Eerst maar even thuis blijven want deze morgen komt er iemand voor de airco kijken. 
Heb de indruk dat die beneden niet werkt en met huidige temperature (nog steeds tussen 75 en 80 fahrenheit)
zou wat afkoeling best leuk zijn.  Inderdaad het ding moet vermaakt worden en zal nog wel even duren….

Daarna komt iemand kijken naar garbage disposal (elke keuken in amerika heeft in de spoelbak een sort mixer
waardoor grotere brokken gemalen worden en dus leiding niet kan verstoppen).  Dit gaat vlugger en binnen 5 minuten
is deze vermaakt.  Mooi zo.

Ondertussen heb ik met American Express kunnen regelen dat ik ondanks geen credit history een credit card kan krijgen (omdat ik klant was in Europa).  Een credit history is hier zeer belangrijk.  Door alles op tijd te betalen bouw je een credit geschiedenis op en als je een goede rating hebt dan krijg je op termijn betere voorwaarden voor een hypotheek e.d. 
Zaak is dat we komende maanden onze credit card regelmatig gebruiken en al onze rekeningen op tijd netjes betalen. 
Als alles meezit komt UPS morgen de kaart afleveren.

En ook voor de eerste keer van mijn tap moeten maken want ze zijn gisteren de vuilbakken niet komen ophalen. 
Ze komen morgen special rond.

Nu vlug in de auto en hop naar de dealer.  Bob – onze verkoper – begrijpt ons verzekeringsprobleem en stelt voor dat
we naar rustige buurt rijden waar hij ons toch een blokje om wil laten rijden.  Eigenlijk niet nodig want we weten wat we
willen (wat tidjens het korte ritje bevestigd wordt).

Verzekeringspapieren worden doorgefaxt, een hoop dokumenten worden ingevuld en hop de auto is van ons. 
Morgen komen we hem ophalen want nu hebben we niet veel tijd gezien straks bed wordt geleverd en ook nog HHGregg
voor de deur zal staan.

Terug thuis is het wachten op de leveringen.  De eerste die voor de deur staat in ons tweede bed.

Het system van leveren is hier best aardig: je krijgt een window van 3 uur en 30 minuten voor ze aan de deur zijn krijg je een telefoontje.  Dat gaat zo voor allesm van loodgieter tot meubels.  HH Gregg staat iets na acht uur voor de deur
met wasmachine en droogkast .  De televisie was niet in voorraad, wat wij gek vinden want de dag ervoor toen we
in de winkel waren stond hij al klaar aan de kassa!  Dus een boze telefoon richting winkel lost het problem op
(tweede van de dag), ze zullen hem morgenvroeg leveren.

Ine kan alvast beginnen wassen, we geraken langzaam maar zeker volledig geinstalleerd.

Woensdag is opnieuw een drukke dag want eerst wordt de televisie geleverd.  De tafel voor de flatscreen moeten
we zelf in elkaar draaien (lees: heeft Ine in elkaar gezet).

Daarna komt Rooms to go want we zijn het toch een beetje beu om op de trap te ontbijten en ‘s avonds op restaurant
te gaan.  Dit is ook leuk aan Amerika zowat alles hebben ze meteen leverbaar en dus wordt vandaag ons bankstel gebracht.  Alleen de ontbijthoek moet nog even wachten en zal twee weken duren.

Tot slot komt Comcast langs en dat zijn de mannen van de kabel.  Als hij buitenloopt hebben we telefoon, internet en jawel
ook televisie.  Yes we zijn weer verbonden met de buitenwereld en kunnen we terug skypen met al wie ons dierbaar is.

Nu nog vlug naar de garage om de auto op te halen.  Ine krijgt meteen haar vuurdoop want de rental staat alleen op mijn naam.  Dus krijgt Ine de eer om door de avondspits terug naar Duluth te rijden.

De dag zat weer echt eivol.

First order of the day is a visit of the airco company as in my opinion this is not working correctly.  And indeed it seems broken and will need green light from our owners first before it can be repaired.  We hope it will be done quickly as with current temperatures of around 75 to 80 fahrenheit some cooling is welcome.

Second visit of the day is the plumber who needs only 5 minutes to fix our garbage disposal.  In America each house
has in the sink a kind of mixer so you can throw almost all disposals from your plate straight into the sink!

In the meantime I phone to American Express and manage – based on having a card in Europe – to get a gold card of Amex Delta Sky Miles.  This is important towards our credit history.  In America you need to build your history from zero and
this is key for future mortgages or any other loan.  So by having a card I can start to build my history as long as I am paying
on time all my utility bills, credit card statement and monthly rental.  According to the lady it will be delivered by tomorrow via UPS.

I also had to phone the garbage company as they did not pick up our garbage yesterday.  I am promised this will happen tomorrow.

Now we go quickly to our car dealer and Bob the sales manager does understand our issue with the insurance and did drive
us to a quiet area for a short test drive.  We are now 100% convinced this is the car we like to have.

The insurance papers are faxed, we sign multiple documents and yes the car is ours.  We promise to pick him up tomorrow
as we need to be back home for some more deliveries.

The system of deliveries is great and goes like this: you get a 3 hour window and 30 minutes before the actual delivery you
get a phone call they are on the way so you do need to stay home the entire day.

First we receive our second guest bed and around 8 o clock HHGregg is delivering our washer and dryer.  My television is
not in the truck and was out of stock.  This sounds strange to me as yesterday in the shop it was confirmed that it was available.  Time for the second angry phone call of the day and yes it was a mistake.  It will be delivered tomorrow morning first work.

We are getting fully installed as we progress the week.

Wednesday is another busy delivery day:  first the television as promised and the table to put the flat screen on.  The last one
we need to put together ourselves (read: Ine is putting this together)

As we are tired of eating on the stairs due to lack of furniture we are happy that Rooms to go is here to deliver our sofa, our breakfast table will follow later.  This is another nice thing of US, most of the items are in stock and if you buy today by
tomorrow you have it delivered: from new cars to furniture!

Last visitor of the day is Comcast.  When he is walking out we are connected to the outside world as we now have phone, internet and television!

We also pick up our Infinity and Ine gets a nice challenge: as the rental car is in my name only she can drive the brand new car straight thru rush hour back home!

Yes the day was again pretty full.
