Vaak wordt er met ontzag geluisterd naar mensen die “in Amerika bij de Indianen” geweest zijn. Vaak worden we rond de oren geslagen met woorden zoals: “shamanen”,”medicijnmannen” en “chiefs” en het wordt nog erger wanneer men het heeft over ‘persoonlijke contacten met de echte Indianen die hen alles over ceremonies geleerd hebben” Helemaal fout wordt het wanneer bedrieglijke personen religieuze ceremoniën gaan uitvoeren bij goedgelovige mensen tegen “donaties”.Dan verneem je ook dikwijls dat ze horen bij "de Native American Society”. Daarom dachten we dat het geen slecht idee zou zijn om even een beeld te geven hoe die zogenaamde “Society” eruit ziet.

Van de ongeveer 565 erkende stammen gaan we enkel de LAKOTA/DAKOTA en NAKOTA bekijken.
