Gisteren begon de dag rustig en zonnig , en was het in de namiddag rond de 28C,
maar dan begin je het weerbericht te volgen en blijkt dat er een stormpatroon
vanuit het Westen naar Georgia aan het reizen is.xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Rond 21h begonnen de rukwinden , zo hard dat die de deur ( die op ons dek uitkomt)
van de slaapkamer openrukte, de poezen waren al snel weg, deur heb ik kunnen vastgrijpen
en deze keer het slot wel goed toegedaan, dat was even schrikken zeg !
Daarna een lichtspectakel voor een uur of 2 , met het nodige dondergerommel
( of zeg maar donderslagen) .
Op sommige plaatsen is er hagel gevallen de grootte van baseballen en golfballen
en er zijn bomen omvergewaaid en is de electriciteit op sommige plaatsen uitgevallen
( bij ons gelukkig niet , de electriciteit in onze community is ondergronds)
Er was ook een Tornado watch , maar dit is niet zo ernstig als een warning,
bij een warning is de kans op ontwikkelen van een tornado veel groter en moet je al
beginnen schuilen ( lees in ruimte gaan zitten zonder vensters, dus kast onder trap , of kelder ) ,
bij een watch is de mogelijkheid er dat zich een tornado gaat ontwikkelen maar die is
minder groot dan bij warning.
Aldus de nacht goed overleefd, het goede nieuws is dat de pollen wat weggespoeld zijn
want heb een luchtwegeninfectie wellicht veroorzaakt door de pollen
( hoeveelheid pollen in Georgia is heel groot in vergelijking met andere staten ,
nu vooral boompollen, daarna gras en onkruidpollen).
Op de vorige blog had Bart een foto geplaatst van een nieuw Belgisch product in de VS ,
jawel , de speculoospasta is aangekomen.
Mijn oudste zus had reeds in een krant in Belgie gelezen dat de Belgische speculoospasta
geintroduceerd was in de VS, en jawel een week later heb ik deze in de locale supermarkt gekocht!
Toeval wil dat we op het werk in verschillende teams iedere eerste vrijdag van de maand ofwel
voor ontbijt, snacks of lunch zorgen , en vorige week vrijdag was ons team aan de beurt en heb
de speculoospasta eens getest ( had ook 2 verse broodjes gebakken en nog Belgische chocopasta mee)
en de speculoospasta viel heel goed in de smaak !
( Lotus mag me dankbaar zijn , een paar trouwe klanten erbij !)
Verder heeft de schatting van het huis al plaatsgevonden en zijn we tot een nieuw akkoord
gekomen met de verkopers, dus nu nog de definitieve goedkeuring van de lening en we zijn er,
als dit alles goed verloopt per 3 mei update en fotos te verwachten !
We zijn onze agenten en trouwens ook onze vrienden Steven en Tascha van The Katz crew
dankbaar voor hun begeleiding door dit ingewikkelde proces !
Morgen komt mijn zus + man aan bij ons, ik ga alvast al inkopen doen voor croque monsieurs
( ach ja da is ons kenmerk geworden , warm maar toch niet te zwaar voor de maag
na een lange vlucht J
En vrijdag op mijn zus haar verjaardag gaan we uurtje rijden in Georgia
naar de gigantische outlet mall , yippiiieeee !!!

Yesterday morning the say started nice and sunny and soon it was about 28C ( upper 70s F)
in the afternoon.
But then when I started to check on the news and weather forecast , a storm was approaching
Georgia travelling from the west.
At 21h00 , there were really high winds , and one of them managed to blow open the door
of our bedroom which has access to the deck!
The kitties were gone in 2 seconds and I jumped of the bed and was able to grab the door a
nd managed to close it ( this time I made sure the lock was on!)
I can assure you this was a very scary moment !
After the high winds, the thunder and light show started , for about 2 hours,
the room did not need extra lights on , the lightning took care of that.
In some areas there was hail the size of baseballs and golfballs, trees were knocked down
and some power outages.
( in our community the power is underground which is an advantage in bad storms)
We also had a tornado watch for our area, a watch is less sever then an actual warning.
When there is a tornado warning , the chance a tornado develops is big and
you already are advised to seek shelter ( meaning go to areas with no windows ,
so a closet underneath a staircase, bathroom with no windows or basement.
When there is a watch, there is a slight chance a tornado could develop .
We survived the night, and the good news is that the hard rain washed away
some of the pollen ( the color of our deck was yellow ... ) cause I have some trouble with these pollen
causing cold like symptoms and congestion
( the pollen count is really high in Georgia compared to other states)
On our previous message on the blog, Bart did place a picture of a new Belgian product
launched in the USA, which is Biscoff spread.
My oldest sister had read in a newspaper in Belgium about this product introduction ,
and one week later I did buy one in the local grocery store , mmmmm
And I was already able to share the product with some of my colleagues,
as we agreed to take care of breakfast, lunch or snacks every 1st Friday of the month,
and this Friday our team took care of breakfast so I made 2 fresh breads,
brought Belgian chocolate spread and the new Biscoff Spread , and it was very popular !
( I guess Lotus bakeries will have a lot of new customers now !)
We also have an update on the house, the appraisal came in and we have a final agreement
with our sellers, so thumbs up for the final loan approval , if all goes well pictures
on May 3rd to be expected !
We are very grateful for the help of our agents and also our good friends Steven and Tascha
from The Katz Crew for their help in the process of buying a new home !
My sister and her husband will be arriving tomorrow night!
I will do some grocery shopping for ham/cheese melt sandwiches , which we always make
when we have some guests as it is warm , and yet still a light meal for your stomach
after a long flight ! J
And Friday is my sisters birthday and I am taking her to the huge outlet mall in North Georgia , yesssss !!!
