Quite often, I do support people in their job by 'reflecting' togehter on how things are going. Last week I reflected with a coachee in which way she is handling and standing proactive in the workfield. The person described me a situation in which normely doesn't react, except this case. The coachee briefed me about about a decision of the n+2 leader (= the chef from the chef) , which had an impact on the work of the coachee. She was not amused with the taken decision, while it had an imported impact on the people the coachee supervised. Not the fact that the decision was taken, but it was already the third time that an earlier made decision, was turned back. For the coachee it was difficult to explain to their people, that this the decision was taken by the n+2. On the question 'what did you exactly do?', answered the coachee, that she went seeing the n+2 manager. In earlier situations she didn't dear to take this 'action'. By asking what the effect was from the made intervention, she told me that her approach gave her a better feeling and she told me that became also more 'aware' of the function, she was doing. The apporach for her was in this situation completely new. At the end of the coaching session, she said me that she wasn't aware of the real contribution of her function. In the same coaching session, she told me that she will set up 1 on 1 conversations with her direct employees, while she would like to improve the 'relation(s)' with every employee....
