Cover your ears! It's the crier competition
Oh yeas! Oh yeas!
Christchurch Town Centre will be resounding to the sound of 'Oh yeas! Oh yeas!' and the ringing of bells as the search for a new Town Crier reaches its climax. The competition to find a replacement for current crier, Keith Jackman, takes place from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday 2 August in Saxon Square. As well as testing their tonsils to the full the competitors will also be grilled on their knowledge of Christchurch by the judges. Spectators will also be able to enjoy entertainment with Mr Merlin.

Organiser and Council Tourism Manager, Ann Simon, said: "The competition should be a lot of fun. Keith Jackman will give a demonstration of how its done and then each competitor will then have to answer questions about Christchurch and 'shout' a message written by Keith. We have entertainment too, so it should be a fun event for everyone to enjoy."
The event is being compered by former Mayor of Christchurch, Mike Winfield and the Judges include, current Mayor of Christchurch, Councillor Eric Spreadbury, Borough Councillors Mrs Sue Spittle and Colin Bungey, former Mayor and local historian, Michael Hodges and, of course, Keith Jackman.
The winner of the competition will become the official Town Crier for Christchurch, win a set of Christchurch local history books and a costume made by the Bournemouth Institute of Arts.
