25 Maart 2009 De 2^de brief !!!

Mijn vrouw is voor het werk in Newcastle UK en vliegt pas vanavond laat terug. Gezien ik een dag in Parijs was ben ik als eerste thuis en heb dus de eer om de brievenbus te lichten en jawel daar zit dan de tweede witte enveloppe in…

Ik besluit hem niet te openen, niets aan mijn vrouw te zeggen en het ganse ding onder haar hoofdkussen te leggen.

Blijkbaar is ze zo moe van de trip dat ze bij het slapengaan niet eens merkt dat er iets onder haar hoofdkussen ligt. Ik besluit dan maar de opmerking te maken dat ze op haar toekomst ligt…

De brief wordt iets na middernacht samen opengetrokken en we hebben dus een interview datum van 14 Mei 2009 om 14 uur. Als deze goed gaat dan hebben we green card!!!

Veel slapen doen we niet en de rollercoaster zet zich verder in beweging met ja,neen, ja neen en terug ja.

We spreken af dat we ten laatste 1 Mei beslissen of we naar interview gaan of niet maar wel al alle papieren die we nog tekort hebben bij elkaar brengen.

Moesten ook nog lachen met de medische keuring – een verplichting is dat je een dokter bezoekt die aangesteld is door ambassade – die verwees naar een dokter in Beirut!

Blijkbaar is de administratie in States iets slordiger dan in Belgie.

We besluiten wel om onze ouders te informeren dat we kans maken op emigratie. We vinden het niet netjes om te wachten tot na interview en daarnaast wordt het ook tijd dat ons geheim eindelijk met iemand kunnen delen.

25th of March 2009, The 2^nd letter has arrived !!!

I have to go to Newcastle to visit a customer and only flying back late that night, Bart is in Paris that day and has the honour to arrive at home and open the mailbox and BINGO the 2^nd letter is in !!!

Bart decides not to open the letter and puts it underneath my pillow, but I had a delayed flight and only arrived midnight in Bruges and jumped into bed and nearly started sleeping but Bart kept on saying I was laying on my furture, I didn’t know could go that fast from sleeping to waking up!!!

We opened the letter after midnight and see our interview is dd 14^th of May @ 14h00 , if our documents are ok we will have a greencard !!!

We cannot sleep very well and there is the rollercoaster again in our head yes or no, no or yes, yes or no ???!!!! We agree to make our final decision on 1^st of May ( also 8 years together that day ), then we will decide if we will or won’t be going to the Embassy but meanwhile we will be gathering the necessary documents.

We also need a medical examination, you receive a list with docters appointed by the Embassy ( the first letters of our country were ok , but the rest .. We received a list of docters in Beirut …)

We decide we need to start informing our parents that our chances are high we might be leaving Belgium, it would not be appropriate to wait after the interview and at least we can start sharing our secret !!
