Leslie William Nielsen (Regina (Saskatchewan), 11 februari 1926) is een Amerikaanse acteur van Canadese afkomst.
Biografie
Nielsen studeerde aan de Lorne Greene Academy of Radio Arts in Toronto voordat hij naar de Verenigde Staten verhuisde. Hier speelde hij eerst serieuze rollen in sciencefictionklassiekers zoals Forbidden Planet en de televisieserie Dr. Kildare, maar hij werd later vooral in komische rollen gecast. Nielsen heeft in het totaal in meer dan 200 films en series gespeeld.
Nielsen is het bekendst geworden door de Police Squad! televisieserie en de daarvan afgeleide The Naked Gun-films, waarin hij de hoofdrol van politieluitenant Frank Drebin had en de filmparodie Airplane!. Hij speelde ook in een groot aantal andere filmparodieën en komedies. Hij heeft tevens een commercial gemaakt voor de toenmalige Nederlandse aanbieder van mobiele telefonie Dutchtone (thans Orange).
Zijn broer Erik Nielsen is vicepremier van Canada geweest.
