Gezien de terreurdaden van vorige week willen we zeker op tijd vertrekken naar de luchthaven. Aldus worden de poesjes om 11 uur netjes afgezet in hun pethotel. Ze krijgen een hokje aan het raam, dus ze kunnen een beetje naar de bezoekers kijken en zwaaien.
Dan naar het plaatselijk ontbijtkraam voor eitjes en bagels, meer een brunch. Om 13 uur vertrekken we richting luchthaven en alles verloopt vlot. De auto was gereserveerd op een off site parking en met busje naar vertrekhal. Er staat helemaal niemand en gezien we al on-line alles hadden afgehandeld waren we dus in 5 minuten klaar. Ook de security lines zijn kort en zijn we zo door (ja schoonpa we hadden dan ook geen tandpasta mee,...). Gezien we nog bijna 3 uur hebben besluiten we niet met het treintje te gaan maar wandelen we op ons gemak naar Terminal E.
Voila volgend bericht zal vanuit Belgie zijn, we gaan vliegen.
Due to the terror attacks of last week we decide to go a bit early to the airport. So by 11 am our kitties are dropped at the pet hotel and they get a box near the window, so they can entertain the visitors a bit.
Next stop is the local bagel caffee for eggs and bagels. At 1 pm we drive off to the airport and we arrive plenty ahead at the reserved parking lot, off the airport. The shuttle drops us in front of the check in and to our surprise no lines and as we have done our homework at home we just need to drop our lugagem done in 5 minutes.
Second surprise: no lines at the security check so we have alomost 3 houts spare and just decide to walk to terminal E in stead of taking the train shuttle.
So next message will be from Belgium, ready to board!
Zo de Kerst is achter de rug en voor ons is het nog wel best druk geweest (weeral hoor ik je denken) Eerst lekker van het mooie weer genoten. Zalig op terras met boekje en drankje, het leek wel zomer (allez naar Belgische normen dan toch).
Tweede Kerst was shoppingdag en natuurlijk waren we niet alleen, zowat alles was in sales en wij dus met de boodschappenlijst naar Abercrombie. Als beloning eten we in de Food Court.
Zondag was het skype dag en zowat met iedereen samen anderhalf uur aan de skype gehangen. Huisje poetsen en oeps daar was er nog een last minute wenslijst vanuit Europe en dus wij terug naar de Mall. Als beloning dit keer gestopt voor Milkshake bij Brusters.
Vandaag was het dan vooral koffers pakken en alles klaar maken voor onze trip naar Belgie Tussendoor moest Ine ook nog naar het ziekenhuis. Neen hoor geen paniek, je moet hier nl drugstest ondergaan vooraleer je aan het werk kan, dus Ine in het potje geplast!
Voila we zijn on-line ingecheckt, koffers staan klaar en onze wanten gaan zeker mee want men verwacht dikke vriestemperaturen vanaf Zaterdag in Belgie! Tot in Belgie!

Christmas is behind us but it has still been pretty busy (again I hear you thinking) First of all we did enjoy the very nice weather and sunshine: sitting outside with a book and a drink, it feels like a normal Summer day in Belgium.
On Saturday we also went to the mall with our shopping list and we were not alone as the sales did start, Abercrombie here we come! As a reward we eat at the food court.
Sunday we cleaned the house and did spend about two hours on skype with the entire family. A last minute wish list from Belgium did send us back into the mall. This time the reward is a milkshake from brusters.
Today it was time to pack the bags and be ready for our trip to Belgium. In between Ine went to the hospital for her drug screening test, a must if you want to be employed. So bags packed and already checked -in on line and our winter coats ready (as it will be around 10 fahrenheit in Belgium by the week-end): Belgium here we come
Sinds het goede nieuws is het voor de verandering nog steeds druk geweest, al hebben we echt ook wel een beetje van het weer genoten. De laatste 3 dagen waren hier echt wel goed: blauwe lucht, zon volop en in de namiddag kon je gewoon in je t shirt zitten (55 tot 58 fahrenheit schat ik).
Gisteren nog vlug naar Fedex kantoor geweest om toestemming tot background te faxen naar Ine haar nieuwe werkgever, daarna naar de fitness en nog wat kleinere dingen van de to do lijst gedaan.
Vandaag kerstinkopen gedaan. Neen geen geschenkjes maar eten voor Kerstavond en Kerstdag. We zijn duidelijk niet de enige op de weg en in de supermarkt. Eerst gaan we naar liquor shop en kopen we Leffe blond, een belangrijk ingredient voor onze Kerstmenu. Wat we niet nodig hebben voor de maaltijd zullen we wel zo nuttigen. Daarna richting Farmers Market met een tussenstop bij de Infinity garage. We moeten nu toch wel langzaam beginnen uitkijken naar een tweede auto, ik denk trouwens dat we de enige in onze straat zijn met 'slechts' 1 auto.
Bij onze terugkomst staat de verwachte Fedex doos aan de deur met alle info die Ine nodig heeft vooraleer aan de slag te kunnen. Moet wel zeggen dat alles zeer professioneel overkomt: volledige welkomsmap, alle papieren die ze moet invullen, volledige kaft met benefits en een kaft met de huisregels. We weten wat gelezen in de komende dagen. Oh ja, ook nog foto toegevoegd van ons super lekker koffiemachine!

The days do remain too short. But in between we did enjoy the very nice weather we had since Sunday: blue sky, sunshine and temperatures of around 55-58 fahrenheit.
Yesterday we went to Fedexoffice to fax the signed papers so company can start the background check of Ine, afterwards we go to the fitness and some other small things of the to do list.
Today it was time for Xmas shipping. No no not presents but food for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It seems we are not the only ones who like to do shopping by looking to the traffic and the overfull parking lots. First we go to the liquor shop to get Leffe, typical Belgium beer needed for the food preparation. Next stop is the Infinity garage as we will need at some stage a second car (I think we are the only ones in our street with 'only' 1 car) and last stop is the Farmers market.
Once home we did find the expected fedex box with all the papers for Ine's employment. Must say it all looks very professional: welcome pack, full information on benefits, full pack on code of conduct, all paperwork that needs completion. Impressive and we know what to read.
Brbrbr wat is het koud deze morgen, maar een strakblauwe lucht en een zonnetje zorgen ervoor dat we in de namiddag lekker buiten kunnen zitten, de temperatuur gaat richting 15 graden.
Tijdens het ontbijt gaat de bel. Is de Kerstman daar? Neen hoor onze buurvrouw Karen en haar dochter die koeken verkopen voor school. We tonen ons goed hart en kopen een doos. Over de middag gaan we naar de Target inkopen doen en ook nog naar Bed,Bath and Beyond een winkel waar je zowat alles kan krijgen voor de badkamer en keuken. Ine blijft natuurlijk staan bij de koffiezet want ze heeft nu toch al een paar weken haar zinnen gezet op een extra koffiezet waar je individuele cups kan indoen. Ik beloof haar als ze een werkaanbod krijgt dat ze er eentje mag kopen....
We zijn nog niet goed terug thuis of de telefoon rinkelt. Is dit dan de Kerstman? Jawel Ine krijgt naar aanleiding van haar gesprek van vorige week een jobaanbod. Er hoeft niet onderhandeld te worden (nochtans een gewoonte hier dat je nog wat onderhandeling voert over loon en vakantiedagen) want het voorstel is zeer fair. Ine mag in principe op 11 januari beginnen maar eerst moeten er nog een paar hindernissen genomen worden die hier bij elke job horen: een achtergrondcheck (eerst formulier invullen dat je hiermee akkoord gaat natuurlijk), een creditcheck en een drugstest. De eerste papieren werden onmiddellijk met e-mail opgestuurd, de rest wordt nog deze week met Fedex bezorgd. Na enkele minuten begint Ine te beseffen dat ze nu echt wel een job heeft en dan nog degene waar ze echt een goed gevoel bij had qua jobinhoud! De Kerstman is echt wel een paar dagen te vroeg!
Belofte maakt schuld en dus gaan we meteen de koffiezet halen, alsook een ganse rits aan cups (latte, breakfast coffee, hazelnut coffee,...). De Kerstman komt dus voor een tweede keer een paar dagen te vroeg. Net als kleinde kindjes die iets nieuw krijgen wordt alles meteen uitgepakt en getest. De koffie is heerlijk, foto's van ons nieuw supermachine volgen later.
Jaja de Kerstman is echt vroeg dit jaar: een jobaanbod, nieuw speelgoed en volgende week naar onze familie in Belgie!

Brbrbr what is it cold this morning but we have a clear blue sky and sunshine so by this afternoon we could sit outside as it gets around 55 fahrenheit. During breakfast the frontdoorbell goes. Is Santa Claus early this year? No it is just our neighbor Karen and her daughter who are selling cookies for school.
In the afternoon we go shopping to Target and also to Bed, Bath and Beyond, a shop where you can buy all kind of items for kitchen,bathroom and bedroom. Of course Ine stops at a coffee machine who is working on individual cups, she did already indicate several times her deep interest to buy such a machine. I promise here she can buy one if she gets a job offer.
Back home the telephone rings. Would this be Santa Claus? And yes indeed Ine is offered a job based on her interview of last week. Normally in the US you start to negotiate salary and holidays but the offer is so fair she just had to accept. Ine is expect to start January 11th, however in the US it is common you take first some steps: a background check, a drugs test and a credit history check. Some of the forms do arrive immediately by e-mail, the rest will be shipped to us by Fedex. Ine needs a couple of minutes before she is starting to realize she has a job offer and the job she did like from the moment she did see it on internet. Indeed Santa Claus is 4 days early for us.
As I promised we go back to the store and pick up the coffee machine but also a bunch of flavors (breakfast, hazelnut, latte coffee,...) and as little kids when we arrive home we need to test our new toy. The coffee is delicious and pictures will follow.
So yes Santa is early this year for us: a job offer, a new coffee toy and next week we go to Belgium to visit our family.
Nu de interviews achter de rug zijn hebben we tijd om nog aantal foto's te posten die we in afgelopen week hebben genomen. Zoals eerder geschreven hebben we nog aantal dozen uitgepakt tot groot plezier van de kleinste. Die vond het geweldig om door het papier te 'vroeten'. Ook hadden we onverwachts bezoek van onze eigenaars, die kwamen een welcome/Kerstgeschenk afgeven. Ze moeten me kennen want er zit vanilla koffie tussen, hmhm. De doos is ondertussen al gedeeltelijk geopend en getest! En zoals eerder gemeld hebben we ook werk gemaakt van de kerstkaarten die zijn sinds gisteren vertrokken naar Europa. Enige vertraging voor lokale giftbox die wij willen sturen naar Karl die zijn US adres ter onze beschikking had gesteld voor de greencard want onze kleinste vond dit nu toch wel een enorm leuke plaats om in te maffen (er is een lokale advertentie: 'If it fits, it ships for one low rate')!
Voor de rest hebben we de sneeuw en vooral het fileleed gevolgd via internet, skype kontakt gehad met al wie wilde skypen. En hebben we onze trip naar Belgie geboekt. Nu valt alles hier zowat stil en hebben we nog een goedkoop ticket gevonden. Eindejaar vieren we dus bij familie in Belgenland en daar kijken we toch wel naar uit.

Now all the interviews are done, we have some time to post some of the pictures we took earlier this week. As mentionned we did empty some more boxes and especially our young cat did enjoy playing in the middle of the papertrash. Also we recevied unexpected visitors. The owners came by with a welcome/X mas present box with all kind of goodies. Of course we did alreay test some of them. And yes the X mas cards are off to Europe with the exception of a domestic gift box for Karl. Karl did let us use his local US address for our green card, however our youngest seems to love the postal priority box (as in the ad: if it fits it ships for one low rate).
We kept updated about the snow in Belgium, we skyped with all people who did wanted to skype and we have booked our trip for Europe. We found a cheap ticket and will spend New years's eve with our family. We are looking forward...
Een drukke 2 dagen achter de rug. Gisteren eindelijk de kans gehad om iemand van NCR te ontmoeten. Een Belg die hier al meer dan 10 jaar woont. Een echt leuke babbel gehad over niet alleen het bedrijf maar ook hoe hij hier is terecht gekomen en eigenlijk waren we beiden blij dat we eens goed in het Westvlaams konden praten. We spreken af om elkaar in januari nog eens te ontmoeten. Tof!
Deze morgen had ik dan om 11 uur een telefonisch interview voor een job die ik via interimburo gevonden had. Gesprek was eerder algemeen en vooral checken of ik aan de voorwaarden voldoe en ja mijn resume zal worden doorgestuurd naar de hiring manager ter evaluatie. Job lijkt me leuk (50% reizen en de andere helft thuiswerk en veel klantenbezoek voor projecten) maar nadeel is dat lokatie van ondergeschikt belang is en dus de job in gans USA gepost is. Dus zeer veel reacties en resumes. We wachten af.
In de namiddag ben ik chauffeur want Ine heeft zoals eerder gemeld een nieuw interview. De afstand is niet ideaal maar de job sprak Ine echt wel aan. Ine heeft op voorhand een programma gekregen van 2 uur en dus heb ik rustig de tijd om iets te gaan eten en dan wat te surfen in een Starbucks (er zijn er hier toch genoeg). Gesprek is goed verlopen en ook hier is het 'we wachten af'.
Ook de eerste kerstkaartjes zijn aangekomen via de post (Arthur jullie waren de allereerste bedankt!) maar ook via de e-mail. Leuk en zo beseffen we meteen dat we eigenlijk nu al verschrikkelijk te laat zijn met onze kaarjtes te versturen.... Doen we morgen wel.

Last two days were again pretty busy. Yesterday I met someone from NCR. A Belgian guy who is living in Atlanta for over 10 years. We did have a chat not only about the company but also all kind of things. It was fun as we both are from the same region and thus could speak our local dialect. We agreed to meet again in January.
This morning I had a telephone interview with a labor office, although the job is a full time contract. The major aim was to check if I met all requirements and as I did she promised that my resume would be forwarded to the hiring manager for further investigation. The job seems really fun - 50% traveling and the other half working from home with a lot of customer contacts on projects- but as location is not too important the competition will be big as it has been posted in entire USA. So yes good interview but just wait and see
In the afternoon I was driving Ine to her interview. The distance is not ideal but Ine was really attracked by the content of the job. She had received a 2 hour program so I had plenty of time to eat something and work on the internet over a Starbucks (enough of those places around here). Also here the interview was positive but again: wait and see.
Also the first Xmas cards did arrive via the mail man (Arthur thank you and you have beaten them all) but also via e-mail. Fun but also a reminder that we are awefull late with our X-mas cards.... so we know what to do tomorrow.
Het bedrijf waar ik het finale interview had laatst donderdag heeft me teruggebeld, met slecht en goed nieuws ..... Het slechte nieuws dan eerst, ik heb het net niet gehaald van een andere kandidaat die meer ervaring had in het verleden met een gelijkaardige functie.
Het goede nieuws was dat men allemaal echt positief was over mij en ze een 2de functie willen openen en voor deze functie zou ik alvast in aanmerking komen. Jammer genoeg weet men niet wanneer de functie van hogerhand goedgekeurd zal worden, het kan wel enkele weken duren.
Natuurlijk ben ik wat ontgoocheld maar zeker niet ontmoedigd, de kans zit er dik in dat ik daar toch kan tewerkgesteld worden mits geduld, en ondertussen heeft een ander bedrijf me gebeld en ik ga woensdagmiddag op interview !!
The company where I had my interview on Thursday did call me back , they had some bad news and they also had some good news ....
The bad news is that I was very close to the job but did not get it, reason being is that the other candidate had more experience with a similar function in his previous career.
The good news was that everyone had been very positive about me and they would have a 2nd function for which I would be under consideration . Unfortunately it is not known yet when the function will be approved, it might take a couple of weeks.
Naturally I am a bit disappointed as I was looking forward to work for this company, but the chances are high that I might get the 2nd function which has yet to be approved, and meanwhile I have been contacted by another company and will have an interview on Wednesday !!

Zaterdag, 12 December
Deze morgen hadden we een afspraak met de familie Bos. Ruud hadden we leren kennen via Alles Amerika forum en woont ook in Johns Creek. We werden dan ook bij hen thuis uitgenodigd voor de koffie. Ruud,Monique en zoon Wessel wonen hier reeds twee jaar na een omzwerving via Arizona. De koffie was lekker, de rondleiding in hun huis super en de babbel was zo leuk dat we belsoten om maar verder te kletsen tijdens lunch bij de lokale Mexicaan. Wordt zeker herhaald in Januari!
Mieuwtje haar ogen zit nog steeds ontstoken dus we besluiten om er mee naar de veearts te gaan. Net om de hoek zit een petsmart, vertaal een supermarkt voor hond,kat,vis en andere dieren. Er is een petshotel en ook een veearts (het ding is zo groot dat ik het eerder een ziekenhuis zou noemen ipv een dierartspraktijk). De ganse procedure is nogal ingewikkeld: eerst aanmelden en file aanmaken, daarna wordt de kat gewogen en vliegen we in een hokje. Daar komt eerst een assistent kijken die alles netjes in de computer tikt en dan pas zien we de veearts. Hij begroet ons meteen met 'goedemiddag', blijkt de man van de Nederlandse Antillen te zijn en dus wordt de rest van het gesprek in het Nederlands gevoerd. Er wordt een test uitgevoerd op haar oogje (met een paars neonlicht, het leek wel of we in een disco waren ipv praktijk!) en hop we mogen langs de kassa passeren om de pillen op te halen in ruil voor onze credit card (20 minuten bezoek kost ons $140, aub! dank U wel). Voor dit geld mogen we wel nog een keer terug komen ter controle binnen 2 weken.
Voor de rest is het hier bitter koud met temperaturen rond 40 fahrenheit (5 graden), grijs en in de namiddag regen, het lijkt wel Belgie. Ook morgen wordt hetzelfde weer verwacht.

This morning we had an appointment with family Bos. We did got in touch with Ruud via Alles Amerika forum en he lives just like us in Johns Creek. We are invited at his home for a cup of coffee. Ruud,Monique and son Wessel are here for two years already. The coffee was good, the walk thru their home very nice and the talk was fun. In fact it was so fun that we all did decide to continue over lunch at a local Mexican restaurant.
Mieuwtje here eye is still not good so we went to the vet this afternoon. Just around the corner we have a Petsmart, a big supermarket for your dog,cat,fish and other pets. There is also a pethotel and an animal clinic. The procedure seems a bit complicated: first announce yourself so a file can be raised, weight the cat and than go to room 4. First we see the assistant vet who is putting our story in the pc and a bit later the 'real' vet arrives with a nice 'goededag'. It seems he is from the Dutch Antilles so the rest of the conversation is in Dutch. A test is done on her eyes with a kind of purple disco neon. Next stop is the counter to pick up her medication and of course to pay for the visit ($140!!). Of course we are recommended a return visit to check if all ok.
The weather remains as in Belgium: gray, rain and cold (only 40 fahrenheit) and same is expected for tomorrow.
De tijd gaat snel en voor je het weet is het donderdag, vandaag heb ik het 2de interview van een potentiele werkgever. In dit interview heb ik nog iemand ontmoet die even in het Spaans gesproken heeft, dit is een bijkomend voordeel voor me gezien ze in de eerste plaats iemand zoeken die Franstalig is, maar aangezien ze ook mensen nodig hebben die Spaans spreken zou het een dubbele aanwinst zijn op gebied van taal.
Ik had gehoopt vandaag iets meer te weten te komen maar zal wat geduld moeten oefenen , normaal gezien zal ik volgende week meer weten, maar nu komt onze trip naar Belgenlandje in de problemen, en het ziet er naar uit dat we onze eerste Kerst en Nieuwjaar in Atlanta zullen vieren want ik moet wel bereikbaar blijven, hoewel de functie pas in Januari zou starten.
Ik ben heel benieuwd en kijk uit naar volgende week, en het wordt nu nog spannender want ik had net tijdens mijn interview een voice mail ontvangen, ditmaal van nog een andere firma die me wil spreken over een job waar ik een tijd geleden op gesolliciteerd heb ! ( en dat is dan bedrijf nr 3 deze week ! )
Time flies, before you know it it is Thursday and yes this is D-Day for the 2nd round interview. During this interview I have met with someone else and we talked a bit in Spanish, as this is an extra asset I could provide to this company. Whilst they are looking for a french speaking person , they do also require Spanish speaking people so I can offer a double advantage looking at the language skills.
I hoped to find out today after the interview if I would be hired but have to be a bit more patient, I should know about my possibilities next week, but it now seems that our trip we might plan to Belgium is getting in troubles ! Even though I would only be starting in January, I still have to be available next week and as we do not want to take the risk to miss a nice job opportunity it looks like Bart and myself will be spending our first X mas and New Year together in Alanta !
I am really excited and looking forward to next week, and it even gets more exciting as whilst I was having my interview I missed a voice mail from another company which I applied for a while ago, that is possible future employer nr 3 this week !!
Bericht ontvangen dat zoon Willem gevallen is in de douche en een nachtje heeft moeten kamperen in het ziekenhuis ter observatie. Hij mag deze namiddag al terug naar huis, gelukkig!
Deze morgen heeft Ine een telefonisch interview gehad, haar resume werd opgepikt op een jobopening van 7 November 2009. Je ziet je moet hier wat geduld hebben: de job blijft zowat een maand op internet staan en dan worden de meest interessante resumes eruit gehaald voor een telefonisch interview. Het gesprek duurt bijna een uur en men heeft beloofd om volgende week terug te bellen als er eventueel een tweede gesprek moet volgen. Het bedrijf is groter dan waar Ine vorige week is geweest en ook de job klinkt leuk. Grootste nadeel is de afstand want is toch elke dag een dik uur rijden. Maar goed zo ver zijn we nog niet, eerst maar even afwachten.
Buiten is het koud en grijs. Er trekt een joekel van een storm van West USA naar de Eastcoast in 48 uur met veel sneeuw of in ons geval veel regen. Het valt vandaag weer met bakken uit de lucht en het is net geen 50 fahrenheit (10 graden). Morgen verwacht met een warmtefront en klimt de temperatuur richting 66 fahrenheit (18 graden) om Donderdag terug naar 50 te zakken. Om maar te zeggen dat het nogal wisselt. We blijven dus binnen en pakken nog een paar laatste dozen uit, we zijn er bijna

Received message that Willem (son) slipped and fell to the floor. He had to spend the night in hospital but all ok and he can return home this afernoon.
This morning Ine had a telephone interview. She did apply for the job beginning of November and her resume was of interest it seems. The interview takes about an hour and she will hear next week if a second interview will be planned. The company is even bigger than the one she had an interview last week and also the job seems interesting. Biggest downturn is the distance to the office. It will take her an hour one way I guess. But that is a concern for later let just wait and see if she is offered a job in the upcoming weeks.
Outside it is gray and cold. A big storm is moving from the Westcoast to the Eastcoast in 48 hours and bringing a lot of moisture: for some snow and for us rain, a lot of rain. Climate can change quickly here as today it is 50 fahrenheit and tomorrow it will be 66 and drop again to 50 on Thursday.! We stay at home and unpack some more boxes, we are almost finished.
Vandaag is het Sinterklaas , maar helaas geen chocolade , geen andere snoepjes, neen hij heeft de stoomboot richting USA niet genomen !
We staan op en het is echt koud , vannacht is het -4 graden C geweest , dus we zetten vlug de verwarming op en komen er pas uit als het wat warmer is !
Daarna een ontbijt met hash brown ( soort aardappelrosti gebakken in de oven) met een eitje en wat spek.
We gaan naar het winkelcentrum, Bart zijn parfum is op en ik heb nog het een en ander nodig van Clinique. We gaan naar een ander winkelcentrum, maar het valt wat tegen, dus gaan we terug naar Northpoint Mall , ons favoriete winkelcentrum.
Na het shoppen gaan we naar de supermarkt( ( ja die zijn hier de zondag ook open, je hoeft je nooit meer zorgen te maken dat je iets niet in huis hebt ! ) en daarna naar de Panda Express, een soort Aziatische fastfood, we eten onze orange chicken en walnut shrimps ( een soort gewokte kip in zoete saus en gefritureerde garnalen in een honingsaus met gewokte walnoten) en daarna geniet Bart van American Football, en ikke van de mooie lichtjes in onze boom.
En ja zoals beloofd mogen jullie vandaag meegenieten van de binnendecoratie !!

Tadaaaaaaaam !!!
Today it is St Nicholas, but unfortunately he did not bring us any chocolate nor any other sweets , apparently his boat didnot reach the US
When we get up it is really cold , last night temperature was -4C so we decide to jump out of bed, put the heating on and only come out of bed when the house is cosy and warm.
We enjoy a breakfast with hash brown potatoes, sunny side up eggs and some bacon.
In the afternoon we decide to go to the mall as Bart needs new perfume and I need some Clinique products, we go to another mall, but it is smaller with far less shops then we are used to so we decide to drive to our favourite mall which is Northpoint mall.
After shopping we go to the supermarket ( and even on Sunday the supermarket is open, so you never have to worry and rush into the supermarket on Saturdays as I was used to ). Then we go to Panda express, a kind of Asian Fast Food and we order our favourite food which is orange chicken and also some fried shrimps with wallnut.
After dinner Bart is watching American Football on tele, while I am enjoying sitting down and watching our Christmastree.
And of course, as promised, we will show our decoration inside the house today !
Vandaag na het ontbijt naar de fitness geweest, daarna rustig een lunch genomen en toen hadden we nog materiaal nodig van de doe-het-zelf ( Brico Plan it * 4 zeg maar ) . Na de inkopen stoppen we bij Caribou koffie , dat is een zelfde type koffiehuis zoals Starbucks maar met ietwat andere smaakjes , Bart neemt een warme chocomelk en ik neem een koffie met chocolade en marshmallows bovenop de koffie , heerlijk ! ( Alle verbruikte fitnesscalorieen in 1 koffie weggewerkt , geef toe het is een kunst op zich !! )
Daarna hebben we het huis verder gedecoreerd en neen we houden jullie niet langer in spanning , maar helaas zullen we nog niet alles tonen, vandaag zien llie onze decoratie buiten, en morgen krijgen jullie de binnenkant te zien !!!

Today we are heading to the fitness after our breakfast, then we had lunch and did more shopping @ Lowes, which is a retail home improvement store that also sells appliances ( we have similar in Belgium but you have to multiply at least by 4 to imagine the size of it ) After the shopping we go to Caribou coffee , a similar coffee shop as Starbucks but with different flavours, Bart ordered a hot cocoa with dark chocolate and I had a coffee with chocolate and marshmallow on top of it !! ( and in that way I gained all burned calories back with 1 coffee !! not bad, is it ?
In the afternoon we continued our home decoration, and no , you do not have to wait further for the results, but unfortunately we will not show everything yet, today you can, enjoy the outside decoration of our home , and tomorrow the inside of our home !
Zoals gezegd: iets vroeger uit mijn tram want moet om 10 uur bij een headhunter zijn. Geen specifieke jobaanbieding maar iemand die werd aanbevolen via ons netwerk die langzaam uitgebreid wordt.
Netjes op tijd voor de deur en een uurtje zitten praten, opnieuw wat bruikbare tips gekregen. Hij woonde trouwens niet zo ver van ons hier in Johns Creek, heb hem meteen de fitness aanbevolen! Ook nog een paar positieve opmerkingen bekomen over mijn resume, kortom zoals altijd: nuttig. In het naar huis rijden nog even gestopt bij de Target want we hebben een paar dozen lichtjes tekort voor onze kerstboom. Tja als je grote boom hebt, dan heb je ook wel wat lichtjes nodig.
Terug thuis even de skype op met Bob (voorzitter van onze grote Club Brugge Vanessa Hoefkens fanclub, we zijn met 4 leden), we zijn blij met het punt die we in Oekranie hebben gehaald, we kunnen beginnen dromen van Europees overwinteren. En nog hebben we niet genoeg lichtjes dus in de namiddag terug naar de Target en de Wal Mart om de laatste serie te halen. We hebben de fout gemaakt om verschillende soort lichtjes in verschillende winkels te halen. Hier kan je nl. verschillende dozen lichtjes aan elkaar koppelen waardoor je niet veel verlengdraad nodig hebt en alles in 1 stopkontakt kan. Maar dan moet je wel bij hetzelfde merk blijven natuurlijk. Maar goed we worden al een echte Amerikaan: rondrijden met die auto!
Tijdens het versieren gaat Ine haar mobiel af en ja hoor het is HR vanuit Chicago. Tijdens haar gesprek werd er beloofd om volgende week terug te bellen maar daar zijn ze al, kan nooit een slecht teken zijn! En dat is het niet: Ine wordt uitgenodigd voor het tweede gesprek a.s. Donderdag. Ze ziet er o.a. de Director Customer Service. Hmhmhm ze komt nu toch echt wel dicht bij een job. Een leuk einde van de week.
As said I need to get up a bit early today as I have a 10 o clock appointment with a headhunter. He has not offered a specific job but has been introduced via our network that we slowly are widening.
I am right on time for the meeting and we talk for about an hour. I received some new very useful tips. Also my resume is discussed and we found out that we are living close to each other as his home is also in Johns Creek. It is already getting a small world!
On the way home I make a stop at Target as we need some more Xmas lights. If you have a big tree, you need a lot of lights! Back home I have skype-contact with Bob (he is the chairman of our Club Brugge Vanessa Hoefkens fanclub, we have 4 members) and we chat about Club Brugge who played 0-0 in Ukraine. We can start dreaming of advancing to the next round. And still we have not enough Xmas lights! We also made the mistake to buy different type of lights at different stores. So in order to make sure we can connect multiple series, we need to go back to both Target and Wal Mart. And so you create the traffic jams in Atlanta!
Back home (second time indeed) Ine receives a phone call from the HR department in Chicago, a bit earlier than expected (a return call was promised for next week) but that can never be bad news! And indeed the company was impressed and like to invite Ine for the second interview. This will be next Thursday with Director Customer Service. Hmhm a job is now closer than ever before, a great way to end the week!
Dag regen, leve een droge dag met toch een beetje blauwe lucht. Maar het is wel koud en we moeten iets doen wat we niet meer gewoon zijn: vest meenemen!
Deze morgen een telefonisch interview gehad voor job VP Business Development. Interview was strak en heb niet echt het gevoel dat de headhunter mij als de ideale kandidaat zag maar hij besloot wel om mijn resume toe te voegen aan de lijst die naar zijn klant gaat. We zien wel. Over de middag naar de Wal Mart om inkopen te doen dan is het niet echt druk en hoef je niet te lang aan de kassa te staan.
We hebben er al behoorlijk over gezaagd toen onze ouders hier waren, maar vandaag is het eindelijk zover kerstboom en decoratie! De boom gehaald bij Lowes en gezien home delivery meer kost dan de boom zelf, wordt dit simpel opgelost: de boom gewoon op je dak leggen en zo naar huis rijden. Simpel maar efficient. Daarna nog naar de Target (jawel beste ouders: eerst koffie halen bij Starbucks en dan pas shoppen) om kerstlichtjes te kopen, veel kerstlichtjes en verlengdraad, veel verlengdraad! De boom staat op zijn plaats en Ine gaat hem morgen versieren terwijl ik op interview ben. Wordt vervolgd met zelfs nog meer foto's
Het Kerstboomverhaal deel 1 / The Christmastreestory part 1

Byby rain, we have a dry day with some clear blue skies in the morning. However it is cold so from now on it seems we need to take our coat with us.
This morning I had a telephone interview with a headhunter for the position of VP Business Development. The interview was straightforward but do not have the feeling that I was the ideal candidate he was looking for. Nevertherless he will put my on the list of possible candidates. Wait and see. During lunchtime we go to Wal Mart as that is an ideal time to avoid long lines at the check out.
In the afternoon we finally do what I was talking about already for days: X Mas shopping. First we go to Lowes for a tree. As a home delivery cost as much as 2 trees, we take the tree home in our car. Correction: on top of our car, simple but very practical. Second stop is the Target for decoration and X mas lights, a lot of lights and extension cords, a lot of cord. The tree is put inside the house and Ine will decorate the tree tomorrow while I have to go for an interview. Will be continued with even more pictures
En dus moest Ine vandaag voor haar persoonlijk interview. Gisteren zijn we even naar de plaats van afspraak gereden, kwestie dan Ine niet teveel stress heeft. Het gebouw ziet er groot en modern uit aan de buitenkant.
Helaas heeft Ine deze morgen pech want zoals aangekondigd regent het. En voor de vaste lezers van onze blog: als het hier regent dan regent hier echt wel. En dus vertrekt Ine iets vroeger dan gepland. Zonder veel problemen is ze ruim op tijd voor haar interview. Alles verloopt vlot en Ine krijgt ook het kantoor en de mogelijke afdeling te zien. Deze week komen nog een aantal kandidaten langs en tegen volgende week wordt er beslist wie nog een tweede keer mag langskomen. We hebben hoop. De rest van de middag wordt er door Ine gekuist (gastenkamers zijn weer verhuurbaar!), terwijl ikke naar de fitness ga.
Het blijft leuk om de reacties en gastenboek te lezen: bekende gezichten en oude bekenden die we al een tijdje niet meer gesproken hebben melden zich. Heel leuk
Today is the day of the personal interview. Yesterday we did drive by the place where this will take place so Ine has not too much stress in finding the spot. The building is big and pretty modern.
Ine is not so lucky this morning as the expected rain is falling down. And as we all know by now, if it is raining than it is really raining, not just a few drops. Ine departs a bit earlier than planned but arrives on time for the interview. All goes well and she has even the opportunity to see the building and the possible department. As some more candidates are passing by, it will take till next week before she will know if she can go for a second interview or not. We have hope. The remainder of the day Ine is cleaning the guest rooms (so they ready for the next guests) while I went to the fitness.
It is also nice to see the comments in the guestbook section or the private reactions we get, not only from well know friends but also some people we have not heard off lately.
