    Sheen als Bond-boef
    Michael Sheen staat op het punt zijn handtekening te zetten voor de volgende James Bond-film, waarin hij superschurk Ernst Stavro Blofeld zal gaan spelen. Dat meldt de Britse tabloid Daily Express.

    Een bron vertelt de krant: “Michael is op het moment helemaal hot, en er wordt alom gedacht dat hij de juiste man is om Blofeld nieuw leven in te blazen. Michael was toen hij jong was al een fan van James Bond, dus dit is voor hem een droom die uitkomt.”

    Blofeld is een bekende boef uit de eerdere films, en het is een teken dat de nieuwe films weer deels zullen teruggrijpen op materiaal uit de oude. Eerder werd al bekendgemaakt dat er werd overwogen gadgetmaker Q terug te brengen.

    In de 23e Bond-film zien we dus Sheen, die vooral bekend werd met zijn rol als de Britse premier Tony Blair in ‘The Queen’, het opnemen tegen de Britse Hoop in Bange Dagen, James Bond. Blofeld is van het kaliber superschurk dat al meermalen door Bond werd omgebracht, maar toch steeds weer terugkwam in volgende films. In totaal heeft Blofeld in zes films het leven van Bond zuur gemaakt, waaronder ‘From Russia with Love’, ‘You Only Live Twice’, ‘For Your Eyes Only’, toen hij gespeeld werd door Donald Pleasance. In 1969 nam Telly “Kojak” Savalas de rol op zich in de onofficiële Bond-film ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’.

    “Bond 23” staat gepland voor een release in 2011.
