior is returning to) and Mexico's AAA promotion.

NEWS AND VIDEO FROM THURSDAY’S “iMPACT!” ON SPIKE TV – ABYSS FOOTAGE, JAY AND VAL ARE GETTING MARRIED, THE ROAD TO SLAMMIVERSARY BEGINS AND MUCH MORE!
    By Bill Banks

There are several major news items to report from Thursday’s “iMPACT!” on SpikeTV, including updates on the upcoming “Slammiversary” Pay-Per-View event on Sunday, June 8!

    - During an in-ring interview, TNA World Heavyweight Champion Samoa Joe announced he would be defending the gold in the annual “King Of The Mountain” match at the Slammiversary PPV. Qualifying matches will take place on “iMPACT!” to determine who will challenge Joe for the championship at the epic event.

    - Thus far, we know that TNA Management Director Jim Cornette has selected the following names to take part in the qualifying: Robert Roode, James Storm, Matt Morgan and Tomko. Samoa Joe will pick an additional four names next Thursday night!

    - Speaking of the King Of The Mountain qualifying – Booker T threatened Samoa Joe to pick him as one of the four names – or else! The showdown resulted in that night’s main event where Joe teamed with Rhino and Christian Cage to face Team 3D and Booker T. Joe won the bout for his team after beating Brother Devon. Following the bout, Team 3D brutally attacked the LAX’s Hector Guerrero and left him a bloody mess to end the broadcast!

    - Speaking of the new TNA World Tag Team Champions LAX, they defeated The Motor City Machineguns on Thursday’s broadcast.

    - The team of “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal, “The Guru” Sonjay Dutt and Kaz defeated The Rock N’ Rave Infection and Johnny Devine, but the big news came after the bout as Jay Lethal popped the big question and asked SoCal Val to marry him! Val agreed – and the two TNA superstars will walk the aisle at the Slammiversary Pay-Per-View to tie the knot as man and wife!

    - On the other hand, it was Kurt Angle who was trying to put his marriage back together on Thursday’s broadcast. Kurt came to the ring and read a letter he had written to his wife Karen, asking her to come back home. Kurt asked Karen to be in attendance on next Thursday’s “iMPACT!” to give him an answer.

    - In the TNA Women’s Title match, it was Awesome Kong beating Gail Kim after Angelina Love of “The Beautiful People” interfered. As a result of the interference, Gail injured her knee and required assistance to leave the ring!

    - Later on the broadcast, “The Beautiful People” of Angelina Love and Velvet Sky defeated the team of ODB and Roxxi.

    - A video of Abyss aired on the broadcast, as well as a special sitdown interview with the icon Sting.

WWE Tag Team Champion The Miz def. CM Punk
Kelly Kelly, Michelle McCool & Cherry def. Layla, Victoria & Natalya
    Mike Knox def. Colin Delaney
    Armando Estrada def. Colin Delaney
WWE Tag Team Champion John Morrison def. ECW Champion Kane

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Whether it was a monster, a chick magnet, veterans, newcomers or Divas, the Land of the Extreme was full on conflict on the road to Judgment Day.

It’s official – Colin Delaney has signed on the dotted line and is now an ECW Superstar. But is the youngster truly ready for the Land of the Extreme? After his brand-new entrance music blared throughout the arena, Delaney had his first match as an active member of the ECW roster. He faced someone who brutally beat him mere weeks ago – Mike Knox – and once again Delaney found himself in the losing corner. But the beating didn’t stop there.

Delaney isn’t the newest active member of the ECW roster, however – Armando Estrada is. Delaney defeated the General Manager last week to earn his ECW contract, and the super-ripped Estrada was out for revenge on Tuesday night. Fresh off his loss to Knox, Delaney remained in the Extreme ring to face the GM. This time, a strong Estrada came out on top, leading to Delaney’s second loss of the evening. Is the Land of the Extreme too much for Delaney to handle? (WATCH)

Also on Tuesday night, several SmackDown Divas made a special appearance on ECW in a Six Diva Tag Team Match. Kelly Kelly, Michelle McCool and Cherry faced Layla, Victoria and Natalya. Now that she’s single and focusing her attention on the ring (rather than Deuce & Domino), Cherry’s proving herself as a worthy opponent. SmackDown’s shy sweetie picked up the win for her trio when she pinned the ruthless Victoria.

Diva Lena Yada spoke to a determined Shelton Benjamin on ECW on Tuesday night. The Gold Standard claimed that the next time he faces the undefeated Kofi Kingston, he will beat the Jamaican Superstar. But Kingston overheard Benjamin’s comments and said, “Let me be the first one to say ‘good luck.’” Then Kingston leveled Benjamin, leaving him writhing in pain on the ground.

Finally, in a preview of sorts of Sunday’s Judgment Day, WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison individually faced Mr. Money in the Bank CM Punk and ECW Champion Kane, respectively. The Tag Champs proved their dominance, as The Miz and Morrison both picked up wins.

    Mysterio Involved In China Earthquake

    Mysterio Involved In China Earthquake

WWE.com has an article up noting that during Rey Mysterio's current media tour of China, a 7.8 earthquake devastated the nation’s southwestern Sichuan province today killing more than 8,500 people. Mysterio was at a media event in Xian, China when the earthquake hit. He was unharmed, evacuated and brought back to his hotel where he was put on the first floor for safety reasons. Mysterio currently can't leave the country as all flights have been grounded and it is likely the media tour will be cut short.

World Tag Team Champions Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes def. Carlito & Santino Marella
    Mr. Kennedy def. Snitsky
Maria & Ashley def. Melina & Beth Phoenix
    Jeff Hardy def. Umaga
Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch def. Cryme Tyme
    Randy Orton def. John Cena

DETROIT – Monday was a night of returns as both John Cena and Jeff Hardy appeared on their first edition of Raw after lengthy absences.

Hardy began his comeback by addressing our fans, explaining that he made a mistake and he paid for it.

“Now that I’m back,” he said, “I have a lot of things to do.”

Before he could announce his plans to regain the Intercontinental Championship, Raw General Manager William Regal turned off his microphone and instantly threw him into a match against Umaga. Despite being caught off guard, Hardy rose to the challenge and surprised the Samoan Bulldozer and the general manager with a victory.

Monday marked Hardy's first appearance since before WrestleMania XXIV. No doubt Hardy has expectations for at least an Intercontinental Championship on the way to WrestleMania XXV. (WATCH)

    Golden “pipe” dreams
Carlito & Santino Marella entered the first match of the evening with the opportunity to win the World Tag Team Championship from Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes. Despite not seeing eye-to-eye lately, Santino invited WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper to watch from the best seats in the house at the announcers’ table. Unfortunately for “Can-tino” and his partner, that wasn’t close enough for Piper, who spoiled the tag team’s dreams for the gold.

During the contest, Hot Rod decided to get involved, offering a metaphoric slap in the face to go along with the physical one he provided two weeks earlier. It was distraction enough for Rhodes to take advantage and pick up the victory to retain the titles.

Marella met up with Piper in the locker room later in the night, promising the Legend that he will get payback.

    Swan song
Lance Cade hasn’t been shy about his frustrations with Trevor Murdoch and the tag teams’ lack of recent success. The sun shined on Cade & Murdoch on Raw, though, as Murdoch notched the three-count to defeat Cryme Tyme in quick fashion, appearing to be back on the winning track. Murdoch sang Kenny Rogers’ “The Gambler” in celebration. Cade seemed to enjoy his teammate’s spirit, but the mood soon changed when he took out all of his pent up aggression on Murdoch, ending the concert early and leaving Murdoch licking his wounds. (WATCH)

    High tension
A week after Beth Phoenix took an apparently accidental boot to the face from Melina, the two Divas had a chance to put water under the bridge and prove they could coexist against a Playboy cover girl and the Women’s Champion. But Maria & Mickie James were as hot as ever, and so was the tension between Melina & Beth.

Maria & Mickie coasted to victory after Beth left Melina’s side. When Melina approached her tag team partner afterward, The Glamazon accused her of hitting her with the boot last week on purpose. Melina attacked in response, but Beth took control until Jillian and multiple referees pulled her off.

    Mind games and fat lips
Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho offered his apologies to Shawn Michaels for accusing him of feigning an injury. He also gave him a chance to back out of their match this Sunday at Judgment Day. The apology turned out to be too soon, though. HBK joined Jericho in the ring, only to admit he in fact did fake his knee injury. When Y2J thought Michaels was simply playing mind games, The Showstopper backed up his confession with some Sweet Chin Music, assuring that their Judgment Day confrontation would happen. (WATCH)

    Talking the talk
Mr. Kennedy was loud as ever after consecutive weeks of cutting off William Regal with his notorious antics on Raw. Kennedy defeated Snitsky in convincing fashion and is not likely to leave Regal alone anytime soon, as the Superstar is still upset he was not included in the King of the Ring tournament that the general manager won.

    Rainy return
Our Detroit fans were lucky enough to see John Cena’s first Raw since Backlash after receiving a punt in the head from Randy Orton in the WWE Championship Fatal Four Way Elimination Match. (WATCH)

Cena made waves when he confronted Regal to kick off the evening, but that ended in the main event contest between Cena and Orton. Guest referee – and Cena’s Judgment Day opponent – John “Bradshaw” Layfield called a quick three-count to give Orton the win, spoiling Cena’s homecoming. Orton’s celebration didn’t last for long, though, as WWE Champion Triple H got involved to spoil the party.
