Update on Kevin Nash's TNA status Posted by Corbin Nordhoff on 01/20/2011 at 01:05 PM
In an interview with nacion.com, Kevin Nash talked about his current status in the wrestling industry.
Nash admitted that he is negotiating with TNA for a return. If he were to return to TNA, it would be for one year and he also be filming a movie around the same time.
Nash said that attending the WWE Hall of Fame would depend on whether he signs with TNA and also his filming schedule.
As noted before, TJ Perkins, El Generico and women's wrestler Divina Fly all received TNA tryout matches before the recent iMPACT tapings. Out of those three, it's said that Divina is the most likely to be signed to a deal.
According to SLAM! Wrestling, "Kevin Nash is expected to return to (TNA Wrestling)." He is still listed on TNAWrestling.com's roster section after his contract with the organization expired in October.

- Mason Ryan, who debuted last night on RAW with Nexus, is reportedly signed to a five-year deal with WWE that he inked back in 2009.
The current FCW Heavyweight Champion is also a former UK Gladiator, where he competed under the name Goliath. It was reported recently that WWE officials had big plans for Mason and are looking for him to fill the big man role that Batista once had.
Carrie sent word that Ryan calls his finishing move The House of Pain in FCW.
A few wrestlers jokingly commented on Ryan's debut on their Twitters:
FCW star Ken Li: "Big congrats to Mason Ryan!! Good seeing him on Raw!!"
Tyler Reks: "Big Barry, torture rack, break your back"
Zack Ryder: "What? Steve Blackman joined the Nexus tonight?"
Chris Jericho: "Interesting to see the debut of Batistwo tonight on Raw..."
- Immediately following Raw, Michael Cole announced that a 2-on-1 Handicap Match would take place with WWE Champion The Miz and CM Punk vs. John Cena because Randy Orton was unavailable. Babyface Raw wrestlers then came out and ran off The Nexus. Orton then came out to participate in the Match. Cena applied the STF on Punk, but Cole, the special guest referee, turned away. Orton and Cena argued with Cole, who replaced by another referee. The babyface tandem hit their respective finishers on Punk and The Miz for the win.
Identity of the Man in the M ain Event of RAW Posted by Steve Carrier on 01/17/2011 at 11:46 PM
The man who appeared on the apron tonight at the end of RAW to distract John Cena in his match with CM Punk was FCW Heavyweight Champion Mason Ryan. His real name is Barri Griffiths and he is originally from Wales.
Ryan appeared to be aligning himself with CM Punk until he laid Punk out with a big boot. Ryan then lifted up John Cena and laid him out with a big side slam.
Punk then got back in Ryan's face and they had a staredown. Ryan bowed to one knee in front of Punk and raised his fist. Punk then put the Nexus armband on Ryan, welcoming him to the group.
More on CM Punk's Fan Incident Last Night Posted by Steve Carrier on 01/17/2011 at 08:08 PM
It was reported here that CM Punk got into an altercation with a fan at Sunday's WWE super show event from Shreveport, Louisiana. A few fans who were at the show have sent in recaps of what went down and there are new details to report.
Following his match, CM Punk got in the faces of several fans at ringside, including a few young children. Punk told one of the kids, said to be around 10 years old, to slap him. The fan slapped Punk, who told the fan to slap him again. The fan complied, when Punk allegedly grabbed the child by the shirt and told him to do it again. The child began to cry and his parents began yelling at CM Punk. Punk was heard yelling that the child scratched his eye during the provoked attack.
Brother Ray Comments on Not Returning to WWE Posted by Steve Carrier on 01/18/2011 at 01:37 PM
- TNA star Brother Ray spoke with Alex Marvez of Scrippsnews.com earlier this month and had the following to say about one of the reasons Team 3D chose not to return to WWE:
"We made a lot of money, learned a lot of stuff and are very appreciative of everything we got in WWE. But if we go back, what tag teams are we going to work with? They could have thrown together some guys, but it would never have been like with those we worked with, like the Hardys, Edge and Christian, the Acolytes and Too Cool. One thing Devon and I are big on is never taking a step backward."
Ray also commented on John Cena:
"At the end of the day, our business is about storytelling. Take the No. 1 guy in the business today -- John Cena. How many moves does he have? Five? But you know what all five of those moves are. It's his character that's very well developed and has intriguing storylines. That's why people buy into him emotionally."

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - For John Cena, there was big trouble in Little Rock. First, the 2011 WWE Superstar of the Year found out that, instead of the usual 30 entrants, this years Royal Rumble will be the largest in WWE history with 40 Superstars with which to contend. Then, during the main event match against CM Punk, the returning Superstar got slammed to the mat by a mysterious mountain of a man, who had intervened on Punk's behalf. Who says bigger is always better?
CM Punk def. John Cena by Disqualification (WATCH | PHOTOS) The Second City Savior is going to need a larger house of worship. The main event pitted CM Punk against John Cena when a nameless colossus charged the ring and distracted the Cenation Commander-in-Chief. It would prove a costly diversion. Punk took advantage and hit his opponent with a punishing maneuver. Before Cena could recover, Punk stood before the interloper and sacrificed himself, allowing the oversized stranger to level him.
As a result, the leader of the new Nexus won the match by disqualification. When the remaining members of the group charged the ring, though, Punk waved them off. Instead, he pulled out a Nexus armband and slipped it onto the mystery man, who proceeded to genuflect before The Second City Savior.
Mark Henry won an Over-the-Top Rope Challenge (WATCH | PHOTOS) For the love of a good woman or in this case, a really bad one Ted DiBiase issued an Over-the-Top Rope Challenge. And Mark Henry was there to answer the call. In fact, during the contest, the two were joined by nine other Superstars, including King Sheamus, R-Truth, David Hart Smith, Darren Young, Yoshi Tatsu, Zack Ryder, Primo, William Regal and Tyson Kidd. Despite the crowded field of fellow Rumble competitors, The Worlds Strongest Man flipped his final opponent over the top rope to claim victory.
WWE Divas Champion Natalya def. Maryse (WATCH | PHOTOS) Natalya continues to steamroll the competition. This week, Maryse proved the latest to get flattened by the Divas Champion as Eve and Natties nemesis, Melina, observed from ringside. In the wake of her loss, Maryse demonstrated her frustration by pouting in a corner. She was soon joined by her boyfriend Ted DiBiase, who bore the brunt of her anger. After the bombastic blond blamed DiBiases losing streak for her own poor performance, The Fortunate Son threw out an Over-the-Top Rope Challenge for any Superstar on the roster. Unfortunately for him, Mark Henry answered the call.
Randy Orton def. Dolph Ziggler (WATCH | PHOTOS) WWE Champion The Miz isnt taking any chances. Randy Orton and Dolph Ziggler, No. 1 contenders for the WWE Title and World Heavyweight Title respectively, clashed in an intense, rapid-fire contest that finally saw Orton prevail with an RKO. After, the WWE Champion and his lackey, Alex Riley, not only waylayed The Viper, they also attacked Miz critic and Raw announcer Jerry The King Lawler.
Later in the evening, it was revealed that on Raw next week, Miz will be forced to square off in a battle of champions he battles World Heavyweight Champion Edge.
John Morrison def. U.S. Champion Daniel Bryan in a Non-Title Match (WATCH | PHOTOS) It was The Shaman of Sexy against the Bella magnet when John Morrison tangled with United States Champion Daniel Bryan in a non-title match. Bryan certainly showcased a series of amazing maneuvers, but it would be Morrisons athleticism that would triumph in the end.
Afterward, Morrisons rival, King Sheamus, emerged to bestow a royal proclamation upon the WWE Universe: Although Bryan, Morrison and he were all entrants in the Royal Rumble, it will be The Celtic Warrior who emerges victorious.
WWE Tag Team Champions Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov def. The Usos (WATCH | PHOTOS) After lending John Cena an assist against the new Nexus, WWE Tag Team Champions Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov were forced to defend their titles against The Usos. Although Jimmy & Jey came out swinging with Samoan swagger and offered an exemplary effort, the siblings still could not surmount the offense of the Italian Stallion & The Moscow Mauler.
John Cena returned to Raw, confronted WWE Champion The Miz and CM Punk; main event arranged (PHOTOS) John Cena is back! After two weeks of rehabilitation due to an injury suffered at the hands of CM Punk and the new Nexus, Cena rocked the rafters with his homecoming as 2011s WWE Superstar of the Year vowed to overcome his injuries to win Royal Rumble in two weeks and go on to win the WWE Title at WrestleMania. The current champion, The Miz, took issue. The Cleveland Screamer whined again about not being appreciated and informed Cena that the odds are against him winning the Rumble since there will now be 40 entrants as opposed to the usual 30.
Steepening the odds further, CM Punk approached to announce that he and the entire new Nexus will also participate in the Rumble and aim to secure the win for The Second City Savior. As if to demonstrate, Punk and his Nexus minions surrounded the ring. Before they could attack, however, WWE Tag Team Champions Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov joined forces with Cena. Retaliating for a Nexus ambush, Santino & Vlad were all too happy to stand with Cena. Before the situation could devolve further, the Raw General Manager altered the scheduled main event match pitting Cena against Punk, stipulating that if any Nexus members interfered, they would be eliminated from Rumble competition.
Update On The 40-Man Royal Rumble Posted by Dave Mitchell on 01/17/2011 at 04:55 PM
-- As previously reported, it's been announced that the 2011 Royal Rumble match will feature 40 competitors instead of the usual 30.
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross posted the following on Twitter @JRsBBQ regarding the news:
"If having 40 men in the Royal Rumble match helps sell ppvs, then its a really good idea. 40 sounds good to me. Makes the main event bigger."
After checking with a WWE source, it appears Ross' idea of selling more pay-per-views is exactly what WWE is going for by adding 10 more men to the match.
With 40 men involved in the Rumble, expect the interval between each man entering the match to be reduced from 2 minutes to 60-90 seconds.
WWE officially confirms 40-man Royal Rumble Posted by Roscoe De Soto on 01/17/2011 at 03:02 PM
From WWE.com:
Almost three decades ago, the dream of modern-day WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon was made manifest with the birth of the squared circles most celebrated spectacle, WrestleMania. More than a quarter of a century later, an unprecedented 40 Superstars will have the ultimate opportunity to realize their dream of performing in the World Championship main event match on this now aggrandized stage for the most brilliant competitors.
They can dance on The Grandest Stage of Them All at WrestleMania XXVII. But first, one man will need to surpass the efforts of 39 opposing competitors with the same aspiration in the 2011 Royal Rumble Match.
A celebrated tradition in WWE, the Rumble has boasted 30 men since 1989. Now, in 2011, the competition gets fiercer with an additional 10 gladiators, forging the biggest Rumble in history and guaranteeing not just a longer joust, but also more eliminations and over-the-top action.
A test of endurance, athleticism and survival at all costs, the Rumble Match is the definitive Battle Royal, where each Superstars prime objective is to propel their opponents over the top rope, with both feet touching the floor. Every 90 seconds, one of 40 elite ring warriors with randomly drawn Rumble entry numbers joins the fray. Though luck of the draw can be a critical factor in such a high-stakes situation (ideally, entering last like 2007 winner Undertaker and 2008 victor John Cena, both at No. 30), past Rumble winners have included Superstars who kicked off the Battle Royal at No. 1 (as seen in 1995 with Shawn Michaels).
But, with bodies being tossed out every moment and fresh competitors coming in at such a rapid pace, its really anyones match. (Watch a special look at the Rumble Match)
In the end, the last Superstar standing can officially punch a gold-embossed ticket to Atlanta's Georgia Dome, where they will contend for a World Title of their choosing at WrestleMania.
However, as the saying goes, You have to be in it to win it. Tune into WWE programming and stay logged on to WWE.com as entrants are named for the 24th annual Royal Rumble Match. Then be sure to witness this epic event live on pay-per-view on Sunday, Jan. 30, as the 2011 Royal Rumble defines the course of WWE's new year.
CM Punk Gets Punched in the Face by a Fan Posted by Steve Carrier on 01/17/2011 at 12:56 AM
Reader John sent in word that at the WWE Raw house show event tonight in Shreveport, Louisiana, a young fan got into an altercation with CM Punk and punched him the face. Punk's eye was reportedly bloodied, and the fan as well as the group he was with were thrown out of the building.
- For what it's worth, there's a story making the rounds that Shane Helms hasn't signed with TNA because his ex-girlfriend and current Knockout Velvet Sky has threatened to leave the company if he comes aboard. The story, which should be taken as a rumor for now, notes that the two had a nasty breakup and officials are more interested in keeping her than signing him.
- Stan sent word that there was 34 minutes and 22 seconds of in-ring action on this weekend's episode of Friday Night SmackDown, down from 59 minutes and 14 seconds last week.
Rey Mysterio & R-Truth def. Alberto Del Rio & "Dashing" Cody Rhodes Trent Barreta def. Drew McIntyre Big Show def. Wade Barrett (Disqualification) Beth Phoenix def. Michelle McCool Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston def. Jack Swagger
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. For the second week in a row, Wade Barrett invaded SmackDown and this time he didnt come alone. After Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel came to Barretts aid in a match with Big Show, Ezekiel Jackson stunned the entire WWE Universe by bodyslamming The Worlds Largest Athlete. The shocking night is sure to reshape the entire SmackDown landscape for weeks to come.
Chaos erupted on "The Cutting Edge" between World Heavyweight Champion Edge, Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero (WATCH | PHOTOS) No. 1 contender Dolph Ziggler had bold words for World Heavyweight Champion Edge, including questioning his appreciation for ex-wife Vickie Guerrero and saying hed pull the plug on Edges career at Royal Rumble. The Rated-R Superstar pulled no punches and retaliated by hurling a slew of insults at the Official SmackDown Consultant. When tensions rose to a boil, Ziggler viciously attacked the champion. After battling back, it appeared as if The Ultimate Opportunist was going to Spear his old flame until Ziggler came to her aid. In the end, the champion was left sprawled on the arena floor after Ziggler bashed him onto the steel ring steps.
Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston def. Jack Swagger (WATCH | PHOTOS) In his first match since becoming Intercontinental Champion, Kofi Kingston tangled with Jack Swagger. Despite The All-American Americans tough talk at the start of the match, The Dreadlocked Dynamo took care of business and picked up a victory over Swagger with an SOS.
Beth Phoenix def. Michelle McCool (WATCH | PHOTOS) Typically, when The Glamazon is poised for a Glam Slam, your fate is sealed. But on this night, Michelle McCool found a way to counter and escape Beth Phoenixs devastating maneuver. However, Phoenix quickly countered Michelles move and wrapped her up for the pinfall.
Big Show def. Wade Barrett by Disqualification (WATCH | PHOTOS) Hoping for retribution after being attacked by Wade Barrett last week (WATCH), Big Show tangled with Barrett one-on-one. Just like he did while part of The Nexus, Barrett showed that he does not operate alone. When The Worlds Largest Athlete was prepared to deliver a game-over chokeslam, Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel rushed to Barretts aid. After punching a steel chair out of Gabriels hand, it looked like Show could overcome the odds. But before he could gain control, Show was overcome by his attackers. Then in a stunning move, Ezekiel Jackson stormed the ring and bodyslammed The Worlds Largest Athlete. Adding insult to injury, Gabriel delivered a 450 Splash to the fallen giant. Whats next from Barrett and the Superstars he has drawn to his side?
Trent Barreta def. Drew McIntyre (WATCH | PHOTOS) The vicious Drew McIntyre is about as dangerous as any Superstar in the entire WWE. His skills were in full effect against Trent Barreta. But just when it looked like Barretas fate was sealed when McIntyre hoisted him atop his shoulders, Barreta countered and got the pinfall and huge upset victory over the Chosen One.
Rey Mysterio & R-Truth def. Alberto Del Rio & "Dashing" Cody Rhodes (WATCH | PHOTOS) Before they got down to business in their tag team encounter, all four Superstars looked toward the opportunity to square off in the Royal Rumble Match (WATCH). Once their match got underway, it was past Rumble winner Rey Mysterio who gained the victory for his team when he stunned Dashing Cody Rhodes with a 619 followed by a splash from the top rope. The victory certainly sent a strong message that Rey is ready to rumble. (Royal Rumble coverage)
