ATLANTA – With Raw back in the USA after last week's show in Manchester, England, everyone’s mind was on this Sunday’s Survivor Series. This came as no surprise since with three Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Matches, including one pitting the Divas of Raw against SmackDown’s, most of the WWE roster is involved in one way or another. In a night with multiple tag team matches, many of these ring warriors had an opportunity to learn something of their opponents prior to the pay-per-view. The most heated confrontation, however, was between CM Punk and a now fully-recovered Randy Orton, who had cost the Straightedge Superstar his World Heavyweight Championship at Unforgiven by way of a punt to the head.

Randy Orton def. World Tag Team Champion CM Punk in a Lumberjack Match; a massive brawl broke out following the contest (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Before World Tag Team Champion CM Punk was to face Randy Orton in the night’s main event, 30 WWE Superstars came out and surrounded the ring as lumberjacks for the match. Though he is still just recently recovered, the Legend Killer pulled out a win over the Straightedge Superstar, dashing Punk’s hopes of exacting revenge for Orton costing him the World Heavyweight Championship. Following the match, a Superstar who has his own problems with the third-generation ring warrior, Batista, entered the ring to attack Orton, leading all of the Superstars present to get involved in what became an out-of-control brawl that ended the show.

New Intercontinental Champion William Regal came to the Raw ring already soured by what he perceived as a poor reception from the WWE Universe. He faced off against ECW Champion Matt Hardy in a non-title match that gave both ring warriors an opportunity to size up one of their Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match opponents. Though both champions fought ferociously, the match ended with no definitive winner, as the two Superstars were counted out simultaneously and continued to brawl after the bell.

Earlier in the evening, Evan Bourne appeared on Raw to address the ankle injury he suffered three weeks ago. After revealing that he is rapidly improving and should be back in the ring in just a matter of months, new Raw Superstar Mike Knox made his way out to the stage, where he stared intently at the high-flyer before walking away ominously. Later, the Desert Destroyer again caught up with Bourne, and proceeded to attack both the injured Superstar and World Tag Team Champion Kofi Kingston, leaving both men writhing on the floor in agony.

In another match that gives the WWE Universe a taste of what they should see this weekend, the reluctant partnership of JBL & Kane faced Cryme Tyme – two teams that will be on opposing sides of one of Sunday’s Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Matches. Captain JBL gained the psychological advantage going into Survivor Series by pinning Cryme Tyme’s JTG.

After greeting Dolph Ziggler in the locker-room area, the tag team of Shawn Michaels & Rey Mysterio made their way to the squared circle as the two ring warriors prepared to tag with one another for the first time ever. HBK & the Ultimate Underdog faced off against two Superstars who claim to be the greatest tag team in the world: The Miz & John Morrison. Though they were defeated by Triple H & Michaels two weeks ago in a DX reunion, the self-proclaimed “chick magnet” and the Shaman of Sexy tasted victory by defeating The Showstopper & the Master of the 619.

Last week on Raw, Batista defeated Cody Rhodes and went on to spear his Priceless partner, Manu when it looked as if the second-generation Superstar might get involved. Manu was given a chance to redeem himself as he faced off against Batista in what was an extremely competitive match due to the young Samoan Superstar’s ferocity and motivation. After the match, Cody Rhodes contemplated getting involved, but instead walked away from the ring, saving his ire for the Survivor Series match this weekend when he, Randy Orton and others will take on Team Batista.

Kelly Kelly def. Victoria; Victoria retaliated but was assaulted by the Raw Divas (PHOTOS)
In a preview of this Sunday’s Divas Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match, Kelly Kelly took on SmackDown’s Victoria. Though Kelly produced a win with her rapidly improving in-ring abilities, the SmackDown Diva attacked her opponent after the bell. Kelly’s fellow Raw Divas ran to her rescue though, as even Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix put her differences aside to jump into the fray against one of her Survivor Series opponents.

Giving WWE Superstars a chance to ask questions in the wake of former GM Mike Adamle’s resignation, Stephanie McMahon took her place at a podium before the entire Raw roster on Monday night. The WWE Executive Vice President went on to back her brother Shane’s decision that Chris Jericho defend the World Heavyweight Championship against the returning John Cena at Survivor Series. McMahon also made the night’s main event between CM Punk and Randy Orton a Lumberjack Match in an effort to make sure the fight stays in the ring and yields a definitive winner. After Santino Marella’s request for another Intercontinental Title rematch was denied, a fight broke out between opposing Survivor Series captains Shawn Michaels and JBL when HBK launched himself at the self-made millionaire.
