 Dwayne Johnson heeft getekend voor de hoofdrol in The Monster Hunter's Survival Guide, een live action avonturenfilm gebaseerd op de gelijknamige stripboekenreeks van John Paul Russ, uitgegeven door Zenescope Entertainment.
In de boeken wordt uitvoerig uitgelegd hoe je op monsters, ondoden en onnatuurlijke wezens jaagt, en hoe je confrontaties met deze wezens kan overleven. De officiële synopsis van de eerste strip luidt als volgt:
