Eindelijk eens wat tijd om een update te posten, sorry voor vertraging.
Laatste week van juni was zeer druk, net voor ons verlof naar Belgie moesten er nog veel geregeld
worden voor ons huisje: probleem met badkamerverlichting, alarmsysteem moest nog geinstalleerd worden
(ook met de nodige hik-ups, wat had je gedacht) enzomeer enzomeer. Dus elke avond zijn we bekaf door al
het gehol.
Aldus vertrokken we redelijk moe richting Belgie op Vrijdag 1 juli. Gelukkig via mijn miles een upgrade
naar business kunnen versieren dus toch wel wat kunnen slapen tijdens de grote oversteek. Bij aankomst was
het meteen wennen want echt wel dik 15 graden kouder. De jetlag konden we meteen verwerken want de
eerste avond was richting Tielt voor de lokale feesten met Stefanie, vriendin van Ine. Rond twee uur s nachts
plooien we en liggen we in dromenland.
Zondag was familiefeest bij Ine, altijd lekker en leuk bijkletsen.
Maandag was de enige dag met redelijk zomerweer en dus fietsje uithalen en hop 10 kilometer fietsen richitng
Ann die we bezoekje brengen, hopelijk ben je ondertussen helemaal hersteld.
De rest van de week zat behoorlijk vol: inkopen doen (chocolade, kaas en nog andere dingen die wij moeilijk
kunnen vinden hier in Atlanta), tandarts bezoek en controle bij de huisdokter.
Maar natuurlijk ook veel gaan eten: met ex college terrasje pakken, met de voetbalvrienden mossels gaan eten
(het waren de eerste Zeeuwse mossels, lekker), een terrasje in Kortrijk met geweldige garnaalkroketten, aan zee
met Arthur en Yvonne, bezoek aan Vicky, een vriendin van Ine , lekker Americain met Geert en Els en een ongeloofelijk ontbijt met Martine en Eddy.
Kortom veel lekker eten, tijd voor dieet als we terug in Atlanta zijn.
En zo waren de 10 dagen zo voorbij en was het helaas opnieuw tijd voor afscheid. Nooit leuk maar gelukkig
hebben we nog Skype en zien we elkaar opnieuw met Kerst.
Aldus waren we op Maandag 11 juli terug thuis, dik 20 graden warmer. Want ja hier is ere en hittegolf en gaan we
elke dag vlot naar 38 graden die door luchtvochtigheid vaak 40+ aanvoelt. Leve de airco en op naar komend
week-end want dan hopen we te verhuizen

Thursday, July 14th
Finally we have had some time to post an update, sorry for the delay and additional delay to translate in English
The last week of June was extremely busy, we had so many things to be arranged before we went to Belgium
on vacation: issues with our bathroom light fixture, alarm system had to be installed (also not a smooth process
as they had to return twice and still not working properly) and the list adds up .
Basically, we are exhausted each night!!
So we left to Belgium on Friday July 1st, and luckily we had an upgrade to fly business thanks to my miles
and so we were able to sleep a little across the ocean.
Upon arrival we had to first confrontation with the temperature differences, around 62 F (15 C ) we had
about 92 F ( 30 C ) ...
We immediately could start the fight with the jetlag as we were heading to a summer festival in Tielt with
Stephanie a friend of Ine. Around 2 am we gave up and went to bed!
On Sunday we had a family lunch, 7 course lunch, very tasty and yummy and always fun to have the family
together.
On Monday we had a nice sunny day (not hot but reasonable temperature) so we jumped on our bike for a
10 km bike ride towards Ann our ex colleague who was just home and we hope she has fully recovered by
now .
Our agenda was ridiculous fully booked, grocery shopping chocolat, cheese and other things we have
difficulty finding in Atlanta, visit dentist , check up physician etc
And of course we enjoy food and drinks , enjoy a patio with mojito ( Ine) beer ( Bart ) with ex colleague,
enjoy the first mussels from Zeeuws Flanders with my soccer friends, a nice lunch in Kortrijk with shrimp croquettes, dinner with sea view with Arthur and Yvonne, raw steak tartare with Geert and Els , and an
unbelievable breakfast with Martine and Eddy.
This means we will have to start dieting upon our return...
Our 10 days went by in a flash and time for goodbye is never fun but luckily we have Skype and will be back
end of this year.
We got back on July the 11th, need to get used to the hot temperatures as there is a heat wave in the country
and we have high humidity levels on top of that!
We love A/C and next weekend we plan the first part of our move!
