    Nintendo stapt filmwereld inNintendo heeft zich lange tijd niet begeven in de filmwereld. Nu lijkt het Japanse bedrijf toch de stap te gaan zetten. Binnen 5 jaar moet een eerste film verschijnen over een bekend Nintendo-personage.

    Nintendo-CEO Tatsumi Kimishima heeft dit volgens The Next Web bekendgemaakt tegenover een Japanse krant. Er verschijnen (in eerste instantie) overigens geen live-action films. Nintendo gaat zich richten op animatiefilms en zoekt nog naar een partner om de films uit te brengen.

    De game-gigant heeft al een idee hoe ze de animatiefilms gaan bekostigen. Het bedrijf gaat namelijk hun aandeel in honkbalteam de Seattle Mariners verkopen. De bekendste Nintendo gamemerken zijn overduidelijk Mario Bros. en Zelda. Ook Pokémon vindt zijn roots bij het merk.

    Dat game-animatiefilms kunnen slagen heeft Walt Disney's originele animatiefilm Wreck-It Ralph bewezen. De goed ontvangen animatiefilm uit 2012 leverde wereldwijd $471,2 miljoen op.
