WWE Star Looking to Cross Over to MMA Posted by Steve Carrier on 04/20/2011 at 10:40 PM
Seldom seen WWE talent Harry Smith (a/k/a David Hart Smith) apparently has plans to cross over from professional wrestling to mixed martial arts. His mother, Diana Smith, wrote on Twitter that he plans on following his father and grandfather's trail as a shoot fighter.
"My son Harry Smith is quite the shoot fighter, does everyone know that?" she wrote. "He is following in his dad Davey's and Grandfather Stu's footsteps."
Diana also believes he is good enough to compete in a premiere mixed martial arts organization today.
"I actually think my son Harry Smith could compete in Pride, MMA/UFC now as a high level wrestler, he's honestly that good! Ask Josh Barnett."
Barnett, a former UFC Heavyweight Champion, said last year in an interview that he has been training the WWE Superstar in catch wrestling. Smith can be seen sparring with Barnett in the DVD seminar W.A.R. Catch Wrestling: Lessons in Catch-As-Catch-Can with Billy Robinson.
CagesideSeats.com reported last month that Smith became an assistant coach in the Scientific Wrestling certification program under Catch-As-Catch-Can-Wrestling legend Billy Robinson. Smith earned the designation after logging over 100 hours of training with Robinson and receiving his approval to teach his concepts.
Robinson stated to Wrestling Observer Newsletter editor Dave Meltzer that if he personally trained Smith for 18 months, he could win the UFC Heavyweight Championshiphe was that impressed by him in the time they sparred.
Smith, however, remains under contract to WWE, which prohibits him from joining a mixed martial arts organization. While no indication has been given that the third generation wrestler is leaving WWE, his future prospects with the entertainment empire appear grim as he finds himself in a bigger rut than his 2007-2008 stint on the main roster where he primarily competed on WWE Heat. Sans an appearance in the 22-Man Battle Royal at WrestleMania XXVII, Smith has not competed in over two months; his last match occurred on the February 17, 2011 episode of WWE Superstars. Even further, Smith has not competed in a match on Monday Night Raw in nearly six months. He last appeared on the program on December 6, 2010, which saw him lose to former tag team partner Tyson Kidd in a blow off match. He was then laid out by Kidd's short-lived bodyguard Jackson Andrews.

-- WWE recently filed for the trademark "Kharma." According to PWInsider.com, this will be the new in-ring name for Awesome Kong. The trademark was reportedly filed last Tuesday (April 12th.)
WWE aired the first promo video for Kong on last week's RAW.
-- On Monday's episode of RAW, Dolph Ziggler showed of a completely new look and a "new attitude." Ziggler's long blonde hair is gone and he now has very short brown hair. We did not see much of a new attitude from Ziggler, but it appears his character is in the midst of an overhaul.
Sean Waltman reprised his 1-2-3 Kid character over the weekend at the CHIKARA King of Trios tournament in Philadelphia, PA. Waltman used his old tights and shaved to create the complete look. You can check out a pic of Waltman as the 1-2-3 Kid below:
John Morrison def. R-Truth Dolph Ziggler def. Evan Bourne John Cena & Sin Cara def. WWE Champion The Miz & Alex Riley Eve def. Nikki Bella U.S. Champion Sheamus def. Santino Marella Randy Orton def. CM Punk
Raw results: Union jerk By: Greg Adkins April 18, 2011 Tags: Raw: April 18, 2011 LONDON - All of Britain is abuzz. No, not with news of the impending, historic royal nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Rather, Englands lads and lasses are chinwagging over the latest brilliant and barmey happenings on Raw less than two weeks before Extreme Rules.
Randy Orton def. CM Punk (WATCH | PHOTOS) Who knew The Viper could play possum so well? As tensions continue to mount between Randy Orton and CM Punk, the two met head on in the nights explosive main event. Fierce competitors, The Viper and The Second City Savior traded blows as well as momentum throughout the bout. In the end, Orton turned the tables on his preachy opponent and capitalized for the win. Unfortunately for Orton, The New Nexus crashed the victory party.
Punks New Nexus disciples surrounded the ring and closed ranks around their prey. After pummeling Orton and leaving him seemingly unconscious on the canvas, The New Nexus cleared a path for Mason Ryan to deliver the final nail in the coffin. The Second City Savior waved him off, though, intent on punishing Orton himself. As he steamed toward the lifeless body, however, WWEs Apex Predator snapped to life. He leveled Punk with a shocking RKO before slithering from the ring and leaving The New Nexus stunned and scrambling for answers.
U.S. Champion Sheamus def. Santino Marella (WATCH | PHOTOS) The last time Raw broadcast from London, Santino Marella had invited U.S. Champion Sheamus for tea and embarrassed The Celtic Warrior. This time, however, the Irishman was in no mood for a cup of Earl Grey. Instead, he forced the Italian to choke down a heaping helping of humility.
One week before the WWE Draft, Sheamus showed his dominance for all of England and the world to see by making quick work of the recently ascendant Santino.
Michael Cole got knighted (WATCH | PHOTOS) Sir Michael Cole? Sounds about as plausible as Grammy-winner R-Truth, right? Well, the cheese-eating announcer had his Extreme Rules tag team partner, Jack Swagger, join him as a woman, who looked vaguely like the Queen of England, entered the ring and allegedly knighted him.
Afterward, Cole and Swagger provoked their Extreme Rules opponents, Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross. Sir Cole commanded The All-American American to attack, prompting him to toss Lawler over the announce table and forcing Good Ol J.R. to kiss Coles feet. Yes, his feet!
Eve def. Nikki Bella (WATCH | PHOTOS) After Twin Magic cost her the Divas Championship last week, Eve appeared eager to make one of The Bellas disappear. As Nikki faced the Latina lovely, her sister and current Divas Champion, Brie Bella, looked on with great interest. This week, however, The Bellas lost their magic and underhanded touch. Instead, Eve toppled Nikki with ease and let it be known to Brie that she would be gunning to reclaim the butterfly title.
John Cena & Sin Cara def. WWE Champion The Miz & Alex Riley (WATCH | PHOTOS) Even in England, The Miz continues to be the biggest of royal pains. The WWE Champion whined on and on about John Morrison replacing R-Truth in his Triple Threat Steel Cage Match at Extreme Rules. During the temper tantrum, WWEs latest sensation, Sin Cara, approached the ring to prepare for his match with Mizs lackey, Alex Riley. Soon after, John Cena joined the fray as Raws anonymous General Manager quickly interrupted and arranged a tag team match pitting Cena & Sin Cara against Miz & Riley.
The Cenation Commander-in-Chief softened up his Extreme Rules rival as well as Riley. Sin Cara then used his acrobatic antics against Riley, who succumbed to the international wonder with a three-count.
2011 WWE Draft to take place next week It's one of the most highly-anticipated nights of the year for the WWE Universe. And one of the most unsettling for Superstars. Next week, Monday Night Raw hosts the 2011 WWE Draft. Who will leave Monday nights and who will join the Raw roster? Tune in to find out!
Dolph Ziggler def. Evan Bourne (WATCH | PHOTOS) Perhaps theres validity to the old adage that hair makes the man. Debuting a new and improved look, Dolph Ziggler unveiled his freshly trimmed, brunette coif just before facing Evan Bourne. As his business associate, Vickie Guerrero, cheered him on, the updated Ziggler clipped Bournes wings and pinned him for the victory.
John Morrison def. R-Truth to earn a WWE Title opportunity (WATCH | PHOTOS) Warning: Smoking may cause loss of WWE Title opportunity. After securing a spot last week in the Triple Threat Steel Cage Match at Extreme Rules along with WWE Champion The Miz and John Cena, R-Truth came out in Londons O2 Arena to celebrate.
He was greeted by John Morrison, however, who unveiled footage from last weeks match of the rapping Superstar chugging water, sucking wind and appearing out of shape. The Shaman of Sexy derided his former tag team partner for his smoking habit and challenged him for his position in the title match.
Truth accepted a decision he would regret when Morrison prevailed and the rapping Superstar watched his title hopes go up in smoke. Afterward, a bitter Truth mercilessly attacked his opponent and, at one point, even grabbed cigarettes from an audience member and blew smoke in Morrisons face.

Much like the Anonymous General Manager on WWE's Monday Night RAW, TNA Wrestling has its own anonymous entity, The Network. TNAWrestling.com is teasing that the person pulling the strings may be revealed on Thursday's episode of Impact:
"The Network's latest mandate has Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff beside themselves and they demand to know who at The Network is involved. Will the Network finally reveal the one making all the controversial decisions?"
TNA will tape this week's episode of Impact tomorrow and next week's show on Wednesday.
