4 Juli, Nationale feestdag in USA valt midden in de week, dus 2 daagjes verlof aanplakken en we hebben een 
lekker lang week-end.  Lang genoeg om naar andere kant van USA te vliegen !

Na ontbijt in Panera vliegen we richting Seattle, ook al is het een binnenlandse vlucht, het is nog
steeds 4 uur en 40 minuten vliegen, maar we winnen 3 uur met de tijdszones dus we hebben nog ganse
namiddag om downtown te verkennen.  Maar eerst onze tuttut ophalen (gekend als 'lucifer' want het is een
echte stekkedoze, foto volgt later) en inchecken in Westin midden in het centrum.

Eerst een korte verkenning rond de Pike Place Market (daar morgen meer over) en daarna richting de wereldbekende
Duckiesss!  jawel Yvonne en Arthur ook hier gaan we duckie rijden en natuurlijk komen we vanalles te weten over de
stad zoals het oudste brandweerstation is nummer twee (weet je waarom? omdat de eerste jawel afgebrand is).
Na een kwartiertje gaan we het water in en doen we rondje Lake Union waar 500 woonboten liggen, al zien ze er
volledig als huizen uit inclusiefkelder met venster!
 
Eens terug op het vasteland gaan we vlug richting kamer om ons op te smukken want Ine heeft restaurant geboekt op
zowat 10 minuten rijden, net buiten het centrum aan 1 van de talrijke meren. 
De ganse streek is gekend voor vis dus gaan we volop voor vis.
En daar komt... onze hoofdschotel.  He, hadden we niet ook voorgerecht besteld?  oeps dat waren ze vergeten, niet
erg komt zo voor elkaar en we tot onze verbazing moeten we maar 1 hoofdgerecht betalen als compensatie, dat is nu
nog eens Amerikaanse klantvriendelijkheid (wat een woord).
Op de terugweg naar het hotel pikken we nog de laatste 5 minuten van het vuurwerk mee.  Het vuurwerk in Seattle
wordt door 50000 Amerikanen bijgewoond en in 20 minuten knallen ze er voor een half miljoen dollar aan vuurwerk af,
crisis?  Ik zou het niet weten.

We zijn moe en zal dus echt wel knor knor in Seattle worden, morgen gaan we vliegtuigen kijken!

Hier verzamelen 50000 mensen om naar een half miljoen aan vuurwerk te kijken, leuke dame in het midden! This was the place to be for the fireworks , about 50000 people gathered here to watch the Fireworks !

Lake Union heeft 500 huizen op het water, sommigen hebben zelfs een moter en kunnen varen!

Wednesday July 4th

As the 4th of July is on a Wednesday this year, we decide to add 2 days of vacation and plan a nice long weekend to celebrate ! Long enough to fly to the West Coast !

After a nice breakfast @ Panera we are flying towards Seattle , a long domestic flight of nearly 5 hours , but due to the time difference we win 3 hours and have a whole afternoon left to explore downtown!

After picking up our tiny little rental car we are heading towards downtown and check into the Westin hotel first.
We walk towards the Pike Place market and next we are heading towards the … Ride the Ducks !! This is an ideal tour to explore the city , (we see the oldest Fire Station nr 2 , why nr 2 ? nr 1 … burnt down … ) but as ducks can swim , so can this bus and we sail on Lake Union and admire the houseboats ( these are real homes , basement included ( with windows in the basement , must be really cool !! )
Then we head back to the hotel , take a quick shower as Ine made reservations @ a restaurant ( Ray’s boathouse) , a 10 min. drive away , beautifully located on one of the lakes.  Since there is a lot of water around us , fish is the specialty of course !
All of a sudden our main course is served , and we look surprised as we ordered a huge appetizer .. Unfortunately an error was made , the main course disappeared back into the kitchen , our appetizer arrived and as an apology we only had to pay for 1 entrée which was a real nice gesture !

On our way back to the hotel , we enjoy the last 5 minutes of amazing Fireworks from the bridge , about 50000 visitors , the actual fireworks last for about 20 minutes and cost .. a lot of money !!
It has been a long day but it was so much fun , now we need to get some sleep as we are going to the Boeing factory tomorrow !!
