    Olyphant sheriff in remake Romero

    De Amerikaanse acteur Timothy Olyphant (Hitman, Live Free or Die Hard, serie Deadwood) heeft getekend voor een rol in The Crazies, de voor 2009 geplande remake van George Romero's gelijknamige horrorfilm uit 1973. Dat meldt The Hollywood Reporter.

    De film verhaalt over de inwoners van een dorpje in de Amerikaanse staat Kansas die na een vliegtuigcrash - waarbij een geheim biologisch wapen in hun watervoorraad wordt geloosd - geconfronteerd worden met dood en waanzin. Olyphant zal de sheriff van het dorp vertolken.

    Breck Eisner (Sahara) zal de film regisseren naar een scenario van Scott Kosar (The Amityville Horror) en Ray Wright. Michael Aguilar en Dean Georgaris, die eerder samenwerkten aan What Happens in Vegas, zijn aangesteld als producenten. Zombie-koning George Romero werkt zelf mee aan de remake als uitvoerend producent.
