Regisseur Matthew Vaughn waarschijnlijk niet terug voor Kick-Ass 2

Het heeft er een tijdje naar uitgezien dat regisseur Matthew Vaughn samen met de originele castleden zou terugkeren voor de sequel op Kick-Ass. Co-scenarist Jane Goldman komt nu met een update waardoor het er ineens heel anders uitziet. Zij en Vaughn lijken namelijk beiden niet van plan om het script voor Kick-Ass 2 te gaan schrijven en er lijkt ook gekozen te gaan worden voor een andere regisseur.

Tegenover MTV zei Goldman het volgende:

I think the only thing that is fairly sure is that right now, Matthew doesn’t have any plans to direct it. He and I are not currently talking about writing it either. It may well be that Matthew oversees ['Kick-Ass 2'] in a producer role, and I may also be involved in that capacity. I know that there is somebody that Matthew has been talking to who would be interested in writing and directing that. That would be cool.

Hoewel ze er eigenlijk niet op rekent lijkt het Goldman wel erg leuk als de sequel er komt.

[Going back] is very tempting We had such a wonderful time making it. It’s such a great bunch of people, people we’d all be incredibly keen to work with again. If we could repeat the experience we had that would be wonderful. I think for whatever reason Matthew feels that he isn’t going to be directing that one.

Dan vraagt MTV aan Goldman of een tweede film eigenlijk wel nodig is.

My own feeling is that I love Mark Millar’s follow-up to the comic. I love the second volume of the comic, but whether the movie itself needs a sequel, I’m a little on the fence about that.

Na het succes dat Vaughn had met X-Men First Class lijkt de kans klein dat hij zijn tijd gaat besteden aan een sequel op een film waar vrijwel niemand geld in wilde stoppen. We zullen ons moeten vasthouden aan het feit dat er überhaupt nog over Kick-Ass 2 gesproken wordt
